Instead of meeting his answer with a scoff, sympathy--no, empathy--flickered across her gaze and Mira spared the other a small smile. "I see. If you ever do grow comfortable enough to share the information with me, I can tell Klaus who to exclude from his hunt. He's not in town often, but when he is he's...not quite like the rest of us." She left it at that before returning to business, her gaze growing cool and the smile fading into a formal, serious frown. "Anyway," she started, not giving Mithias a chance to respond to her offer; she rather give him the time he needed to mull it over, "yes, I sent the letter. The rogue issue is growing in this city, and I rather see them taken cared of before joining the Blackmoores or causing us trouble. You'll be free to help yourself to our resources as needed while on the job, of course. And I'm willing to pay after, in whatever you wish: be it money or blood or the like."

Heidrich followed the older vampire to the study, he was quiet but the extra weight he carried under his skin made his footsteps heavy; nothing a human would notice but to another vampire he might as well be stomping about, but he couldn't help that since he carried near one-hundred extra pounds in sub-dermal plating alone. Mathias sat slowly in the chair which groaned ever so slightly under his large and heavy frame. His eyes had noticed the book and the title but he chose to say nothing as he did not see any relevance or need for idle banter. "Ask what you will Praetor, I have nothing to hide."

Mithias bowed to Mira. "I thank you, Mira." Much to her relief he answered, "Money will do. I do not require a contract as the amount doesn't really matter to me. I will begin an investigation tonight." He looked at her a moment before nodding. "It was a pleasure, Lady Kingston." With that, Mithias took his leave, heading back toward the front of the house, let lingering as he neared the study.

"First, I wish to know your recent history, last fifty years minimum. Next I would like to know you thoughts on humans, any past clans, and your feelings on humans. In return feel free to ask me questions as well, I may hold back some answers but I will do my best." He spoke politely, gently reaching over he picked up a book and quill dipping it in a ink bottle before looking at him patiently. He would record the answers and present a written transcription to Mira. He was not a fan of writing conversations, he was more in to writing tragedies and comedies. He would do it of course as this was a important task, Mira would need to know about there guest. Perhaps he would continue work on his novel when he was done. No, he had papers to grade and he need to be at the University to teach his morning class, then a nap before his afternoon class came in. He did love teaching, but it was hard being two people all the time. he yawned absentmindedly as he waited to write.

Adelisa's lips turned up into a grimace. "And you can hide behind your family and large home. You have no clue what it's really like out there do you? You may think you do, but you're no rogue. You just think you're a big shot because of all the little pawns you have. All I was doing was trying to help." She gritted her teeth slightly, calming herself down before things got out of hand. She looked over at the woman and sighed, walking towards her without a care in the world. "You, miss, are quite strategic, but you're going to need a lot more protection against what is about to come." As she said this, she looked over at her head wound and shrugged. "You, of course, are too headstrong to believe anything can hurt you." Adelisa smiled at the man with a sickeningly sweet smile and said "the name is Adelisa, by the way. Not rogue or darling. Adelisa." She stood with as much confidence as she could muster, showing she really wasn't afraid of them.

“Adelissssaaaa” Béatrix hissed the name, giving it a bit of her signature French flourish. The rogue vampire’s blood coursed through her veins, coloring her thoughts and vision with things best left… well, up to your imagination. Madness. That’s what drinking vampire blood did to most vampires. It could make you feel higher than the tallest mountain and lower than the deepest trench, all at the same time. Emotions were heightened, feelings intensified. I guess it could be what humans would describe as an adrenaline rush, but it completely surpassed that in every way. Adelisa’s words grated on Trixy’s patience, the nerve of this one. small. girl. Madness. That was the only thing evident in Trixy’s eyes as they bore into Adelisa. With Alistair’s approval, there was nothing holding her back. Come to think of it, could anything ever really hold her back? Béatrix used her special ability to push into Adelisa’s mind, fishing for things like her age, her strength. Young, oh so young. Naïve as well. In moments, Trixy was upon the girl, shoving her against the wooden siding of the shore’s snack hut. Her thumb pressed into Adelisa’s right cheek as she gripped her throat with the rest of her fingers. “I know what’s out there girl. I know more of horror than you could ever imagine. Hell, oftentimes I am the horror. And I have spent more years fighting for myself than you have yet to grace this world with.” Trixy took in a steady breath, trying to reign in her emotions. Loneliness, all those years fighting and bleeding, all alone. There was a darkness in her soul that was born and raised in those years. She pressed her eyes closed for the briefest of moments, driving out the emotions. The blood, it was just the vampire blood fucking with her mind. “You think we hide? Blackmoores don’t hide. We take, we fight, and we keep what is ours.” Trixy said with force, who was she trying to convince? The girl, or herself? Her face softened when she thought of how Alistair came to check on her moments ago, how he offered her an arm in comfort. “That includes each other. That’s what makes us stronger than you rogues. We choose to live for more than just ourselves.” Trixy loosened her grip on the girls jaw and she looked down at the realization of her own words. Were her words even true? Where did that come from? The blood, yes, of course. Just the vampire blood. Madness. Never far, always in the corners of her mind. Trixy gave Adelisa a eerily bright smile. “Tell you what, darling rogue.” She said, purposefully not saying the girls name in order to earn her ire. “I’m feeling a bit sprightly, I’ve decided to give you a head start.” The dead coldness returned to her pale blue eyes as she hissed low through bared fangs. “Run.”

Klaus kept his distance once he was close enough to gauge the scene; with his age, the scene was nearly clear from the cover off the tall buildings though he knew he wasn't invisible to an alert vampire. It seemed the slaughter was over and it had been vampire versus vampire. The expression on his face was a grim one, hidden by the shadows near the docks. Over the sound of the waves licking the docks and boats, a remaining rogue traded words with what appeared to be the Blackmoores' most dangerous vampires. She was talking herself into a corner, which was a shame, because otherwise he'd almost feel comfortable stepping in. He noted the Blackmoore woman's intensity, that she was high on vampire blood. Almost. He remained a bystander even when Beatrix attacked the girl, only crossing his arms uncomfortably. For the moment, his attention turned on the family head who had allowed this to happen. Well at least Mira won't have to deal with the rogues, he thought to himself, eyes resting again on the rogue girl who was granted an opportunity to run. Not that it'd matter.

Adelisa smirked slightly, almost anticipating her death. "No, I'm not going to run." She leaned her head to the side, shoving her collar down and showing the scars on her neck, readying herself for death. She saw from the corner of her eye another male, most likely another vampire. She looked down at the ground and removed her hand from the collar on her shirt, feeling slightly embarrassed for the sudden suicidal movement. Her cheeks flushed and she looked back up at the woman with a calming smile. "You, darling pawn, might want to be careful with how much vampire blood you consume. You see, one or two newly turned vampires can get you the high feeling of madness, but I am much older than a day. I am much older than a year. Those little ones were young. I, for one, am not." She stepped up to the woman and lightly placed her hand on the injured spot, healing it completely. "And as I see it, I have information you may need to keep your little chess peices alive." She shrugged, stepping away from the woman. "But you are just going to die anyway." She waved and slipped back into darkness, moving with speed to her resting area. She didn't care if they followed her. It wasn't as if she had anything to hide. Her legs carried her to an abandoned shack that she was residing at for now. Adelisa sighed and threw open the door and slamming it shut when she entered. She wasn't scared that she was most likely going to be chased here. She didn't care if she lived or died, but she knew what was coming. She knew why she was here.

Béatrix smiled when the rogue girl feigned bravery in the face of death. Adelisa claimed she wouldn’t run, but she did just that in the end. Trixy tightened her muscles, prepping for a good chase as she took in a raspy breath. She felt her muscles literally recoil, much like a tape measure snapping back, when Alistair spoke up. “Béatrix. Watch yourself. We’re still not alone,” His harshness tethered her back in this world, allowing her to push her manic urges aside for the moment. How foolish of her, to get so caught up in one stupid girl that she couldn’t keep her surroundings monitored. Trixy reached out with the tendrils of her mind, seeking out the thoughts of those around her. The newborn rogues that were retreating were easy to detect, as their minds were still so very close to human. Trixy could also easily read her family members, as proximity to a person helped with Trixy’s ability. But there was someone else, the one Alistair detected. Trixy pressed her eyes closed as she concentrated and pushed her mind out into the shadows by the docks. There was a dark presence there, blocked by power and age that Béatrix hadn’t seen the likeness of in years. She opened her eyes and looked to her leader, a dark foreboding swirled in them. “He’s ancient.” She said in a breathy whisper. Maybe it was meant to be a warning to her family, but truth be told, Trixy was quite intrigued by his presence. Maybe he was old enough to know Francis. Her heart lifted in a flutter before crashing to her feet and through the docks she stood upon. Maybe he knew Francis. Knew…

The young rogue proved not entirely stupid when she took the chance to run. She also proved quite lucky when the head Blackmoore head called off the assassin--and she took heed. Klaus' gaze followed the rogue's silhouette as it disappeared around a corner, his own arms uncrossing. He stepped back, ready to leave the family to clean up their own mess when he felt a tickle at his mind. Scowling, he turned his head to the source: Beatrix was reaching out with her mind, pulling back only when she found his to be so old. Supposing it would be rude at this point to just walk away (and it'd give off a message that he was afraid, and he couldn't have that), Klaus rested his hands in his jacket pocket and approached the family. His dark gaze flickered about at the dead rogues, his nose wrinkling at the pungent scent of vampire blood. "You all made a bit of a mess," he greeted, raising his brown eyes first to Alistair than to the rest of the family. Outwardly, he remained relaxed if a little irritated, but he made a point to stay alert. They clearly had their fair share of vampire blood--young, sure--but potentially dangerous nonetheless. The thought had his gaze lingering on Beatrix a moment longer. She seemed to be the most lethal of the group, not that he doubted the family head's own strength.

Emilia would feel the rogue healing her. As she stood up from the ground, looking around and standing up slowly while seeing her stomach already healed. It was healed and she actually fely good. Now seeing Alistair, the headmaster asking to see if she was alright. Emilia was fine but she didn't know he cared about her. "Uh...I'm fine...don't worry about me." And with that she followed right behind Alistair, her arms crossed and stood silent because she was pretty embarrased because of the rogue healing her. Emilia didn't even say thank you. Her face was blushing a bit, angrily, her arms crossed closed to her chest.

Béatrix stepped towards Klaus, her eyes locked on him, but not in a predatory way. Ali had once told her about Mira’s sire, that being said, she knew that his allegiance to the Kingstons was a bit... fluid in nature. He was very old, and most likely did his fair share of killing, he had a dark side. And the Blackmoores, well, it’s no secret that they liked to play in the dark. Trixy brushed passed Alistair when he attempted to move in front of her. When would he learn, Béatrix De La Croix needs the protection of no man. Not anymore. Her feet brought her just inches from Klaus. His face was handsome and angular, and his eyes reflected an ancient soul deep enough to echo sounds. Béatrix’ face showed a softness that was in stark contrast to the blood drying on her forehead as she touched Klaus’ cheek with her hand in admiration. Leave it to Trixy to flip the switch from manic insanity to this behavior in mere seconds. “You have an old soul,” she began in a quiet tone. “Surely you met many of the ancient vampires.” The statement was embellished with a trace of hope.

The name given, Alistair, was vaguely familiar when it was projected into the air. Perhaps Mira had mentioned the rival family head a time or two, though Klaus didn't get a chance to return the introduction. Realization flickered across Klaus' eyes and faded away to a serious frown. This looked bad for Mira, no doubt: the rival family ambushed by a group of faceless rogues while a vampire with a link to the Kingstons watched over. Klaus grimaced inwardly, though, and made a point to state, "I'm not a Kingston, love. I don't fit in with the bunch." He had plans to go on and reaffirm that he nor the Kingstons had anything to do with the ambush when the female stepped away from Alistair to approach him. He tensed at her sudden and bold movement, but managed to stay his ground when she stopped in front of him, staring curiously into his eyes. Then her fingers rose to brush his skin and he blinked, eyebrows furrowing together. "And you have a daring one," he responded, raising his arm to take her wrist away from his face. "As for other 'ancients,' it's inevitable that you meet others--even if you don't particularly want to." He momentarily rose his eyes to Alistair as if wondering what this sort of behavior meant. Klaus wasn't terribly unkind, however, and waited patiently for her continue.

Trixy put her hand on her opposite arm when Klaus removed it from his cheek. The gesture wasn't particularly unkind in nature. She imagined that she might have unnerved him a bit, even with him being as old as he was. "I apologize if I caused you discomfort, Klaus. But do note that you were just spying on us without bothering to lift a finger in battle." a playful smile pulled at her lips. Béatrix shifted her weight onto her right hip as she stood before him. "My--" she chose her words carefully, not wanting to reveal herself too much to a complete stranger "sire was known to be the oldest known vampire in France. His name was Francis." Her mention of Francis in the past tense would speak volumes. A vampire as old as Klaus was probably did not have a living sire anymore, and there was no way to understand the pain of losing a sire aside from actually losing one yourself. The pain wasn't just emotional either, even thinking about it caused a nausea reminiscent of being kicked in the stomach.

"I'm a lover, not a fighter," Klaus joked, raising his shoulders in a shrug. "There was one left by the time I arrived, anayway," he added as his gaze flickered to the path the young rogue escaped on and then back to Beatrix to look her up and down. He left out his general distaste of slaying others of your own kind--not to mention feeding on them--as it wasn't the Blackmoores' fault they were ambushed. Probably. She continued, though there was a pause in her voice. Although he noted it, he didn't think anything of it; it wasn't uncommon for sires to be more than just the vampire who turned you. However, the empathy of losing a sire was lost on Klaus, his own less than lovable. But he did give himself a moment to mull over her words. "You want to know if I knew this man," he stated. The woman before him was dangerous and just had a helping serving of vampire blood, so he found himself hesitant to answer. If she was searching for revenge, he could become an unintended target. However, maybe it was the soft tone of her voice or the desperate look in those blue eyes--whatever it was, it appealed to Klaus' pity and he nodded. "He introduced me to a--" he mocked her pause with a slight lift of the corner of his lip, "friend in the 13th century. We didn't remain in the country long, however." Then his gaze shifted over her to frown at the head again. "Again, not a Kingston. I don't report to Mira," he reminded Alistair. His pride wasn't too fond of a vampire half his age giving him orders, even simple ones. He wasn't a messenger for the families. And while Klaus was still irritated that vampire blood had to be spilled tonight, he supposed at this point it could only be considered the Blackmoores defending themselves. Perhaps the incident would be worth looking into--the rogues must've been relatively young to outnumber the foe and still be slaughtered. "That said, if you need help with the rogues," his gaze shifted to the Blackmoore girl who had been injured and then healed, "I'm available for the next few days."

Béatrix lifted her fingers to her lips in a caress. He did know Francis, she let her heart swell for a moment. It was pointless to hide the way she still felt about him, even after over 5 centuries of being alone, as it was quite obvious through Klaus’ mockery that he knew. Trixy might be incredibly believable in her deceptions, but there was one thing she could never lie about - her love for Francis. Theirs was a love that could part oceans, move mountains… and shatter people. Trixy let her hand fall to her side and rolled her shoulders back as she stood up straighter. Her face was once again a blank slate, devoid of emotion. Gone was the madness that she allowed herself to be consumed with after partaking of the rogues blood. Surely a vampire with her caliber of mental control abilities was indeed a master of her own mind. Foolish of them to think her crazy, foolish of them to underestimate her. Foolish, foolish. Once again, Trixy allowed the icy walls to come up and surround her. They would block out the dangers of the world, only they could keep her safe; them and the cool steel of her firearms. When you surround yourself such coldness, it becomes impossible to feel anything at all. And with that, the act was back on – the mask of a perfect actress. Béatrix heard out Klaus’ words as he responded to both her and Alistair. Once he was finished, she let loose a sultry grin. “You don’t report to Mira, and you’re available for the next few days…” Trixy put a finger to her lips as she imitated musing “Hmm, well, perhaps I could show you just how fun it is to be a fighter and a lover.” She said before trailing her finger down the bridge of his nose like a skier on the slopes. Trixy winked as she playfully bit the corner of her bottom lip with a fang before turning away to return to Alistair’s side.
