You were, but it doesn't matter. The dragon still would've been able to attack us, cause it had ranged attacks and all the barrier stopped was it's body. Since the pirate could nulify all of our attacks from a distance, and I doubt the dragon would let us get close, blasting at us with ranged attacks. Killing it was for the best, though this will cause tension between the dragon slayer trio for a while, that is for sure.
