Character Origin & Backstory:
Derek Chandler was in the Air Force Academy and ultimately flunked out after seeing what he thought was a shapeshifting green alien. In fact what he saw was a Skrull infiltrator spying on the armed forces of the Earth in preparation for an invasion to gain ground on the Kree Empire. One night, after following the man he believed to be the alien he'd seen before, Derek was abducted by the Skrulls who began operating on him while still in Earth's orbit. Fighting out of the trance like state he was put in, Derek awoke and was able to cause just enough damage to the ship and the two alien Skrulls on board to see the alien craft crash into the Nevada desert.
Surprised that he survived the crash, Derek was shocked to find his eyes had altered color and that he was a lot stronger and faster than a normal human now. Making his way to his only remaining relative in NYC, his older brother [38] Donald, the 21 year old Derek decided to give superheroics a go with several superhumans catching the attention of the public eye as of late. Taking inspiration from a pair of 3D movie glasses in his brother's vast DVD collection, Derek settled on a symbol to call his own and the alias: the 3D Man.
Season 1 Summary:
3D Man took down several Skrulls posing as low tier heroes and villains including Thunderball, Black Goliath, Atlas, Dragon Man, as well as Griffin with an assist from Archangel.
Powers and Abilities (What can your character do? What can't they do?):
Derek now possesses strength, durability, speed, and stamina three times that of a normal human being. He can run as fast as 70 mph, but can attain short bursts of speed up to 90-mph. He can leap heights of up to 30 feet into the air. He can lift or press up to 1,400 lbs regularly. He also possesses a quasi-telepathic link to the distinct aura of the Skrull race, making him able to detect them in any form they assume. His brother calls Derek's power the 'Tri-Force'.
Sample Story Arcs: Give 2-3 ideas on where you want to go with your character.
Secret Invasion: Derek continues hunting down Skrull infiltrators in the form of civilians, 5th string heroes and villains, as well as somebody higher up on the food chain [TBD by myself and Ded].
F4 vs Super Skrull: 3D Man will more than likely be in on this one when
@DrewVonAwesome makes it happen LOL.
Big Time: After establishing himself as a hero, 3D Man could become a member of the Avengers or perhaps something more like the New Warriors if there's enough younger heroes in the game. He'd get more of a super suit at this point as well.
Sample Post (This is used as an introduction to your writing – try to keep it to around three paragraphs or more and try to include dialogue):
"I've been tailing this 'Thunderball' character for three days now. Guy runs around with the Wrecking Crew, but I doubt they know he's one of these shape-shifting alien Skrulls. A month ago he assumed the identity of a doctor Elliot Franklin, probably to get intel on the gamma tech the military's working on. Now he looks to have got jacked on steroids and throws a ball and chain around. I can see his real face. And tonight, this alien's going down..." Derek thought as he leaped and ran across rooftops keeping up with a car Thunderball had stolen.
Sometime later before ditching the car, Thunderball changed clothes. The 3D Man could see him shifting his form rather than actually changing any clothing. The man looked to have dropped about forty pounds as well to help hide his other alternate identity. Derek moved ahead to the doctor's last residence and was waiting for the Skrull. Upon entering through the door into the open, the alien was caught off guard by a punch from the stronger and faster 3D Man. A couple more punches into it Derek grabbed the alien and threw him through a wall. The home was huge. The doctor had been rich after all, before the whole being abducted and replaced with an alien. 3D Man was usually a hit first ask questions later kinda guy when it came to the aliens he was hunting. As the alien struggled to get up, Derek finally thought to ask some questions. Hopefully the alien was informative like the better villains in James Bond films...
"I know you're called a Skrull. What are you doing on Earth?" 3D Man asked standing back from the floored alien.
"You can't MAKE me talk, human. You don't look like the torturing type." the alien said shifting back into his alien form clad in a ridiculous purple alien suit.
"I'm sure the military can find something to do with you..." Derek began before being interrupted by the alien.
"Wait... YOU'RE the one who defeated Captain Paibok? You may have got lucky against the Power Skrull but every other Skrull you hand over to your brother and his friends in the military..." the alien began as Derek got a shocked look on his face at the mention of his brother Donald, "..yes, we know about your brother, human. Every other Skrull merely shifts into another human and escapes before being completely neutered by your military. The last Skrull you sent away..."
"Goliath..?" 3D Man thought out loud.
"...already back among the human race as a hero this time. Atlas." the alien continued.
"What do you want with Earth?" 3D Man tried again as his brother and a few special military operatives in protective gear hit the scene.
"I'll take my chances with your friends, thank you. We'll be seeing you soon..." the alien continued before being restrained by a knockout gas and a fully automated fold out prison cell that formed around him.
"Did he tell you anything?" Donald asked his younger brother.
"Yeah, the alien I took down last week got away didn't he?" Derek asked with Tri-Force energy emitting more fluidly from his eyes.
"He did, why?" Donald asked.
"The one I just took down said he's already on the move again. As a hero calling himself Atlas." Derek explained.
"I saw that guy in the 'Bugle. Same powers, makes sense. You gonna go after him again?" the older sibling asked while noticing some of the finer things in the good doctor's home.
"That goes without saying. How do they keep getting away from the military?" 3D Man asked with aggravation being clear in his tone.
"Look... we're trying to replicate your 6th sense, but we need you to run more tests..." Donald began reasoning.
"I don't have time for tests, damnit!" Derek said a little louder as the last of the military agents evacuated the scene, "The more time I spend with you studying my powers the more time the aliens have to gain the upper hand.
"You just like being a superhero little brother. You don't have to lie to me." Donald said taking a jab at Derek.
"Can you give me a lift back into the city? I forgot my subway card and I don't have any cash on me?" Derek asked.
"You can run at least seventy miles an hour and you want a ride? In traffic?" Donald asked.
"I don't feel up for running, I just beat up an alien. And your car has a radio and a reclining seat..." 3D Man said grinning and showing off some dimples.
