Excalibur AGA-098 series 'Galahad'
A typical AGA. Note that the Galahad features orange light details and a Fusion Lance weapon. This one is the 'Lancelot' model.
Size:
larger than a Human, the AGA series stands at a height of roughly eight feet tall, though is proportioned similarly to a man.
Unit history:
The AGA series' purpose becomes relatively clear when one examines the acronym. Anti-Gang-Android. The AGA series was designed for the purpose of taking the place of humans in anti-gang operations, often alone, such was their power. This particular model was also designed to extract civilians trapped in gang territory to safety. Thus, this model was designated 'Galahad', after the noblest knight of the round table.
But make no mistake, this model's primary purpose was the annihilation of gangsters.
Memory:
The Galahad remembers its directives, but little else. Kill gangsters, protect unarmed civilians. As for actual memories, the Galahad knows nothing. For all intents and purposes, it is the first time it has been activated. Additionally, the Galahad does not remember how to use the Thruster Array or the Fusion Lance.
Equipment:
The Galahad is equipped with a variety of equipment to serve it's purpose.
MK. IV 'Paladin' Fusion Lance. Designed to cut through the armored 'tanks' made from cars that late pre-war gangers favored. Detractors of the MK. IV often point out that the weapon is 'Overkill', but none can fault it's effectiveness. The weapon is reminiscent of a cavalry lance used for jousting, though it ends in an odd three-pronged point. These points are utilized by the internal fusion reactor to superheat the air around them, generating a powerful though short-ranged burst of heat capable of melting through a great many things, and killing anyone unfortunate enough to be on the inside of an armored car. However, it takes time to recharge between attacks, and while it is technically a projectile weapon it's range is so short it's usually used to 'stab' the energy blast in.
When unpowered it still makes a good bludgeon, and the points are sharpened and quite robust. Still, without it's reactor working it's essentially an over-engineered pointy stick.
MK. IX 'Gallant' Armor plating and shield. The Galahad is armored very well, and is easily capable of repelling most forms of small-arms fire. The shield is quite well armored as well, offering additional protection in the event gangers get ahold of RPG-7s and the like. While strong and not heavy enough to impede movement too much, it is worth noting that the armor is simply not strong enough to withstand military tech and dedicated anti-armor. It can't do much against 20mm autocannons, it was designed to fight gangers armed with AKs and Mac-10s. That said, the armor is exceptionally resistant to heat, likely more to protect it from its own weapon.
Standard AGA thruster array. All AGA units are equipped with low-power thrusters designed to facilitate evasive maneuvers and close into melee, as few AGAs were designed to fight at range. The evasion move is fairly short ranged, but fast, and works by using the many hidden thrusters to give a quick burst of speed along with a quick leap.
The Galahad was also designed with a complementing vehicle, but this unit does not seem to have one. There might be other AGA weapons and subsystems compatible with this model, as AGAs were often differentiated mostly by equipment.
Skills:
The Galahad was programmed very well for its role, especially considering its intended opponents. Most military robots are given similar tactical programming in the art of war, but AGAs are different. They fight bands of unorganized marauders, and stock programming would be a death sentence. No, AGAs were designed to be adaptable first and foremost, to be able to react to any enemy strategy, with consideration of all possibilities. Because when a normal robot would think 'they can't be stupid enough to attempt such a suicidal action', an AGA would think 'They might be stupid enough to attempt such a suicidal action' and prepare accordingly. For a ganger might devise an unconventional yet clever plan that would annihilate more strictly disciplined machines.
AGAs are wise, independent, and very good at reading a situation. Particularly, the Galahad was designed to appear heroic, a shining savior for trapped captives and as such is programmed with a friendly, considerate personality and a strong sense of right. The Galahad also has very strong senses and a wide cone of vision to help in defending hostages.
