Brief History: Akira comes from a family of duelists. While not well known, his family did have a small following and his father even taught at Duel Academy for a short few years. Akira went to Duel Academy just a few years after and wound up in the Ra Yellow Dorm, much to his disappointment. His father only said one thing to him after hearing the news. "Show your inner HERO". Akira took that as his motto and vowed to do just that.

Brief History: Kite came from a rough family. For generations his family was nothing but mechanic until the Duel Runner came around. After that point his family primarily ran a Duel Runner shop in New Domino City. Kite took a loving to Duel Monsters as a little kid and has always had a love for warrior monsters because they looked the strongest. That was until he came across a Stardust Dragon card. He initially didn't like it because it was not a warrior but he felt a calling from it. Soon after he played it once he adjusted his deck to suit it in combos.

Brief History: Megumi's mother is an ex-pro Duelist, while her father is an accountant. Megumi was entranced with Duel Monsters as a child, and spent most of her time with Duel Monster cards. She spent hours creating decks, only for them to lose multiple times in a row. One day, though, Megumi's mother asked her to make to best deck she could, and to meet her in their backyard. A day later, she created her deck and met her mother outside. It turned out that Megumi's mother had challenged her to a Duel, and her mother would use her personal deck. The challenge, sadly, proved to be too much for Megumi to overcome, and she lost after a close match. Afterwards, though, her mother told Megumi that the match was close, and she only won by sheer luck. She then told Megumi to make her proud with her skill. Megumi swore she would, confident that she would uphold that promise.
