"So, that shows again that you shouldn't speed through a red light on high speed, because you will get hurt. Back to you in the studio, Hiroshi." Kenji said ending his report. He looked the the small television screen that always had to be carried along.
"Thanks, Hiroma. In other news, the new company-" Hiroshi spoke while Kenji walked towards his car. Kenji smiled to his colleagues before getting back into his own car. His job for today was done. It has been a weird and confusing day. For once he was happy that someone else had the evening shift of the journal. It all began last night. He was just done with working and got home. As always he took a nice hot shower, however when he stepped outside of the shower he suddenly saw a tiny girl laying on his bed. Like expected he asked what she was doing here, and then saw her playing with his video camera.
He quickly ran over to her to grab it out of her hands, but she wouldn't let Kenji do that. The girl introduced herself as Muru Muru, the assistant of Deus Ex Machina, the current God of this world. Kenji was shocked to hear this, but his attention was caught. Murmur told that he has been chosen as one of the candidates to get his job. She tells that Deus has enchanted his video camera so it could predict the future. She threw the camera into Kenji's hands and winked, saying that she had to go to the next person and disappeared.
He couldn't believe that what happened last evening was true, but today he noticed that his video camera indeed predicted the future. The car crash, he already saw that the car had crashed on his video camera. He made use of it and took the crew to the intersection where the crash happened, and witnessed it. They were there before the crash happened, yet his video camera displayed that it would happen. He parked his car in the garage of a rather large house in the suburban of the city. He went inside and sat on his couch, letting a deep sigh out. "This is really strange. But what if it was really real?"
"This is reality, Sixth." Kenji looked forwards and saw a huge skeleton faced being standing in front of him. He looked around and saw he wasn't in his home anymore. He was in a large round dome colored with a purple tint. Next to him was floating Murmur on a ball, so the giant being must be Deus Ex Machina. "Join the others." Deus spoke. Sixth suddenly saw he now was standing on a white platform, and as he looked around there were eleven more of those plus the giant throne of Deus. And the weirdest thing was that they also seemed to be floating in the sky. Seven places were already filled, five more to come. In the middle of the circle was an extra platform, probably for Muru Muru as Deus had his own throne floating further and higher than the other platforms. The other five joined rather quickly though and Deus began to speak again.
Deus stood up and spread his arms. "Well then, now that everyone is gathered, allow me to explain about this survival game once more. The diaries you possess, they are called Future Diaries. They were ordinary diaries you were using, but now they distort time, and entries can appear from up to 90 days into the future. The diaries change, depending on the actions of the owners. Suppose your Future Diary prophesies your injury from an accident. When the owner reaches the prophesied point in time, and take actions contradicting the prophecy, reality will be altered and the future will change." Deus explained while showing a simulation of a person walking in a straight line falling down on a spot and walk further again. "If you avoid the prophesied entry, the future where you get injured will also change, and your future entries will be overwritten." he explained while this time the person avoided the spot he had fallen down.
"However you are not the only one who can alter the future. That is why it is called a survival game. When it's confirmed that another diary holder is going to kill you, you will receive a death sentence. That is the Dead End notice. To do this you will have to discover who the other diary owners are and find them, using your own diaries and methods. Find their identities and set Dead End flags. If someone sets the flag on you avoid it by any means necessary. That's the essence of this survival game." Deus rose again from his chair that was floating in the unreachable section of the gathering place. He spread his hands widely.
"As for the last man standing in this survival game, he or she will become the successor to my throne as the God of Space and Time. Live or die. There are twelve of you left. Kill before you are killed, and claim the throne of God." there was a moment of silence until Deus spoke again. "The meeting is adjourned." he said and everyone returned to the place where they were before.
Kenji chuckled a bit after he had returned from that sudden meeting. So now he was involved in some kind of survival game. He looked to the camera in his hands. And this thing would predict the future in the same way he has been recording things with this thing. This game could be very interesting. "I can have the power to change this world... I can become... God." he mumbled to himself. The game has begun, the first action will be executed tomorrow, he has the whole evening to think of something. And he isn't going to waste this chance.
