It has been twenty years since the fall of Coruscant, and the official end to the Clone Wars.

No, no, that's alright with me. Screw Palpatine, I dislike the idea of walking a trodden path. With him, I'd be restrained with what I could do, because there was only one thing he wanted, and he cared little for compromise.

I guess with Palpatine out of the picture, the Death Star as a Gen'Dai homeplanet (sort of) is a go. Seeing as Palpatine and Tarkin are the only ones knowledgeable of it's existence, the Gen'Dai's would have secured it during the power vacuum when the Republic fell.

Yes, especially considering Palpatine had a building thrown at him(not literally(Alright maybe >.>)) and Tarkin was kind of busy rallying the Open Circle Fleet along with Kenobi, and is now heading the GRM fleets. A giant space station without even a super-laser is hardly even on his list of priorities.

Actually, I think I have an idea for a semi-independent Corellia. One that's courting all sides of the intergalactic conflict.

A work in progress, but could someone versed in the lore take a look at my history and see if it fits? I've been doing lots of reading, but by the Gods old and new, there's so much of it! I still have to get to grips with the military side of things, although thankfully it didn't look that daunting. Either way, I want the history green lighted before I turn my hands to anything else.

I am aware my Empire is split, with the two halves being very far away. However, I wanted my capital to be far away from the fighting, because no doubt everyone is going to bundle me. I'll play a fair fight, with defeat in mind, but Bastion will give me the means to carry on post-Corusca conflict.

Oh and if someone could advise me on how big Star Wars fleets are, that'd be good. I've got two, one based in Corusca, presumbly with the strength to defeat a middle-level invasion, and the Black Fleet, my ace in the hole and military powerhouse.

So far my research has only uncovered that the Imperial Navy at its height "fielded millions of warships, logistics vessels and fighters, maintaining Imperial control throughout the galaxy." Of course my Empire is a much smaller entity, and I'm at a loss of how much to scale it down by.

Thanks :)

History:

In the Republic-shattering aftermath of the Trade Federation's victory over Coruscant, a Fleet Admiral by the name of Kell Zaine reorganised a large portion of the broken remnants of the Republic's scattered fleets, and took them to Sartinaynian in the Outer Rim Territories. A fortified world, though still in its infancy, Sartinaynian offered Kell the time and means he needed to fight back against the Trade Federation.

Despite lobbying the other self-appointed leaders who had formed in the wake of the broken and leaderless Republic, Kell found himself unable to convince them of the need to launch a decisive counter attack and to retake Coruscant. "The people," he proclaimed, "need hope. A victory over Coruscant will give them just that!"

Crouscant however, was a glassed ruin. Her billions of inhabitants mercilessly killed, her vast urban space no more than rubble, and her industry now non-existent. His peers rejected the plan, and he found the senior officers amidst his ranks were likewise against it. To many, it was simply not worth the risk, not when Sartinaynian could be defended indefinitely.

Frustrated, Kell turned to darker powers. Dormant Sith agents had been drawn to him by his lust for a continuation of the war, and by his apparent hatred for the Trade Federation. They knew in him was the man they needed to further their own cause. In his darkest hour, they provided him with fine promises of victory, and of justice. He accepted their help, and in return, they silenced the senior officers who were trying to wrestle the control of his fleet from him.

It took Kell a decade to establish an iron grip on the Braxant Sector. Many had tried to stop him, and many had failed - no thanks in any small part to his Sith allies. With their help, he established himself as Supreme Commander of the Braxant Imperial Fleet. To dissolve of the animosity from the ranks, he elected twelve of his most senior and promising officers onto the Council of Moffs, and gave them the false power of vetoes over his decisions, and the illusion that they had some control of his actions.

In this time, Sartinaynian, now aptly named Bastion, had been transformed into an industrial powerhouse. Kell risked near-economic collapse in swelling his fleet by scores of ships, and once he was ready, he led his war machine against the Trade Federation at the Battle of Coruscant.

The battle was fierce, and Kell was out numbered three to one. Through superior understanding of battle tactics, he defeated the Federation decisively, breaking their hold over the entire sector. They fell back, but beyond the sector's borders, they are regrouping. His open alliance with the Sith has also brought him animosity from not only his own subjects, but from other entities who seek to undo all that he has strove to achieve.

The RP will start with the Corusca-Braxant Empire in its tenth year. Civil disturbances have been put down by an iron fist, and all live in fear of the Supreme Admiral. He has by now reached the age of fifty-five, and although is healthy, no one is entirely sure who will take the helm when he passes away. The Sith have flourished in Imperial territories, with their own institutions fully endorsed by Kell.

The Imperial war machine has been gearing up for another run in with the Trade Federation, and has now assembled two mighty fleets. The Coruscant Fleet is primarily a defensive force in nature, using older ships than the fabled Black Fleet - Kell's untested but nevertheless feared main battle force.

Coruscant has been repopulated, and redeveloped, but is many, many years away from reaching its former glories. Duneeden, Utrost and Weerden have been transformed into factory worlds, with their sole aim being based in ship production.

[Researches frantically]

Stealth, huh? My T.I.E fighters could do with a little boost. How effective would this technology be at cloaking larger vessels, like Star Destroyers for example? Could give Kell some interesting edges once the inevitable war on 24 fronts begins.

EDIT: And light sabre crystals too? Well in that case, Kell's Sith buddies will no doubt be interested. Sure, let's arrange something. I'll activate the Phantom T.I.E project at the RP's start, a little side-topic that might lead to something more significant.

Second Edit: Oh, TIE doesn't have a . between the characters. That's odd, I thought it stood for something. Turns out Lucas just thought they looked like bow ties. Heh.

Got bored, added Zaine's bio.

I'll research the Sith later, and iron out Darth Sranus. As it stands at present, he'll be the shadowy hand behind the Imperial Throne. A lesser Palaptine, with lesser ambitions, but never the less a dangerous adversary. And each day, his power grows. But yah, I'll get to that later tonight.

Sounds good, gave a quick read of the Empire a moment ago and things look pretty solid. I would put up my own NS, but I need two posts for it o.O

Anyways, since this is rolling quite nicely, I'll be looking to get OOC up either tonight or tomorrow, unless something comes up to disrupt that plan.

Great!

And it's okay if there's a delay, I still need time to get everything done. You guys have turned me into a full Star Wars nerd in 24 hours. MRMM, such power do you have.

Love the sheet :)

Although the Empire is smaller then I would expect, would've thought they'd have a few more sectors, although an Empire on its way of conquering said sectors slowly is also a pretty cool set up.

I'll take on as many sectors as the GM needs me to.

From my point of view, though, Palpatine was kinda central to the Empire being what it was. No Palpatine, no Empire. Instead, it fell to a headstrong and idealistic Admiral to take the reigns of a shattered Republic. The Sith saw a chance to use him to further their own ends, and supplemented his power.

However, with all the successor states and other factors, I see it unlikely that this new Empire would control anywhere near the amount of holdings that they did.

Though if the GM wants me to, I'll have it that Kell's victory at Coruscant spurred on the fence-sitters across the Galaxy to join his cause, therefore swelling his ranks with men and material.

I'm happy with what I have though. It's all about what this RP needs the Empire to be, more than anything.

We're still on track for launch this evening, probably going to prioritize it over some posts elsewhere. Those who intend on playing a Republic state let me know, as well as anyone who intends to align with the Federation. This way I can set up PM threads to set you guys up on a more concise state of the galaxy and check where your locations are. Tome, I'll set one up with you as well to get The Empire going right proppa.

I believe in current Star Wars stuff, stygium is only used for cloaking small vessels. However, my organisation/syndicate has been able to manufacture cloaking devices ranging from man-portable to Star Destroyer sized. These are rare, difficult to manufacture, and are very expensive to purchase. They are also given to agents and several ships of the syndicate who enforce their rules upon those who would dare to double-cross them...

EDIT: Actually, the cloaking devices are only effective for ships around the size of the Millennium Falcon, etc. An SD is a bit far...

Did some more background research, and it is possible to cloak larger vessels, but it's the price of Stygium and the rarity of it which makes it rather inefficient to do so. So, yeah, you could actually do it, it would just bankrupt the Empire. Don't think even the Federation could bankroll a project like that and make it effective.
