Long and short, is that I'll be setting up an NRP in an alternate timeline of the Star Wars universe here soon, and am looking to gauge interest as to whether others would be interested in joining in. Things to know about the setting:

-The Republic lost the Clone Wars after Grievous and the CIS sacked the capital during the Second Assault of Coruscant.
-The Jedi Purges did not happen, as the Council never caught on to Sidious, therefore those who confronted him in the movies are still alive.
-Dominant powers in the galaxy in order of power are: The Trade Federation, the Grand Republic of Mandalore, and The Empire, followed by a series of republic successor states and the Hutts.
-Force users. Force users everywhere. Not really, but with the Jedi Enclaves in the GRM, and the relaxed standards of the Order, more force users are emerging when they would have otherwise remained in hiding.

Those are the basics, but I'm sure to have forgotten something. At any rate, ask any and all questions you may have. I've been GMing and RPing for nearly 15 or so years, and I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to being a GM. So long as you aren't ruining the fun of another player, I'm alright. That's pretty much my main rule.

Hey there Hyperdrive, nice to see you around again. Thinking of using the unfinished Death Star as a home for them this time as well?

Been thinking about it, but The Empire's plans might have come into fruition sooner if the Separtists won. Gonna hold on the idea until someone takes interest with The Empire.

Hmm, not too sure. Was thinking of something like a small regional power. Although I could go Empire if no one else takes it.

In terms of regional power, there's quite a few of them roaming about. A lot of Republic successor states have risen since the fall, some under the shadows of the Trade Federation in the Mid-Rim and Inner-Rim, and others working with/against the Empire in the Core/Expansion regions. Out in the Outer Rim, it's really anyone's game, with the GRM holding firm in their sectors and denying the Empire up in the north, while the Trade Federation battles it out with Republic states in the south, and the Hutts are just kind of "there" in the center regions.

So many choices :) I'll need to think on it, but it looks like I'll be a Successor State.

Possibly. My Star Wars lore is light weight though, I've only seen the films, and played both Dark Forces and KOTR.

Man I feel old.

Anyone wanna suggest some further reading for me? If possible, I don't want to have to go through swathes of the starwars wiki if I can bring myself up to speed with a synopsis instead. For example, the RP mentions the Empire. Empire as in stormtroopers? If the Republic lost the battle, wouldn't the Empire not be around? Or is it another Empire?

Either way, I'm interested, I just need to go beef up my knowledge first. List me as a hopeful maybe.

It's all good, you don't have to be an expert in the lore, as I know a bit myself and I'm sure there's others about who would be more than happy to answer lore questions that are relevant.

@Empire: The Empire would not have arisen in the same manner, no, since Palpatine never got the chance to yell "UNLIMITED POWAH!!!" and become Emperor, but it did spawn via a different path. That path being a successor state that rallied others together against the Trade Federation and reclaimed Coruscant. With a power base established, the alliance pushed the Federation out of the Core and claimed it for their own. Shortly after, it was voted that the republic's government had been too weak to contest the Federation by dint of their allowing any and all to have a voice in the senate. The new chancellor of this republic then enacted that only as an Empire could they truly contest the Federation and reclaim the lost systems of the Republic.

Of course, that's all subject to change if/when we get someone looking to play as the Empire, as will be the territory they currently occupy.

So this Empire would be a smaller version of what it was? That's cool. Would Palpatine still be at its head? Or would a Council of Moffs have taken the helm? I'm happy to play them, researching them as we speak, actually (the Star Wars universe is pretty readable!), though I'd defer to someone more grounded in the lore.

If it were me though, I think Palpatine would have forged ahead, declaring that "All who wish to save what we love, follow me!" more or less. The less trusting of him would have gone and made the Republic successor states, whilst the fence-sitters and the "YAH WARRRRR!!!" types would have backed him. He'd of set aside everything democratic, declaring himself (although I think he already had by this point) the indefinite leader of the Galactic Empire pending the Trade Federation's defeat.

Aye, it would be a smaller version of what it was. Depending on how things play out, it's power fluctuates anywhere between that of the (currently)NPC Trade Federation and the Grand Republic of Mandalore, though can dip below both of them. Biggest thing against them is the factor of public support and the competition between them and nearly all other factions in the galaxy. They are essentially a declawed Ottoman Empire right now, they may have a decent power base to sit in and defend, but everyone hates them and wants a piece of them, and there's really not much they can do about it. The reason for that, is that while the other republic factions(including the GRM to a degree) can ally together freely and will do so, there is no one for the Empire to align themselves with.

@Palpatine: I neglected to add in the part of the Second Battle for Coruscant where Grievous glassed the surface and dropped a building on Palpatine, but if you want to do something with Palpatine leading the Empire, then we can always hash things out and get something cool going.

No, no, that's alright with me. Screw Palpatine, I dislike the idea of walking a trodden path. With him, I'd be restrained with what I could do, because there was only one thing he wanted, and he cared little for compromise.

I'll go with the Council of Moffs, who formed following the schism of the Republic, caused by the loss of Coruscant. A board of high ranking officers, who declare that strength alone will bring back the glory of the Republic (even if they have no want to restore it to its previous form). Naturally, they'll ally with the Sith, who will promise them power and everything else in return for their endorsement.

Their victory over Coruscant would have brought them prestige, and some loyalty. Whilst the successor states were busy being all democratic and nicey nicey, the self proclaimed Galactic Empire would have been seen as the ones doing the "real fighting". So I'd have that going for me, but yeah you're right, generally speaking I'd be despised, especially with me openly saying that the Sith were okay guys.

Anyway, let me go away and learn the geography of the Star Wars universe, some more stuff about the Imperial Remnant (on whom I'd be basing much of my faction, if I did take control of them), and I'll get back to you.

In the mean time, put me as a 75% sign up. Just gotta get myself educated.

Glorious. Allying with the Sith will very likely get you some(read: A lot) distaste(As in hate) from the other republic states, though The Enclaves and the GRM proper are likely to just apathy at it. In terms of fighting, the other republic states do their fair share of fighting the Trade Federation as well, as the south is currently a bloodbath between the two groups. Still, though, being the Empire has the benefit of having one of the few stable regions in the setting. The only ones more stable in the known galaxy are the GRM and they haven't actually been doing any fighting.

At any rate, glad to have you, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them either here or in PM :D

Many thanks :)

And hey, if you could throw down a nation sheet so's I could make a start on things, that'd be great. That way we can clear up any possible lore errors early. Even if it's just a rough hand copy, I only want an idea of what kind of information you'll need.

Of course, I'm just going to grab an NS from @Sigma and the previous big SW RP we had going, and drop it here:

Sounds pretty solid, I imagine those of the Open Circle Fleet that didn't rally at Mandalore would have stuck around and gave the fight to the Fed and now the Empire.
