Khat The Perpetually Exhausted

It was around 11:30pm. A cool breeze hit her face as she walked out of the door. Aria smiled. She had just finished her shift at the diner. She was old fashioned, rather than a coat she had a thick cloak. She thought it looked really cute with her waitress outfit. She pulled her cloak around her arms and put her hood up.

It was a nice night tonight. The stars were out and the moon shone bright. She took a deep breath letting her lungs fill with the fresh night air. As she walked down the road, slowly making her way back to her apartment she stopped and read a poster that was lit up by a lamp post. 'BEWARE!!! There are creatures lurking in the dark! Never walk alone at night!' She smiled and laughed a little as she shook her head. She saw a lot of posters like these. There have apparently been some vampire sightings in this part of the city so all the warnings had gone out.

Her manager was reluctant to let her walk home alone because of it. Each time she had to insist that her house was only a five minute walk away and that she would be fine. It wasn't it was about half an hour away. She loved the night walk. She was also strangely keen on meeting one of these 'creatures' for herself. She neither hated them or liked them. She was a girl who liked first hand experience before she made a decision. Of course she would never tell anyone this secret. She would be locked away in a white room if she did, along with all the other 'crazy sympathisers'.

She continued to walk down the pathway humming quietly to herself as she did. Content being alone in the moonlight.

The same night, Alister had found himself starting upon his nightly shift. He worked a local electrician, doing maintinance during the night. Though the work was manual labor, the fact that he was a creature of the night certainly helped him in making the task even easier.

It was a night like any other, heading out with a few tools carried in a bag around his shoulder as he stumbled slowly, bumping against the walls of the city. His knuckles trembled lightly, clenching them firmly to push himself off the wall again. His gaze wandering to the many posters warning about things such as himself, it even filled him with more frustration that he had to be even more careful than usual to not find himself at the bottom of an experiment lab, or another corpse to satisfy the human race.

Lately he had been having less and less of proper nuitrition, filling him with growing urges and pains, weakning him every moment as he could hear the throbbing pulse along someone's tender neck. He was forced to hold himself back, at times he had instinctively stared at them before akwardly trotting off again. But tonight was clearly his worst moment of all, trembling and weakned to the point of desperation. He even thought that dying after a full meal might not be too bad...

His ears twitched suddenly at a stranger's steps in the distance, his already desperate state making it all the more clear to him. He dropped his bag instinctively, his feet already pressing firmly against the ground before he even registered it. His eyes reddening with conviction, a crimson bloodlust gazing after the caped woman as his own hood fell down to display the rather normal look he had, clearly disguising his original form to blend further in. His vision was clouded, he might've not even registered anyone else at the time, his focus on quenching a certain hunger was rising beyond his own controll.

He came only closer and closer, yet no sound came from him. He was hunting his prey, ever silent and watching as he suddenly dashed out to leap towards the woman, pressing his hands firmly towards her shoulders to try and press the woman firmly down against concrete. His trembling and desperate gaze wandering over the the loud and deafening pulse of the person, reaching to grasp and pull down the cape, his fangs already pushing out for the final moment to finally sink into her.. His head shook then wildly, pushing himself off her as he stumbles weakly back. He mumbles quickly, pulling his hood above his head to further conceal his crimson eyes and protruding fangs before dashing the way he came.

As she was humming away to herself, all of a sudden she was being pushed to the floor. Her cape being pulled at. She didn't scream but she struggled to try and get this person off of her. Then all of a sudden he let go. She saw a flash of red eyes. Her own blue eyes widened at the sight. Was this what she had been looking for for years? Had her longing to meet a vampire finally come? She was filled with excitement and fear all at once. Then he ran.

She looked a little dumbfounded at first but began to run after him. She couldn't let him get away. He didn't seem like he should be. She heard that they were strong, fast, agile creatures. yet he was trembling and falling into walls as he ran. There was something wrong. She felt like she needed to help. "Hey!!" She whispered loudly. She didn't want to start yelling as that would alert the hunters. "Stop!!" She whispered again as she ran after him. She wasn't a fast runner yet she seemed to be catching up to him. Was this a vampire or just a crazy person?

The man blinked furiously, already having to struggle to keep himself collected between the animalistic thoughts of draining the woman of every last drop of surely delightful nutrients, just his imagination was trying to convince him of the ever blissful release it could bring. His strength, his power could be restored ever so slightly, but he ran instead. He'd rather starve with what dignity he once had, though little it was as the man ran and stumbled along the street.

His eyes eventually caught the view of his worker's back, blinking at the clear whisper rang through his ear. He tried to run even father, his survival instinct kicking in further to try and get away before he finds himself surrounded by the authorities, and then... His imagination surely could figure a scenario, but his strength was already fading greatly. He moved to pick up his back, bumping his shoulder firmly against the lamp-post as his somewhat frail figure fell down over his bag and onto the ground. The light from the lamp cascading upon his hood, strands of his darkned hairs clear. His eyes weren't even tinted, clear crimson colored as they were brightned up by the lamp-post above him, the sharp fangs quickly disappearing underneath his lip as he once more caught the gaze of the woman wandering after him. At this point... He was already found out, a good excuse he had none of, anyone sane enough would certainly have already alerted plenty of people, maybe he could just.. await his death? He was afterall just fleeting between city after city, scraping up a living and sneaking in-between to find blood for him to feed upon.

She saw him fall to the ground with what sounded like a hard fall. Aria ran over to him and knelt over the stranger. He was almost lifeless. Hie eyes a beautiful shade of red, glowing with the way the light shone on them. Eyes glazed over, not really moving. He was... dying? She bit her bottom lip thinking. What should she do? She looked up and down the street. Empty. Perfect.

She grabbed the strangers arm and pulled him to his feet, he could barely stand so she put one of his arms around her neck. She wasnt a weak girl. It was mandatory for a lot of women to take martial arts now for self defence as it was mainly women that are being targeted by not only creatures but rapists and murderers alike.

She began walking again, holding onto him so he wouldnt fall. She got all the way to the apartment with him, the stairs were tricky but she managed them somehow. Just as she got to her door she almost fell. Dead weight. He had passed out. Or died. She hoped it was the former. She wouldnt know what to do with a dead vampire. And it would be disappointing seeing as she got him this far. She unlocked her door and struggled through. She kicked the door closed behind her as she had to almost drag him in. She lived in a small studio apartment.

She managed to get him over to the couch. It was the closest thing other than the floor. She took off her cloak and draped it over him. She didnt know how vampires worked. Very little was known to the public about them. Even if the cloak did nothing, it was a nice gesture. Now she had to wait for him to wake up. Hopefully that wouldnt take a long time. Though it was almost 2am now. carrying another person home takes a long time annoyingly. The sun comes up at about 4 so she ran around the apartment and closed all her blackout blinds. She had no idea if that was true or not if they burnt in the sun, but she would rather be safe than sorry.

Once she was done she got herself dressed in more comfortable attire. Her penguin PJ's. She looked over the vampire again. She took off his shoes so he would be more comfortable. She took a cushion from the other end of the sofa and sat on it. She wanted to stay close by just in case. "Now... We wait" she said quietly to herself.

The man responded only lightly as she gazed over him, only being able to take in glimpses at a time as his weakned form easily buckled underneath itself, even having the woman starting to carry him. His eyes flickered only a few times as the view of the streets came to him, confusion hit him as the last image he rememered was of the woman's mesmerizing face. His lifeless form was dragged and lifted by the woman, into the stranger's apartment as a brief view of her floors came to him, fluxing back and forth between little luciddity and unconcioussness.

The man was eventually placed upon the couch, laying there like a well preserved corpse. His chest didn't heave, he didn't make a single sound of even breathing. He was entirely silent as he laid upon the couch, perhaps peacefully so as he was covered in the woman's cloak. His head even being supported by the couch cushion. He was already weakned, even resting for hours would already do him very little, but it did manage to let him regain a small amount of strength back.

His eyes slowly flickered open, the pure crimson color had suddenly fadded to a normal pair of green eyes. His hazefilled gaze slowly running from side to side of the strange ceiling. It took quite a while before he actually woke up, it would've been closer to four at midnight as he found himself slowly leaning upwards to sit on the new sofa. He knew he wasn't at home at least, blinking at the cape he was covered in as he slowly sat upwards in the couch, idly sparing a weary gaze around the room untill his gaze rested upon the woman adorning the penguin PJ's.

He seemed rather akward at best, raising a slow hand to ruffle a few hairs in both confusion and curiosity. He spared another glance around the room, wondering if the goverment just was really good at decorating their cells before gazing upon the woman within the same room. "Ehm-.." He exhaled incoherently, still trying to gather himself. His toes wiggling idly, a strange feeling of not having his shoes on. "There's a woman... With penguins on her clothing... I don't have shoes on... I'm using a cape as a blanket... And I can't recount the last hours..." He tilts his head in thought. "I'm definetly not dead..." He pondered further, talking to himself if anything, even unsure if the woman was at all awake.

She eventually dozed off. Her bum on a comfy pillow and her back against the wall. She was watching to see if he would wake up. But he didnt. The boredom of nothing eventually took its toll on her. She slumped.

After a while she heard a voice. She slowly came around and saw him sat up. Her eyes widened fully as she sat herself up properly and smiled at this stranger. "Hello" She said softly as she listened to him talk to himself. "Are you alright?" She asked curiously. "You...Seem like you're in need of a good meal or something" She said looking him over. He seemed almost dead. Like his life was slipping away slowly.

The man blinked lightly, having his hand run across his face slowly as his eyes eventually raised up at the woman again. He swallowed gently, raising his other hand to slightly wave in her greeting. "...Hello." He scratched his head again slowly, letting the other hand dangle down against the couch once more. "I'm..." His voice trailed off, thinking back upon the recent times of hunger and bloodlust. "...I'm managing... I'm sure that exactly what I need." He forced an akward smile, though it slipped into the weary and blank expression again. His hearing picking up an ever slight beat, slowly slipped further and further into his mind. He swallowed deeply again, slowly dragging the cloak off him to the side. "I... I should leave. I'm sorry for the inconvinience I've caused you.." His voice rang politely, leaning upwards to stand as he stumbles in his stance.

He shook his head lightly again, pushing back the aggravating urge that's been eating him up. "I'm sorry... Where am I exactly?"

She stood up quickly as he said he should leave. "No!... I mean" she blushed slightly as she felt embarrassed about near yelling. "You are weak... The blood bank in the hospital is heavily guarded because of recent events... and I don't think animal blood would do the trick for you would it? " She said as she made her way over and looked him over as she knelt down in front of him. "What is your name?" She asked softly as she smiled up at him.

She didnt know why but she felt like she wanted to help him. He could have killed her so easily back then in the street. He didn't. Which means these creatures aren't wild beasts looking for the next kill like the media says, or at least... this one isnt. He is thinking, logical, coherent. Human like. And she would do her best to help a human. So why not this man? "My name is Aria. Aria Tully." She said sweetly. "Pleasure to meet you" She added with a cute smile.

Alister exhaled slowly, running his fingers slowly upwards his face, his eyes blinking at the exclaiming woman. He flinched ever slightly, letting his gaze wandering over to her, now knowing she knows about him, or at least has an idea of what's underneath the bland facade he's been adorning for years. He clenched a few fingers, pondering the idea of giving her an early grave, but quickly dismissed it, he might just slip into another sleep if he were to try. He even pondered using a fake name, but his eyes met the earnest woman knealing before him. "Alister."

His gaze wandered across the room once more, scanning for his bag ever briefly before he slowly settles down upon the couch again. His view flickering upon the woman again, only being able to imagine what she was thinking. Perhaps she was a sympathiser? Or just curious? He had already met an array of different people in the past, but he remained calm, he didn't exactly have much of choice. If he were to go outside, he might not even make it back home before daylight, even getting home at all would be a difficult feat.

Alister bowed lightly, forcing a bare smile. "Likewise, miss Tully." His voice remained weary and somewhat monotone. "...Vasques, it's Alister Vasques."

She smiled as he said his name. "Are you looking for your bag? It's just by the door" She said softly. She hadn't looked inside. That would be rude. "You err...want anything? I dont know exactly what a... um... Vampires needs are" She said shyly as she continued to look up at him from the ground. "And you dont need to put on a front around me... you are welcome to be yourself. Regardless of what that may be" she said smiling. She was a very smiley person and very curious about the creature that is sat in front of her on her couch.

She kept wondering what he would do. Would he stay? Leave? What if he asked her for...food... What would she do then? She wasnt sure... Did it hurt? All these thoughts were racing through her mind all at once. Her mind was racing as she kept looking up into this mans face.

Alister nodded gently, leaning forth to glimpse at the door where his bag was laid. He breathed in slight relief, but then scratching his head. There was one thing greatly weighing on his mind, something he craved enough to attack her for. "I suppose it's no point in denying what I am..." He smiled akwardly, it wasn't a natural thing for him. "I.. I attacked you for what I wanted.. But I apolgise, it was horrendous of me to assault you, whatever my state was." He bowed sincerely.

The soft throbbing had not once left his keen ears, exhaling a heavy breath before swallowing deeply again. His palms pressed lightly against his knees as he sat on Aria's couch.

Aria smiled at him. "It's totally fine. I wasnt hurt and you didnt kill me... So I'd say that was nothing to apologise for" she grinned up at him. "Though if you would have just asked... you probably would have gotten a lot further." She added blushing slightly. "Does it hurt? ...Being bitten?" She asked nervously but curiously. She never took her eyes off of his face. She found him so... handsome. Even though he was rather...ill looking. His eyes were so interesting. They looked like they had seen many many things. She was fascinated by this man.

Alister scratched his head lightly still, finally running his fingers through his hair to merely rest his hands upon his legs as he leant to sit upwards again. "Well.. I'd still say that most would get pretty upset for being put in such a position... But thank you for your kindness, miss Tully." He blinked, pondering the instance if he'd actually ask someone willingly to partake in loss of blood, he found the idea a slight amusing as his lip twitched slightly. "Probably... I'm not sure which way it would've gone though." His akward smile once again forced upon his lip, then tilting his head slightly at the question. "Well... As I recall... There's a deep and constant ache, it's painful to begin with, but somehow reliving as well." His voice rang wearily, swallowing slightly at even recalling the process of it all.

"One finds themselves... In a slow-settling haze, a pleasant feeling in the long-term. But of course.. There are times when one ventures too far, and ends up in the eternal abyss." His eyes flickered up at the woman, tilting his head as she seemed ever curious of his nature. He leant forwards, a little driven by a constant reminder of her heartbeat. "Would you like to try it, miss Tully?" It was faint, but a small grin formed at the edge of his lip.

She blushed as he leant forward closer to her and giggled. She smiled "Please... Call me Aria." She said blushing more. She wasnt used to being called 'Miss' She could tell he was a gent... Or at least seemed so. "An eternal abyss... sounds scary. I dont like the sound of getting lost" She as she bit her bottom lip nervously. She bit it a little too hard as she was lost in thought thinking about it she. It bled a little. The pain shocked her back into the real world. She blinked the world back into focus. To see Alisders eyes fixated on her lip.

He felt a more vile urge twist his lip into a wider smirk, but shaking his head lightly. "I'm afraid I can't do that, it wouldn't be right to call you by firstname, right after having attacked you previously, miss Tully." The ever akward smile slowly came forth on his face again, but his eyes peered deeply into the woman's eyes. His very being wanton of her soft throb resounding within his ear. "It's not something one would want to enter, since there is only darkness, Miss Tully."

His eyes slowly fell from the mesmerizing view of the woman's eyes, falling upon the drop of crimson forming upon her lip. A sweet smell intoxicating him as he only leant forth in the urging bloodlust, mere inches away from the woman's face as he reached a frail hand to trail a few careful fingers over her warm cheeks. "Are you nervous, miss Tully?"

Her cheeks reddened more as he touched her. She didnt flinch or move away. She rather liked the touch of someone else. She nodded "A little" She whispered softly as his face came closer to hers. She had never been this close to anyone before, let alone a vampire. He could kill her right now. His hand was close to her neck, his face close to hers. Her heart raced faster as these thoughts ran through her mind. She got a small kick of adrenaline. She liked being this close to this man. She didnt know why, but either way, he made her heart race. She could hear her own heart beat. Badum. Badum. Badum. Faster and faster. Her ears were ringing.

He watched her with an amused glint in his eye, it had been too long since he has had any proper contact with anyone for... Years he stopped counting. But his touch was careful, yet cold to her warm skin. "Stop me at any time, Miss Tully." He whispered carefully, cupping the back of her neck as they only inched in closer on one another. He could even feel her warm and heavy breath upon face, swallowing deeply as every second he felt another crippling urge to just tear into Aria.

His eyes gazed deeply into the woman's, but a second later, the crimson hue she had only gotten a glimpse of stared into her directly. His ears ringing with her rampant heart, the aroma of the bleeding lip.. His hand gently grasped at the nape of her neck, guiding her slightly to the side as his gaze averted towards her neck with further conviction. His intentions were clear as he moved closer and closer, pushing an ever careful kiss upon her neck, but that's when he bore his fangs, the sharp edges slowly starting to dig deeply into the woman's neck, piercing her warm and delightful skin.

Her heart beat faster as he grew closer and closer. His words ringing in her brain. Her breath getting caught in her throat as he kissed her neck then a gasp as he sunk his fangs into her neck. It hurt. But then, it didnt, the sensation of him drinking her life fluid, sucking it out wanting it faster than it was coming out. He was obviously hungry. He could drain her. Yet she felt as though she could trust him. She didnt know why but she did. She moved herself closer to him lifting a hand to rest on his arm that was holding her. Her eyes glazed over. She felt like she was in a trance of sorts. She felt happy. She was helping someone in need. For the first time in her life. She didnt feel like she was just floating. She had found something she actually wanted to do. It was euphoric.

Alister closed his eyes slowly, feeling the delightful warmth of Aria's blood flow between his lips, being able to taste and properly feed himself for the first time in months. He was already in a trance himself, a constant circle of merely leaning against the woman, both his arms slowly reaching to grasp around her even more possessively. His lips pressing ever firmly against her neck, a few droplets staining the edges of his mouth one by one as his tongue slowly ran over the two wounds he had made. He suckled still gently, not forcing the flow as he had his fill. He even had to force himself not to savagely feed himself, even in his weakned and hungry state.

Quite a few good moments had passed before tongue more idly ran over her bloodstained neck, lapping up the small droplets that had spilled during their close moment. He felt himself gaining strength by the second, untill he eventually tilted his head slowly back again. His crimson eyes slowly falling upon her's as his tongue slowly runs over his own lips to clean them. "Thank you, Miss Tully..." He whispered gently.
