The lounge as usual, was dimly lit. A bustle of members sat, drank, spoke, ate and read together or apart. A faint hum of energy is audible in the background, though most if not all people in the room seemed to ignore it though. A young lady sat alone at a table, a coffee steamed next to her, a book was held thumb in pages and fingers placed against spine, supporting it with one dainty hand. Her large eyes scanned it's words quickly, covering page by page in great speed. This was the Guild-master, or the current one at least. She looked temporarily up from her tome to quickly read the clock. It was nearing time...

One or more new members were to be coming soon, and she loved introducing new recruits. "Coffee stunts your growth you know." A husky voice drew the girls attention elsewhere. It's source, a man in a long red robe wit his face concealed in scarf stood facing the small sorceress. He and her both knew she hadn't grown in many, many ears. She smiled warmly and gestured to the seat across from her. Her friend Arnold, a very powerful fire mage and beast curator, they have worked together for many a year now. "I do hope you will be welcoming this time around." She said as she went back to her reading. The man took his seat and looked to the black door placed directly parallel to the Guild-master. "Ah...new recruits then." He sighed and crossed his arms. "Hopefully more useful than the last bunch."

There had been a drop recently in new members. This was a dangerous sign. Harder and more numerous amounts of missions and requests had been showing up, and only so many members could deal with only so many quests. Trying times seemed to be looming...

In a back alley, behind an old pub with papers and puddles a quiet battle waged on. Two forces alike and not at all stood against each other, concealed from the untrained eye and out of the peoples way.

Justin let a shaky breath escape his gritted teeth. A deep gash had formed over his left eye and was currently seeping blood over it's closed lids. Bruises and tears over his flesh and clothes showed signs of a struggle. Another sign of this was the large heaving beast across from him. It had it's fair share of wounds as well. It was a low crawling scaly thing, with four sets of horns starting at it's forehead and dotting down to it's chin. It had a long snout and more than two nostril. Two beady eyes stared down the young man and his glowing hands. A waving and spiked tail seemed to swing like a pendulum. The beast was at least two or three times as big as the young man, and definitely much heavier. Justin gripped the crystals in his hands tighter, ore magic stirred within them, making them blare brighter. A rush of energy caused a small sort of uplifting air to surround him. His hair flowing up, some blood droplets following. This was going to be a draw, trying times seemed to be looming...

Varontis hummed happily as he worked. He was sitting on one of the lounge's many couches- actually, it would be more accurate to say he was lying across it, taking up an entire couch in the already-crowded lounge with his body and his various supplies. He was knitting, at the moment, in the end stages of create a warm woolen scarf, dark green in color. His scepter, a wonderful piece of gold and emerald, sat at his side, and he planned to use it soon. Once this scarf was done, Varontis planned to Naturalize it, and his mind raced with all of the possibilities for a living scarf. He could make it so that this scarf, by its life, was warmer than any other scarf ever created, and it would make an excellent gift. Or he could engineer a living scarf that would strangle whoever tried to wear- not too much, of course, Varontis never killed, especially with his pranks. He just couldn't decide which to try first, and his excitement was definitely impacting his rate of work. Hearing with his well-tuned ears a smidgen of conversation, he glanced up for a moment, and saw the guildmaster conversing with someone who had his back turned to Varontis, but who Varontis could still identify as the curator of beasts. He gave a small, polite small to the guildmaster, then set to work once again.

Sana sat on a table, swinging her legs off the edge. She was mixing up herbs, creating medicine. A smoke was rising from the goblet she was mixing. Sana took a swig of the medicine. The pain in her ankle faded. It was probably a painkiller. That was good. Sana smiled, pulling out her deck of cards. She let them float around her head. Building card castles and little figures around Sana's head. Before long she was forming weapon out of them. Swords and axes. Making and then disassembling them.

"Boy, dont you know when you take on something too big for your own skills? If anything at least have a way to escape if it comes down to that, if you don't death is a possibility." Edward said behind the boy as he looked at the beast and sighed before using both of his hands and placed them on the ground and a circle of magic appeared before earthen columns flew up crashing into the beast's belly with it probably being it weak point. The size of the beast was nothing to be underestimated as his eye went back to check the condition of the boy. He was badly injured and this fight would ended more or less with both of them down.

With the earthen columns distracting the beast momentarily, before he slugged some mediocre sized fireballs at the beast and snapped his fingered before a breeze went down into the alley. The fire and wind seemed to mix and then combustion happened causing three big explosion that almost consumed the beast. His magic was so boring, he was lucky his use of science and magic allowed him to combine his versatile amount of magic to create effects powerful than what these could do individually. It was still a shame if he could practice on these powers more, he could actually be good enough to fight by himself with other mages of his level. Edward soon snapped out of his though as his hands waved through the air grew cold, the heat leaving and the moisture gathering before soon the beast's legs and partial part of its body was frozen by the ice. A manipulation of fire to remove the heat, wind to cool it down even more and ice to gather water and freeze. To Damien it was all about combinations and how he could use them with his limited set of powers. It was seriously depressing for him as he then looked back at Justin.

The beast for the most part would of been weakened enough to at least not break out of this ice for the mean time, hopefully as he looked at the younger boy. He sighed healing magic was not his favorite area of spells despite its usefulness, but he simply lacked the aptitude for using that branch except for the most simplest that could heal paper cuts and similar. So he snapped his fingers before the blood and dirt that was caked on the younger man began to rise off his skin and dropped to the ground. With the exception of whatever was in the wounds, Edward didn't want to mess with that as he would leave that to the trained.

"Hey kid, do you want to kill this thing first or go patch up? I can only do so much which sucks, but yeah. If your going to stay behind I'll go to the guild, if you even know where that is of course." Edward said looking at the man, who despite his best efforts still looked messed up and mauled but not as bad as before.
