Alphonse is a good character but he has limits when facing tech-based fighters it seems.

On a separate note, anyone feel my bitch slapping Scion's character was wrong? I understand he expected me to listen to him explain himself, but he did insult the Queen and her honor. From a character perspective it was inline with the character.

So the question becomes, if we have defined our characters behavioral traits, should we step away from them, even if they do not make sense in order to foster dialogue between characters?

Mhmm, definitely.

I told a lie about not having a decent character to fight him though, I remembered I have two vampire swordsmen with magical abilities which should be a relatively fair match for Alphonse (it's worth baring in mind that this won't be the best practice for fighting a character like Skallagrim though, who seems to be more focused on swordplay as a distraction while he builds up a devastating ability, where-as my Vampires use magic as an aid to killing someone with their blades.)

@Rilla Would you rather fight Vanarus Sallein, the Patriach of my Vampire line, who uses a Rapier, or Adrian Valdovsk, one of Vanarus' progeny who uses a short sword and a knife? Provided you actually want to fight me, I won't cry -too- much if you'd prefer to fight someone else.

You were in the right of he could have realistically slapped him with Scion having the chance to dodge as per normal rules. I haven't had time to read the post until so get home so can't tell the exact circumstances.

As long as he has a realistic chance to dodge, it's no issue, I think your character's behaviour should be important.

Oh he has a chance to dodge, whether or not it places him in a worse situation remains to be seen. But he has a chance to dodge the slap by a variety of actions.

While that is a technique I do use, I can engage in swordplay to finish off an opponent.

Yup. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them - it only means that you should balance them a bit more carefully than usual to fit in the tier you're aiming for.

Holy mother of god, I just took a look back through the multiverse OOC, that was the most idiotic shit by the end, it just became loads of dickwaving over different character types and a few people desperately trying to salvage actual RPs, it was like a social experiment in leaderless RPers.
