@Melonheadwell last time I was here I was informed there was no real established meta for powers, nor was I under the impression that there was sort of globally accepted way sheets were structured or written here. Seemed pretty open to changes.

in any case I've still got other chars, some probably more 'traditional' that don't use extensive sites or anything, but it genuinely seems like were on opposing ends of a spectrum here, so I'll wait around until you're ready to go, or until perhaps someone else accommodates me.

@Tasuke What is your high-tier character?

Not for unranked, but for ranked there are more specific guidelines for making it easier on judges, check out the Ranking HQ character sheet area for more information. You're right though, our characters are a bad match, if you happen to stray into the lower power levels where physical combat is more of the focus then we may be able to fight in future.

I will use Hisame (roleplayerguild.com/posts/3085940) for all mid-tier battles.

I don't have a profile here made for Tera, but she is a 9 on the power scale of 1-10; she can create various elemental miracles, hover, fly, move at supersonic, teleport, affect things with her mind, speak with her mind, read minds, etc. I also do not directly write character abilities to avoid being godmodded by people that read them. Although, a careful read of Hisame's history reveals much about her supernatural traits.

Though I do have a profile for her here: nexxushost.com/rpg/thekeep/whois_popup..

Imagine a goddess in power but in human flesh; especially vulnerable to sniper rifles if her guard isn't up, among other things.

Also, how do I hyperlink so I don't have to post links?

There's a formatting cheatsheet at the bottom of the screen, should tell you everything you need to know.

@Tasuke

It is fine if you don't trust anyone here enough, but without a proper description, it would be hard to find a proper match in power. Even more so since the abolition of the old tier system, in favor of a more player-regulated way of grading characters, where instead of using a scale from 1-10, you actually do look at your opponent's abilities to determine whether you have a character of similar power to fight them.

So yeah, i don't know what others have to say, but i personally would suggest finding some way to describe the exact level of power she possesses.

Yeah, hiding your powers isn't going to work 1 on 1 in ranked, it's fine in tournaments as the judges are responsible for balancing, but in player balancing obfuscating your abilities is pretty much not going to work. It's just wildly unsuitable for ranked play.

That being said, and this goes for you as well Gun, I'm happy for much looser rules and would probably fight any character in unranked. I'd just prefer a fair competition if you insist on fighting me in a ranked battle.

Also, there's an inherent irony in not trusting anyone else not to meta-game, there's a far greater argument for not trusting someone deliberately hiding all their powers and abilities.

I'm familiar with BB. I have owned various forums, and I'm pretty decent with html. The cheat sheet seems to be more of a 'BBCode for dummies', no offense of course, but doesn't really give me the arena general format, but luckily I know what format you mean. So it seems the general status quo is to have a one-page sheet, where everything is neatly organized.

@TasukeYour goddesss character sounds fun enough. While I do use PC characters, I very rarely do anything that is generally outright unfair universally(like most rulesets having a thing against porting). But I have no issue with you using a char who can port and all that jazz.

I also am not a stiffler for sheets. As long as their abilities and powers are logical within the realm of the mentioned char then you will rarely get complaints from me.

My reply to you was to check out the arena ranking headquarters character area, where you can see the style we use for Arena characters, at least in regards to information pertaining ranked fights. It's kind of important to follow the established rules for ranked fighting or it causes all sorts of problems.

If you don't follow the ranked rules you can't fight ranked, essentially. Do whatever you want unranked though.

@melonheadI'd say that on the surface alone, it would be highly suspicious and a no-go in a ranked or tournament match. However, I do understand tasuke's issue. Intentionally hiding info isn't all that bad provided you give that info to someone relevant, like a judge. Which is something I myself have done before.

@MelonheadWell again i'm familiar with the archetype used here. Its essentially the same as valucre, and several other prominent forums featuring combat. I understand what rules there seems to be in place here. Only issue I've even remotely ran into is that some people find my characters.... Large lol, which on its own doesn't seem against anything.

In theory that works, in practice it would require the judge to follow the fight near constantly to pick up on any stretching or otherwise bs'ing of powers, as the competitor themselves has no idea what their opponent can and can't do they can't call the judge to look into unusual moves or situations where their opponent has literally just used a power to avoid being hit. Judges don't tend to be available non-stop to read every post and OK it before moving on.

I've fought maybe 50-100 times, and I've seen powers stretched a lot, sometimes unintentionally sometimes on purpose, but it definitely happens. It's always been particular common in tournaments, which was our version of ranked before the ranking system. I wouldn't be comfortable in a ranked match which is designed to be competitive having no agency over the fight because I have no idea what people should and shouldn't be able to do.

@Vordak I may have to rethink my character choice once I know your finished bio because Shio. Let me know when it is finished so I can decide if it is worth the effort. Shio may just be too limited with her magic to work and anything too seriously modified would make her a different character entirely (which I don't want to do).

Unfortunately, my characters are generally for specific universes so it can be hard to match them up with others (especially those that aren't even remotely human).

Alright. I've got a few other characters if you'll still be interested in a fight, so it's no big problem.

@MelonheadI don't think it would take such tedious supervision of the fight by a judge. Then again, this is a sport built on integrity, and I tend to have more faith in people than they probably deserve when it comes to knowing the lengths some will go to to get a cheap win.

After work I'll get working on a list of characters I'll potentially be having in more fights, taken from my hundred and so characters plus some more I have in mind but yet to type out. I'll draw each one before posting them in the list and the sheets should be higher quality then the standard ones already posted. I wonder if I can get one a day completed.

We should have a battle with us. Like...literally us and how we'd do in a real fight and see what happens.

Just continue with the one you were working on and I can find something probably to match up with it (I hope). Almost all of my characters are essentially humans with varying degrees of power, so when people get into robots, divine beings, or magical constructs two things generally happen: either they are outclassed or they are, by virtue of the abilities they possess, some kind of direct counter. Neither is much fun for either party. >.>
