The doors slammed shut on the police car as once more the mischievous Sapphire was caught stealing jewels from Coast City bank. The brown haired vixen wasn't sure who tipped the police off this time but her hands were up as soon as she saw the dozens of squad cars lined back to back, guns all aiming at her. It was a drag, all that adrenaline pumping for it to be displaced with sinking failure. She sighed in remembrance.

Back down to earth and with a quick smirk and flash of her hazel eyes, she tried to use her powers to aid in her escape. Unfortunately this attempt was in vain. The guard watching her laughed. "That there neck-brace has a promethium core. Unbreakable and it absorbs your powers. Isn't technology a hoot?" The grip on his gun tightened as she clenched her fists. "Ready to join my girls at the Coast City Super Powered Prison?" There was no denying it now, she was probably screwed...

Waking up the next morning in her plain gray jail cell, Sapphire was startled as a male guard yelled out, Wake up! Time for breakfast girls!" Again that low nasty chuckle, as if he had some sort of inside joke the rest of them weren't in on. It really pissed her off and as she tried to stretch out her hands, she realized the dark truth for the second time. She was powerless. Pitiful and powerless. She grimaced as she looked down at her orange jumpsuit. Terrible and just plain tacky. Sauntering, Sapphire exited the iron bars and joined the lines for food. It literally looked like muck thrown on a tray.

"Is this the type of crap you serve?"She muttered under her breath. "What did you say?"came from one of her prison mates in charge of the kitchen. She was big, burly and mannish. "Oh nothing at all, darling. Just admiring the color..."Her tone dropped drastically.

"You want a piece of me?" Yelled man-girl, taking off her hairnet and hopping across the counter. Sapphire knew she stood no chance against that towering mass without her powers... but that mouth of hers was something else.

"Bring it on, Agatha. You seem like an Agatha. Manly name for such an ugly woman." She chuckled and ducked as the lady took a swing. The prison guards did nothing to help and in fact seemed to look right through them, much to Sapphire's disdain. She ducked from the first few clumsy punches thrown. Finally one connected with her stomach after she was cornered. She fell on her knees, coughing and gasping for air as she looked up and saw the lummox smiling, fist slowly raising.

Sapphire closed her eyes, wincing. Things had gone from terrible to worse.

Adamina Dancer, aka Clash, had been a resident of the Coast City Super Powered Prison for just over two months. Four city blocks in downtown Coast City had been heavily damaged in her battle against Supergirl. Windows were shattered, walls crumbled and automobiles were totaled during the battle between the 'Girl of Tomorrow' and the 'Daughter of War'. Adamina did not lose the fight because Supergirl overpowered her. On the contrary, Adamina believed herself to be the stronger of the two young women. Of course, there was the possibility that the do-gooder was pulling her punches. As the fight had wore on Adamina grew angrier and more focused on defeating her adversary. So much so that she became less aware of her surroundings, particularly missing the technician from the prison who just happened to be in the area with a few of those inhibitor collars that negated the superhuman abilities of their wearers. Long story short, the hero used a bit of trickery in the end and was able to end the battle by placing a collar around Adamina's neck.

During the past year Adamina had built quite a reputation for herself as someone not to be taken lightly not only in Coast City but all up and down the west coast. Not only was she super strong with the ability to move and fly at supersonic speed, Adamina had also spent seven years training under her father, Ares. Normal law enforcement were powerless against her. Until she ran into Supergirl, the few superheroes she had encountered fell at her feet. Within the past two months she had quickly made a reputation for herself in the prison as well. Yes, the collar inhibited her powers, but it could not negate her training.

As she filed into the cafeteria the commotion made it obvious what was going on inside. A fight!

Never one to pass up a chance to test herself against another Adamina pushed through the gathered onlookers. She recognized the big burly inmate as one who often worked behind the counter cooking and serving the slop that passed for food. Adamina wasn't a fan of the prison food. She wasn't much of a fan of this beefy server either. She arrived just in time to see the large lady punch her fresh faced opponent in the gut. The light-skinned girl fell to her knees gagging for air.

Boldly Adamina stepped forward, and more than one inmate gave the demi-goddess her space. Brushing her long strawberry bangs from her face revealed the smirk upon her lips as she came to stand directly behind the large lady. As the overgrown female raised her arm and balled her meaty hand into a fist Adamina spoke up. "It's become quite evident she is no match for you, and that this contest has come an unsatisfactory end, at least for your audience," she said calmly though Adamina's amusement was wholly obvious in her voice. "Perhaps you would like to try venting your aggression on someone who could give you a more worthy challenge." With her hands upon her hips she awaited the serving lady's response. Adamina had a reputation as a warrior. Would the brawny woman dare attack her?

"Ten years ago, on a cold dark night
Someone was killed, 'neath the town hall light
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me..."

Hayley flashed a dirty look at her companion, April — who as of current was trying to deepen her voice to sound like a certain country singer. "Cut that nonsense out, you're creeping me out," she demanded as the two walked towards the cafeteria. April responded with this 'I-might-be-mentally-unstable' sort of grin that made Hayley shiver. The two heard a commotion that was going on in the cafeteria; what they saw was a hulking humanoid of a female was towering over some other smaller girl. "We should do something." Hayley asserted. April almost laughed in reply, "Can't really do much with this collar on me," she tugged at the mechanism around her neck that made her powers useless. Somehow Hayley had forgotten that the two were powerless with those collars on. She glanced back at April, who was a few steps behind her, taking in her petite 5'2 size. Hayley was no she-hulk herself, so there wasn't much they could do...

A Week Earlier

The jewelry store's alarms went off and the boys in blue arrived in record-breaking time. "Are you serious?!" Hayley yelled at April, who was stuffing fistfuls of diamond jewelry into her jean shorts' pockets as they spoke. "I thought you disabled the alarms!" she scolded her. "I did!" April yelled back, still greedily shoving clumps of necklaces and bracelets into her pockets, ignoring the cops that were about to arrest them. Hayley could see silhouettes of officers running towards the store door.

Hayley sighed and just accepted failure as April continued to be an idiot before the iconic "Freeze!" was shouted from one of the pistol-touting cops. They both raised their hands, and a customized collar made of a special non-metallic alloy was placed around Hayley's neck and a standard issue was given to her partner. These collars prevented them from using their powers to escape. The cops went through the routine and read their rights. Afterwards they were placed in an armored truck which was headed to Coast City Super Powered prison — Hayley's second time, April's eleventh.

Now

Hayley wore a scowl on her face as the two trudged over to where a fight was beginning to brew up. She wasn't even excited for it, right now she still hadn't gotten over the fact that April had basically single-handedly landed them both here. She was depressed and angry, her recent arrest made her seem like an unprofessional and a joke.

"Ooh, lookie cookie!" April stood on her tippy toes and saw that someone had stepped up and gotten in the way of the bully. Despite the hero of the situation being smaller in size, the two girls could tell by the way that everyone looked at her and her aura of confidence that she was by no means an underdog. April broke into a weird gallop to arrive there in time to catch the action as Hayley sighed and followed behind.

A tall, overweight woman in the guard station adjusted her glasses and frowned at the scene. The prisoners were about to start rumbling, and the other guards didn't seem to care. Clearing her throat, she spoke up, her voice soft and accented with Spanish. "Should we break them apart? They will hurt each other."

In response, the guards nearby laughed. "Calm down, pretty mamita. As long as there are no weapons involved, let 'em do whatever. Half of them don't even have families. No one gives a crap."

"...fine." The woman sighed, adjusted her glasses, and went back to watching.

In truth, Kijani Ryane couldn't care less if the inmates hurt each other. These women were lucky enough to have a head up on the competition with their powers, but they were too stupid to avoid capture. Still- there was bound to be a few gems among the common herd. This wasn't the first time Kijani had pulled the 'new guard' con. Some forged paperwork and an overworked staff too busy to ask questions, and she was in. She could look at criminal records, power sets, and see the personalities of the women with the skills. All of that so she could pick and choose who would make useful compatriots. Once she made her choices, she'd arrange a transfer to another prison, then she and the other women would be gone into the morning dust. It had worked twice so far, and the only complications were that her choices were ultimately failures. Petty women who couldn't think their way out of a paper bag...

The large one serving cafeteria slop seemed like that type. Dimwitted and unoriginal. The woman that she was accosting seemed a bit more of a bright spark, though. She couldn't fight worth a damn, but at least was doing enough not to get completely crushed. Perhaps with some learning, the woman could learn to keep aware of her surroundings and not get herself into corners.

Something unexpected happened then. A well built woman stepped up, apparently looking to take the place of the other. Kijani wasn't sure if the husky woman with the formal speech was being charitable, or just looking for a good fight.

As if seeing the fire burn in her eyes, the mannish woman backed down with a "Pfft. She ain't even that important anyway." Sapphire looked at her savior from behind. She must have been here for awhile to have garnered such a reputation. As she turned around, she realized who she was. Clash. She and Supergirl had a fight that leveled a couple blocks worth of Coast City. Slowly catching her breath, she inquired why she decided to step in.

"What...gives..?"She said in between shallow breaths. "I didn't need...your help..."She said quickly asserting her authority over the situation. Her version of a thank you. She got up and dusted off her orange jumpsuit, while turning to a female guard. "And you saw that happening and you didn't do a thing?"She spat. She was big and tall enough to halt that fight without breaking a sweat. She rolled her eyes, as soon as she figured her way out of here they'd all be in for a surprise. Flipping her hair she walked past some weak nerdy looking girl and grabbed her tray of food and took a seat next to two girls who were probably unlookers during the whole scene, still eying her.

"I know i'm pretty, but there's no need to stare." She snarled and started to pick at her food. Moping she said audibly, "I need out of this hell hole..."

In her mind, Hayley shouldn't be here. Most of the surrounding inmates were absolute morons; they insulted her trade with their poor intellect and even their mere presence. It was also an ultra rarity when she was caught in the act of committing a felony. She'd only been arrested twice, including the most recent crime. Both instances were entirely April's fault. Sometimes Hayley wondered why she even bothered befriend her; April's childishness and insubordinance often proved to be a huge nuisance. Yet, she does have a brutal and evil (also not to mention criminally insane) mind that gives her a dangerous edge and has shown to be useful in the past...

Hayley continued to ponder her and April's friendship when the girl who had just recovered from almost being beat-down walked over to their table. "I know I'm pretty, but there's no need to stare."

April, being her disobedient self, stared unblinkingly at the girl who had just sat down with them. Her dismay made it all the more entertaining. April leaned forward, smelling Sapphire's hair and then quickly recoiling before she could retaliate. "Your hair smells nice," April reassured, tilting her head sideways in creepy fascination. She opened her mouth to say something else, but Hayley cut her off before she managed to spit it out. "You said something about getting out of here. Any ideas?" Hayley's quick interjection made April shut her jaws.
