The US Cadbury is manufactured by Hershey, if I'm not mistaken. Hershey is not nearly as good as the actual Cadbury brand chocolate.

I don't know what causes it. Flavour? Texture? I just can't stomach it, but at least it helps me stay fit.

Yeah some people taste certain things differently for w.e physiological reasons.
