So, as an idea - with the last tournament of the calender year being considered the biggest I'm thinking of a few ideas to promote even more fights.

1) First tournament will be considered a Rookie tournament. I've watched Hajime no Ippo and that's where the idea comes from. Winner gets 200 points, flat. Or, 50 points per win. That's something to be discussed. For tournaments I'm not a huge fan of giving points for every tournament win. Winner is also automatically given a spot in the year end tournament. Limited to people with 1000 points or less. Or! Last 8 people in terms points. If possible, I'll see if we can get special titles like 'Rookie King/Queen of the Arena'

2) Second/Third tournament: Can be simple or 'themed'. Specific genre, style, etc.

3) Final Tournament: Will be the big tournament 500 points victory spoils(plus ability to jack dead/disabled opponent of ONE item to use through tournament and afterwards). Limited to top 7 fighters(8th will be decided based on the Jan. Tournament). Winner will be crowned 'King of the Arena' for a year. To take off from @ImportantNobody's idea, this will count as a season/year end of us.

4) We may end up holding some type of award(votes based off nominations and arena participants); maybe IC. Potential season premiere and introduction of lifetime points). I'll see if we can get King/Queen of the Arena special titles

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Will also be going through and messaging people who haven't been active, giving them a week to respond before moving them down the ranks to move active people up, or completely off

Some good ideas. The rookie tournament would have to go off of last year's lowest 8 because few people would have a lot of points at the start of the year anyways. The lowest 8 people who have participate in a battle, that is, or else we'd have a ton of people tied for lowest 8.

Fine for deciding tied for lowest 8 who'd like to participate, but taking from last year's score is still the best option from my opinion. Not sure if that's an agreed point or not.

I would need to remember.

Though an issue I will run into that your idea, tweaked, would help is the last 8 after a reset

Last tourney of the season should be the big one. I agree with that. The themed tourneys are a good idea and will allow characters in those genres to face off against others in the same vein.

So I messaged some people who are on the rankings, but haven't had a fight/had a fight for a while, the list will be updated again each day to reflect any changes. At the end of the week, more people will be removed based of responses/lack thereof.

Speaking of which, I still haven't fought here.
Since the challange with Skallagrim went cold I'm looking for a new fight.
Anyone wishes to fight Lynx?

Alternatively, I may introduce another guy.
Kazuma could be fun but I would seem like the odd one out here with that.
So instead I resurrect an old character of mine in new form.

You can find pretty much any fight, or any type or level. It's all down to how you negotiate.

I was pretty much openly asking people if they wish to fight Lacuna Lynx.
Admittedly, this method isn't the most effective.

Go to the CS tab, and judge it from that. See if anyone there has any character you think is a suitable fit for Lynx, and go ahead and throw out a challenge. Eventually, you'll hit paydirt.

The more active of the arena folk are already occupied with fights of their own, so that may be part of why you haven't found an opponent yet.

I guess so.
Not like I have so much time to spare, either.
Anyways, I think I finish my other profiles.

@RillaAre "mastermind" kind of characters who don't fight alone but use something like a personal army are allowed?
That'd be my third character.
Think of a mix of Batman with a classic Bond Villain.

Any kind of character is allowed. We aren't limiting them, but they'd have to be tiered appropriately. Skallagrim just took on a army trained squad alone; but you'd have to realize the NPCs can be killed by the opponent with auto-hits, eventually leaving you alone.

That doesn't sound fair.
I can understand if there are more lax rules regarding NPC fighters but the way you worded it'd mean the enemy character does a random AoE attack and kill everyone but the other player while technically the said soldiers may have means to do something against it.

If i remember right, NPC characters aren't the same as summons. Summons, unlike NPCs, are actually meant to influence combat, instead of simply adding flavor context to it.

They kind of have the same role in a battle, though.
Also rather than NPC characters it's more correct to call mercs and such as "minions".

What i meant is that an NPC is added to enhance the storyline, and that any kind of subordinates your character has will belong to a different category, should they be able to actually influence the fight.

In theory, they can - and in some ways, that's the point. Otherwise, nothing really stops people from making it, effectively a one on -insert number of NPCs/minions.- SKallagrim vs DJAtomika played this out well, but then again, Skallagrim isn't the type to nuke all the NPCs at one time without sustaining some type of damage in the process.

In general, or at least to me, the NPCs/Minions are really different words for the same thing. Random mooks designed to be destroyed. Nothing, however, stops you from controlling the ones you have left to make some type of attack against them - and hope to the high heavens you aren't going up against someone who'll stand toe to toe with 100 minions and defeat them all in a blur that rivals that of the blur in Smallville.
