It just seems a tad ripe for abuse in that sense, seeing as the damage count is purely dictated by each player. In the last board I frequented, there were three judges and they chose the winner based on enjoyment, appropriate post count, grammar, spelling and writing skill, so it was always a fair contest. The victor then got a victory post wherein they could kill the opponent or otherwise end the fight.

Might be a viable option for people who prefer it that way. Just my opinion though.

To me, writing should be the determining factor only when the rest aren't viable. Into WOTW it was set up so that if needed the minor amount of points for writing, could be sort of the swing vote instead of the main. of course, judges would have their own styles I suppose because no matter tyw standard fare, we're all different and would see things differently.

If the folks wanted a normalized grading scale, we could certainly endeavor to make one. Democracy and all.

I like the idea of a separate point system, but ultimately winning a fight tends to sway any judging in your favour regardless.

Like Rilla said, it only tends to become necessary in a stalemate situation.

If a judge feels like a fighter has allowed themselves to lose despite having outshone their opponent in enjoyment, writing skill, and more importantly perhaps fighting as their character, then perhaps they can interject at that point and overrule the victory. There have been times when I've fought opponents who have fought in character so well they have deserved to win, and only lost because they refused to abandon the point of RPing just to win a fight.

It's sort of the equivalent of rewarding the Persians for 'defeating' the Greeks at the hot gates though, technically they did win, but they still lost.

I agree with Tancuras on what I'd want from a judge, but a bunch of different judging styles isn't a bad thing. People can get a judge who judges how they want the fight to be judged. The judges should have some info next to their name in the list saying their judging style if that would be helpful.

To balance the damage score I would take loads of points off if they continually push their luck and refuse to take a hit. Damage may be worth 50%-75% of the score.

I wouldn't mind loosing a battle while actually killing my opponent if they did a lot better in all regards other then the final outcome. Don't know if a judge is allowed such a power though.
