The palace, large and imposing as it had always been since its construction, held a special sort of unspoken tension that day. The very ornaments almost seemed to be watching for something. Something big. Though it housed many demons and often had countless more entering, exiting, and going about many forms of important work, it seemed as if a large portion of it had been cleared, as if in preparation for something. Most of the guards and such were outside, or in the outer portions of the structure, leaving the throne room and surrounding halls practically empty.

In the silence of the throne room, a lone figure stood turned away from the door, looking into a spherical crystal perched in a silver basin of water. Shivering slightly, the young man pulled the heavy robe of the previous kings a little tighter around his shoulders, keeping his wings in close underneath. As he pulled on the gauntlets for the great event he anticipated, he stared intently into the orb in front of him, hoping to catch a glimpse of his expected guest using the magical scrying properties it held. It made him nervous to think about the situation at hand, but at least it wasn't all bad. For the first time, he'd get to see them up close.

It was not every day that one met up with their destiny, but Wrenna had been working towards this day for all nineteen years of her life. She was about to fulfill the prophecy and save all of humanity. Truth be told, she had never expected to get this far, not past her first trial, and she certainly wasn't expecting to get into the heart of the demon realm. Studying those illusion and cloaking spells sure had paid off. She had actually expected a lot more fighting at this point, but getting to the castle had been the most mundane part of the journey thanks to her spells and sneaking past the busy guards was also pretty easy as well...it was almost disappointing. But then the feeling of unease began to creep over Wrenna as she started to explore the castle looking for the king...there weren't really any demons in here...nearly all the guards were outside preparing for something, which wasn't Wrenna's concern. "Maybe I'll even get out of here alive..." She told herself as continued down the quiet corridors.

Wrenna hadn't expected to be able to make it out of the demon castle after she killed the king, mainly cause she thought the castle would be much busier and someone would find the body quickly and then would find her before she could escape. At this rate, she might be able to make it far, far away from the castle before anyone discovered what she had done...will do. She hadn't killed the king yet. She already ready had her sword out as she wandered around the empty halls when she noticed what looked to be a grand door of some sort. She couldn't be quite sure, but perhaps it was the king's room? She crept closer and closer to it and thankfully it was opened enough to peer inside so that what she did. Wrenna could see an empty room...saved for a long guy in a king's robe. Finally. She had found him.

Wrenna paused, wondering. Should she try to stealthily kill the king, or try to induce some sort of grandeur battle. Common sense told her she should go with the stealthy approach, but hero's usually had some sort of battle that people would sing about for ages. 'Ugh. Why was it so hard to pick one?" Wrenna thought to herself as she started to quietly get into the room and close the door behind her. She had to pick now...

"I've come to vanquish you villain." Wrenna had lived her life by the prophecy up till now, she might as well have some epic battle to go along with it.

The demon barely held back a yelp, honestly startled by the announcement of the girl's arrival. He hadn't seen her position through the crystal, having still been trying, and at that second, failing to track her. He had no idea she was so close until she entered the room and said something. Trying his best to compose himself, he turned to face her, revealing a very pale face.

"Oh, y-you're here! Welcome! Or, um..." The boy's eyes widened a bit and he trailed off a bit awkwardly as he took in the girl's appearance. Despite having imagined this moment so many times, it seemed that he still wasn't quite as ready as he thought he would be. "Ah...welcome. It's nice to finally meet you, great hero." Even as he stood there, just making the introductions, he could feel himself shaking. Was he doing alright? He hadn't made too terrible an impression yet, had he? The ceremonial cloak seemed so heavy... "I am the current head of the Dizoralth line, the king of this realm. I've been waiting for you."

There...was something wrong here. Wrenna could tell from the second he realized that she was in there. The way he was moving was all wrong and his statue in general wasn't right either. He was...small. Not height wise but in mass. Wasn't the demon king supposed to be this fierce mighty guy? But...here he was, looking like the weight of his robe was going to make him fall down, pale as the moon (a trait that she had seen in no demon before him and made him look sickly), he was shaking like a leaf and...he just didn't look the part. He wasn't even saying anything menacingly. Sure, what he was saying might be good villain martial if he didn't stutter and actually said it in the right tone, but this guy was as nervous as could be!

"Really? You're the demon king?" Wrenna asked after a few moments of confusion. "No no, you can't be. You're so...tiny and meek. The prince?...No you can't be that either..You must be some sort of stand in? A ruse! Yes! That must be it! You're a distraction to keep me from the real king! Tell me where he is this instant!" Wrenna demanded as she started to take a few steps towards the shaking demon.

"Eh?" The boy froze for a second in slight confusion. Was it really that hard to believe? "No, no. I am the demon king. You're supposed to fight me now or something. T-that was what you wanted, right? Did I do it wrong?" Quickly, he moved back to the throne behind him and picked up a medium-sized book sitting on one of the armrests, taking a moment to search through it before he placed it back down. "No! Yes! This is correct!" He turned back to the girl striding toward him. "I am the demon king you seek, and you are the hero I have long waited for. Our battle has been foretold of long ago...I'm sure." Pointing a clawed hand covered by the battle gauntlets at the hero in question, he continued. "Today, we shall bring the prophecies of ages past to fruition, and one of us shall defeat the other to claim victory."

It felt good, in a way. Even with the ever-present fear, a slight rush of adrenaline began to course through his system as he prepared himself for the coming fight.

"No!" Wrenna told him. "I'm not fighting you! I mean look at you! If I breathe on you, you might fall over! You're not the one I'm meant to fight! Father said that this was supposed to be a battle that even the gods couldn't help but to watch, but you're so...weak. Why are the other demons following you?! Maybe that's what they're doing out there, getting ready for a coup! I can't take on an entire army by myself! It's supposed to be over if I defeat you but how can beating you stop a whole realm if you're like this! They probably already have someone lined up to take your place!" Wrenna shouted at him. She went up to him and grabbed him by his fancy cloak and pulled him so his face was close to hers. "This isn't the prophecised fight! Father said...this isn't how he said it would be!" Wrenna told him before pushing him down into his throne, still gripping her sword tightly. "Can you even fight!?"

The young demon couldn't help but flinch a bit at the rebuke he received. "Th-that's so mean...I'm not that bad..." As he was grabbed and pushed back, though, there wasn't all that much that he could do but wait nervously for her to finish. The whole rant wasn't part of the plan as far as he knew.

"O-of course I can fight! What kind of demon king would I be if I couldn't?" Even as he answered the question, he could feel the anxiety getting stronger. Every worry he had before was slowly trying to crowd his mind again, to get him to back down.

He couldn't, though. This was his fight. He could do this, he had to do this! "Both of our lives have built up all the way to this moment! I won't hesitate!"

"That's so mean!?" Wrenna exclaimed when she heard that. For the love of all that was holy...a demon king was not supposed to say that...She took a deep breath. This wasn't getting her anywhere. Right now, this was the demon king as no one else was around to rebuke his claims and while this was not how her father described it, this would have to be the fight...at least for now.

"Okay King," Wrenna said as she took a couple of steps back, noting the look of worry sill in his face as he put on a brave expression, "Let's get this over with." With that she pointed her sword at him and waited for him to make the first move.

Seeing her prepared to finally fight him, the young demon stood up quickly from the throne. "Right! Once and for all, let's settle this!"

Removing the cloak and letting it drop down to the floor behind him, the sudden lightness surprised him almost into losing his balance as the armor beneath came into view. For the most part, it should have looked quite impressive despite its fairly simple design. The few metal plates protecting areas like the shoulders and the very center of the chest were adorned with swirling designs and dark red gemstones, some parts coming out in protrusions resembling small blades or spikes.

Unfortunately, while the black straps holding much of it together were clearly meant to emphasize exposed muscles on the chest, arms, legs, and abdomen, it also showed a very skinny frame on the boy, not at all like one would expect for a fighter. Or anyone hoping to survive so much as a few punches, for that matter. The dark wings and tail seemed much stronger, but overall, he seemed rather out of place in a fight.

Despite his sickly looking appearance, he seemed determined to rise to the challenge, using his wings to push him into the air and propelling himself off the back of the throne towards the girl, metal-enforced claws extended.

The more Wrenna saw of this boy, the less impressed she was. The cloak must have almost been to much for him cause he almost lost his balence when he finally took it off. And the armor did more to make Wrenna feel impressed towards the craftsman that made it rather then Soreth. Actually, it made him look a lot tiner. The most impressive aspect of him were his wings and tail which looked healthier then the rest of him. Of course, Wrenna herself wasn't to majestic or mighty looking in her simple armor, but she had plenty of muscle and a healthy complexion so she felt pretty confidant right now.

Wrenna watched as Soreth launched into the air and then start straight towads her, claws outstreched. Sure, the guy wasn't very strong, but sharp metal didn't need much force to be deadly. Wrenna jumped out of the way of the charge and then turn to run at him as he continued in his path, hoping to attack him from behind.

Having missed his target, the demon turned around quickly after landing on the floor, jumping back and towards his right to avoid the next attack. Keeping the gauntlets crossed in front of him for a little extra defense, he readied himself mostly to dodge whatever blows came next. At the very least, he decided that his best bet was to not get hit, then worry more about retaliating.

Wrenna tried swinging at him as Soreth tried to dodge. The metal of her sword scraped the metal of his gauntlets though as he moved out of the way. Wrenna had to admit, for such a sickly looking guy he was fast. Wrenna had to do something about that. "Thundra!" She yelled as she shot lighting at him, hoping to paralyze him, maybe take out his wings at least.

Soreth's eyes widened as the lightning was called forth, barely managing to mutter a spell of his own under his breath in time. "Reflect." Flicking a wrist in front of his face, he called up the temporary translucent barrier to send the attack away before it could cripple him. Once he was no longer threatened by the electric attack, he dashed past her in a slashing attempt with his claws, trying not to stay too close for too long now that he knew of the spell.

Wrenna should have expected the Soreth to know some spells. It was too bad one of those spells had to be a reflect spell. Wrenna had to dodge out of the way when it was reflected back at her, to busy to notice Soreth was coming back at her till it was almost too late. She felt the tips of his claws cut across the skin of her upper left arm. The cuts weren't too deep and probably wouldn't leave any lasting damage other than a scar (that is unless the claws were poisoned...) but Wrenna knew she had to step it up. She rushed after Soreth, using a wind type spell to push her from behind and speed her up to catch up with him as she swung her sword at him again.

Spinning back to face the girl, the boy prepared to dodge the next attack only to be surprised by the speed boost she gave herself. Though he blocked the oncoming attack with one of the gauntlets, the force was still enough to send him across the floor. He began to feel even more grateful for the wings and tail as he used them to help recover his balance before making a few more motions with his other hand, muttering a string of words under his breath.

Wrenna cursed under her breath as she watched Soreth get sent across the room relatively unhurt. The speed boost hadn't given her to much of an advantage. He was good at defensive spells making him more annoying then hard to deal with. Wrenna paused for a moment when she heard him start to say something. Another spell? She had no idea how powerful this guy was spell wise. From what she saw so far he wasn't very powerful but she also thought this battle would only take a minute so it was time to stop underestimating him so much.

Wrenna quickly decided that speed wise she probably wasn't a match for him alone. So she quickly casted an illusion spell, making two clones of herself. These clones couldn't physically attack him, but if Soreth couldn't figure out which one of her was the real one, she might be able to get a attack in. Of course, the clones could only take one hit so she had to hope he didn't hit one or herself before she got a hit on him. Once the clones were ready they all charged at him.

The spell wasn't complete before the girl and her copies charged him, and he knew that he wouldn't be able to avoid all their attacks. Even if only one was solid, he wasn't in any state of mind to calmly reason it out, not with them already so close. Choosing one at random, he lunged forward, springing up to tear towards the face with his right hand.

As the blow connected, he flinched a bit, almost as if he already regretted the decision. The girl he hit vanished, however, being only one of the clones.

Wrenna didn't realize how much of a gamble the tactic she chose was until she saw Soreth stab at the face of her clone. Perhaps if the one he had tried to stab at was her, she could have blocked it. That didn't matter now though. Wrenna quickly used another wind spell, along with her last clone, shortly after his hit connected with the now destroyed clone, to send them both at Soreth. With a little bit of luck, she would be able to hit him hard enough to end this.

When the clone vanished, a slight sense of relief washed over him for a split second. It would have been terrible if he had...
Whatever thought was going through his mind was immediately interrupted by the swift approach of the remaining clone and its creator. Spitting out the last words like a tongue twister, he fell back to get a bit more distance for just a second longer before his eyes lit up with the charge he had finally built.

"Vault."

At the moment he had expected the blow to connect, he found himself a mere few paces behind Wrenna, feeling slightly disoriented, but significantly less dead than he would likely have been if he was still in his past position. Not willing to risk being stabbed or slashed again and hoping to avoid wasting too much energy on his last second dodge technique again, he took to the air one more and made another few hand motions. "Diamond Dust"

With a wave of his arm, a rain of large ice shards flew toward the general direction of the girl and her copy, not aimed too specifically, but relying more on numbers to connect with anything.

"Damnit! Stop moving around!" Wrenna yelled at the guy when she saw him suddenly teleport away from her attack. She had to quickly shift around to where her feet would connect with the wall and she could safely bounce off. she quickly straightened up and scanned the room for Soreth again to see him standing back where she had come from, summoning ice shards. "FIRA!" Wrenna quickly shouted as the shards started to come towards her. Most of them melted and she was able to block a few with her sword. The ones that managed to get past all of that had lost their sharpness. They were like hail balls, they hurt and would probably leave bruises but weren't deadly. "Thundra!" Wrenna yelled quickly once the thread of getting pierced by ice was gone. She wanted this done and over with now.
