[OOC] Maximum Ride: The Secret

DNA: Swift + Iberian Lynx
Mutations/Abilities - Fast Flight, Heightened Eyesight, light bones, quick turns and high speed due to Swift DNA. Dark black marks under eyes almost like eyeliner from the lynx, heightened sense of hearing, more agile, sharp incisors and quick reflexes. Tracker and subtle empath.
Personality: Cheerful, hes almost always upbeat yet serious, he can be described as trustworthy and honest. When he is angry, he's usually very dangerous and hard to calm down. He can often be found patrolling the group making sure all is well as he is pretty protective of all of them.
Biography: Link was made to track down the Flock no matter the circumstances. Growing up with the rest of the kids they soon called him Link due to his eyes having the black markings and the green of the Lynx.
Extras: His wings are grey on the outside and white on the bottom.

She has a pair of ears the same color of her hair as well as a tail. She also has small fangs like a feline and her nails can contract like a cats, changing from normal human nails to sharp points.

Mutations/Abilities

Hummingbird Attributes
Much like a Hummingbird, she is able to fly up, down, forward, backward and sideways as well as hover mid-air. However, also like a Hummingbird she has a high metabolism and must consume a large quantity of food to keep her energy up.

Ocelot Attributes
~ She has the keen sight of an Ocelot. To keep this in check, she wears specially altered glasses to make her sight normal, if a bit better than a normal humans.
~ She has the sharp hearing of an Ocelot.
~ She also is able to climb tree quite well and she is good at swimming.
~ She is quite small for her age but she is very light and agile on her feet

Other Mutations
~ Solar Constructs~ She is able to create objects/items with her energy.

~ Estelle is terrified of the dark, storms, or loud noises in general.
~ When she becomes nervous she has a habit of fidgeting with her hair or glasses.

Generally a quiet girl, Estelle normally fades into the background. She is the kind of person who prefers to take the pictures, not be in them. She is usually a very passive and kind person. Being as sensitive as she is, she does not like violence and tries to avoid any and all conflict. She is an easy-going person and very agreeable. She tends to blurt a lot of things out without realizing it or thinking about her words. She also gets embarrassed and flustered way too easily; often blushing and hiding her face. She is somewhat of a klutz, managing to trip over her own feet more often than not. However, she can be very stubborn if she feels like it. She also puts others needs before her own and in most cases she reacts without thinking of her own well-being: if someone is being hurt, Estelle will immediately try and protect them with any means possible without even considering herself.

Generally, Estelle only ever talks if she is either spoken to. Other than that she stays quiet. However, just because she is not participating in the conversation, doesn't mean she isn't paying attention; rather, she is choosing to listen and learn.
Estelle got her name from a book she found and liked the sound of it so she kept it.

She was raise along side the others and her primary reason for being created was for tracking down the Flock. She excels in stealth. For the most part, she kept to herself and didn't really interact with the others. When the escape happened, she took her chance and got away with the rest of the group and has been their quiet companion ever since.

For the metabolism thing, I had something similar but I was going to make it so that she couldn't handle meat or really anything except for high-sugar fruits and other such things. Is that different enough? I was also going to give her some sort of aerobatics ability, like changing flight directions really fast, and an overall high air-speed. Would that be okay?

How about no solid foods? Just fruit juices, maybe? It would be terribly impractical, buuuut.... Hmm.
And maybe she's a clumsy hummingbird? I've never heard of one, but then no aerobatic capabilities for her. Just the fast flightspeed and often-as-not crashing into things.

Go right ahead, I don't mind at all. With the description I mean.

As with the bird species I'd rather not two of the same kind of bird right bow though as long as they're different species and don't have the same powers I don't mind. It would make more sense if the two were related in some way though.

Hold on, there are lots of species of hummingbird... Are we using species in the colloquial sense as in, kind of critter, or in the scientific sense, as in, Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species? Because if that's the case, I was going to claim Mellisuga Helenae (The Bee Hummingbird), which is only one specific kind of hummingbird... What hummingbird species is Estelle?

@RomanAria I personally was under the assumption that it was simply a matter of avoiding using the colloquial term when choosing a particular bird and that bird must be a specific species, which was one half of the reason I made sure to state what particular type of hawk I was using in case someone also wished to use a hawk. At this point what this seems like to me is an issue of having more than one character with abilities that are too similar as hummingbirds as a whole are near indistinguishable in their abilities.

If you do consider going for another species of bird, might I suggest something like a species of Bee-Eater? They're gorgeous to look at and are fast and skilled enough to hunt down things like dragonflies and wasps while flying through dense forest. It may not scream "great speed", but it definitely screams "great agility", which can actually be more useful than raw speed in some settings.
