I'm not sure how Evvie would have been able to spread her wings and fly with the water blade heading straight for her back as it would collide with her wings even faster than her spine. It is moving slower, but it's still moving very quickly, arguably faster than Evvie can notice her staff defence has failed and bounce back into the air.

It also wouldn't be holding onto her staff at all, as you mention it encumbering her. Though that could have been a possible attack it's not what I went for.

Aha! That's what was wrong with the different between it wrapping the staff or stopping at her spine. I forgot. Well, it was mostly similar if not for that. I'm half right, sort of.

Guess I should get to editing. The dodging the "whip" thing was explained in my post before last unless there was something wrong in the logic.

Not sure, it will depend on how the post is adjusted, I'm not convinced that dodging outright is going to be possible considering the cause-and-effect situation we have here. It's difficult to commit to defending yourself a certain way and then realise your defence has failed and try something else within a very short space of time.

I'll have to see what IN comes up with.

Committing herself to blocking the initial attack, yes, and even you admit that it was "unsurprisingly" wrapping around, so you might not be giving Evvie enough credit to anticipate that much, having fought a lot and likely fought flexible objects. I can see the way I wrote her blocking it (using the word deflect) seems like she might have been just trying to deflect it away or something, so it's probably my fault on the confusion for not going into further detail and poor word choices.

Just for the record, Evvie could have easily escaped the pillar of water by just flying and burning through the side.
