Squinting anxiously at the illuminated face of his alarm clock resting atop the nightstand near the queen sized bed still rumpled from sleep, Zachary Williams quickly assessed that he had at least a couple of minutes before he needed to head out for his first day of school and consequently wiggled the mouse of his desktop Computer, breaking up the screen saver that had been bouncing bubbles around his screen. Clicking closed the music player that had been blasting forth the latest hits, he hurriedly pulled open the icon for his instant messenger, typing in his password and logging in with a click of the enter key. Almost instantaneously, a list of his friends and contacts replaced the login screen and he instinctively scanned over the usernames for the one he wanted, grinning in a way that made a dimple pop into his left cheek when he saw that she was online. Double clicking the familiar name and causing a message screen to pop open, Zack eagerly typed out a message and sent it off, a little chime sounding as his message was confirmed in the upper screen.
Hey! Glad to see you're on! How are you?
As he waited, Zack bounced his right foot, trying not to look impatient. Absently, he brushed some of the slightly curly sandy hair, too long for his Mom's liking, off of his forehead, out of his faded denim colored eyes, and pulled out his iPod and popped in one of the earbuds. Quickly scrolling through the list of music until he found his favorite playlist and tapped shuffle, guitars and drums almost instantly springing into life. Relaxing back into the computer chair, he listened to the crashing beats, Keeping an eye on the clock as he did so, and waited for his messages to respond.
