Mikone just looked at him. Her eyes wide and her jaw dropped like a stone in a pond. Surely this was an joke.
"I.. I..." She sighed, looking at the kunai then to her own hands. There was no way in hell she'd be able to do that let alone hit a target. Sighing again she closed her eyes and tried to imagine the act of throwing the kunai then hitting a target. In school she'd done just... well not really she struggled in the physical arts. There were rare and wonderful moments when she had manged to hit a target from a distance, now it seemed hell returned to the mortal world in the form of trial by kunai throwing.
The girl picked the weapon, feeling the weight and then the texture in her hand. Sunlight illuminated the area but clouds cut holes in the light except for the small window in the clouds that cast a ray onto the weapon's blade. The reflection in her eyes was it, a sign from the heavens that she would be able to do it, hit the target precisely.
"I can do it." She mumbled to herself, probably not quiet enough since her sensei was a jounin after all. Her fingers were tight around the weapon. Thinking about the gravity of the situation, testing her skills, wasn't going to make a good impression if she couldn't do something so basic. Putting a foot back like the other genin, she focused on the target. Winding up her arm behind her then twisting, she threw it in an attempt to recognize the sign of the heavens. But at the last moment she forced her body forward. The momentum of her arm made her top heavy and so she slipped, loosing whatever balance she'd managed to gain with her stance.
The kunai flew, going quick but also spinning in the air. Mikone didn't see but it was very clear she lacked the skill to throw it without the spin. An audible CLUNK signaled that it bounced off the back, the edge not even piercing the tree's bark. When she turned to see, her confused expression turned sour. One eye twitching, she glared at the projectile. It wasn't even near the correct tree.
"I'm I'm going to die one day cause I can't throw a kunai worth a damn." She said to herself, almost crying with her red blushing face.
