Alright, so I got this idea while I was buying some chicken wings. While I was just standing around, waiting for my order, I thought what would happen when you mix Magic the Gathering, Harry Potter, and Pokemon? So this idea was born.
Everyone in the Academy is given a deck of blank cards and they have to go into Irritum, a plane similar to our own, except its filled with magical creatures and demons, they then use magic to try and capture those creatures into their cards which they can summon to battle at will. The more powerful creatures a person has, the more powerful their own magic becomes; and the more powerful the magic of the user, the easier it is to capture stronger magical creatures.
Now, the world is set in a place where the opposite plane of Irritum, Nocte has been ripped open by a league of powerful mages, releasing all sorts of nasties and destructive creatures. The more powerful creatures of Nocte have not been able to pass through, but they will soon. The world is dying and the last hope that the races have against the monster of Nocte is to use the creatures of Irritum as a last defence. This is where the students come in, and the professors, to teach students how to properly control and use their monsters and creatures to their own benefit.
