[IC] Yugioh: The King's Shadow

Yugi smiled and said "Yami, I'm alright now. Thanks to you and Serena. Go help her, she risked her life for mine...even without her protection. She may need you more then I do right now." He smiled again, back to his old self.

Serena flinched, still in pain as Tea ran back out. "How is she Joey? And who was that hooded guy?" Serena stirred, muttering in her weakened state. "Guardian...the Bane...protect...little prince...have to..." Tea looked at Joey and said "this is bad..." She rested her hand against Serena's cheek and said "she's burning up"

[Jazz]

Yami's eyes widened slightly, mainly out of surprise. His words sinking on. It took him a minute say something, let alone move. But he nodded. "Alright." A smile managed to form on his lip that were kind and seemed to thank Yugi. The former Pharaoh set the cup aside on a table before leaving toward the backyard.

Joey shrugged. "I don't know who that was. If he wasn't wearing a hood I might know. Doubt it though." He replied while still watching Serena. He caught what she said but it didn't really make sense. Joey noticed Tea work her motherly like work worried about this sudden news of her burning up. She did take one hell of a beating after all. However before he could say anything, Yami came outside, walking toward them, kneeling on the other side of Serena. "She isn't doing well is she?"
Joey shook his head. "No. She took one hell of a beating. That creature really wanted her gone. Kaiba and I had issues being able to defend her with her disappearin' and reappearin'. Plus with her back healing and all, Im not surprised. I tried helpin'. I really did." Joey said, feeling that he failed. Yami stood, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Do not fault yourself. I believe you had no idea it was to happen." Joey nodded, fighting any tears that tried to come to the surface.
Yami looked back to Serena. "Lets get her inside. I do not believe there is much we can do for now but help break this fever." Joey came over. "I got her." So he scooped her up into his arms to get her inside.

Tea stood, looking worried. "I'll get the couch ready for her...and cold cloths" she ran inside, Serena turning her head in Joeys arms.

Tea brought in blankets and a ice bowl and Yugi sat up, looking concerned. "Tea, what's going on?" Tea set the things down and said "Serena's in worse shape then we thought. She has a fever and is pretty beaten up" Yugi got up, swaying slightly but said "what can I do?" Tea shook her head as Yami and Joey came in. "I don't know..."

Serena was white, sweat bullets running down her skin. She muttered something unknown as Joey laid her down. Yugi moved over to her, looking worried. "Serena..."

[Jazz]

Yami and Joey followed Tea in after Joey had brought Serena up and then into the house. Yami was no doubt worried, but he was trying to remain calm. Freaking out would do no good. Yami would suggest the hospital but he had no idea if that was a wise idea. Though upon entering the livingroom with the couch cleared and ready for Serena, Joey laid her on the couch. Yami tilted his head. He saw Yugi move over to be next to her as did he. He kneeled next to couch where he could watch her. He wondered what was going on, wondering if this was just a fever due to the strain of her injuries or was it possibly from something else. It bugged him greatly. Seto sat out of the way as Tristen and Duke stayed out of the way as well, clearly worried for Serena as well. But didn't know what to do to help.

Tea knelt down and brought one of the rags out of the bowl and put it on Serena's forehead. She looked at Yami and said "do you want me to stay up with her?" Yugi moved by Yami, resting a hand on his shoulder. "I'll stay with her...she got this way helping me...did she get her pendent back?" Serena shuttered, her eyes moving under the lids

[Jazz]

Yami was rather quiet, his concentration on Serena until he was brought out of it by Tea and Yugi. Feeling the hand of his partner on his shoulder of which he brought his hand to touch to acknowledge his comfort. Hearing their question, Yami felt it could go in turns. Easier so everyone gets decent sleep. But Yami had a feeling he wouldnt be as tired as everyone else. Yami looked to the Pendant in his other hand when Yugi asked about it and nearly forgot. He was more concerned about her health. Moving his hand from Yugi's and leaning over, Yami put the pendant around her neck where it belonged. "I will watch her for now. I would suggest taking turns for its easier for us to get some sleep. I will take the first time when everyone goes to bed. I will not be as tired." Yami suggested to them. "How is Adam?" Yami asked. Having remembering a bit of what happened but remembering Adam's voice.

Tea said "he is up in the office checking data for something...ill fill him in when I head up there" Yugi smiled, looking tired. "I'll stay with you Yami...keep you company" the others agreed with Yamis plan and headed off to bed.

An hour later Yugi was fighting not to fall asleep in the arm chair. Serena was restin fitfully, her head turning every now and again. Her pendent was glowing softly, slowly trying to help her. But her injuries were harsh. Yugi said tiredly "has her temperature come down at all?"

[Jazz]

Yami nodded, understanding and accepting the comfort. He was rather wide awake. He stayed at Serena's side, every now and again when the rag lost the cold feeling, he was would replace it with a new one. He rarely did anything but shift when he became a little uncomfortable but that was about it. He seemed almost rather distant till he would snap out at random times, but never dosed off.

As the hour past, Yami was changing the previous rag for a new one when Yugi asked about her temperature. Yami placed the back of his palm to Serena's cheek, waiting to get an idea. He didn't want to touch her forehead of course since it was where the rags rested to help Serena. When he had an idea he would tell Yugi, though not exactly acting himself if one would notice. Yami didn't seem to notice really.

It was going going slightly. But Yugi sat up and said "Yami...is everything alright? Your not acting like yourself...is it Serena? Or what happened today?" He got up a and moved to sit by Yami, looking like he was about to fall over

[Jazz]

Sitting there, he seemed to snap out of this trance to see Yugi come over and almost falling over. He pulled Yugi over into his lap only to cover Yugi's mouth and touch Yugi's neck with the recently cold hand while the pharaoh wrapped his legs over the boys own so he wouldnt kick anything. He only covered Yugi's mouth was to keep him from screaming and waking everyone, including Serena. It was a sudden mischievous move but hoped now Yugi was a bit more wide awake. Yami couldn't help but grin.

Yugi cried out then pushed the Kings hand away. "What was that for? I could have woken the whole block with that kind of trick?" Serena stirred slightly and Yugi looked back at Yami. "What's going on in your head, Yami...you can tell me"

[Jazz]

Yami let the boy go when he pushed his hand out of the way only to put a hand over his own mouth, trying not to laugh when seeing Yugi's expression. He only calmed down after a moment. "I am sorry Yugi. I was only trying to help you stay awake since you were about to fall. I could not resist." He told his partner. His composure soon returning. He though knew he could speak about his mind with Yugi. It was that he could trust Yugi and one of the few he could say anything and Yugi would listen since they had shared a body for many years. "I have been concerned about a great many things Yugi. Some you well know. I have been concerned about you. For the times i cannot be there and you do not have my power or a millennium item to protect you from certain dangers. I know that you are strong but my worry will be there. I have also seemed to have a hole is my memory from earlier this morning. I cannot seem to remember what happen after Serena protecting you from that attack To when I helped you. Even that is a blur. And im worried about Serena. This is the third day perhaps and she has been wounded so much that no matter how hard we try she is more hurt than we are. There is hardly anything we can do." Yami vented out to his friend. Only to take a breath when he was finished for the moment. He thought he would do this sections at a time. But those were his top concerns.??

Yugi listened carefully, nodding at the end and saying "well if it helps, after Serena was attacked you kinda...went all king of games on that creature. You sent him back to the shadows and then we got Serena to the ER. After we waited for Serena and then you went to see her. That's where you passed out and fell asleep. We brought you home while Serena and Joey went to handle some things...after that you know" Yugi looked at Serena and said "you know...it's almost like she tries to take hits for us...like its her duty to protect you at any cost...I'm not sure even she knows why. I think it has something to do with whoever this Guardian is..." Yugi yawned then said "you don't need to worry about me. After today, I think they will think twice before going after me. And I have Mahad to watch over me when your not there...so what else is bothering you?"

[Jazz]

Yami listened to Yugi about what had happened though found it odd that he did not remember. Maybe his subconscious somehow did not want himself to see it? It did not seem to make matters any better

Yami though seemed to have something else bugging him. "I do not understand why out of everything why my memories are nor complete. How i somehow knew this and not told any of you till recently. Why I dont remember all of my past." Yami closed his eyes tight. Seemed to be a little frustrated. "I dont understand why and the more i try to figure it out, the more it troubles me, worry me even. It is the most complicated puzzle I have ever solved."

Yugi thought for a few minutes then said "maybe it's why you felt you needed to stay...maybe you needed to find someone...maybe her" he looked at Serena. "You both have a tie to the past some how. She needs us as much as we need her. From what Joey told me, she's been fighting on her own for a long time...there has to be a reason she shows up now. That warrior that helped snap me out of that spell, you said you knew her from somewhere...maybe that's the key."

[Jazz]

Yami slowly opened his eyes, hearing Yugi's thoughts as to this whole thing. Deciding to calm himself, the Pharaoh nodded slowly. "Maybe. Guess we will have to wait to know more till we see Malik and Ishizu." Yami said. He stretched his aback and limbs to the best of his ability, hearing a few pops which felt good, looking back to Serena. "Hopefully she will be able to get better soon."

Yugi nodded, moving hair from her face. "You don't think something else is wrong do you? Like that woman did something to her..." Yugi looked at Serena, then said "when I woke up...she had Serena by the throat...you don't think she did something to her at that point do you?"

[Jazz]

Thinking about what this information that Yugi gave him, he shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I wouldn't know how to check either. I guess we will just need to wait and see." Yami told him.

Suddenly Serena's pendent flashed red and serena gasped in pain. She rolled over, shaking badly as dark markings started to appear on her skin. Yugi moved back, looking shocked. "Yami, what's happening?"

[Jazz]

SYami looked over to Serena suddenly as the pendant glowed red suddenly. He had no idea what was happening as he noticed the dark markings. "I don't know. I don't know how to help her either." Yami was starting to not only worry but panic a little.
