[IC] Yugioh: The King's Shadow

Serena was sitting up against her head board fast asleep already, her hair in her face.

[Jazz]

Yami smiled at the sight of Serena, moving to the side she is on. Gently, he adjusts her to where she is laying down and her hair out of her face. He goes to the other side and crawls into bed and covers up after scooting close to her. Wrapping his arms around her, he closes his eyes. Ready for what they may find out about what was going on within Serena.

Serena curled into his chest and Banes voice said “this is easier…poor little shadow is so worn out…are you ready my pharaoh?”

[Jazz]

'I am.' Yami confirms, holding her close. His face in buried in her soft hair.

The darkness changed into a dark night at the palace. Zhara was walking thru the buildings, looking around to make sure she wasn’t followed. She walked into one of the temples and called out “Master Seth? Are you here? I am here to report about the brotherhood…”

[Jazz]

Priest Seth came from behind one of the pillars to see Zhara and greets her with a bow. "Lady Zhara, welcome. Follow me to my study. We can talk more there." It was only natural to do so considering the main part of the temple was for worship. Plus they could conduct their business without interruption.

Zhara nodded and followed, pulling her hood up as they passed other people. “Thank you for letting us meet away from the palace…I didn’t want others hearing our discussion…”

"Of course." Going through a hallway, Seth guides her upstairs to a room with many scrolls and tomes. There are two guards on each side of the door from the outside. Letting Zhara enter first before entering and shutting the door. He goes and sits down at the desk. The only light coming from the candles and hanging oil lanterns. He then pulls out a chest of their latest findings and reports as well as a map he pulls out. "What's the latest report of the Brotherhood?" He asks her. Ink and quill ready.

Zhara pulled her hood down and started to pace around, trying to sort her thoughts. “From my last mission, the brotherhood is taking over villages of outer reaches to take slaves to serve their god, which I think I have a theory at last on who it is…” she turned to face him and said “it’s Apep. I believe Apep is trying to take the pharaoh to use his power to free himself from his prison…”

Seth was taking notes on her latest findings, it was when she got to the name of the god that had brought about this cult that made him stop to look up at Zhara with confusion. "Apep?" He hummed in thought. "So now we have beings that want the Pharaoh's life. But we haven't heard from Bakura in sometime. No doubt scheming or letting this Brotherhood do the dirty work for him." Seth sighs as he places a arm on the table and covers his face in frustration.

Zhara walked to him and took his hand in hers. “We will protect him. I will not let anything happen to him. Never. My training and my hidden talents will keep him safe…” her eyes glowed silver for a moment and behind her, her shadow shifted into the shape of the Bane. “We will never fail him…” she moved back and said “and if I must I will release my true power…the power of the Shadow Gate itself…”

[Jazz]

Seth lifted his head to look to Zhara with a studying gaze as she spoke. He knew she took her duties seriously and with much dedication. He knew of the shadow that changes shape. Resting the arm on the table, watches her so.

"I have no doubt you will protect our great pharaoh with your whole being as we all do. Leave your true power till there is much great need for it. It is just frustrating that our foes are still vast a strong. But with the information we have so far, I can conduct the necessary tasks to secure the villages and hopefully rescue any villagers taken."

Zhara nodded and sighed. “Your right…unlocking my own seal might be too much of a risk…I’ll wait till we truly need it. Make sure we can always have a back up. If you need aid with the villages I’d be willing to help. With the new shadow guard in place I think we both feel a little more at easy when the pharaoh is here…” she looked down at her pendent and moved it in her fingers.

“Seth…this god has been after him since he was a boy. I don’t know if Mahad as told you of when we were children the prince at the time was kidnapped…do you know this tale?”

Seth nods, agreeing with her on the process made so far. Placing the quill aside, Seth shakes his head. "I have not. Though I have heard of the Pharaoh having had attempts and a couple kidnappings when he was prince. But I haven't heard of such a tale." Seth mentions.

Zhara moved to sit down and said “when we were young, I was in training with my master at the palace. I had been there for a few new moons when one night I was working on my patrolling skills when I saw something coming out of the young princes window. A black shape holding him, like a black fog made solid. They flew out of the city and I went to get Mahad and mana. I knew the guards wouldn’t be fast enough and the three of us could handle it…we rushed out them and was able to track them down to an abandoned temple south of here. He was already on the alter when we got there. We got him out, but that night…something woke within me. My power triggered in the presence of that…monster. I only told my master the next day…I don’t know if he told the pharaoh about it…”

[Jazz]

Seth placed both arms resting on the table, interlocking his fingers as he resting his chin on them as he listened. "If I be bold for asking, what power are you referring to?" He asks Zhara. Was she referring to the powers she has now? Or something else?

Zhara looked at him and then said “shadow…” her own shadow moved around and took shape of cats around the room. “The shadows answer my call. Without spell work or sacrifice. And they act in my best interest…”

[Jazz]

Seth was intrigued. Seeing these 'Shadow cats' appear throughout the room. It was a interesting power. "I see. This is certainly different from the magic we use."

Zhara nodded and said “I used them that night to pull the prince to safety…they have been with me since…but something else woke that night…a force in my core…it wakes up whenever he is in danger…nothing stops me to be at his side…taking his pain…”

[Jazz]

The young Priest thought he notices something like that, that same night when she attack a man that help the Pharaoh at knife point while Seth himself was being kicked into the dirt. At least that seemed like that happened that way. But he wondered the draw backs. "It almost describes to be like a frenzy of sorts." Though wondering if that sounded too harsh.
