Space in the 23rd century is a lot like the sea was in the 17th century. It takes weeks or months to get anywhere, and many planets, islands of the stars, are ruled by petty kings. We fight these petty kings, raiding their space ships and taking what we want.

We were prisoners, sold as slaves by the corrupt governor of the Lunar penal colony, who told the officials on Earth that they had died in prison fights. The ship, called by its owner the Jamaica, is built like a submarine, a cargo ship designed for stealth, not speed or power. Though it has plasma thrusters for maneuvering and lifting off the surface of moons and other small bodies, its methods of propulsion are sails, specifically a solar sail, which pushes them with light pressure from a nearby star, a tachyon sail, which moves tachyons from the front of it to the rear, compressing space in front of the ship and expanding it behind, and a magnetic sail, which can work as a more powerful version of the others, but will make them visible at 100 times the distance.

Precious metals are the currency of choice in the galaxy, with gold being the most common form of currency. Ships spend weeks or months moving between systems in order to trade their goods for these metals or other valuable goods. They dock at space stations in orbit of worlds and either trade there, or take a space elevator to the surface.

Is there still room for a alien pal? Who got in prison for smuggling? Position I was playing with the idea of navigator if it is free?

My only problem with it is the "undetectable as an android by any means" part, as the only way to make her perfectly indistinguishable would be if she was human.

It has happened before in scifi. Link specifically describes these androids as "physically indistinguishable from humans."

The replicators were composed of nanites. While most scans couldn't distinguish them from human, there were ways of telling them apart, such as shooting them, or using an anti-replicator gun on them.

I was thinking you were something like the BSG cylons. Only high-end medical tests could tell them from humans.

I'll be keeping an eye on this, I'm potentially interested, depending on how the gynoid thing pans out. I will say, it's the GM's world, so bringing in examples of that level of stealth construction in other settings isn't entirely relevant. That something can be conceived doesn't mean it exists at this point in the game.

I'm a fan of big, clunky military tech anyway. I've got a big, very not-subtle and very obviously mostly machine cyborg character in mind for this.

I don't mind stealth robots. In fact, when I write my second character it will be an android (sexbot) designed to act and appear human. I just have a problem with it being completely indistinguishable from humans for four reasons:
1) I guess it's semantics, but if it's indistinguishable from humans, in what way is it not human?
2) It has superhuman strength and reflexes, not to mention blades in its forearms, so not really indistinguishable, just well disguised. Maybe it has devices to confuse sensors and make it look human on scans?
3) How does it know it isn't human if it can't tell the difference?
4) It's kind of OP.

A cyborg would be cool, though.

Cause humans suck.

2) It has superhuman strength and reflexes, not to mention blades in its forearms, so not really indistinguishable, just well disguised.
All androids that are psychically indistinguishable from humans be they Cylons or human-form Replicators are extremely well disguised androids. That is like saying the sky is blue.

3) How does it know it isn't human if it can't tell the difference?
Watching videos of her "birth" in a manufacturing plant tends to prove one is not human if one were inclined to believe that.

My basic argument is this:
1) All objects have critical properties and non-critical properties.
2) If all of two objects critical properties are identical, then they are both the same type of object.
3) "Indistinguishable by all means" means that everything that can be tested for, including all critical and non-critical properties, are identical to humans, or at least within acceptable range. If that is the case, then she is human.
4) If, instead, her critical properties weren't all identical to a humans, but she is disguising them somehow, then she could still be an android.
5) We know she has several properties which humans tend to not have, though they could be considered non-critical, as a cyborg could also be a human and have them.

How is she made? Is she made of nanites? A skeleton, blood, and synthetic flesh? Nanite-constructed organic flesh? Whatever the method, there are likely discrepancies that can be located.

Oh, yeah. I was waiting for you to fix it, then forgot about it. Yeah, it's good.

I guess I'll start this tonight.
