I've been wanting to do a Dangan Ronpa RP for awhile now, but I've noticed that most seem to die off because how hard it is to find over a dozen active dedicated roleplayers. So, I was thinking that a 1x1 RP could work. I actually am doing one with a friend at the moment, but it's very casual and slow-paced, especially recently since he's been pretty busy irl. Despite that, it has worked pretty well, so I was hoping that I could set up another with someone here.
The way it would work is, the both of us would create eight characters a piece. Of those eight, we each get a co-protagonist character, who generally help lead during the story, investigations, and trials. During each chapter, one of us leads as that chapter's protagonist, and goes through free time events and generally have their character as the main point of view during story events. While the other controls Monobear, sets up the motive, and devises up the murder, investigation, trial, and execution. They lay out all the evidence for the protagonist to search for (with help from all of the other characters of course), and then throw obstacles at the protagonist to solve such as Non-Stop Debates, Epiphany Anagrams, Cross Swords Arguments, Logic Dives, and Machine Gun Talk/Bullet Time Battles. Once a chapter ends, we switch roles.
I have a basic outline for a overall story arc, and have a mastermind already in mind. Because of that, I will control Monobear during the final chapter. The role swap would pretty much look like this.
Chapter 1 Monobear: Me (basically as a tutorial chapter to show how it'll work)
Chapter 2 Monobear: You
Chapter 3 Monobear: Me
Chapter 4 Monobear: You
Chapter 5 Monobear: Me
Chapter 6 Monobear: You
Chapter 7 Monobear: Me (the final chapter and battle against the mastermind)
Seven chapters seems a little out of place, but I figured it would be best so that we could have an equal amount turns planning out murders and challenging each other at trials.
Also, I know eight different characters is quite a lot to handle, in terms of having to create that many as well as having to keep track of them all. However, the character sheet (which I'll post later) is pretty short, as most of the fleshing out will happen during the RP. And not all characters have to be active at all times; generally, only the ones around the protagonist characters have to be active, though side interactions between characters are of course welcome.
As for setting, it'll basically be an American Hope's Peak. That way we can be more diverse in the types of characters we have. Well, that, and also I just really don't know much about Japan and Japanese culture, aha.
If anyone is interested, I just ask that you be active and adaptable. I'm not asking for speed posting or anything like that, but I'd like for you to be able to post at least a few times a week. As for being adaptable, I want us to be able to improv and play ideas off of each other. Even though I ultimately will be controlling the mastermind and have a couple plot twists in store, I love being able to bounce ideas around and overall being able to communicate with my RP partners.
