[IC] BattleCorp™: Combatant Creator

After hellish amounts of paperwork, most of it involving insurances and wills, you're finally here. A huge, empty room, its pure white walls reflecting part of the clear light given from some long lamps hanging from the ceiling. BattleCorp™'s training room, equipped with many, many gadgets and gizmos in order to provide the most realistic combat situations.

A sound can be heard from the floor in front of you as the panels slide and small, black rectangular box rises, attached to a gray, metallic pole. It begins playing some music while a dense mist starts to pour from the back of this object. Suddenly, it speaks:

- "Welcome, future heroes, to BattleCorp™'s special Training Suite! I am the Head Summoner, and I will be in charge of turning you into the legends you aspire to be! I'll be watching you as you fight, in order to see your weak points and eliminate them. I'll make sure you turn into the pride of this corporation, no. No, no, no, no..." -The box's voice seems to grow excited as it speaks- " Nor only of this corporation... The pride of your city... Of your country! OF YOUR GENERATION! I'LL TURN YOU INTO THE PRIDE AND GLORY OF THIS UNIVERSE!!!!"

The voicebox pauses for some moments to catch its breath

- "Ahem. Now! This will be your first fight, and I made sure that this creature is on par of your current abilities..."

The object that apparently is the Head Summoner detaches from the post and flies towards a corner far away from the room. The pole starts to go back down while spewing more of that fog, making it accumulate on the floor.

- "Ladies and gentlemen..."

The fog starts to dissipate, as a figure appears to occupy the place the Head Summoner was before...

- "I present you..."

It's almost clear now. You can see small traces of shades of green.

- "... a bush."

Among the group of to-be combatants was a man, aged in his thirties, of sinewy build, with pointed face and stubble. He wore over his normal clothes a brown overcoat. His eyes darted around the room and also to the rest of the group as they entered, scanning for any hint of danger, and his hands drifted beside his waist. When the box emerged he tensed and his hands slipped past his overcoat and revealed two holstered pistols, on which his hands were now resting on, but had not yet drawn.

This was David Pierce. If any of the other combatants had tried conversing with him before entering, they would have gained no personal information from him aside from his name, and even that would have been given hesitantly.

When Pierce was content that the box was no immediate threat, he relaxed slightly, although his hands had not moved. He did roll his eyes and give a grunt as the box attempted to sound dramatic and motivational, although he did not interrupt. When the box did move, and started preparing whatever it was that they were going to fight, Pierce slowly drew one pistol, clicked off the safety and held it steadily pointing at the place where the enemy would emerge, his finger resting against the trigger, ready to squeeze at a moment's notice. However, this high degree of alertness seemed to have gone to waste, as the fog cleared and revealed that the opponent was a plant- immobile, harmless, a bit anticlimactic, really.

Pierce's eyes darted around the room once more, checking for some trap, some surprise, some ambush, but he could see none. The Head Summoner seemed to be serious. Pierce shrugged, then fired twice into the base of the bush, the gunshots echoing across the hard, flat-walled room.

"Something's not right here, this is too easy," Bumblebee thought to herself, quickly moving to flank the Bush as she carefully examined if from every angle she could, trying to gauge what special properties or abilities it may have, while at the same time separating herself from the rest of the group to prevent them all being taken out with one attack.

Finally, with no other options available to her, Bumblebee launched herself forwards, striking the Bush swiftly before pulling back to a safe distance again.

Meat Mallet stared blankly at their 1st 'opponent'. "Seriously?" the berserker asked "You expect us to fight a puny, insignificant bush?". Once 2 of his companions attacked the bush, Meat Mallet sighed in disappointment. "Such trivialities are beneath people like us" Meat Mallet said before he walked towards the bush, grabbed it as close to it's base as he could, and attempted to pull it from the ground it was rooted to

Seeing how well the Bush was taking the damage, and with her own skills better suited for defense, Nightingale backed away. When she saw Meat Mallet trying to yank the plant up out of the ground Nightingale quickly remembered the legend of the mandragora plant¹ and covered her ears. "Are you sure you should be doing that? You can't know for sure the leaves aren't toxic, or that uprooting it may be harmful?"

Uncrossing his arms from the idle position he had assumed earlier, Phantom began to pace up to the bush. It seemed almost fair enough, really, that new recruits would be expected to fight something simple. Or else, there was something hidden about it, and the recruits were intended to learn either humility, or how to use their heads.

The black-coated cybernetic ninja continued his pace, then, surveying the fighters who already took initiative. Pierce, the apparent gunslinger, only thought twice before double-tapping into the shrub. The combatant lady, Bumblebee, was more hesitant, but would soon enough lunge forward to attack. 'Meat Mallet' was a bit more simple and blunt, getting himself a couple hand-fulls of the plant's base and tried to yank it up.

As Phantom drew his own sword to join the fray, Madison cried out to Meat not to attempt to pull the plant up, in case it was toxic or dangerous to pull out. Much of an exercise this was, Phantom had to agree somewhat. By virtue of being a bulky series of leaves and plant matter, this bush would need more than a few gunshots or kicks to take it out. It was, comparably, like a training dummy, but perhaps a proper tool like a blade would fare better purpose against this shrub.

"Hold still there," Phantom announced, before breaking out into a quick sprint. As the bush came into range, the ninja leaped over it and Meat, landing on the opposite side. An instant later, he whipped back to slash at the bush's base with his sword, intending to sever it much like a head from the neck.

The man known as Metar Saraimu is one of incredible defensive potential. Clad in solid steel plate over chain over leather, and wielding a large, heavy shield in each hand, it is clear to all who see him that his only goal in life is not to be damaged, ever. Never mind that that isn't his goal at all, it just so happens that this brings him as close to his goal as is reasonably possible at the present time, but people tend to assume things about somebody whose voice is so badly muffled as to be nigh-indecipherable. Regardless, he is determined to become a hero just like everybody else here, and will do this at any cost... even if he has to slowly tread over to the bush at the center of the room as everybody else runs over and does whatever they will to the thing. And then sloooowly tap the bush with one of his shields, hardly scraping it. There is a downside to incredible defense, and it is a severe lack of speed.

- "What's the matter? It's not a common bush; it has thorns. That should be enough" - says the confused Summoner, as it sees the plant flying across the room after Meat Mallet uproots it.

Noticing the bleeding scratches on Meat Mallet's hands and arms Nightingale quickly reaches into her medical kit and pulls out some antiseptic spray and some plasters before jogging over to his side.

"Please try to be a little more careful in future, I haven't got an inexhaustible supply of medicine, you know?"" She said in a scolding tone to the lumbering brute, quickly cleaning his wounds and patching him up.

"If you have a finite supply of medicine, then save it for when we are truly wounded!" Meat Mallet snapped at Nightingale "Those scratches were nothing compared to what we shall face in the coming battles!". Meat Mallet then looked over at Metar. Their choice in armor differed greatly. Metar was armored to the point where he couldn't even attack properly. But Meat Mallet wore no armor, he was completely shirtless, went barefoot, and wore only simple clothing to cover his unmentionables. To Meat Mallet, Metar was the epitome of cowardice. "And you!" the berserker barked, his breathing becoming ragged and his tone of voice becoming angrier by the second "You hide yourself in so much armor, you can't even move, let alone attack properly! The field of battle is no place for cowards like you!".

Meat Mallet then opened his mouth and unleashed an angry roar. "Fools and cowards!" Meat Mallet exclaimed, his voice becoming louder and angrier my the second "I HAVE SURROUNDED MYSELF WITH FOOLS AND COWARDS!". With that said, Meat Mallet drew his mighty war hammer and charged towards where the bush was going to land.

Pierce cared little about the fact that the bush had thorns. It simply meant that those who did attack from up close would need to be careful, and as the berserker shouted out, the injuries suffered were only scratches. Although that same berserker had now foolishly hurled the bush into the air where it would be a tougher target to hit. Not that that would be too much of a problem for Pierce. Taking a moment to aim and lead the bush with his drawn pistol, he fired again at the bush.

Noting the bush's flight through the air, the man clad in seriously a stupid amount of armour why would anyone ever need that much protection bashes his two shields together, yelling a muffled taunt at the inanimate object that is by now not really going towards him. he also ponders the absurdity of his situation, briefly.

So that was a drawback - the bush was prickled, like a rose stem. Phantom was fortunate to attack the bush in the manner he did, as to where he avoided damage. The brutish fighter, however, was less than thrilled to be wounded; it only escalated when Meat was hastily healed by Madison, bursting when he turned his spite into fury. He charged at his target's landing point recklessly, his anger over his comrades fueling him.

Not a fun person to be around, Phantom decided, and hoped everyone felt the same way.

The cybernetic ninja quickly stowed his sword behind his back, rushing forward with practiced speed. This next swipe was probably going to end up being less precise than he would've liked, due to Meat Mallet's barbaric power. While Pierce was undoubtedly advantageous in his choice of firearms, Phantom was going to need a bit of a boost if he wished to do anything. As he gained on Meat, the ninja used his reflexes to vault off of the charging beserker, looking to swipe the bush with a diagonal cut as it fell.

Protected from the thorny bush by her thick leather gloves Bumblebee had nothing to fear from its prickles and as it soared up into the air the rocketeer quickly moved up next to it. Hovering in the air beside it she swung her leg up and over in a graceful spiral, aiming to slam the plant back down into the ground with as much force as she could muster.

The Head Summoner watches as the berserker rages against the fact that a bush is his enemy, and one of the postulants, the one nicknamed "Bumblebee", gives the plant a downwards kick, resulting in the uprooted foliage to speed towards the ground and ultimately crash against it.
- "That was pretty brutal, miss. Have you ever considered the fact that this bush may have a family?"

As soon as the Bush hit the ground Bumblebee pivoted herself in the air, angling herself down towards her target before activating her thrusts at full power. Diving down on top of the Bush she slammed into it with the combined force of her weapon power, body weight and boosted speed, crushing it into the ground.

Pierce watched as the jet-pack riding woman flew after the bush, slammed it into the ground and dive-bombed it. He winced, since such a move would surely injure the woman. Why were some people putting so much effort into killing an inanimate plant? From the Head Summoner's comments, this seemed to be more of a joke than a training exercise. But continue he must. As soon as there was a clear shot he fired at the bush once more.

With the whole party at full health and not requiring her assistance Nightingale ran forwards to join the battle. Leaping into the air she brought her elbow down hard on the grounded bush, trying to damage the tough plant with all the energy she could muster.

The man called Metar Saraimu slowly follows after the bush. In his mind, this bush is now in a perfect position for him to strike, no matter how slowly he moves. Taking step after extraordinarily slow step, the turtle of a man trudges his way over to the bush, and once again extends one of his shields to scrape across the branches of the bush. Take that, you damn bush.

It was then that Meat Mallet reached the bush. The berserker shoved Metar out of the way and repeatedly brought his war hammer down on the plant. The attacks were forceful enough to send thorns flying everywhere. Thorns covered Meat Mallet's body, but he couldn't care less. He cared more about decimating the plant than he did about his own safety.
