Megumi hummed happily as she and Alexander walked.
"New cards, new cards, new cards," Megumi said, happy to have Alexander willing her help make her deck better.
"Yes, yes, you're getting new cards," Alexander said, beginning to get tired of it. Still, he tried to endure it. Megumi was still a friend, after all.
As they walked, they found themselves at a park. Alexander looked at it, then said, "I suppose we could start here. I see a few tables, and I do carry a small.collection of cards with me."
"Okay!" Megumi said, following Alexander.
As they walked, Alexander spotted Keio, one of the people from that tournament earlier, and another person with him, probably a friend. Alexander went over to him, and said, "Hey." Megumi followed, not thrilled to see her fine tuning being delayed, but not saying anything to show respect to other Duelists.
Moros took a lick of his ice cream cone as he carefully biked one-handed down the street. He decided that he would treat himself out, dessert and some stargazing in the park. He parked his bike outside and walked down the path slowly eating his ice cream cone and humming to the music from his headphones. As he made his way to the center he found several people from the tournament were also gathered there for some reason. "Oh, are you guys dueling, can I join?" Moros asked excitedly as he finished his ice cream cone, one last duel to finish the day off would be perfect.
"Hey your Alexander, right?" Keio said as he noticed someone else call out to him. Then he saw that the ombie kid, Moros was here. "Duel hih? Sure how about we all duel?" Keio proposed.
A rumble in Moros's stomach reminded him that although he had got dessert, he had woefully not yet eaten dinner. "Ya that sounds fun, though maybeee we could spice it up a bit. Alexander and me vs you and your friend, but, the losers buy dinner, deal?" Moros said grinning at the idea as he finished off his ice cream. Perhaps he was being a little overconfident here but he was feeling pretty good after winning the tournament, and Alexander's deck was really powerful from what he remembered so it should be fine.
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, 5 cards, 5 cards Keio and Xavier - 8000 LP, 5 cards, 5 cards
"Guess I'll go first," Alexander said. "I Summon 'Magical Exemplar' in ATK mode!" The green robed woman then appeared on the field.
Magical Exemplar - Level 4, ATK 1700
"I'll place one card face down, and end my turn," Alexander finished.
Turn 2: Xavier
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, (3 cards -> 1 monster, 1 spell/trap), 5 cards Keio and Xavier - 8000 LP, 5 cards, 5 cards
"Okay! My turn," Xavier said with excitement, "I Summon my 'Spellsword's Apprentice' in ATK mode, allowing me to banish all spell cards from my deck at the cost of 1000 LP!"
Keio and Xavier - 8000 LP -> 7000 LP
Spellsword's Apprentice - Level 4, ATK 1500
"Now I'll end," he said, completing his turn.
Turn 3: Moros
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, (3 cards -> 1 monster, 1 spell/trap), 5 cards Keio and Xavier - 7000 LP, (4 cards -> 1 monster), 5 cards
"Alright guess that makes it my turn." Moros said as he pursued his hand. Looked like nothing big this turn, but he could set up some stuff. Since Alexander used Spell Counters, that meant that he should play any spell cards he had as quickly as possible.
"Well I guess I'll open up with the Spell card 'Graceful Charity'. I get to draw 3 cards then discard 2 of them, and that puts two Spell Counters on 'Magical Exemplar'." He drew and carefully considered, "I'll discard two 'Mezukis', set one monster and one face down, and end my turn."
Turn 4: Keio
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, (3 cards, 4 cards -> 2 monsters, 2 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 7000 LP, (5 cards, 4 cards, 1 monster)
"Okay, finally my turn then," Keio said as he scanned the cards in his hand. "I'll Summon my 'Necro Gardna' in Defense Position," he said as a black warrior with blood red-colored shoulder pads appeared and took a defensive crouch.
Necro Gardna - Level 3, DEF 1300
"Then I'll set one card face down, and end my turn." Keio said looking a bit bored.
Turn 5: Alexander
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, (4 cards, 4 cards -> 2 monsters, 2 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 7000 LP, (4 cards, 4 cards -> 2 monsters, 1 spell/trap)
"Draw," Alexander said, drawing a card. He examined the cards he had in his hand, debating which ones to play first. Picking out a card, Alexander said, "I'll summon 'Breaker, the Magical Warrior' in ATK mode!" The red-armored swordsman appeared on the field next to 'Magical Exemplar', ready to do battle. "When 'Breaker' is successfully Normal Summoned, he gains one Spell Counter, and 300 ATK from that Spell Counter!"
"Now I activate his effect!" Alexander declared. "By removing one Spell Counter from 'Breaker', I can destroy one Spell or Trap card on the field!" 'Breaker's' blade suddenly turned black, and shot out a bolt of black lightning, heading directly for the face down on Keio and Xavier's side of the field and destroying it.
Breaker, the Magical Warrior - ATK 1900 -> 1600
"Now I move on to the Battle Phase! 'Breaker', destroy 'Spellsword's Apprentice'!" Alexander declared, and 'Breaker' charged, thrusting his sword into 'Spellsword's Apprentice' and destroying it.
Keio and Xavier - 7000 LP -> 6900 LP
"'Magical Exemplar', attack 'Necro Gardna'!" Alexander continued, 'Magical Exemplar' firing a bolt of green energy from her hands at 'Necro Gardna', destroying that monster as well. "Turn end," Alexander finished.
Turn 6: Xavier
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP, (4 cards, 4 cards -> 3 monsters, 2 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 5 cards)
"Draw," Xavier said, clearly amused by his hand, "I Summon my 'Spellsword of the Light'!" The swordsman in a white robe appeared.
Spellsword of the Light - Level 4, ATK 1700, Phase A
"When 'Spellsword of the Light' is Summoned, I can shuffle my Banished Pile and draw one card from it for each monster my opponent controls," Xavier stated, drawing 3 cards from his Banished Pile. "Now I activate 'Spellsword's Greed', allowing me to reshuffle my banished pile and draw one more card from it. Then I'll activate the Field Spell: 'Spellsword Training Grounds', making all my 'Spellsword' monsters gain 100 ATK and DEF. In addition to that, each time a 'Spellsword' monster is Summoned, I place one Mana Counter on my Training Grounds. Then I'll Set one card and enter my Battle Phase."
Meanwhile, 'Magical Exemplar' gained another 4 Spell Counters, resulting in a total of 6 Spell Counters.
Spellsword of the Light - ATK 1700 -> 1800
"'Spellsword of Light' attack 'Breaker'!" Xavier shouted as the swordsman's sword began to glow a bright white. It jumped forward and stabbed the warrior before it, destroying it. "Now I'll end."
Alexander and Moros - 8000 LP -> 7800 LP
Turn 7: Moros
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 5 cards -> 2 monsters, 2 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 5 cards -> 1 monster, 1 spell/trap)
Moros drew his card, muttering the obligatory "Draw," while pondering what to do. He could wait until they really needed it, but it would probably be best to buy time now to set up the field. He knew that Alexander's 'Arcanite Magician' was super powerful if he got it out, and Moros himself favored waiting until later in the duel as well.
"Alright I think I'll activate the Spell card: 'Swords of Revealing Light', that means your monsters can't attack for 3 of your turns, and 'Magical Exemplar' gains another 2 Spell Counters" Imposing swords of light slammed down all around Keio and Xavier. "See how your 'Swordsman of the Light' likes that." Moros said confidently, "I'll set one more card and end my turn."
Turn 8: Keio
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 3 cards -> 2 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (4 cards, 5 cards -> 1 monster, 1 spell/trap)
"Okay, then it is my draw," Keio said, looking at his cards. "There does not seem like much I can do except bring out this guy. I Summon my 'Quilbolt Hedgehog' in defense mode." Quilbolt Hedgehog -> Level: 2 DEF: 800
Then an orange color hedgehog appeared and took a defensive stance. "With that I'll end my turn." Keio stated.
Turn 9: Alexander
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 3 cards -> 2 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 5 cards -> 2 monsters, 1 spell/trap)
"My draw," Alexander said, drawing his next card. Alexander grinned, seeing a good card come up. "I play my Field Spell: 'Magical Citadel of Endymion'!" Alexander declared, part of the field transforming into a field of trees, with a giant towering citadel behind Alexander and Moros, and 'Magical Exemplar' gained 2 more Spell Counters, a grand total of 10. "Now I Summon 'Defender, the Magical Knight' in DEF mode!" Alexander continued, the heavily armored warrior appearing on the field, crouching behind his shield.
Defender, the Magical Knight - Level 4, DEF 2000
"When 'Defender' is successfully Normal Summoned, he gains one Spell Counter," Alexander explained, the red orb in the middle of 'Defender's' shield turning black. Now Alexander had to do some thinking. None of the monsters on his field could defeat 'Spellsword of the Light' yet, so that left one option.
"Battle! 'Magical Exemplar', attack 'Quillbolt Hedgehog'!" Alexander commanded, 'Magical Exemplar' firing a green bolt of energy at the little furball, destroying it. "Turn end," Alexander ended.
Turn 10: Xavier
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 3 cards -> 3 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 5 cards -> 1 monster, 1 spell/trap)
"Draw," Xavier muttered, seeing that things weren't going his way, then grinning at his draw, "I Summon my 'Spellsword's Grandmaster' in ATK mode, placing one Mana Counter on Training Grounds."
Spellsword's Grandmaster -> Level 4, ATK 1800, Phase B
"I activate my Grandmaster's effect! He allows me to remove one Mana Counter from anywhere on the field and add one spell of my choice from my banished pile to my hand. I chose my 'Spellsword's Grand Blade'. Then I Phase Shift Summon my 'Spellsword of World's End' in DEF mode."
[Spellcaster/Phase Shift/Effect] Phase a/b monsters who's levels equal 8 When this card is Summoned, remove one Phase Unit and enter the corresponding phase. Phase A (CHARGING PHASE): Atk: 0 Def: 2000 This monster cannot be targeted by card effects or destroyed by battle. During any battles involving this defense position monster and a monster with greater atk than this card's defense, inflict the difference as piercing damage. Once per turn: you can place 5 Mana Counters on this card and move all Mana Counters on the field to this card. Phase B (DESTRUCTION PHASE): ATK: ? DEF: ? This card's attack and defense become equal to the number of Mana Counters on it x300. Once per turn: remove any number of Mana Counters from this monster; Add Spell Cards from your banished pile equal to the number of Mana Counters you removed, then recalculate the ATK of this card.
"I remove 'Spellsword of the Light' to enter Phase A. When in Phase A, he has 0 atk and 2000 def. Then I activate my face down, 'Flash Mana' placing one Mana Counter on each card on my side of the field, that's 3 mana counters. Now I activate End's effect, placing all Mana Counters on the field on him and an additional 5, for a grand total of 8. then I equip him with 'Spellsword's Grand Blade', adding 1000 to his ATK and DEF. Now I will end." Xavier said confidently.
Meanwhile, 'Magical Citadel of Endymion' gained 2 Spell Counters and 'Magical Exemplar' gained 4.
Turn 11: Moros
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 4 cards -> 3 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster, 2 spell/traps,)
Moros drew his next card, still considering the monster that had been Summoned. It looked like it could be quite powerful, given time. Still, 'Swords of Revealing Light' was out, so they had nothing to worry about yet. He didn't see any point in making a move quite yet, so he simply said, "Keio, you're up. Try to at least act excited alright?"
Turn 12: Keio
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (4 cards, 5 cards -> 3 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster, 2 spell/traps,)
"Okay then, it is my draw again." Keio said, still looking bored. "Moros, how about you play a good card if you want me to get excited. Now I'll set my 'Nitro Synchron' in DEF mode."
Nitro Synchron - Level 2, DEF 100.
Then a tiny pink gas tank appeared on the field and crouched down. "With your 'Swords' still in play, I'll end my turn." Keio said.
Turn 13: Alexander
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP, (5 cards, 5 cards -> 3 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP, (2 cards, 3 cards -> 2 monsters, 2 spell/traps,)
"Draw," Alexander said, drawing his next card. Alexander was surprised to see a new form of Summoning, and wondered what a Phase Shift monster could do. Looking at the card he drew, Alexander grinned, for another good card had come up. "I'll discard one card from my hand in order to Summon 'The Tricky' in ATK mode!" Alexander declared, the oddly-dressed creature appearing on the field.
The Tricky - Level 5, ATK 2000
"Next, I activate the effect of my 'Magical Exemplar'!" Alexander continued. "By removing Spell Counters from her, I can Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from my Graveyard with a Level equal to the amount of Spell Counters I remove!" As two of the floating dark orbs disappeared, Alexander said, "I remove two Spell Counters to Summon my Level Two 'Arcane Apprentice!" A small brown-and-blue robed creature on the field, brandishing its staff.
Arcane Apprentice - Level 2, ATK 400, Tuner
"Time for the main event!" Alexander said. "I tune my Level 5 'Tricky' with my Level 2 'Arcane Apprentice'!" As the two monsters transformed into two green rings and five small stars, Alexander chanted, "Wielder of sealed arcane forces! Use our power and destroy all who oppose us! Synchro Summon! Appear, 'Arcanite Magician'!" The white-robed mage appeared from the rings and stars, ready for battle. "When 'Arcanite Magician' is successfully 'Synchro Summoned', I can add two Spell Counters to him, and he gains 1000 ATK for each Spell Counter on him," Alexander explained, two dark orbs appearing, floating around the head of of 'Arcanite Magician's' green staff.
Arcanite Magician - Level 7, ATK 400 -> ATK 2400
"Also, when 'Arcane Apprentice' is used as Synchro Material for a Synchro Summon, I can add one 'Assault Mode Activate' from my deck," Alexander explained, adding the ejected card to his hand. "Now I activate the effect of my 'Arcanite Magician'! By removing a Spell Counter from anywhere on my field, I can destroy one card my opponent controls!" Alexander continued. "Destroy 'Spellsword Training Ground'!" Alexander commanded, a dark orb appearing from the shield of 'Defender, the Magical Knight', which was absorbed into 'Arcanite Magician's' staff, turning it black. 'Arcanite Magician' then pointed his staff at their side of the field and fired a bolt of dark lightning, causing mass destruction to their field, gradually transforming the entire field into a clearing with trees surrounding everyone.
"I can still use 'Arcanite Magician's' effect, as long as I have Spell Counters to use," Alexander said, a dark orb floating away from 'Magical Exemplar' and into 'Arcanite Magician's' staff. "Destroy 'Nitro Synchron'!" Alexander commanded, 'Arcanite Magician' firing another dark bolt of lightning and destroying the little pink gas tank. "Now for that 'Spellsword of World's End'!" Alexander said, but a buzzing sound emerged from his Duel Disk.
"Not so fast... World's End cant be destroyed by battle or be targeted by card effect" Xavier said, confidently with a smirk on his face.
Frowning, Alexander continued, "Then I'll destroy that 'Spellsword's Grand Blade' instead." Another dark bolt of lightning was fired, destroying the blade.
"When 'Grand Blade' is destroyed, my opponent takes 300 points of damage for each monster they control!" Xavier said, crossing his arms as the shards of the blade flew at Moros and Alexander.
Alexander and Moros - 7800 LP -> 6600 LP
Alexander shielded himself with one arm as the shards struck, then continued, "One last bolt to destroy that face down!" Alexander said, another bolt fired to destroy their last face down card.
"Battle! 'Arcanite Magician', attack 'Spellsword of World's End' with White Discharge!" Alexander commanded, and 'Arcanite' Magician' fired a bolt of white lightning.
Keio and Xavier - 6900 LP -> 6500 LP
"I place one card face down and end my turn," Alexander ended.
Turn 14: Xavier
Alexander and Moros - 6600 LP, (3 cards, 4 cards -> 4 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6500 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster)
"I draw," Xavier casually drew his next card as he spoke the words, "Now, time to show you how to Duel. I activate a Phase Shift on 'World's End' sending him into Phase B and removing his last Phase Unit. His original attack and defense become 1800, then I remove one Mana Counter to add one Spell from my Banished pile to my hand. I'll add 'Final Bond', then remove another Counter to add 'Spellsword Arena'. I then activate 'Arena', which makes all 'Spellsword' monsters gain an extra 200 ATK for each Mana Counter on them, bringing 'World's End' up to 2000. Now I activate 'Final Bond' on World's End and Arcanite, meaning If one leaves the field, the other leaves the field in the same manner. And don't think about destroying 'Final Bond' because if you do, both of them are Banished. Now I activate the second effect of 'Arena', which places a Mana Counter on it each time a Spell card is activated," Xavier stated proudly, "Now I end."
Turn 15: Moros
Alexander and Moros - 6600 LP, (3 cards, 5 cards -> 4 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6500 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster, 2 spell/traps)
Moros hmmed to himself thoughtfully as he considered his options. Seemed that there were two powerhouses on the field now, perhaps he should see if he could do the same. "Well this is nearly optimal," he said quietly then louder, "Alright, first thing I'll do is activate 'Dark World Dealings', everybody draw one and discard one." Moros drew his card and discarded Wightprince to the Graveyard, "Once 'Wightprince' goes in he drags 'Lady in Wight' and 'Skull Servant' with him," Moros annouced as he dropped two more cards into the grave. "Now I'll use the spell card 'One for One' to discard 'Wightprince' to Special Summon a Level 1 monster from my deck, 'King of Skull Servants'! Don't forget 'Wightprince' drags two more monsters to the grave with him. The purple robed Skeleton appeared standing on a pile of skeletons.
Alexander grinned, thinking the timing couldn't be better. "I'll help you out there," Alexander said. "I activate my Trap card: 'Assault Mode Activate'! I can Tribute a Synchro Monster on my field and Special Summon a stronger version of it from my deck!" As 'Arcanite Magician' rose up into the air, his white robe glowed brilliantly. "Forces of magic, be unsealed! None shall survive our combined assault! Rain down hell, 'Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode!'" Alexander chanted, and 'Arcanite Magician descended onto the field, this time revealing the red armor it had been wearing underneath his robe. "Just like the original, 'Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode' gains two Spell Counters, and 1000 ATK for each one," Alexander explained.
Also, due to your 'Final Bond', your 'Spellsword of World's End will be sent to the Graveyard," Alexander said confidently.
"Now! I activate the last effect of Spellsword Arena! When a Spellsword Extra Deck monster is sent to the graveyard by my card effect, It returns to the Extra Deck!" Xavier responded as World's End erupted into sparks. Just as the sparks began to vanish, they returned to their original shape and flew back into Xavier's Duel Disk.
Moros shrugged, where it went when it left the field was no concern of his. What was important was that the field was clear for an almost full power 'King of Skull Servants' to attack. "Battle! 'King of Skull Servants' has 6000 ATK, and he'll use them to attack directly with Revenge Blast!"
"Wait, I active my 'Necro Gardna's' effect. I can Banish him from my Graveyard to negate an attack, and I think I'll chose this attack," Keio said as his 'Necro Gardna' appeared to intercept the 'King of Skull Servants'.
"Aw," Moros said, disappointed as the blast destroyed 'Necro Gardna' instead of his opponents' LPs, "I guess I'll just set one card and end my turn."
Turn 16: Keio
Alexander and Moros - 6600 LP, (3 cards, 2 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6500 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster, 2 spell/traps)
"Okay I guess it's my draw." Keio said as he picked up another card from his duel disk. "Well this looks like it will work." Keio said with some thrill. " I am going to activate my 'Mystical Space Typhoon;. I'm going to take out those ;Swords of Revealing Light' that have me blocked off. " Keio said as a large typhoon destroyed the 'Swords of Revealing Light.'
Meanwhile, 'Citadel' gains another Counter, and 'Exemplar' gains two more, making a grand total of 5 and 15, respectively.
"Now that I took care of that, I am going to Summon my 'Junk Synchron' in ATK mode.
Junk Synchron - Level 3, ATK 1300, Tuner
An orange mechanical dwarf appeared right in front of Keio. "My 'Junk Synchron's' effect allows me to Special Summon a Level 2 or lower monster from my Graveyard in mode. And I am going to bring back my 'Nitro Synchron'," Keio said as his 'Nitro Synchron' appeared back on the field. "Also since I have a Tuner monster on my side of the field, I can Special Summon my 'Quillbolt Hedgehog' from my Graveyard in DEF position." Keio said as his 'Quillbolt Hedgehog' appeared in front of him. "Now, I am going to Tune my 'Hedgehog' with my 'Junk Synchron' to summon my 'Junk Warrior' to the field." Keio said as his 'Junk Synchron' turned into three green rings and modified his Hedgehog until it transformed into a purple mechanical warrior with a jetpack.
Junk Warrior - Level 5, ATK 2300
" Wait, I’m not done yet. I’m going to Synchro Summon again.” Keio said with pleasure on his face. “I am going to tune my Junk Warrior with my Nitro Synchron.” Keio said as his Nitro Synchron turned into two balls of light and tuned his Junk Warrior. Then a Green Monster soon took its place. “I bring forth my Nitro Warrior.” Keio said.
Nitro Warrior - Level 7, ATK 2800, Synchro.
“Now I’m going to activate my Magnum Shield equip spell. Oh and don’t forget to claim your counters by the way. What this equip spell does is add my monsters defense points to his attack points giving him 4600 ATK. Oh, and once per turn, during either of our turns, if a Spell card is activated, my Nitro Warrior gains an extra 1000 ATK points until his next attack. That gives him a total of 5600 ATK. Now I am going to have Nitro Warrior take down 'Arcanite Magician/Assault Mode' with your Nitro Fist.” Keio said as his creature attacked his magician.
"I activate the effect of 'Defender, the Magical Knight'!" Alexander countered. "By removing one Spell Counter from my field, I can negate the destruction of a Spellcaster-Type monster on my field!" A dark orb disappeared from 'Magical Exemplar', sending her Spell Counters down to 16, and 'Defender' leaped in front of 'Arcanite Magician', an invisible barrier blocking the Turbo Punch.
The fist hits 'Defender's' barrier, but a shock wave is sent back to Alexander and Moros.
Alexander and Moros - 6600 LP -> 3900
“Well in that case, I’ll set one card face down and end my turn.” Keio said.
Turn 17: Alexander
Alexander and Moros - 3900 LP, (4 cards, 2 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 6500 LP, (3 cards, 3 cards -> 1 monster, 2 spell/traps)
"Draw," Alexander said, drawing his next card. "This is the end for you guys," Alexander said, declaring his victory. "I activate 'Arcanite Magician's' effect! By removing two Spell Counters from it, I can destroy all cards my opponent controls! And, when an effect that requires Spell Counters is activated, I can use Spell Counters from 'Citadel' instead!" Two dark orbs flew away from 'Citadel' and into his staff, making it turn black and crackle with black electricity. "Dark Lightning Storm!" Alexander cried out as thick dark clouds appeared over Keio and Xavier's side of the field, which then released a barrage of dark lightning bolts, destroying everything on their side of the field.
"Wait, I'm going to activate my faced-down card, 'The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh' Now I can add a Kuriboh from my deck to my hand before you wipe out my field." Keio said as the card popped out from his deck.
"I'll switch 'Defender' to ATK mode and start my Battle Phase! 'King of Skull Servants', attack them directly with Revenge Blast!," Alexander commanded, and the undead skeleton fired a ball of dark energy.
"I activate the effect of my 'Spellsword of Warding'! While he is in my hand, if my opponent declares a direct attack, I can discard him to gain life points equal to the attacking monster's attack plus 300.
Keio and Xavier - 6500 LP -> 6800 LP
"'Arcanite Magician', attack them directly with Dark Discharge!" Alexander commanded, undeterred. 'Arcanite Magician' fired a bolt of dark lightning from his staff, depleting some of their Life Points
Keio and Xavier - 6800 LP -> 3900 LP
"'Defender', 'Exemplar', continue the assault!" Alexander commanded, the two monsters performing their respective attacks.
Keio and Xavier - 3900 LP -> 600 LP
Turn 18: Xaiver
Alexander and Moros - 3900 LP, (4 cards, 2 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 600 LP, (4 cards, 3 cards -> )
"Draw," Xavier muttered, unamused by the turn of events, "I summon one monster in face-down defense position, set one card face-down and end."
Turn 19: Moros Alexander and Moros - 3900 LP, (4 cards, 3 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 600 LP, (2 cards, 3 cards -> )
"Draw!" Moros stated as he exaimed his card. Well, from the looks of it, unless they had something fancy prepared, this duel was over. "I'll activate the Spell card: 'Opti-camoflauge armour', when equipped to a level 1 monster it can attack directly." The skeleton's purple robes were covered by shimmering armor that made in blur in and out of vision. "Since I don't feel like hitting your face-down monster I think I'll go for a more direct approach. 'King of Skull Servants, destroy his LPs with Revenge Blast!"
"I activate Mirror Force, destroying all of your ATK position monsters, and since all of them are in ATK mode, say goodbye to all of them." Xavier said proudly.
"I activate the effect of my 'Defender', protecting my Spellcasters from destruction!" Alexander countered, three dark orbs disappearing from 'Magical Exemplar', and 'Defender' shielding them from the reflected blast. 'King of Skull Servants', however, was not so fortunate.
"Hmph, I guess I'll have to instead use 'Magical Exemplar' to attack your face-down monster." 'Magical Exemplar' fired a bolt of green energy from her hands at the unknown monster
Spellsword of Warding -> Level 4, DEF 2000 ATK 0
Alexander and Moros 3900-> 3600
Moros was undaunted by the flicker of reflected damage, "Fine then, 'Arcanite Magician' destroy his Spellsword and 'Defender' finish off his LP!" Arcanite Magician blasted the monster with dark lightning as Defender rushed past it to deliver the final blow.
"Wait, I'll activate the effect of the 'Kuriboh' in my hand. I can discard him from my hand to the Graveyard in order to block your attack," Keio said as his tiny brown fur ball appeared on the field to block Defender's attack.
"Drat," Moros muttered, he should've gone about that better. Oh well, he had no doubt they would still obtain victory. "Well my King might not have been safe from 'Mirror Force', but you should know zombies don't stay down for long. I'll activate the effect of 'Mezuki', which lets me banish him from my graveyard to Special Summon my 1 Zombie-Type monster from my graveyard, my 'King of Skull Servants' back to the field! With that I'll end my turn."
Turn 20: Keio
Alexander and Moros - 3600 LP, (4 cards, 2 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 600 LP, (2 cards, 3 cards)
"Well that means it is my draw." Keio said hoping for a good card. "Huh this could work but I'm not sure if I wanted to show just anybody this card. Well it couldn't hurt." Keio said. "First I am going to activate my 'Soul Release', now I can remove up to five cards from any players graveyard. Why don't I pick five of the ones that give your 'King' his power." Keio said as the King of the Skulls Servants power dropped from 6000 to 1000. "Now I'm going to banish my Kuriboh and the Calculator you made me discard a while back to special summon my 'Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning'." Keio said as a swordswoman with red hair and blacks armor appeared on the field.
Black Luster Solder - Envoy of the Beginning, Level 8, ATK 3000
"Now I'm going to equipped my 'Soldier' with the equip spell Junk Barrage. Now when my monster destroys a monster as a result of battle I can inflict damage equal to half of your destroyed monsters attack points. Now Black Luster Soldier destroy the 'King of the Skull Servants with your Black Luster Swing." Keio said as his monster struck down the 'King of the Skulls Servants. Then out of the 'Black Luster Soldier's Sword a pellet of junk shot at Moros.
"A monster unprotected is as good as useless," Moros proclaimed, "I activate the trap card 'Fiendish Chain', I can target one effect monster and negate its effects, and stop it form attacking." A clutser of chains raced out from the card ensaring the swordsman in weakness. "I believe that ends your turn?" Moros asked confidently.
"Well with an empty hand means it has to end." Keio stated.
Turn 21: Alexander
Alexander and Moros - 3600 LP, (5 cards, 2 cards -> 5 monsters, 4 spell/traps) Keio and Xavier - 600 LP, (0 cards, 3 cards)
"Well, looks like I get the final blow," Alexander said, drawing his next card. "I'm sure you know what'll happen, so I won't bother explaining. Dark Lightning Storm!" 2 dark orbs floated away from 'Citadel' and towards 'Arcanite Magician', conjured up another group of dark clouds, which released a barrage of dark lightning bolts, wiping their entire field once more.
"Battle! 'Arcanite Magician', attack them directly! Dark Discharge!" Alexander commanded, 'Arcanite Magician' firing a dark lightning bolt from his staff, depleting the last of Keio and Xavier's Life Points.
Keio and Xavier - 600 LP -> 0 LP
Moros grinned and whispered one word to the losers with a cunning smile, "Lobster."
~Three days later~ Xavier sat up hard, bringing his head to the bottom of the bunk above him. Keio snorted as the impact hit his back, then also jolted awake.
"Huh? Xavier, something up?" Keio asked, leaning over the bunk to look at the older boy.
"Uhhh, no. Just a bad dream," Xavier responded as he got out of the bed and walked outside onto the porch on the second floor of the boy's dorms, Keio followed, "Ya know, I've been having this reoccurring nightmare of this girl who is running from some group, at the end everything goes white, then fades to black."
"Huh, sounds strange. You recognize her?" Questioned the other boy.
Moros yawned and lazily hit his alarm clock silencing the incessant ringing. First thing was breakfast, he got made his bed and ate his cereal quickly, washing the bowl out for convenient future use. Living by himself had a been a strange experience for the first few weeks but he was used to it by now. Well mostly, he still got his calendar mixed up sometimes, he couldn't even remember if he had to go to school today...
Alexander opened his eyes, then grabbed his phone to check the time. Time to get up, Alexander thought as he removed his blankets and put on his glasses, then moved on to get breakfast.
Megumi groaned, not wanting to wake up. She rubbed her eyes, then reached under her pillow to grab her deck holder. Pulling out 'Destiny HERO - Plasma', she smiled, then placed it back into her deck holder and began to get ready for the day.
Moros quickly finished getting dressed, grabbed his duel disk, his head phones, and made his way out. Luckily the school provided free breakfast so he always got doubles on it. Besides the school always had food like scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages. Mhmmm. He made his way down to the cafeteria and loaded up on food wolfing it down. People always complained about school food for some reason but he liked it.
Akira shot out of bed getting dressed and running his fingers through his messy hair before grabbing his deck and duel disk and headding off to go eat with the rest of his class mates.
Alexander got dressed and grabbed his Duel Disk, then left his room to head to the cafeteria for some breakfast. He had no problems with school food, unlike some. Entering the line for the food, Alexander heard a familiar female voice say, "Good morning, Alex." Alexander turned around to see Megumi standing behind him in line. "Good morning to you too," Alexander said, then turned back around. After getting their food, they found an empty spot and sat down, eating their breakfast.
Together they finally walked into the cafeteria. It had been a couple weeks since they'd been at school. Proudly they had left for a tournament back in their home town in France, and the siblings of course had won for yet another victory back home.Now it was time to return to school and cause more havoc, or at least that was what ran through the young Cécile's mind. As usual she had her cap on, and ready to duel at a moments notice.
As she scanned the cafeteria for her next victim. The word victim for Cécile meant she would torment someone psychologically whether it was purposefully doing something that bothered them or made them uncomfortable, or just toying with them in a duel if she wanted. As she thought and scanned she suddenly licked her lips slightly as her eyes found her next target. The always dull Alexander! The guy was almost never happy, or really anything. Thus Cécile took any chance to put some kind of emotion into the guy. Of course his oh so faithful companion was there too, but that made it even better!
Slowly walking up behind him as he was sitting Cécile leaned over and wrapped her arms around Alexander leaning in to whisper into his ear teasingly. "I hope you all had fun while we were away..." She teased as she flipped a card around in her fingers stopping with it showing to Alexander, showing him 'Cyber Twin Dragon' card she had won at her tournament. Her spoils of war as one might say. Her brother of course took the 'Cyber End Dragon' but it was more his style anyway, and this was hers, though the chances of them making decks for these new cards was slim considering their dedication to the Red-Eyes Black Dragon, but who knew.
Alexander had been calmly finishing his food and wiping his mouth with a napkin when someone suddenly wrapped her arms around him and whispered things in his ear. Alexander showed a brief moment of surprise before resuming his calm demeanor and took a moment to analyze the situation. He recognized this behavior belonging to a certain someone in this school. It had been a while, but he never forgot it. Well I certainly didn't miss this, Alexander thought.
Out loud, Alexander sighed and greeted Cécile, "Hello, Cécile. I see you won that tournament of yours, if this 'Cyber Twin Dragon' is anything to go by." Alexander then grasped her arms and said, "Now then, if you would be so kind as to release me."
Megumi had also been happily enjoying her meal before the unexpected intrusion appeared. Instantly her cheerful mood plummeted, and Megumi grimaced at the sight of Cécile and Alexander together like that. Setting aside her tray, Megumi stood up, absolutely livid, and exclaimed, "You take your hands off him, you filthy she-devil!" Megumi was not going to let this girl take away her childhood friend Alex, no matter what. Sure, Megumi never won against Cécile in a Duel, but that was then and this was now.
Moros turned to look at the source of aggressive yelling to find Alexander and Megumi talking to the two students that had left to participate in a tournament. Kinda of maybe eavesdropping he listened to hear that Cecile had managed to win her tournament and was showing off her card. He finished his meal and walked over eager to share, "O hey Cecile, guess what?" he said quickly contiuneing without bothering to listen for an answer, "I won a tournament toooo, and I got this card. I guess that makes you me as good as you." Moros said proudly displaying his Flash Phase Shift card that he had won. He waved at Adrien, "Hey I guess that means you won a card as well. Can I see it?" Moros asked curiously.
Giggling endlessly at Megumi, Cécile slowly slid her arms off of Alexander, very slowly, just to torture Megumi more. "You know Megumi...You're kinda cute when you're jealous, too bad you don't have the skill to back it up though..." She through that last bit in there to bug Megumi even more. Sadly though her fun was cut short when Moros, who she admittedly found very attractive, had the audacity to suggest he might be at her level? Cécile turned her head and giggled softly before responding to Moros. "Careful now Moros," She giggled one more time before continuing. "I might hold you to that..." She teased almost clearly challenging him.
On the other hand Adrien had walked up behind Cécile but hadn't said a word. He knew his sister wanted to have her fun, and sometimes he had the opportunity to leech off of her chaos to start a duel. In this case though he could tell she wanted to probably start one for herself, and found the whole situation rather amusing. As usual Megumi stirred up some attention which drew Moros over to the crowd. Adriend had never personally thought much about the guy honestly though. He was chill and fun to talk with, but he wasn't a huge deal like some of the other people at the school. Still he probably considered the guy a friend, or maybe an associate at the very least. Adrien did frown for a moment though when Moros mentioned winning a tournament in town. If Cécile hadn't wanted to detour slightly on the way back they probably could have made it for this tournament and at least one of them would have won, or at least according to the probabilities.
Moros suggested he was at the same level as his sister which also made him laugh internally. Out of the two of them Cécile might have pretended to be the more innocent one of the Allaire siblings, but even though everyone thought that Adrien was vastly superior to his sister, and maybe one of the top duelists around and that Cécile was just in his shadow. The reality was even Adrien wasn't sure who was better. He may be better at behaving properly in public, but that was the only for sure thing. Finally he slipped a card out of his pocket and revealed it to Moros though, letting him gaze upon the 'Cyber End Dragon' he had won in France. "He was definitely worth the effort, though knowing me I'll probably stake him in a duel to try and get a better card for my deck, after all, there's always room for improvement."
Akira smiled seeing a bunch of others chatting around Megumi and Alexander and decided to get up and join them having finished his food. As he approached he caught sight of the Cyber End Dragon and immediately felt floored. "Wait you worked hard to get that and yet you'd just risk it in a duel like it was nothing?" Akira asked barging into the conversation. "What the hell is wrong with you? Those cards should be prized especially if you won them." he added getting a little heated at the thought
Megumi blushed and glared at Cécile, offended by her words. "I-I'm not jealous!" Megumi stammered. "I'm just... just you wait, I'll beat you in a Duel, and I have a new-" Megumi was then interrupted by Alexander, "Megumi, stop. You're making a scene." Megumi didn't want to let it go, but Alexander was right, and she sat back down, but not before giving one last stink eye to Cécile. Alexander sighed, tired from bring the center of the conflict. Fortunately, others had begun to join the ever-growing group, which took away some attention.
Yuji had been running a bit late for breakfast, and was planning to get some even now, hoping there would still be some left. Then he got distracted by the rather loud conflict happening between Cécile and another girl.
"Hey, Yuji-kun, what'cha lookin' at?" his best friend Jin asked, following Yuji's gaze. "Oh. I think I recognize some of them. Isn't that Cécile and Adrien?"
"Let's just go get breakfast while we still can," Yuji said as walked into the line, no longer caring.
"So cold, Ice King," Jin said teasingly with a toothy smile. He turned around and found someone rather interesting to talk to. "Hey girl, you're late just like us!" Jin said cheerfully.
"My name is Yuna, and good morning to you too," the 'girl' greeted. Yuna was now a student in the academy, newly transferred in only a couple days ago. "And you, Ice King," Yuna said.
"I told you not to call me that," Yuji said, mildly annoyed.
"It's your title, isn't it?" Yuna asked mockingly, mildly amused. "You should feel honored to be addressed as such."
"Alright, ladies, break it up," Jin said, still smiling. "We got a long day ahead of us. Let's get some breakfast first."
Yuji turned to give Jin a stink eye, who merely gave him a thumbs up. Yuji then turned back to continue waiting in line and get his food.
"Another town, another chance at some fun." Joshua said as he slowly entered town. He had little more then a backpack and his duel disk on him. He walked through town, taking in the sights. He paid little heed to the people around him as they were of no interest in him unless they were duelist. He looked for schools and parks, places people and children gathered in order to duel. It did not take him long to find the school and he entered without hesitation. He didn't enter the building proper but stayed on the grounds instead, where duels were more likely.
Sadly it seemed like none were currently happening. Finding a tree, he climbed up to the first branch and sat there, eager to see what the day might bring. Campus security wasn't a concern of his. They either beat him in a duel or he ignored them. Plain and simple.
Moros grinned back, "You wanna hold it to me, well lets see about that why don't we?" Maybe it was because he just had a great breakfast. Maybe it was because he had just won a tournament, or maybe it was because he just wanted to have a duel. Moros raised his hand dramatically, his duel disk unfolding as he did so. "I think I'll challenge-" his arm came down and pointed at Cecile. "Both of you!" he said as he stuck out his other hand pointing at Adrien.
Moros paused for thought, Adrien said that he would probably trade for a new card so if he really wanted to duel he would need some incentive. He thought of some dragon support cards he had gotten recently, if he remembered correctly they used dragons or something. "And to sweeten the deal I'll offer up 'Kidmodo Dragon' and 'Totem Dragon' if I lose." he said grinning confidently. He had never gotten a chance to duel either of them before now he could duel both of them. If he lost then oh well, it wasn't like he was planning on using either of those cards. Dueling for him was like mealtime, three duels a day kept the hunger away. Moros wondered if he actually had a chance of winning, it would be fun to find out.
