The Island

Sunlight slowly peeks over the horizon. Rising up from the distant waters, the shining sun casts its rays of light over ocean and land alike. It has been this way for millennia, keeping its blinding glare focused on the world, casting shadows and turning night into day.

But today the sun turned its attention to a very specific spit of land, known as the Island.. What this Island would become, how large it would become, who would live here, what would occur upon it, was yet to be seen. Isolated from the other lands, and unaffected by other worldly events, the Island stood in its place - lonely, but willing to sprout its stories.

Tribal folk would dance upon its earthen claims. Kingdoms would rise and fall, giving way to powerful empires and nations. Great heroes would live on through song and legends. Gods and goddesses would find themselves in the heart of the people, whether through benevolence or through fear.

But the Island was ready. Ready to sing its stories to the stars once the sun retreated back below the horizon...

The golden fleet of Talakhi.
The island, the land holds many names, all different to each of its many inhabitants.
With an island this size, it means one thing..... sea.

For humans for beasts for gods, the sea is something that always need to be taken into consideration.
Empires have risen and fallen when men have forgot the sea, and the sea is something that will always matter more to some than others.

For the Talakhi trade republic, the sea can never be forgotten. Without the sea they would not have been born, thrived from distant and coastal trade and created a blooming merchant republic with the finest vessels money can buy.

Their vessels feature golden inlays along its features, a wedge shaped prow piercing the water beneath, beautiful red details like railings and masts and the triangular pure white sails with the eye symbol of the Talakhi trade republic. This is always a welcome sight since it means new exotic things, spices, or just new clothes have come available and can be bought for a fair price.... for the Talakhi at least.

Upon the grandest vessel in the fleet, Grand Talakh, whom is said to have roamed the sea for a thousand years and a day, the heart of the trade republic resides. The republics inner circle, the council of ten, whom as the most influential and powerful, not to forget wealthy, control the will of Talakhi and their goals.

The republic has a grand fleet, but only Grand Talakh could be defined as a real warship. Massive in size, built like a fortress with ballistae and onagers dotted along its defenses, with more sails than could be counted by common men, it stands more akin to a city than a regular ship. A booming society lives aboard and live in luxury as the trade fleets bring all kinds of goods to the vessel.
What cannot be found on Grand Talakh, cannot be bought with money.

While the republic itself cannot face a real threat, defense can be bought and as long the price is gold, the republic provides.
Money being something the republic have in great abundance.

Olldar, the Creator. Olldar is known to have created the island, and it's inhabitants. Olldar is the power of good, he drives away the evil of night. Igtarr, God of Night. Igtarr is the polar opposite of Olldar. Igtarr existed as the dark surrounding the light of Olldar. When Olldar created Humans and Beasts, Igtarr created Demons. Igtarr has reigned terror during night, but when it becomes day he hides. he hides from the great, pure power of Olldar.
Olldar and Igtarr have had many quarrels since The Creation. The most notable of which was correctly dubbed "The War of the Gods". Olldar had bestowed gifts upon special individuals, which had angered Igtarr. The gifts included the powers of Time, Oceans, Fire, and Unlimited Knowledge. Igtarr hated that Olldar would just give away his powers all willy nilly, so he organized an evil league of demons to attack the powered Humans. When Olldar found this 'league' he got so mad he personally attacked Igtarr. He sent everything after him, including the Humans, which followed him. From the Island this battle looked like a light show, only with darkness sometimes surrounding the light. Igtarr dug a hole into Olldar and forced him to step back. Pure light spewed from his wound, weakening him. He gave all of his might and completely swallowed Igtarr, and banished him to the Moon. Whether he will ever return is still a question.
The Humans, after witnessing that Olldar was not all powerful and could be wounded, split into two groups. One that followed Olldar, led by the Time Demigod and Ocean Demigod. The other that follows Igtarr, led by the Fire Demigod and the Unlimited Knowledge Demigod.
