@Rilla@Skallagrim

Can you guys tell me about The Dreamers, The Forgotten, The Rebellion, and The Xindhi. There is obviously a very detailed and expansive relationship shared by these things, but I am only just beginning to read up on it. So if there are any highlights I should take note of or if you feel like info dumping me. I welcome whatever you feel like telling me about since am quite curious about all of it.

Three of those belong to Skallagrim. The Rebellion are mine.

They are a group that are/were opposed to Rilla, my main PC, and Ouroboros. Two of the members, well, technically three, are related to Rilla by blood. Terra, Nihl, and Mahoe.

@RillaWhat did Rilla(PC) do that was so bad a Rebellion was formed just to oppose him? I mean three of the members are even related to him. So it had to be pretty bad. Though that said, now I wonder why they are no longer opposed to him.

Rilla, and his family, the Sacred, weren't exactly the nicest people. In fact, they were all pretty much assholes. Rilla's family, especially, is almost always warring with each other.

No need to oppose him now though, he's basically dead. Ouroboros has taken a new person, Rilla's grandson, Joseph, the Imaginist. He's actually pretty much worse, so they may end up opposing him.

@RillaSo they opposed him for reasons that weren't all that noble, and now Joseph, their nephew, has the power and is an even more unsavory person then Rilla(PC) was. Are any of the characters involved in these affairs actually good guys? I mean I read Skallagrim and he seems to be a very unpleasant guy as well. So, it seems so far that nobody has any real moral high ground in this situation. Unless I'm mistaken, then please enlighten me.

skallagrim has little to do with the Rebellion, aside from a run in in the past.

The Rebellion oppose Rilla, the Sacred, Ouro, and Joseph, because they are dicks - of the highest calibur. Including several attempts to mass murder everyone and each other. The Rebellion see them, or rather did - Only Joseph and Ouro made the jump to the new multiverse - as threats to society, Gods and Kings that needed to be put down for the betterment of man, and essentially survival. So, in essence, they are good guys. Insofar as intention.

Personality? They are decent there as well, honestly.

While I have nothing but a cursory dabbling in Rilla's mythos, here is a quick outline of mine to give you an idea of what is going on.

The Dreaming Mythos:

The Xindhi is a species of beings from a world five times the size of earth and three times the gravity. They are an old species having been birthed about four billion years after the birth of the multiverse. Throughout their brutal existence they evolved through their technology into mastering their energy forms. Not all Xindhi adopt the energy forms of Aesr, retaining their flesh forms for untold millennium.

Their form of government is a parliamentary monarchy, with the Dreaming Queen as the head of the empire, while her Gothi run the day to day empire. The War of Pattern occurred when Prince Autik sought to seize the throne from his sister. He was defeated and sent to the Shroud. Shroud is a pocket dimension where only the galdhr can be accessed. Being driven mad, Autik took the name Ghoukas, Lord of Nightmares and mastered the galdhr to a degree far beyond even the power of his sister. He broke free and gathered an army, the Nightmare legions comprised of the Forgotten, Xindhi who follow him and Shu’fasa, monsterous creatures who see him as a God.

The second attempt to capture the Dreaming Empire resulted in the War of the Dreamers, where he was finally defeated after he consumed and destroyed 9 worlds throughout the multiverse as he sought to bring down his sister. In a final confrontation with Skallagrim he was bested and once again imprisoned in the Shroud. The Forgotten melted away in to the dark universe hiding in the shadows waiting for the day Ghoukas is free again.

The Shu’fasa have gone back to their universe still following Ghoukas and Jashta as gods, gathering strength to one day defeat the Dreamers in glorious battle.

Dramatis Personae.

Queen Scathach- the Dreaming Queen and leader of the Xindhi, the most powerful Gothi on the planet and possessor of the Soul Staff who resides in at the Dark Cathedral, a hidden fortress city rumored to hidden among the clouds.

Skallagrim the Cughtagh- he is the Queens champion and the opener of the Nightmare gate as well as its gateman. He possesses one of the three swords of Fate, Onverlich, and resides in the shadowed realms where he keeps watch over the dark paths of fate that weave their way into the world. He is the sworn enemy of Ghoukas.

Prince Autik- he is the younger brother to the Dreaming Queen and a powerful physical specimen. He attempted to over throw his sister during the failed War of Patterns. Defeated, he was spared death and exiled to the Shroud, a realm where the Xindhi is removed from the seidhr, leaving only the galdhr. During his exile in the Shroud he descended into madness. Finally renouncing his seidhr, mastering and developing the galdhr to a degree far suprassing even the most skilled masters. During his madness he adopted the name Ghoukas, Lord of Nightmares and forged the black sword Dust. He commands the Nightmare legions and is feared throughout the Dreaming Mythos. His followers are called the Forgotten and have turned away from the teachings of the seidhr, learning and strengthening their mastery of galdhr.

OK I took sometime and now have a pretty good picture of what is going on. However, I did want to reiterate. Skallagrim defeated the Lord of Nightmares and sealed him back into the Shroud. Does that mean he is a good guy? Cause I've been having a hard time with relating good and evil with this stuff as it seems that yes the Dreamers aren't hurting people and destroying things, but then they don't exactly seem like nice people despite that. I also have to wonder how there people deal with different kinds of otherworldly beings. Since he is now in a city riddled with multidimensional travel technology, space time distortion, and hundreds to thousands of hostile people looking to specifically pick a fight with anyone, in order to prove themselves. He sure seems to visit some pretty sketchy places. I mean what if one of the Forgotten managed to figure out the universe hopping tech or steal someone else's universe hopping tech, and use it to free the Lord of Nightmares. The RHL could breed some insane conflict if left unchecked, but then again having that danger could be favorable at a later date. Sorry I tend to get excited and launch into conspiracy theory when I see a bunch of cool ideas come together.

It's too late for me to catch up on all this reading tonight, but I'll just pop in and say I might do something here eventually. Seems like a little story is brewing here or something. I wonder how Evvie will fit into all of it. I'm not sure if she has any official canon with any of your characters at the moment.

Well The Dreamers are an ancient species, so they tend to have a very different outlook on things anyways. But good and evil are relevant to the acts in question. There is a Forgotten loose, Rilla has decided to craft a Forgotten character and take it in his direction. We discusses it and as long as he keeps within the general mythic frame work he can do what he wants. Which is why Skallagrim (IC) is keeping an eye on things.

You are correct, if the Lord of Nightmares were released it would provoke another war between the Dreamers and the Forgotten/Nightmare Legions.

The Dreamers are less good/evil as they are more observers and collectors of data. However they can and will destroy worlds or even entire stellar civilizations if they deem it necessary to further their own existence.

Sorry to gush, but I love all this stuff. It is all fascinating and well written. I have always been a fan of these kinds of crazy ideas, Despite my own lack of ability to properly elaborate complex ideas. I have even gone as far as to force myself to keep things simple this time around, so as not to needlessly over complicate things, again.

So maybe this is me just grabbing my tin foil had and bucket helm early, but do we need to be concerned about another war? Given Rilla is using a Forgotten character. I wondered whether or not he is the type to breed not just conflict, but epic conflict. I pf course would still be interested in trying to become part of the insanity. Though given the circumstances. I would play a bit of a back ground roll. Unless specifically targeted or addressed by the bigger players on the field. This is not me being shy. I am legitimately trying hard to not to over due things this time around. I feel my biggest weakness as a role player is causing things to get too complicated. I get excited and end up introducing a level of chaos to things that is hard for others to cope with. So this time around I am going to try to play back ground character for a bit. At least until my character and I get a good handle on things.
