"We met for a reason, either you're a blessing or a lesson."

Name;
Kai Alana

Nickname;
K

Age;
31

Date of Birth;
TBD

Gender;
Cis-Male

Sexuality;
Bisexual

Occupation;
Hula Dancer

Likes;
Dancing, Exercising, Swimming, Cartoons, Dogs.

Dislikes;
Smokers, Drunks, Alcohol, drugs, Cold weather.

Fears;
Fire, Drinking Again, Using Drugs again.

Hobbies;
Exercising, Playing the Ukulele.

Personality;
Kai is Ambitious, Sympathetic and confident, though he can be irresponsible and rash. He cares deeply for people either who he just met them or knew them for a long time and is supportive of others. He has a rather short attention span and needs to be on the move or doing something to keep his mind on track. But he suffers from an addictive personality, as he doesn't have much self-control and has to try very hard not to do anything self-destructive and addictive.

Place of Origin;
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.

History;
Kai was the middle child of three, his mother was a hula dancer and his father was a chef. Kai was always close to his siblings, his parents were always busy with work trying to support all five them, so Kai and his siblings were always on their own and his older sister was alike a mother to him and his younger sister. But they were a loving and supportive family who always put others before themselves, Kai was an active child, often playing outside and picking up sports he could play, like Surfing, swimming and his life passion, Hula. When he was of age he joined a Hula school where he practiced each day and whenever he had free time, his love of dancing stem from how much he looked up to his mother, she was everything he wanted to be when he was older, Kind, compassionate and patience, and he wanted to make her proud. When he started schooling he was never good at it compared to his physical aptitude, he was always lacking behind and never had enough focus for school. And didn't help he fell into the bad crowd when he was in high school. A group of drug users and punks, he was only friends with them because he knew them as kids and he didn't want them to get in trouble when he could help them. Though he never did anything bad or illegal people were worried and suspicious of him. It wasn't until he graduated high school when his life spiraled out of control. His father became terminally ill, he was the main breadwinner of the family so when he became sick he and his siblings had to get jobs and support the family and to raise the money for their father medicine and care. This point in his life was extremely stressful that even dancing and exercising could ease him. His best friend ask him if he wanted to try a drug to ease his mind, and a moment of weakness he accepted, which made his life more chaotic. While the drugs help him keep calm at first he always experimented more and more with them and had become dependent on them for years. Even after his father went into remission and the family need to pay for expensive medicine. His drug use was always the elephant in the room for the family they knew about it but never talked about it hoping he would stop himself before he gets hurt. He never got hurt from it, but he was at risk of being hurt or killed, so after years of silence the family had an intervention, Kai quits cold turkey, not realizing how much he had worried his family and how he should have stopped years ago. And, brutally ended his friendship with the person who first gave him the drugs. The pair are now frosty and at times outright vicious. Though after going cold turkey he had troubles then and now of relapsing whenever he gets stressed from work or life, but he has never gone back to the destructive addition. Now he has a stable life as a Hula dancer at a hotel and a house of his own not far from his family. But lately strange things have been happening, things that he can't explain, and things from his past might be catching up to him.

Personality:
A quiet obedience instilled into the heart of a young man bears a fire left unkempt and raging—untampered by greedy hands and cold hearts. Within the determination a passion sets aflame the reservations of a man born of desperation. Foxtrot seethes with a quietness and a mindfulness that utters calm into the very heart of a storm. And within that storm his emotions shush the thunderous booms of the voices screaming in his mind. It seeps into the very fabric of his skin with every intent to lock away the anger and pain—to pinpoint every piece of those emotions and save them. Because once that moment comes and everything falls into place—everything he's worked so hard to achieve—it all comes in a thunderous storm of grace, precision, silent rage. Fox is every bit the man he claims to be: quiet, obedient, calm. And he is every bit the man he hides from the light of other: thunderous, deadly, iron.

Place of Origin:
Born - Edinburgh, Scotland
Residence - Pourtsmouth, England

History:
Long, sweet, Scottish nights through the bustling Edinburgh, stars clouded by the haze of fog overhead. A lasting impression on a young boy just as sweet, carried by a mother likely to overbear on the sugar. Living there left much at the boy's disposal, though his family had its roots uplifted. From apartment to apartment, ones worse than the other, and his father a quiet fisherman tied to the coast of the town. There wasn't much of him; there never was. And Fox settled in with his mother, a force strong in his life—she may not have provided much, but she did what she could.

The harshness of the North Sea didn't spring up much often. Something like that waits, contemplates, and when fate tips the scales, it unleashes fury—raw, ill tempered. Precarious though it seemed and precarious though it was, fate never quite willed his father's thread to break. His mother's broke like twine. And in her wake, his father found fortune that set his family high in wealth and status.

Without her, it meant nothing.

Two days after her death, Foxtrot's father returned with news of his fortune. Oil struck in the Middle East for a grandfather on the raw end of a deal long past. Excitement took hold too quick and too fierce and in the night of celebration, warm whisky and spirits abound, his grandfather broke ill—in the irony, his heart failed after surviving so much. With the will having gone unchanged, the fortune, the new company, the oil, and the land bestowed a grand fortune on his one and only child. With wife dead and gone, however, and a boy stricken with her face, Fox's father would have nothing to do with his child. An aunt more willing to care for him, rather than herself, refused the money outright, though came upon years later regardless of her wishes.

Life became nothing more than the shadow of his father's disappointment and the continuous grieving of an unloved woman. Though intelligent and cunning, Fox found nothing within the confines of education that filled the emptiness in his life. And that grew and grew through the insipidness of university until finally Fox broke under. Impulse driveth man to do many a curios thing; impulse found its way into Fox and Fox found his way into the tedium of military life. The constant adrenaline kept the ghosts at bay and the movement, the organization, the predictability of it all shoved everything plaguing aside.

The Royal Navy offered him the sea. And the cool waters of the ocean turned the migraine of his father into a quiet buzz that blended into the white noise of life around him. But the rage never quite lost its grip; it held tight and vibrating, wanting and needing in its avarice. Ambitious as he was, Fox only did so to keep calm and quiet—the buzz of a ship felt the same as the buzz of anger and sadness. The drum of adrenaline that broke shivers down his spine filled the hole ice and let it stay until the water melted away.

A storm wakes on the corner of his vision—eyes crawling and voices hushed in sleepless nights. With what the world bears him, it's easy to see a man going out of his mind. Deep breaths. Count to ten. And it doesn't matter that someone else watches in the mirror as he watches the haggard heave of his father's dying breaths. Shame and accusation forever tumbles from the breaths he takes. But he can't make himself leave—not after everything.

Extra:
Was deployed for four years before returning to Portsmouth.
Thinking of retiring from the Navy, but is honestly of afraid of stopping and letting everything he's pushed away rush headlong.
His father is stricken with intestinal cancer and has an estimated few years to live. He's been moved to a hospital closer to his son, so Fox can watch over him.
His mother and father named him Foxtrot because it was their favorite dance and because, as a baby, he couldn't stop kicking his feet.
Got accepted to Oxford and Cambridge, but decided to go to Cardiff instead. He currently has a degree for psychology... which he doesn't really use.

A tie between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Sense8.

Occupation;
ER Nurse (Night Shift)

Likes;
Sports, Cats, Dogs, Books, Midnight

Dislikes;
Cars, Alcohol, Drugs, Family Events,

Fears;
Vehicular Accidents, Drowning, Public Performances, Thunderstorms, Housefires

Hobbies;

Personality;
There are two sides to Chris. One side is the nurse who will pin you to the ground and drug you if you are being a danger to yourself and others. The other side is the nurse who will sit by your side and listen to you talk about your grand kids, work gossip, and everything else because you’re lonely and dying. The two are not drastically different from one another, as they both just want to help you get better.

She is soft, warm, and every bit of a kitten that many people thinks of her. She’s like a child who’s going to give you flowers, buy you candy, and play in the park with you. She will listen to you talk about the same story over and over again because she knows it makes you happy, and she’ll stay up with you to watch trashy movies because your special other broke up with you. Even if you don’t have a good reason she’ll pick up an extra shift so you can go out and have fun. She’s devoted to you and the job, and she’s good at dealing with both.

She may look like an angel, and you may be right, but do not assume that angels won’t fight back. She knows what one vein will kill you if you cut it, and the right amount of drugs will put you out, but maybe she’ll just let you bleed out a painful death. Maybe she doesn’t want you to die so maybe he’ll just pin you the ground and break your arms because the pain and the shock will definitely hinder you, but she will patch you up afterwards, but not without limiting your movements somehow. So you better treat her nicely and respect her because she may be responsible whether you die or not.

Place of Origin;
Manila, Philippines

History;
Chris is a city girl, born and raised in the heart of Manila. Her family comes from old money, upholding traditions and a lifestyle akin to Philippine royalty full with ties to the political world public and underground. They had houses in the city, and provinces. They had a staff that helped them in their houses from nannies, drivers, maids and chefs. The family businesses were globally successful, a small empire really in spite of the fluctuating economy. Others would think her life would be full of joy and extravagance, and they would be right, but only when she was young.
They were very much a happy family at the start of it all. Her mother was caring, and her father strict. She had three older siblings who she loved and played with. For a while, they thought that their small family would grow. They expected a little brother or maybe a sister, but an accident took that and her mother away from him. The accident left a hole in their lives, and drove a wedge between them all especially between Chris and her father who never really saw her as anything than a girl.

Things eventually got quiet. Everyone went their separate ways. His father ran left his business and entered the world of politics. The eldest, her brother followed took over the world of business where he continued to grow the small empire. It was a much-loved move by their father. Her older sister took to the world of the stars where her beauty, assets, and charm gave her infamy. Chris went to university where she finally started her own life.

Chris’s athletic prowess, combined with her intellect had taken her to a good school where she could be himself away from prying eyes and the news. She was in the school’s soccer team where she participated and brought home glory to the school as a part of the team, behind the curtains where she could be himself. She entered the world of science and healthcare where she could see the world objectively away from things such as politics, business, and celebrities. She hid in a world where she found love in a woman who loved him back.

In the darkness, the two grew together, but eventually Chris’s life caved in when her father’s pursuit of power destroyed the happiness she had built for himself. Someone seeking to ruin his father’s campaign exposed her secret life. Pictures and videos were uploaded online made public. The person she loved the most left. Her father wanted nothing of her, disowned her and left her in the dust, and she wanted nothing of her sibling’s fake sympathy and kindness. Parts of Chris were torn, but another was joyous.

After graduating from university, she bounced from one job to another while undergoing training. Eventually she had landed a job as a nurse in a more than decent hospital in the city. Over the years, her skill set grew and so did her desire to help people. Her abilities as a healthcare professional widened and his talents expanded beyond a simple aid. She built herself up to work night shifts in the ER where her ability to shut herself out and focus on the task could help people. It was a tiresome job, and near thankless job. Her life was less than luxurious, but at least she was finally doing what she could without the shadow of someone who never tried to be a father.

"One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words."
- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Name;
Dalia Schnur

Nickname;

Age;
31

Date of Birth;
TBD

Gender;
Female

Sexuality;
Bisexual

Occupation;
Psychiatrist

Place of Origin;
Israel

Likes;
self-improvement, quality cuisine, tea, zen-buddhist literature, sensory disorder (city noise, mixed grasses, dappled sunlight)

Dislikes;
indecision, dishonesty, laziness, ignorance, any attempts at closeness to her own person

Fears;
attachment, loss

Hobbies;
regular Krav Maga practice, fine dining

Personality;
While capable empathically, Dalia doesn't acknowledge her own emotions, which are much dulled and repressed, but extant. She spends significant effort at improving herself in physical and mental capacities to distract from emotions, and her natural health affords both. Similarly, instead of having emotional experiences, Dalia prefers to have sensual experience, whether taste, sight, sound, or other pleasures. She makes an effort not to allow emotions to foster, which generally means keeping detached from people, including family.
Her chosen profession is primarily just that: a profession, but is also a way to sample and deconstruct emotions from a safe distance.
Dalia does not generally allow anyone to be more than a casual or work acquaintance. If anyone attempts to become more familiar with her than that, she will generally deflect their interest into an easier venue.

History;
Dalia grew up in a fairly secular family, and inherited their lack of need for the supernatural. Her father provided much more warmth than her mother growing up, and when he died as Dalia was 15, she found herself wanting not to experience the pain of loss ever again, and to excise the emotion. At that age, it didn’t especially work, but the seed was planted. Dalia went through the rest of her schooling by keeping people at as much a distance as she could stand to, having a few friends, a couple unpursued romantic interests, but nothing more. She found that by feigning interest in the affairs of others, she was able to more successfully keep them occupied, and herself distant. The suggestion eventually filtered through school and family that she should be a therapist, given how good a listener she was, and Dalia had to agree it was a skillset she possessed.
Still: like many in the nation of her birth, on graduating from secondary school, Dalia served in the Israel Defense Forces. While she did not experience any direct combat, the opportunity to train her body proved appealing, as did the discipline and structure she found. The latter proved to be a false sense of security though, when the possibility of romantic entanglement even in that place arose. As it had been some time since she’d permitted romance, and her only previous *romantic* interests had been male, it had been especially surprising to fall for girl. When, for the first time in years, Dalia allowed herself to indulge in emotion, and expressed her interest to the other party, the response was a superior taking her aside to explain allegations of sexual harassment. Fortunately, no one wanted the publicity of pursuing this, and Dalia was allowed to continue serving quietly, with a new competence in not feeling.
On finishing her mandatory years of service, Dalia found herself wanting to deconstruct human emotions via the educational route that had been established as an interest by her family: psychiatry. By the time she’d finished her mandatory service, the friends who’d been interested in her future had faded from her that position. Now free of many of her old social obligations, and with some small amount of money from her years in the IDF, Dalia was able to pursue hobbies outside of her education, including a continued practice of the Krav Maga she’d learned in her military years.

Extra;
Hm. Arrested Development or Samurai Champloo. Sense8 is cool too, obviously.

“The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man.”

Name:
Jørn Hansen

Nickname:
Birdman

Age:
31

Date of Birth:
April 29

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Occupation:
Wildlife Cameraman

Likes:
  • Wildlife (birds and amphibians in particular)
  • The coast
  • Rain
  • Old architecture
  • Acoustic Music
  • Cooking

Dislikes:
  • Loud people: yelling, loud parties...
  • Violence
  • Action movies
  • Sports
  • Hot weather
  • Seafood (except for shrimp)

Fears:
  • Fire
  • Traffic
  • Falling off of a considerable height
  • Losing his loved ones

Hobbies:
  • Photography
  • Playing the (bass)guitar
  • Hiking

Personality:
Adventurous and restless at heart, Jørn loves going outdoors and loves experimenting, be it with photography or be it with food. Despite his venturous nature, he does get homesick easily.
Jørn is a man of few words; he rather speaks through actions than through words. He cares deeply for those close to him and occasionally shows this through small sings of affection such as doing chores for them, or randomly buying little gifts for them, or organizing intimate dinners. Although he is always there for his family and friends, he tends to bottle up his own emotions. Instead he is left fretting about what is troubling him for days.
Jørn is also a bit of a perfectionist; he wants certain things (photographs, dishes, his bed) to be just right. When they aren’t exactly the way he wants them to be he can get a bit fed up with himself for not getting them flawless.

Place of Origin:
Jørn was born in Ebeltoft, in the center of Denmark. He currently lives in Copenhagen, where the headquarters of the magazine he works for is located.

History:
Jørn was born as an only child to two loving parents. His dad was away from home most of the time, running a hotel, while his mom stayed home to take care of the household and care for her child. Growing up in one of the greener parts of Denmark, Jørn often could be found outside, either playing or, when his mom wasn’t paying attention, exploring his surroundings.

All in all, the first few years of his life were pretty peaceful. This changed however when his dad found out his mom had started seeing another man. In the time that followed, the two were frequently fighting. Although Jørn's father stayed relatively calm, it was mostly his mother that raised her shrill voice, trying to defend herself, blaming her husband for always being somewhere else, for not being there for them, for only thinking about himself.
It was in these moments, that Jørn's wanderlust started to grow even more, leading him outside, towards the shore, as far away from home as possible. Away from the yelling, the accusations, the grudge. The only voices here were the raspy breath of the wind, and the soft calling of the gulls and terns.
In the beginning the fighting couple didn't even notice their child would leave the house; they were too busy noticing the flaws in each other.

Even after his parents eventually parted, his mom leaving Jørn and his father, unable to continue living together with the man, Jørn would often return to the place. It was in nature that he had found his peace of mind. Slowly he grew accustomed to the landscape, and he found himself interested in the animals roaming the area.
With Jørn's mother gone, his father decided to quit his job and find a new one that allowed him to spend more time with his son. Over time, their bond grew, and Jørn showed where he had been hiding during rougher moments. His dad was impressed; both by the beautiful scenery and by the knowledge the young boy had gained about the wildlife.

Although Jørn did pretty well in secondary school, he did not want to devote himself to studying an ordinary subject or profession. Instead, he enrolled for the highly praised European Film College, located in his hometown. Here he learned the tricks of the trade, learning about lighting, perspective, framing... It was also here that he met his current girlfriend Stine, a fellow student who had a passion for filming, albeit that her field of interest differed from his; while Jørn focused on making documentaries, Stine wanted to make short drama films her expertise.

Very quickly after graduating Jørn, together with some other graduates, got asked to work on a documentary for which they had to travel across the globe for a few years. Although Jørn had a load of fun filming -- becoming acquainted with subjects he had never looked into before, and going sightseeing in between shots -- he also missed his homeland, his father and girlfriend.
After five years of intensive labor the crew was done filming and Jørn arrived back in Denmark with an intense feeling of satisfaction; both because he felt he had done some great work, but also because he could finally set foot on familiar ground again.
When he reunited with Stine he promised her he wouldn’t be away again for so long. Not long after this the two decided to move in together. They didn’t reside in this apartment for long however, because soon his father had found the perfect job for him. A connection of his worked for a national nature magazine which was still looking for a cameraman. Although it would be stills that Jørn would be shooting rather than moving frames, and even though it required him to move to Copenhagen, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Jørn now lives together with Stine in Copenhagen, and he still works for the magazine. His main job is to serve as a wildlife cameraman, but sometimes the editors of the magazine allow him to add in a bit of commentary to the articles.
Although his life has been very rosy for the past two years, lately he has been having strange visions. He explains this is as due to lack of sleep.

Extra:
Jørn has a mild form of anxiety. He often has doom scenarios pop up in his mind, but this does not affect him too much; it only makes him feel a bit uneasy. He also worries about small things, and has trouble falling asleep.

A song which fits him quite well: Mark Knopfler – Get Lucky

My current favorite is The Bridge (Bron/Broen), but Sense8 is really cool as well.

“Every good story starts with a bad decision”

Name; Steven McKinley
Nickname; Steve
Age; 31
Date of Birth; TDB - Spring?

Gender; Male
Sexuality; Bi

Occupation; Writer

Likes;
    Reading/Writing
    People watching
    Puzzles/Mysteries
    Exotic food
    Good conversations

Dislikes;
    Writer’s block
    Being bossed around

    Ignorance
    Lies/Liars

Fears;
    Permanent injury/loss of ability
    Betrayal
    Clowns

Hobbies;
    Sketching/Doodling
    Electronics

Personality;
Steven is innately open and curious, always looking around, poking his nose into things, trying to figure out what makes them tick. He is open and friendly, always willing to sit and chat, even if there is something he should really rather be doing. Fairly disorganized, he is surrounded a by a clutter of books, half completed projects and notebooks filled with sketches and scribbles, though he doesn’t mind as long he can root around and find the thing is he looking for at that moment. While he appears easygoing at first, his first instinct in a confrontation is to push back just as hard, and he has a wide stubborn streak that has gotten him into trouble more than once - as has his curiosity.

Place of Origin;
Australia - Born in Perth, now living in Sydney.

History;
Born to strict and controlling parents, Steven often chafed at the restrictions placed upon him growing up, preferring to read or wander off in search of answers rather than apply himself to his schoolwork. With high expectations, his parents tried many different techniques to try and get him to focus on his studies, but to little avail, and they eventually decided to send him to a boarding school in a last-ditch effort to instill some discipline into their son. The next years were unhappy ones for Steven, who did not flourish at all in the confining environment of the dormitory, instead finding solace in his books, escaping to the different worlds within.

He finally graduated high school with solid if unspectacular grades and immediately moved away to begin travelling, backpacking around both Australia and overseas, taking temporary or seasonal work to pay his way. He refused to let the possibility of danger sway his travel plans, travelling instead to places he thought would be interesting or enlightening, something that led him into trouble numerous times as fighting broke out or the area proved hostile to foreigners. On one particular occasion he had to spend of couple of days hiding in the basement of a friendly local before making a break to safer territory. He had several relationships over his travels, though they rarely lasted a long time as he kept traveling, though the usually ended more or less amicably.

It was during this time period as well that he wrote the story that would become his first book “The Haunted Comet”, receiving a small advance and some minor royalties in return for it. While it never made much of an impact, he felt an undeniable sense of achievement for getting his name on the cover of a book, even if it was (in his own words) a trashy paperback. Eventually he moved back to Australia and settled down, renting a small apartment in Sydney. He fully intends to take up travelling again, though at the moment he is concentrating on working on his next story. He recently got back into contact with his parents, and though still rocky, is on speaking terms with them.

Extra;
He is conversational in several language, including French, German and Chinese, but not fluent.
Favorite show changes, but DS9 and Sense8 are both good watches
