Mother. Mother is her name. She created a new world for us when ours was sick and dying. This world is one of wonderful things, from the scientists that reside at the bottom of the ocean, past the farmers who till the deserts, all the way to the aviators that rule the skies and mountains. Everything here was meant to live in peace with one another, for brother to help brother, and to keep our new world healthy.
And what should we expect of human nature other than to want more? Mother was soon forgotten, her heart heavy with regret. She felt it was her fault for the wars and massacres; the innocent blood spilled and hatred that pooled below the planet's crust. Fading, she gave vigil of the land to her two brothers. Drundge, of the desert, and Smorg, of the sea. Together they watched the mountains that stretched across the horizon, praying for the day they would see their dear sister again.
Few remember Mother, least of all the humans, but her children still remain masters of the skies, presenting themselves to those they deem worthy and forever watching over the mountain's people.

Aerians
Orthians
Hydrenians
Shadow Kin
The mountains are full of many creatures. Goats, feral cats, birds of varying species, all of abnormal size. In this world, however, there are also pegasi, rocs, griffins, phoenixes, hippogrifs, and dragons. Aerians are masters at taming all of these beasts. The other two regions deem the dragons a myth, but they are very ral to Aerians.
At the age of 13, each Aerian is given a choice to be selected for a life companion. The creature itself chooses its partner, and they become eternally bound. If the beast dies, the master will become internally sick; if the master dies, so does the beast.
Dragons are the exception. A dragon can choose a companion without being bound, whether that companion already has a beast or not. Few Aerians are selected by dragons, but they all interact with them on a somewhat regular basis.
Aerians are specificly evolved for mountain climate. They tend to have a slim, paler appearance with elongated ears, for better hearing when in the air, and extra sensitive eyes, to better see the ground below them. They are the most sophisticated of the three races, in terms of understanding the world, the sky, how things work and correspond; their strong suits are sculpting, astronomy, astrology, cartography, navigation, and aviation. They are the only race with accurate maps of all three regions, due to their access of a bird's eye view.
Aerians live in structures carved out of the side of their mountain homes. Mostly stone, they are furnished with couches, chairs, tables, beds, and dressers woven entirely out of willow branches and clothed with soft cotton from the trees around them that produce it. Each Aerian provides a special touch to their home with whatever they desire. That touch is unique to them and only them.
This race is usually against violence and will avoid it as much as possible. However, if need be, Aerians are formiddable opponents.
Orthians
The desert is full of many creatures. Mostly giant reptiles, but also some desert type cats. Most common are barsons; abnormally large, scaley kangaroos without the pouches or ears. They are herbivores and have hard, flat teeth that can crack solid rock.
At the age of 13, each Orthian is given a choice to select a life companion. When this swlection is made, master and beast become eternally bound. If the beast dies, the master becomes internally sick; if the master dies, so does the beast.
Orthians are specificly evolved for desert climate. They have olive skin, from continuous exposure to the sun, elongated ears, for better hearing among the sand dunes and rocks, and specialized, translucent lids under their actual eyelid that close over their eyes to block out the sand. They are more knowledgable of the land; their strong suits are farming, geography, geology, zoology, navigation, and excavation. This race considers itself lower but better than the other two. They have a stubborn sense of false pride and big tempers.
Orthians live in catacombs dug under the sand. Like an ant hill, there are many tunnels that branch off to seperate rooms, or reconnect somewhere along the way. These spaces are furnished with beds, washbins, and sometimes dressers made of compacted sand and mud. All cloth is made from animal hide and is a very valuable material.
This race is quick to a physical attack and easily provoked. They enjoy violence and most view mercy as a weekness. Although their temper is great, it does not impare their ability to fight.
Hydrenians
The oceans and islands are full of many creatures. Fish, mammals, and amphibians alike. Most common are the scalins; giant salamanders with shark's teeth and small claws on each webbed finger. They are carnivores and eat mostly fish.
At birth, each Hydrenian is given a life partner because they believe it is imparative to have one. Most of the time, the parents pick the animal for thei child, but sometimes the baby picks the animal, or the animal picks the baby.
Hydrenians are specificly evolved for an aquatic climate. They have thick, near transparent skin, webbed fingers and ears, and gills that seal off, as well as a pair of lungs. They are more knowledgable of the sea but are also technologically inclined; their strong suits are biology, marine biology, botany, marine botany, engineering, and pharmacology. They are the only race to harness electricity, and it is all hydropower; environmentally friendly.
Hydrenians live in houses constructed of rare metals found only in the depths of oceans. All furnishings are made of the same materials, and each house is electrically powered. Some civilizations rest on, or just off shore of, the beaches of islands, but most are either under or just above the ocean's surface.
Hydrenians do not believe in conflict at all and have never felt the need for it. They much prefer a quieter, more peaceful society and will never result to violent behavior.
Shadow Kin
Shadow Kin do not have their own form, so they assume the shape of whatever creature they come in contact with while they're still young; they retain the ability to shift into whatever they want, even if they think it up themselves. Shadow kin emit a dark aura that draws other creatures with a dark sense to them; like they has their own orbit. This also impairs the Shadow Kin's ability to sense other dark entities. They live secretly among the other races. Shadow Kin age at 1/4 human rate. Example;
A 6 year old Shadow Kin is 24 human years old, but they can appear whatever age they wish.

-Ecrin is the larger Orthian village. It's basically an anthill in the dessert.
-Blencalgo is the smaller Orthian village. It's above ground among red stones, built around a rather large oasis.
-Seameet is the terrestrial part of the Hydrenian colony. The rest of it is just off shore.
-Doncaster is the Aerian village. It's carved into the mountain side just above a small valley with a wide river.
-Nobody has ever been to Sharnwick, so what's there is unknown.

If you have a dragon character, you must also have either an Aerian, Orthian, or Hydrenian! One dragon per player, please! Also, I have to personally approve all Shadow Kin characters before you even make a sheet.
Every once in a while I will recap the story.
