[OOC] We Are the Crystal Gems

That is a bit of a problem I've tried to curb on character creation, but I've trouble limiting myself. What is the most worrying thing? If it's the overload, that is usually going to be a one post thing, maybe two, because it's a last resort thing, so he's usually going to be pretty drained when he finally does use it. To get 3 full post of that, he'd have to be fully charged.

Energy manipulation is always kind of a sticky area because it is incredibly hard to hurt that kind of being because they adsorb the damage if they are about to get hurt and if they get close to their limit then they just get rid of the energy or start using it in a different way so they can absorb while they are doing that. It just seems like it will get to either an over powering point or you will have to hold back all the time which is no fun for you.

He can only absorb energy from things like lasers and stuff, he can't absorb any energy from a punch, and even if he could, it wouldn't provide much and he has to be completely still and focused in order to gather said energy.

Energy is energy. Being able to absorb means all forms and the more energy you have the more damage you can do. This is where the realm of over power begins. Yes he has to stay still and focus but if he is always storing and releasing then he has a lot of room to absorb any big attack. He could lose focus for a split second but then he has weapons to fall back on quickly or taking that absorbed energy and just using it in whatever way he wants.

See what I am saying? There isn't much of a down fall. The only down fall is always having to release energy which isn't much of a down fall.

Is there anyone in our roster that really uses energy to fight? Also, his fighting style doesn't go in line with that type of strategy of tanking hits either, as his main thing is agility and keeping on the move. And while energy is energy, he can't absorb kinetic energy, only stuff like what comes from the sun or fire or lasers. Heat-based energy, I guess. Also, if he gets hit by a big attack, like you say, he's still going to feel it. It might not be as bad, but it'll still hurt a lot because it's a big attack and he doesn't negate all the damage. And it's not like he can snap his fingers to enter this state of energy collection, it's like meditation, it takes a little while to get into the zone and when he's in it, he can't just snap back out.

If he can only absorb heat based attacks not all energy that is a bit better. I think you need to state that more clearly though because it does no come across that way and energy manipulation is a big power most of the time. The limitation of certain powers does help with some of my worries on the matter since you already did well in stating how the power is released and that releasing all of it is bad and doesn't last long.

The big worry now has to do with this question, what side will he be on? It is retaliative and important, I will explain why in a moment.

He's kinda like Eve, except while her issue is trust, his is pride. He's not likely to join either side right out the gate because he feels that it would be demeaning of him to join a group, which is the same as accepting help to him. The only reason he'd join a side is if one side pissed him off bad enough or if he made a rather good friendship with somebody. He's likely not going to join Homeworld, however, as Bloodstone demands obedience that Mars just isn't going to give.

The reason I asked is because if he joined Bloodstone's side than Ambers power is null which isn't a bad thing since we have a lot of gems on the Crystal side however, if he was on the Crystal side...it would be like a major cheat cause Amber controls fire and Mars would run on heat but now that you describe him a bit, he would never let Amber do that because of the whole pride thing.

@Akayaofthemoon Mars would never stand for such an embarrassment as asking some to make a fire for him to absorb energy from. And Amber wouldn't be as nulled as you think, since again, he has to be in his energy collection state to do that, which would leave Amber completely free to take his Mallet and slam it straight into Mars face for being an idiot. The energy absorbtion thing has extremely limited combat capabilities, and is always better used before a battle ir when you have back up. Hence comes the problem that'll definitely come up if he's ever on a team, he'll run outta juice, a team member will offer to watch his back, he'll get insulted by the offer and charge into the heat of the fight. Mars sense of pride is going to get him into a lot of trouble, I can already tell.

Yeah, that is what I thought after hearing more about him. I will approve as long as you make the heat energy absorption more of a clear thing and you will also have to get @Kronshi approval of course.

Of course, made a little edit already, and will do a full one in the morning.

Also, the only time that Mars will ever accept help is fusion, as that's the only thing that can overcome his pride, first timme because of the curiousity, the rest because of the experience. I already have an idea for Mars and Spinel's fusion weapon: A disc launcher that fires discs of energy at foes. Man, I want to see that, cause I know it's going to be awesome.

Marra Mamba + Aquamarine= Shakujõ, a type of prayer staff that also can be used as a weapon

Marra Mamba + Evenkite = Trident, two pronged spear, bow and arrow(a bit of a stretch, but it could work)

Marra Mamba + Sodalite= Saw blade gauntlet

Azurite + Marra Mamba= Bladed Brass knuckles

Azurite+Spinel= Wrist mounted Dagger launchet?

Azurite+Amber= Mega Gauntlets/Hammer Hands/Clawed Gauntlets

Marra Mamba+Emerald= Crescent-shaped Blade/Khopesh

Marra Mamba+Zircon= Spiked/Bladed Ring Blade(Giant versio ofna chakram with blades/spikes sticking out around the blade)

Any thoughts on my character or the current fusion ideas I put up to help Kronshi a bit in case he needs it.

@RaijinslayerAwesome idea for Mars' fusion with Sodalite. I was thinking like a spinning saw blade gauntlet.

Also, I do think that he would be much more effective on Blood's team, and he could be a good rival to Amber, whom of which he can (pridefully)draw power from if the Hammer-swining gem give him too much trouble.

Love your gem, love the fusion ideas although the ones concerning azurite may need to be changed. The fact that the chakrams can break in half or even have a handle makes it a lot more versatile in combat and on fusion capabilities makin my life easier.

Question:how are the fusion weapons made

For example if azurite fused with pearl they could make a scythe(maybe)but if he fused with someone who had a war hammer....you see where I'm going with this?

The reason I provided an image was because that was a specific one that I think would work with Azureites fusion with a hammer user, Amber being a part of the example
