@21308well, being a superhero is rather common in this world. So much so that's it's an actual job to put your powers to use by protecting people and saving them from trouble. Superpowers are pretty common, and only a fair portion of the population does not have powers. For this, there is a mineral known as Vera, which can temporarily unlock powers hidden away inside people. Special technology has been created to bring out the most in a person using Vera, typically in a form of a belt that your Vera stone is inserted to. Different types of Vera can awaken different types and variations of powers, but there is also experimentations. Human experiments have been able to increase the Vera Power output tenfold, at the risk and usual loss of their normal shape and even sanity. While normal villains exists, Vera monsters also post a real threat, and so there are academies around the world that exist to train powered people and those who have Vera to use their powers to protect the world.

@pyroman I don't have anything super concrete in terms of character traits, but the power I wanted was for my character to be super for long enough to do one "thing " a day. That is, if my character needed to punt a skyscraper or like, be super fast for a minute, they could, but then theyd be an ordinary human for 24 hours. With this Vera stuff in the mix they'd be pretty OP though.

@21308yeah, Vera doesn't seem to have much of an effect of people who already have unlocked powers, unless of course that powered person is tampered with to take in Vera to make them even stronger, which can lead one down the road to becoming a Vera Monster. Powered People using Vera is considered taboo and dangerous
