Vanessa stared at the ceiling from the room which she used now for three days.. Today was her 17th birthday and tomorrow she would go on a summer camp. Her old neighbors had asked her to come over for a few days and she had said yes. The past year had been a big struggle... Exact a week after her sweet 16, a big fire had surprised Vanessa and her family and only she was the one that could escape from the fires. Her parents and her sister had been trapped and the fire man's had been too late. In one night, Vanessa had turned into a family-less orphan.
She had become very quiet and never really said more than four words. She had gotten nightmares about fire and seeing her family burn, screaming. After everything was settled around the funeral and the house, Vanessa had been placed under the care of her Aunt and Uncle. Her uncle was the older brother of her father but they never had a real family bond. Vanessa had lived with them in the center of New York for the past few months, pretending everything was alright for the outside but still had nightmares at night.
Three days ago, the old neighbors had called her aunt and uncle to ask if it was okay with them if she would come to stay over at their place. Without real hesitation, only a moment of a big smile towards each other and a nod, they had said yes and the next day Vanessa had been dropped of with a bag of clothes, a extra bag for the summer camp and a tent too use for summer camp at the house of her old neighbors. She had a great time so far and kinda felt at home here, with Xaven, her old neighbor boy which she always had called her personal 'Boy next door' since they only had each other during the time she did still live outside New York too, and his parents which where really nice.
His mother had asked her what kind of cake she wanted today but she said she didn't want anything.. And now? Now she was awake at 7:30 am, staring at the ceiling of the guest room and waited till she heard some sounds in the house. Would Xaven come to wake her just as he had done every morning so far? She didn't know.. He had been the first one to wake her up last night during a very bad nightmare.. She sighed and hated the night when she had the nightmares...
