Weapons
Bootlicker: Sporty and stylish. These are the first words that come to mind when you see this pair of sneakers, but seriously, they weigh much more than they look. In fact, one well-placed kick along the spine or at the back of your head can send you straight to hospital. The weight comes from the special alloy used to craft soles of the shoes. It may feel and look like metal, but this strange substance doesn’t seem to trigger any alarms when crossing customs at the airport. Hidden in the tip of the left shoe is a retractable blade coated with anti-alchemic poison. Given the muted sheen and coloring of the blade, it can be safely assumed that it is made from the same alloy. Releasing it requires a swift backward kick to the wall or clicking the heels together, whatever is easiest at that moment. (Note: The color and design can be customized at the start of each mission.)
Kitty Kat: Fingerless gloves that come in deep green, mauve, black or gray. Stripy patterns and polka dots are also available. Once activated in battle (by knocking the two fists together), the soft and pliable material hardens to form tiny, plated gauntlets with a spiked knuckles. Each spike is coated with anti-alchemic poison, so simply breaking a fellow Alchemist’s skin is enough to do some serious damage.
Hang Man: Like the gloves and sneakers, this scarf doesn’t have a fixed color or design, but it is usually seen tied round Tam’s waist, wrapped round his neck or tucked in his pocket. Sometimes, during battle, he may tie round his head or wrap it round his fist, but this fashion accessory is, in fact, a whip. While it measures just 110 cm (just over 3 ½ feet), when fully stretched, the scarf reaches an impressive 5 meters or 16 feet. Definitely a great way to bridge the distance quickly for any brawler.
Appearance
Have you seen a street kid in the slums? You know those punks that love hip-hop and vandalism, well that’s the first impression you get when you see Omari. Generally, many people mistaken him to be of Afro-American descent, but upon closer inspection, this dark-skinned boy with hazel eyes has features that doesn’t fit the type American male from that race group. His interesting skin tone, prominent nose, set jaw and more almond shaped eyes suggest suggests of a more mixed background. The exact mix is rather hard to tell, because he doesn’t seem to share similar features with the mixed race children of Caucasian and South Asian descent neither does he have similar features with those of Caucasian and Southeast Asian descent. Even a Chinese mix seems far-fetched.
That first impression is never far off, because Omar dresses like some hip-hop loving punk, unless instructed otherwise. That means baggy, hipster jeans (replaceable with slim cut jeans when needed), a baggy tee, a hoodie with the hood covering his head, shades and a baseball cap. His footwear of choice off mission is worn out, dirty looking converse sneakers with or without socks. These shoes will never be swapped for anything else even when he is wearing a tux. The only time he’d ever change his shoes is when holes start appearing. Another accessory he refuses to remove would be his digital watch – a piece of tech that Cams is rumored to be messing with recently. What it actually is, neither partner would say.
Don’t let the dirty shoes, hole-ridden socks, coarse skin on the underside of his palms and cracked nails fool you. Omar likes his long showers and scrubs. Perhaps his one indulgence when it comes to his wardrobe would be the herbal alternatives he chooses for his shampoo, soap and deodorant. This toiletries give off a faint pleasant whiff, when you stand closer to him.
Personality
Friendly and open, Omar isn’t the type to turn down a conversation, if you give him a chance. He is even thought to be pretty amicable, because he never disagrees with anyone. What most people don’t realize is that he prefers keeping his opinions to himself. Most of the time he has a generally pleasant voice and clear accent, but whenever he gets excited (which happens a lot) his pronunciation gets lazy, which results in him slurring slightly or dropping the last syllable. A good indication that he might not have learned English as his first language as a child, but when quizzed, he’d claim to have spoken English his entire life.
Omar loves socializing, hence it isn’t unusual to find him mingling with various cliques during the downtime back at HQ. All you need is to mention you heard about his latest plans and he would invite to tag along. However, to really get him to remember you, you must be someone sporty, energetic and raring for a good spar. He may be competitive deep down, but he loves getting bested. He views those moments as a great opportunity to improve.
During missions, he gives the impression of being overly passive, because he never demands for attention or volunteers to step up. He prefers hanging in the background and observing. He feels that the additional information would be an asset later on, when teamwork is required. While Cameron may hold back shedding innocent blood, Omar has no qualms killing anyone who gets in his way while he pursues his target.
