That was when people started noticing. Conspiracy theorists, religious freaks, and dark minds all looked to the Stars.

That was twenty years ago. Today, there are hundreds of Star-Children and an organization (Called Nova Infinitum) devoted to uniting them and attempting to understand what it is that makes their powers function.
This organization has discovered that, when undergoing intense physiological or psychological trauma, it is possible for oneβs star power to be βCorrupted,β wherein the mark turns black and the individualβs power increases. But it is at a cost. The only way to change the power is to basically torture the individual that has the mark; after this experience, the Corrupted Stars (as they are called) are no longer the same. They lose their hold on humanity, and on their sense of right-and-wrong. The power destroys them.
The organization continues to change Stars, being apathetic at best about the Corrupted ones going insane, killing themselves or each other. At last the truth comes out: The goal is to create an army of superhumans, the one-percenters who will take humanity to the next level. Of course, this is disguised behind "science" and "the good of humanity." Every star-child who watches the media will hear them talking about "enhanced" individuals (the media-friendly term for corrupted) and how incredible they are.

At this time, two other organizations emerge from the shadows, each with different motives.
From Shanghai, China comes Zodiac, an uncorrupt-supremacy group headed by Qinglong Bayakko. Their motivation? To eliminate every Corrupt star from the face of the earth. And perhaps to establish world domination, though that's secondary...
From Seattle, Washington, comes Cygnus-X, a "labor union" of sorts, protecting Star's rights. They want to see the whole Facility dismantled and Nova Infinitum gone up in smoke. Pioneered by a vengeful man, after seeing his beloved go mad from corruption, Cygnus-X is devoted to getting Stars out from under the "tyrannical monopoly" that is Nova Infinitum.
From England comes Project Astral under the command of Alex Masters.
MI6, the world renown British Intelligence Agency makes its home in London, and maintains a rigorous quality of top of the line agents ready for any task, prepared to do anything for The Crown and the peoples of the UK. MI6 has been following the development of the Stars from one of the first major incidents, and have been very quiet about it. MI6 is particularly interested in the military applications of such stars, and recommended the Americans at Nova Infinitum to try out their idea of the Ursa program. After a few years of their training, closely watched by MI6, they decided to attempt to make Star-Soldiers of their own, top of the line secret agents who would be the deadliest fighting force on the planet. They selected a Star among them, one Alex Masters, to head the project, called Project Astral.
Project Astral is for the explicit purpose of the training and development of Stars into effectively weapons, whether this means corruption or otherwise. They have just under one hundred people currently in training, which no one has completed. Their oldest trainee is currently 17.

This is to be a high-casual roleplay. There will probably be some dark themes involved. I would ask for mature role-players. This doesnβt mean you have to be over eighteen (I would almost encourage otherwise, to be honest) it just means that a) you must be able to write coherently; and b) you must be mature, as in, not pitching fits and rage-quitting, when things donβt go your way.
Obviously, romance is going to happen. Keep it PG-13, obviously, because site rules. Heh.

Del is of average height for his age, as well as of average weight class. His muscles are fairly developed, but he is by no means as burly as a football player of anything like that. In fact his body is very lithe, this is accentuated by the fact that he always wears clothing thatβs very easy to move in. T-shirts, shorts, and oftentimes heβll put on a beanie and wear his headphones around his neck. He tends to carry around his skateboard where he can. His dyed red hair oftentimes will make him stick out in a crowd, but his hair is naturally brown. He tends to have a tiny smile on his face with his inquisitive eyes looking around. Between his attire and hairstyle he puts out a very generic βskaterβ look.
Location & Notes on Star Mark: Del has two stars on either ankle. They are five pointed stars, stretched slightly so they appear almost as the wings on Hermesβ sandals.

Omni-Transport- Delβs power is an interesting one as itβs applications are very extensive. The power of Omni-Transport gives Del a host of abilities that allow him to move very quickly in almost any environment. The powers granted from this ability are as follows;
-Intuitive Vehicle Mastery: Del, upon so much as touching any vehicle, understands completely how to drive and operate such a vehicle, and is able to as though he was a master. This includes but is not limited to, cars, trucks, bikes, skateboards, and even more complex vehicles like airplanes.
-Limited Magnetism Polarity: Del has the ability to magnetize his hands and feet, as well as virtually all surfaces, allowing him to stick to them like a spider. This lets him perform feats of parkour impossible for a normal human, as well as perform feats such as climbing up a completely flat wall, and sticking to ceilings.
-Enhanced Speed: Del is considerably faster than an average human, though not by too much. He can consistently run at 35 miles per hour, and he can do a maximum of 40 MPH if he pushes himself extremely hard. Once he made it to fifty MPH, but snapped his achilles tendon in the process.
-Enhanced Musculature: Delβs muscles are a bit stronger and more enduring than normal humans. He can run and climb for extremely long periods of time without tiring, he can jump higher, farther, and faster than normal humans. He can also hit slightly harder than one would expect for someone in his weight class.
-No Need For Oxygen: Del did not develop lungs in the womb as his body has no need for oxygen. But to balance this, the energy required by Del to function means he must consume massive amounts of food, enough to feed four people. Since he requires no oxygen, he can be underwater or in space indefinitely. Additionally, Del still subconsciously goes through the motions of breathing in and breathing out, but he can cease these if he focuses.
-Enhanced Durability: Del is more durable than the average person, in certain conditions. For one reason or another, the deeper underwater Del goes, the more durable his body gets, as though to allow him to travel in such spaces. This durability also allows him survival in space. But this durability is inconsistent, as if you were to punch, shoot, or stab him, heβd suffer the same damage as a normal human being.
-Flight?: One of the powers Del has never managed to get very far with, he can levitate maybe two or three inches off the ground and no more than that. He thinks he could probably manage to fly one day, but he's not sure.

Del is and has always been a quiet boy, content to simply observe the world around him. he very rarely has anything to say, but when he does he is keen to make himself heard. Despite his quietness Del is strong willed, and wonβt back down for anyone. Despite this he is somewhat open minded, and likes hearing about other peopleβs opinions, but simultaneously, he very rarely will give up his own. He likes a good joke and will chuckle quietly when he hears one, but heβll rarely make one on his own. Heβs not a people person, yet heβs not directly opposed to being around people, heβll make small talk with those who talk to him but wonβt actively seek people out to converse with.
Del has a very strong sense of a right and wrong, and to him, something about the mysterious organization researching those with the power of the stars doesnβt seem right. Del sees his ability as a gift and uses it whenever he can, as he loves doing parkour and traversing around the city. In relation to the Corrupted, he wants to help them, but doesnβt know how.
Biography:
Del was born to two British people in the city of New York. More specifically, Queens. His parents were both fairly mundane people, they both worked standard 9 to 5 jobs in the city while Del went to school and stayed at home with his grandmother. Delβs grandmother was a very kind old woman who had a lot to teach Del about the world- and about his star marking. His grandmother was a conspiracy theorist to some degree, not because she actually believed in such things, but because she didnβt have much to do since her husband died. Once she saw Del had the star marking, a little light went on in her head as she made the connections, and she immediately went to researching all she could.
As soon as his grandmother discovered his markings, Delβs after school life became less and less about relaxation, and more and more about finding the limits of just what his ability was and its limits. He trained hard at it from the age of seven, all through until he was fourteen, at which point his grandmother passed away. It was then Del decided to reveal his fantastic abilities to his parents, only for them to shun him. They thought that, somehow, whatever magical thing causing Delβs ability had caused his grandmothers death. Distraught, Del packed a bag of meager supplies, money, grabbed his skateboard, and left home. Heβs been living on the street for about two years now. Life has been hard- Heβs been mugged, moneys gotten tight, and some nights he had trouble meeting the needs of his extreme diet. But heβs pulled through.

Del has a very strong sense of a right and wrong, and to him, something about the mysterious organization researching those with the power of the stars doesnβt seem right. Del sees his ability as a gift and uses it whenever he can, as he loves doing parkour and traversing around the city. In relation to the Corrupted, he wants to help them, but doesnβt know how.
Biography:
Del was born to two British people in the city of New York. More specifically, Queens. His parents were both fairly mundane people, they both worked standard 9 to 5 jobs in the city while Del went to school and stayed at home with his grandmother. Delβs grandmother was a very kind old woman who had a lot to teach Del about the world- and about his star marking. His grandmother was a conspiracy theorist to some degree, not because she actually believed in such things, but because she didnβt have much to do since her husband died. Once she saw Del had the star marking, a little light went on in her head as she made the connections, and she immediately went to researching all she could.
As soon as his grandmother discovered his markings, Delβs after school life became less and less about relaxation, and more and more about finding the limits of just what his ability was and its limits. He trained hard at it from the age of seven, all through until he was fourteen, at which point his grandmother passed away. It was then Del decided to reveal his fantastic abilities to his parents, only for them to shun him. They thought that, somehow, whatever magical thing causing Delβs ability had caused his grandmothers death. Distraught, Del packed a bag of meager supplies, money, grabbed his skateboard, and left home. Heβs been living on the street for about two years now. Life has been hard- Heβs been mugged, moneys gotten tight, and some nights he had trouble meeting the needs of his extreme diet. But heβs pulled through.

Of course, her powers could still take effect from all the way over in New York, but the fact that she'd be surrounded by people who could help her get a grasp on her powers was kind of reassuring. Her parents respected her decision.
She spent the next few years with the organization before "graduating" to a staff role. She was glad to accept a position as a teacher, since it provided her with the opportunity to use her power to help others. Nowadays she teaches math at the headquarters to the Uncorrupted. Her late entrance into the organization meant that she had a chance to have a solid education beforehand, since she wasn't subjected to the erratic always-interrupted-by-missions schedule that students follow here. She still lives at HQ, since that's all she really knows of New York, and it makes it easier anyway with the weird schedule. It also makes it easier for her to answer questions and help out those who need a little more explaining. The main challenge she encounters in her job is that she can give her students explanations and formulas, but she can't make them get it. And she certainly can't read their minds to figure out what part they don't understand.

Theoretically, not even decapitation would even kill her, but the head that would regenerate afterwards would lack memories and be in a vegetable state. However, this power has locked her body at 7 years old of age, and will never grow beyond that. Wounds also take time proportional to the injury to heal. Angie can also transfer some of her regenerative power to others via a blood transfusion or a distilled serum made with her blood for on site first aid.

During her training, Angie expressed a keen interest in medicine and biotechnology, perhaps as an obsession born from the fact her body didn't seem to age past seven. Having such an useful power, Angie was marked to become corrupted. After her ordeal, she became catatonic, even though her regeneration seemed to skyrocket. She spent half a year in this state, until some day, she woke up... and found out the regeneration factor had reverted her body to an state prior to the corruption. After some confusion and hesitation, she was allowed to resume her activities as staff member... not without great pressure on not even attempting to ever reveal the details surrounding Corrupted stars.

The Organization started capturing and torturing those with stars to make them corrupted, then unleashing the Ursas on them to further the ursas training. When both boys were 16, The Organization had only one more idea for them.

They carefully covered their tracks so the extremely intelligent Bear could never realize it was them. They depraved Ursa of his humanity and broke his spirit, until his star turned black. Biography: Ellie is the second-youngest of thirteen children, and one of only two girls. She was born into an extremely religious family who thought that all Stars were curses. For the first two years of her life, she had a normal (albeit busy) childhood. Then, on her second birthday, two big things happened: Her star formed, and her younger sister Astraia was born, with her star already there.
Her parents were furious and horrified. They abandoned the newborn Astie and two-year-old Ellie on a street corner in New York City. Within minutes a group of Nova Infinitum agents found them, and took them back to headquarters (though there was no one in headquarters who had any idea of how to take care of a baby!)
Fast-forward four years, and then both girls were put into the "Enhancement" program. The scientists wanted Astie's brain to be at it's full potential, to benefit their cause. But Ellie, with just her vocal mimicry, was considered to have a rather "useless" power. She was expendable. So they tried an experiment on her.
Without her voice, she would have been nothing. So the scientists sedated her and removed her vocal chords, intending to observe what the effect on her would be.
Ellie was heartbroken. Without her voice, without what made her special, she was nothing. For six months she became a recluse, not even interacting with little Astie, not noticing the star on her throat turning gray and shrinking, nor the new stars forming on the rest of her.
Six months after Ellie's procedure, Astie forced her to interact, literally dragging her sister into the training room. "I don't care if you hurt me or kill me, but you're sitting on your butt feeling sorry for yourself. Wake up, Elysia, and do something. Or did you not notice that you have new Stars and have no idea what they mean?"
During that fight, Ellie broke Astie's wrist. She didn't intend to. But Astie was suddenly slow and weak, and Ellie could see just where her sister's weak points were. And then she figured out what her new stars represented: Fighting.
With a power like that, NI was bound to put her into the military training program. Teach her to fight and kill and inflict horrible suffering. She refused to do that. So she led them on, let them think her new power was "pretty handwriting" or something, while she planned her escape.
It took another six months for her plan to be set up to a standard of satisfaction. She stole weapons from the training room, knives and pistols and ammo. She begged the barely-five-year-old Astie to come with her, but she was too late: Astie's Procedure had started two weeks previously and she was delirious with pain. Astie didn't even remember who Ellie was.
With a broken heart, Ellie fled, shooting several dozen guards and killing them all, even though she'd never touched a pistol before that night. With no transportation, her only option was walking. So she walked, and stole food and clothing and walking shoes, until two months later she was found by a Cygnus-X team just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. She was offered safety and sanctuary.

Personality: Not as Angsty as you would think Somewhat quiet and distint, but determined. He just wants to help people, stars and espically the corrupt stars, and throws himself into his work.
Biography: Castor was born into a loving home with his twin brother Pollux. When they were around 11, Pollux's star appeared along with his powers, which was manipulating electronics, and the organization came shortly after. They convinced their parents to take Pollux away from the house. Castor stayed in touch secretly with his brother for the next two years. Near the end of those two years, Pollux told Castor that they were going to give him special training and after that Castor didn't hear much from his brother for a bit, and then got short messages to him...but they weren't exactly messages. "It hurts! stop it!" and several other messages like that would be in the email that castor received and as they went on the messages would get more and more scrambled. He kept his star hidden and ran away from home to make sure his parents didn't send him to Nova as well. Eventually, his powers got him noticed and in contact with Cygnus X-1 and he joined. He's one of the main hackers of the group.

He quickly proved far too intelligent for it, and has skipped into the fourth grade by the time he was five. He skipped several grades over his educational career, finishing high school at thirteen. Unbeknownst to virtually everyone, this wasnβt because of an inherent intelligence- it was due to his Star. His power let him attian all the knowledge heβd need to pass any sort of test thrown at him. After graduating, most colleges refused to accept a boy who was only thirteen, and in these years waiting to become of age for college, he began thinking about what sort of career heβd enjoy. At number one on his list was a career in the British Intelligence Agency, MI6. For example, she can change the size of an object, but not its mass, so she might end up making something much lighter or much heavier than it looks. She can edit materials, making a wooden door look like it's made of steel, but it might still be combustible like wood, or it might just have a thin steel coating with wood underneath. It would also only weigh as much as a wooden door.

There's no actual object for her to manipulate, so she'd basically just be changing how the character looks on-screen. For a full 3D model to look right, she'd have to edit the character at different angles of view as they appear on-screen, with the edits from the different angles seamlessly matching up so the textures don't look like they're jumping around. I think the edits would stick to the character, though, so if she got it all working from all the angles, the character would keep looking like that as long as she wanted it to.

Appearance: She's a small girl, reaching about 4'8", and is pretty stout as well. She has long, wavy, dark brown hair and equally brown eyes. She has a tan complexion, mostly from genetics, partially from the Florida sun, where she has lived most of her life. Her face is rounded and often decorated with a cocky smirk. Her outfits mainly consist of pinks, whites, and browns, since those are her favorite colors.
Location and notes on star mark: Her star is located on her stomach, about three inches across. Her star has eight points, meant to resemble a compass. The four points pointing up, down, left, and right are slightly bigger, while the points in between those are a little smaller. Her star is placed on her stomach because her power is sort of like a gut feeling.
Star power: Her power is the ability to find out where the answer lies. Her ability is fairly limited, since her power doesn't tell her how to find the answer, and the location gets more general the farther away she is.

Personality: Estrella is a lot of things, but overall she's a kid looking to have fun. Her most noticeable traits are her surprisingly passionate nature and her tendency towards trickary. She enjoy pranks and jokes, as well as teasing people. In fact, she tends to push it more than she should, which gives her reputation for being kind of a jerk around the school. She can be a rather sweet kid, but she often ends up being mean to someone before she's nice to someone, leaving her to feel misjudged and bitter towards the other kids. She does have a group of friends, but they tend to get very dramatic about her behaviors. Usually that's over in a week or so and they all stay good friends.
Biography: Three years ago, Estrella and her adoptive sisters Sarah, Vicky, and Lily were adopted by their mothers, Rose and Samantha (in their words, they had a hard time making a decision). They all became a big, happy family, and they lived out their lives normally. However, a year later, Rose left without a word to anybody. They all eventually carried on, but it left a noticeable mark on everyone. Otherwise, Estrella is a happy girl about to enter middle school and having fun with sports and clubs. About three or four months ago, she was swimming with some friends when her mother, who was supervising the gathering, noticed her star. She told her to hide it, since she has heard rumors about what happened to those with stars and wasn't sure what people might think. Estrella did, but since she realized what her power was she's been practicing it regularly, seeing if she could train it to try and expand her abilities, but she hasn't hasnt been practicing long and doesn't know if the training is actually working.
