Lasers and Losers
Quick Backstory
Sector Serena, a region of space consisting of 12 different solar systems, is a rather prosperous and wealthy sector on the fringe of colonized space. These systems are mostly independent from lager empires, and most coexist peacefully with one another. This sector's wealth comes from rich resource deposits being mined in several systems and traded amongst the others. As a fringe sector, life has been peaceful for the inhabitants of Sector Serena. Secluded from warring powers and corrupt influences, the sector has experienced little in the way of conflict. This could lead a wealthy sector to a poor future..
The peace in Sector Serena may soon come to an end. Word of these resource deposits has spread beyond the borders of Sector Serena, and to the ears of more powerful groups. The cunning tacticians and merciless mercenaries of the S9 Republic, who wish to see their gray banners over every governmental building have begun to mobilize their fleets towards the region. The cold-blooded reptiles of the Parzonian Empire train their vicious soldiers for conquest. Lastly, the criminal organization known as the Underground Network is set on claiming a new system as its prize and place of illegal activity. Beware however, not all problems may come from outside the sector..
Who are we in this dilemma?
War brings quite a bit of profit for some, and problems for many others. You're a gun for hire, or a specialist of some sort, a part of a small mercenary crew, here to make your pay in anyway you can with your ragtag group. The group was brought together by a rather opportunistic pilot, who could see the fortune to be earned in Sector Serena the moment he heard of its problems. He spent quite a bit of time looking through different dossiers to find a suitable crew that could survive in a region like this. He picked you.
Consider yourself appropriate for the job, simply lucky, or perhaps just space's biggest loser. Welcome to Sector Serena.

Background Info: Sector Serena + planets
The Sector consist of 12 different solar systems, each with their own habitable planets and space stations. (Map coming soon) The sector makes its profit from the harvesting and distributing of rare resources from its many rich deposits found throughout the area. Most local governments in this region have small fleets and small militias mainly to keep the peace, but the invaders are much more well armed and prepared to take hostile action. Some planets are heavily populated and its cities more advanced than others. As the conflict rises in the region these areas may become more hotly contested, and some areas may be cut off for a short while due to heavy conflict or blockades. However one can always attempt to run a blockade if they have reason to be on a certain planet during a war, just be prepared for problems.
Tabs for individual planets will appear once we set course for them, bringing new information. After all, we are just outsiders with very little intel on Sector Serena.

Due to the atmosphere on the planet, this city has a reputation for experiencing frequent rain storms and showers. Most homes are scrap metal shacks probably held together by duck tape and glue. Its apparent that anyone with money and the ability has already left the planet for greener pastures, since most of the city's population look either ill, hungry, or just down on their luck. Despite this, there is still a small middle class to be found, living near the planets only main significant feature. The Starport. Underneath the star port is what the city was named after, Hisho's Market. Merchandise, food, weapons and armor all flow through the market at some point or another. Whether its quality gear or not is up to someone with a keen eye to decide. Muggers and street gangs are not uncommon on this world due to its neglectful state, so caution is advised when making your way through the streets.
Factions
"We all have wants and desires. The only difference though is that Sector 9 can make them happen."~S9R Propaganda
It is rumored that S9 used to be a rather large private military force that would turn on the ones they were paid to protect in a sort of military coup. I guess they got too big for their backstabbing pants to keep this one up, and officialy came out in full force from somewhere within the Sector 9 Region of space. Now we have the S.9.R. (Sector 9 Republic) who mean business when it comes to their conquest for power, money, and resources. Soldiers are pretty typical all things considered, basic armor for protection against ballistics, and ballistic weaponry. For ballistic guns though they have some advanced rifles and specialized gear. Little is known about their special forces, and to be frank we probably don't want to know. What is known however are the generals in the S9R. They call them Governors, and these governors tend to have a fleet at their command with a well stocked army, and a handful of conquered systems that they rule too. Governors go to a sort of council of the sorts where they discuss the Republic's issues or property disputes for planets. There will no doubt be quite a bit of talks about Sector Serena from them as well..
"Yisssss..."~Successful Parzon Merchant after making a good deal.
Who would have thought that some midget lizards from a jungle could start an empire? From what I've been able to read, it seems as if first there were the Parzons who discovered interstellar travel. They then went to other planets and annexed a world of another reptile race called the Trozinkins. Now i'll crack jokes about Parzons, but not these guys. Pissing off a Trozinkin is something anyone with common sense would want to avoid doing. The Parzons use Trozinkins as foot soldiers for wars or military security jobs. Defectors/ Independents from the empire aren't uncommon, but all defectors are to be killed if captured in battle or handed over to the Parzonian Government to be executed for treason. As far as i'm aware they are here in Serena for the resources and to expand their territory. Serena being inhabited by humans, it makes me wonder what they'll do with the people if they conquer the sector..
"The galaxy may call me a mass murderer, psychopath, well dressed, and a crazed swordsman for a few personal decisions I've made, but I like to think of myself in a more positive image. I am in it's simplest terms, an artist. Well.. an artist with a love for putting on a show!"~Smirnov, Ung. Net Assassin
Black Markets, prostitution, illegal death matches, gambling games, piracy, drug trafficking, illegal downloads.. Basically anything your parents told you to stay out of. Ung. Net as they call themselves for short has a nasty habit of breaking the law whenever they want to or see a potential profit in doing so. I don't expect to see these guys too often on the battlefield, but don't be surprised when they do show up. They may like to keep their operations on the lowdown, but every group of thugs has its muscles. There isn't a true position of leadership within their ranks, but in-fighting is oddly enough a rare occurrence for them. Power is earned through a couple of things, but mainly wealth and influence. Probably a bit of charisma too.
Races
Standard and average. Primarily the dominating force of the galaxy. Also it has been shown that the human brain is very sensitive and capable of possessing psionic potentials. Despite being capable of, this is still very rare within the species.
Small reptiles, usually ranging from 3-4 feet tall are well known for their agility and nasty bites. Their colorful scales are a warning for their venomous bites, but also possess the ability to camouflage with their backgrounds much like a chameleon. Their homeworld, a dense jungle has an atmosphere filled with harmful spores. Having evolved on this world they are well adapted to these spores, and will frequently use the spores in gas grenades.
Big, strong, and made to kill. Ranging from 7-9 feet tall, they have rough, spiky scales which tend not to be as colorful as their overlords. A Trozy can bite through some of the galaxy's toughest armor, power armor, in one chomp as if it were nothing to them. To top that off they have blood sacs under their eyes which can boil the blood and spew it from underneath their eyes with quite a bit of force. This is said to be a trait from one of their earlier phases of evolution that simply stuck with them as time progressed. Despite their strength, they are a bit clumsy and not the most dexterous of beings.
Usually service droids made to do simple security jobs or to assist their human masters in a specialized task. Military droids are not uncommon however and S9 has an inventory of sleek, deadly droids that they may use to fill in spaces for a squad
(I may allow other custom/original alien races if you pm me the idea/ concept)
Rules
1. No god modding, you can bleed like everything else.
2. Be respectful to eachother (OOC Wise. Space is full of assholes anyway c;)
3. Romance is allowed, but if you insist on being naughty you can take it the PMs.
4. I'm not too picky of a person, but keep posts about 1-2 paragraphs at least. More is allowed and welcomed, just don't over do it.
5. Your characters will earn credits to buy new things in the rp. I'll keep track of money, so don't try to be sly and spend what you don't have.
Simple stuff and common sense mostly is all i'm asking. Other than that have fun.
There is also a Chatzy group for general chatroom and OOC discussion for the rp, or just for plain old simple talking if you're into that sort of thing. ( http://www.chatzy.com/21774370341677 )

Background:Winston Valos, an accomplished pilot from the S9R Pilot's academy. Able to handle most space crafts as if it were a second skin to him, he excelled as a drop ship pilot for Sector 9 mercenaries, which he served alongside for a good four years. It wasn't until he had an argument with his CO over a few poor choices that were made during one operation. Shortly after he resigned from S9's services to become an independent pilot and take hauling/ transportation jobs from contractors. The the pay was decent, but not enough to please the man, and he missed the action and heat of being a combat pilot. Upon hearing word of the situation in Sector Serena, he decided this would be his chance to get back in the game. Scrapping together what sum of credits he had, he hired himself a crew of mercenaries to earn him some money in Sector Serena.
