The Ebonfort Region/Ebon Knights are very "grey" as you put it. Strength/survival of the smartest/fittest is first and foremost. It's how they've survived when everyone else fell during the Death of Magic. They do whatever is necessary to ensure survival.

NPCs, there are thousands and thousands in Ebonfort. Player Characters, that are in the region are numbered at about.. 10 I think?

And all of them are Pro-Ebonfort?

Actually, let's talk on Skype, if we can.

I can think of one or two that are indifferent at best or anti-Ebonfort.

Well, I want to play as someone who wants to overthrow the Empire of Ebonfort, but I'm afraid that it might, well, take a large amount of IRL time and work, as Ebonfort is an established setting element with some sympathetic traits.

Despite that, is there nothing preventing me from playing as such, though?

No, of course not. Your character can be as ambitious as you want. There's no guaruntee of success but I'm sure there will be some characters sympathetic to that goal (namely, the kvaren in general).

Who are the Kvaren? Also, what's Vircastoria like?

My character's intended to be a merchant/scientist who's good with pistols and other types of gun, and who wants to introduce stuff like Four-Field Crop Rotation, Potatoes, and Maize (albeit with Nixtamilization to prevent Pellagra) to the regions around Ebonfort in order to improve their productivity, so as to stand against Ebonfort better...

Huh, Ebonfort seems different to the other kinds of RP Universes out there. So this is basically a hub world for people to create Rps around Ebonfort itself, with your guys permission of course I guess? Mostly the ones who created this topic.

I have to say you have an easier time than I, I am only one person trying to keep track of a massive multiverse.

@Landaus Five-One, Yeah, the player character I plan to create for this universe; basic ideas are up above; I haven't made a CS yet, as I want to talk things out with the Omni-GM.

I think you should take a look at the wiki as you seem to have a poor idea of the level of technology present in this setting. Guns are not a thing. Also, agriculture is already a thing.

Agriculture may be already a thing, but I'm talking about fairly recent agricultural advancements.

And, all right.

@Letter Bee Hmm, I guess? Even though I have 394 Characters to choose from my The Jaina'Res Multiverse + The Main Realm. However, it will probably take awhile to do that...

@Drache So what's this role play universe like? In terms of certain things.

Please clarify what certain things you're interested in knowing about so I can best narrow the scope of my reply.

@Drache The three primary things I want to know are somewhat difficult to explain though I could make it less of a chore to decipher it. Since I am very curious how other people do things compared to me, since I have a vast Multiverse to control all by myself.

1. What caused the disaster, which caused Ebonfort to become a Post-Apocalyptic universe?
2. What is the total number of population? In Ebonfort, and this primarily concerns the entire planet or planets.
3. What are the nations, which uphold order on the world?

Those are the three I am more curious about. Even though I probably have more questions later since writing so much stuff for 20 profiles is a drain on my heart, much of it anyway. And all twenty of these profiles belong in my Unified Multiverse, which includes the Main Realm and the Jaina'Res Multiverse.

Alright, sorry for the delay, I wanted to get home to my computer to type this rather than use my phone because that would have been a huge pain in the ass.

1a. The cause of the disaster that robbed the world of magic for 200 years 300 years (sorry, typo) is currently being discovered by several characters in an on-going quest which you can read about here and here. It essentially involves the attempt of a few mortals to stop a power-mad God from taking over the world and the consequences of their actions.
1b. I am concerned that you may have the wrong idea about how post-apocalyptic this world is. Tessanis (the name of the planet) has never reached a level of technology that we would consider modern. This is a medieval setting. The set-back occurred because magic was stripped from most of the world, and magic is what many cultures relied on in lieu of technology. A scramble for resources caused certain cultures to thrive (Ebonfort) while others perished (Vircastoria) and even more were created in the aftermath (the Kvaren and Pyresia).

2a. I am not sure about the total population in numbers of the entire planet. @Twhirtley will have to weigh in on this one but you can except populations of cities to be similar to real world medieval numbers.
2b. Right now the only "planet" known per se is Tessanis. There are other "realms" such as the Feywild, Aether, and Abyss that are accessed through magic rather than any sort of space travel. This is more akin to Planar travel in D&D lore.

3. For plot reasons, not all of the cultures or cities of the world have been discovered, but what your character will likely know is that Ebonfort is currently the strongest kingdom around, primarily due to its non-reliance on magic. Frigmount to the north is also strong, but was mysteriously cut off from the rest of the world (the cause being discovered in the quest and RP threads I linked above). There are now rumours of cities in the desert to the south and the west (Pyresia, dragon city, pretty awesome). There is the potential for us to unveil more at any time.

This universe is completely separate from any other so we're not having anyone ported over through space jumps and things like that.

Edit: In addition, since it was touched on earlier, the way we RP here is a bit more sandbox style than others. We don't just have one massive thread that progresses chronologically through time. You are free to start new threads to RP certain events in any place that you like. If it's something that requires GM guidance, we're here to do that. There are also always quests going to explore/discover/fight baddies, etc. These RP threads can be set in any point in time (within reason). To get a better idea of what I'm talking about, check out the character sheets and see how people's RPs are listed at the bottoms.

A magical disaster, hmm. A god went mad, which usually happens in fantasy settings in general. That is a lot of serious problems, which everyone still has to live through since magic no longer exists. On Tessanis that is.

Hmm, I like rumors. Pyresia is a nice name. =P
