Tribal Warfare - interest check

I was thinking about how every nation RP tends to be on a grand scale, with armies in the hundreds of thousands or millions and borders that span continents. I was wondering if there'd be interest for a smaller, more intimate setting - we'd play as individual tribes, all living in the same area. Each tribe would only have a few hundred people living in them, if that. The point would mainly be to foil your typical nation RP and see what unique plotlines and developments we could come up with in such a setting. The themes of the RP would be that you aren't competing for land, as tribes don't really claim land. You're competing for your people, for your own survival. You're watching out for literally every member of your tribe, most of whom you know by name, and trying to find a balance among the other tribes. You'd be what other roleplays would label as 'barbarians' - so as you quarreled amongst yourselves, you might have to contend with larger, more advanced nations near your borders.

If you're interested in such an idea, let me know and I'll expand upon it to set up a proper OOC. Also, give me your input on what you'd like the setting to be - I was thinking low fantasy, with witch doctors, shamans and monsters being a part of the world. But we could go for a pseudo-Earth if that's what you'd prefer. Or we could go high fantasy, and have a tribe of dragon riding orcs. Or maybe sci-fi colonialism, with small groups of settlers on an alien planet. The choices are endless.

Also note: the tags "casual" and "fantasy" are subject to change as the idea develops.

I would think a high fantasy with low fantasy elements would be interesting. By High Fantasy I mean using African Mythical races instead of European if you are going for African like tribes or Native American Mythical races if you are going for Native American tribes, but it would still have low fantasy elements like Witch Doctors.
Edit: Here is an idea, you could allow Native American and African like tribes to exist at the same time in the same area, so we can have a more diverse world culture and race wise.

Hmm... color me interested. Would all of the tribes have to have a similar culture or can one tribe be African based and another Russian based and another Arabic based?

I'd agree with MetalLover that you can base your tribe on any in history. I'll try and reflect the world based on what you choose. Lots of Native based tribes, and I'll base the world on Native mythology. Same for African, Russian, European, etc.

Just so I have a rough idea, when you say "we're what other nations would label us a barbarians/primitives", what do you mean exactly? Like would it be the early colonization of the Americas/Africa or like we're literally barbarian tribes in a pseudo-Europe?

I think that it will depend on what wins the poll. Though i personally would go with tribes in a pseudo-Europe. At least in that case the tech difference isn't that great.

When you mean early, does it mean that the people literally have just gotten off their boats or something along those lines or have they began to set up shop with small settlements and stuff?

Closer to "just got off the boat" but that might develop in the RP, but note the more advanced nations won't necessarily act like historical colonists re:genocide.
