At the risk of making yet another Xmen RP (and I'm already in one of them), I'm thinking of relaunching a variation of an old RP I started.
In a parallel world, things are much different. Charles Xavier isn't the hero, as in the more familiar worlds. Instead, he is, what many dub, the new Hitler. Believing that mutants are the superior race, he has created an army of mutants he calls the Xmen. Those humans which won't cooperate are rounded up and killed, unless they can offer the Xmen something worth their lives. Those that do make such an offer find themselves in a personal meeting with Xavier or his Lieutenant Jean Grey, codenamed "Phoenix" for her pyrokinetic and flight abilities. There their loyalty is forever insured through the use of telepathy. Mutants which resist are given a similar treatment, and if they won't turn willingly receive a similar visit to insure their conversion.
The US government, with the help of empowered people and the government agency known as SHIELD, fight a seemingly endless war against Xavier, and have been doing so for decades. Xavier has captured much of the Northeastern US, and is now stationing troops on the northern border of Maryland. Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, leads a Brotherhood of Mutants to fight him, on behalf of the US military, because he believes that humans and mutants can live in peace. It isn't enough.
To deal with the more serious threats, Nick Fury, director of SHIELD, has created a special squadron, lead by a mutant named Switch, who has the ability to amplify or suppress the mutant X gene. They deal with the threats that no other group can be expected to deal with, but, unlike the Avengers, they prefer covert ops to the flashy tactics of Stark's group.
