People generally responded poorly to the ending of 'The Road,' because it was uncharacteristically not-pitch-black-and-totally-fucking-depressing. It was still pretty dark and depressing, but this is McCarthy, so the rules are different. I still loved the movie, in fact.... I think I know what I'm doing tonight.
