[OOC] The Gifted: A Fast Paced Superpower RP (Relaunch)

I need to finish their backstory but I just wanted to throw that up there so I'm ready to roll! It should be cool enough playing a support/healer but let's roll with it. Also, Alex should have some interesting interactions with others, especially with his blood and blades!

Also also, Max Velocity was SS because he could alter forces acting upon his body. He could fly at those speeds because he could simply negate gravity and air resistance and apply a large force behind himself. Or something like that. He was an NPC for one post...didn't think much into it!

I'm refining my villain concept at the moment - and don't worry about the villain/hero imbalance, because of his nature as an anti-meta crusader, he's probably going to be in conflict with the other villains more often than not.

Still don't know about powers, though. While the notion that he steals other meta's powers was interesting, I think I definitely want his motivaton to be ideological (and insane) rather than coming from power-hungriness. I've got some thoughts for how I want him to feel, though - very much a movie-monster, implacable predator, 'hunt you down, scare the bejeezus out of you, kill you and move on to the next one' sort of thing. He's also have to be strong enough to really take on other metas, though. I was thinking some kind of shapeshifting to do with fear - maybe he feeds on fear, growing stronger and taller or reshaping his body into something suitably monstrous?

Ideas, good friends?

ooooh sounds cool so far. so kinda like a boggart idea? that sounds interesting, but it means you're gonna have to be mostly reactive and waiting for other people to tell you what to turn into all the time, unless i'm totally misinterpreting this. i'm probably misinterpreting this. oh wait so instead of boggart would it be just growing in general via fear rather than turning into the object of fear? that would be easier for you to work with probably. also would his transformation be permanent each time, or would there be some sort of reset button/cool down period for him to revert to normal person size/shape (which i personally think would be the better call)? also he'd need some way to initiate the fear. i mean, if you have people like aya who are easier to scare and have more support oriented powers, then sure it'll be pretty easy to overpower them and take advantage of their fear, but people like sebastian or edge? good luck. i guess the thing to do would be to 'level grind' on the weaker characters first before going for the boss battles. idk, i might be completely off the mark with all this. that's always a very real option. i'm really digging the horror movie vibe so far, though.

The Monster

Name: Charles Metzger

Description: In his standard form, he is a tall, pale man with brown eyes and crew-cut black hair. His face is smooth, unmarked, and 100% expressionless - his eyes stare straight ahead coolly, his mouth set in a hard line. He's pretty much never seen without some kind of business suit on, which are pretty much always in perfect condition or spattered with blood and shredded to high hell, depending on wha he was doing a few minutes ago.

When his powers are active, he can look like... pretty much anything, though he's incapable of simulating clothing or mimicking other people.

Powers: Fear-powered shapeshifting. When Charles causes someone to feel anxious, paranoid, nervous, or afraid, he gains energy to fuel his transformations, being able to reshape his body in just about any way he sees fit, from growing claws and sharp teeth and wings to adding feet to his height or thickening his hide to withstand punishment. The more fear, the more drastic his transformations can become - he makes someone a litte nervous, he can maybe grow and inch or two. He makes a few people absolutely terrified, he can become an almost inhuman monster. There's no upper limit on this power, though the amount of fear required would make becoming S-level only theoretically possible. When he runs out of fear (which can happen if the person he was drawing from calms down or dies) he starts to revert back to human form.

Skills: Charles speaks several languages fluently (German, French, English), is a talented investigator and practiced hunter - stalking, breaking and entering, sneaking around, and associated skills are old hat to him.
Equipment: A massive inherited bank account, a wardrobe of fine clothing, a Rolls Royce, and absolute moral insanity.
Ranking: Averages at Upper B Rank, though it's hypothetically possible for him to go much higher.

Biography: For now, it's enough to know that he obsessively hunts other metas. Further backstory may be revealed as he is developed.

@Weird Tales merc characters are wildcards by nature, so you can drop then anywhere the plot's going on and do whatever makes sense for the character. whether they eventually choose to side with one group or the other is entirely up to you.

also just want to let everyone know that progress is being made right now and we're sorry for the wait! the timeskip posts should be up soon, and then the plot will be in full gear, with a few different scenarios to pick and choose from for where you want to throw your characters.
