Closed to Allied Nations.

Looking for Axis players!

The date is December 8th, 1941. With the entry of the United States, World War II is in full swing.

Which is when an alien society of omnipotent space bats in the far future screw with dimensions in the multiverse, and pull in some guests.

Play as either a real-life leader of a real-life country; a strange alternate dimension country that could have been; or a single ship, battalion, or air wing, stranded from its home timeline. No magic, and keep tech at a near-WWII equivalent. Pull from books! Pull from timelines on alternate history forums! Go a little crazy! Be very sane!

In more detail, the timeline proceeds as ours does up to December 8th, 1941. On that date, countries, ships, fighter wings, or battalions find themselves suddenly "cut" from their timeline and "pasted" into our timeline. They get "pasted" in the same place in our timeline that they were "cut" from in their timeilne. So if your nation is an alternate take on Spain where Napoleon never invaded, your Spain replaces our Spain. Even if that means part of France suddenly disappears.

Any nations that would be carved out of another, already established, player's territory should be cleared by said other player.

Combat is decided through rational roleplay. "Rational", as in, no single tank will destroy an entire army.

Any nations not claimed by someone are NPC's (...NPN's?), and their actions are controlled by everyone - if you need the NPC to react, put it in your post, and then it's canon.

yay! OOC!

Reserving my spot from the check but I'm not playing as Imperial Japan itself. Its like Japan but is located out in the middle of the Pacific and is neutral at the start since it feels most connect culturally to Japan but its leaders have ideologies favoring the allies.

Can I reserve the British Empire please? Perhaps minus dominions, to allow for more RPers.

USA right here!

Edit, I've seen people desire a pacific based nation so I must stress that I am keeping Hawaii as a state seeing as the attack on it is the only reason the USA entered the war.

Aside from that, I'm really excited to see where people take the nations they pick.

I'm hoping I can use my submarine and capture Malta, or a small Greek island, so I can slowly assimilate them and build more subs and become the pirate king.

@Queen RaidneSince the "alternate" nations literally pop into existence here I repeat my question in the OOC.
Can I use a sorts of fantasy nation in this RP?
There's no magic, though a few things to consider.
- Roughly 30% of the population are elves and they're the ruling class. think of humans that originated from birds...well, sorta. I have most of their biology detailed which I can give you later.

- Mithril is the common metal of the empire instead of steel. Mithril is kinda like a better Aluminium and its effectively more like a family of various alloys and compounds. Mithril is light (it's sorta aluminium) but strength-wise the best Mithril alloys are about 20% inferior compared to the best steel alloys in WW2.

- Alchemy still exist and it's institutionalized in Yllendthyr. It's basically chemistry and material sciences but combined with strange ritual-like elements of which 90% of them have no purpose. Alchemists were lucky at discovering certain unique methods (like the creation of Mithril, think of how Damascus Steel was made, for example) but they can't be sure which of their countless rituals are necessary steps and which are merely adding up time. Alchemy works more and more only in conjunction with modern sciences but it still make Yllendthyr's industry kinda strange.

- Griffins: They may have a similar relation with elves as monkeys do with humans. But if it's an issue I can either make them extinct or drop this idea altogether. Albeit Griffin Riders trying ineptly to engage WW2 fighters would be amusing.

I've updated the first post with the various claims.

By the way, I plan on playing as an American ZRCV (that's a carrier-zeppelin) on ASW escort duty in the Atlantic, based off of the alternate timeline found here. I may pick up one of the major powers (e.g. Italy) if nobody else does.

@Willy VerebI'm okay with elf-likes. Evolution followed some weird path millions of years ago - okay, that's plausible. Since I've already established precedent with Sakurite, I'm going to say a no on Mithril, unless it's just a fancy/confused name for a real-life alloy. I also find useless ritual aka alchemy hilarious and highly encourage it.* Again, going off of precedent - if alternate plausible evolutionary paths are okay, then I'll also allow griffins. ...if only for the hilarity of a BF-109 engaging Griffin riders.

*Hitler's going to have a field day with it.

Mithril is basically a variation on Titanium, so actually I was a bit wrong. Elves call it Mithralium and it may be a yet undiscovered new grid structure of this element. It isn't really that good in its pure form and alchemist alloy and compound this with various things (likely including various naturally occurring carbon nanotubes, just like the Damascus Steel). So yeah, it's a theoretically existing material which the alchemists developed (partially out of sheer luck).

Hopefully this makes them passable.

As for the elves:
I can eliminate or nerf certain parts if you want.
Basically I tried to add most of the typically attributed characteristics of elves and kind of explained them away with their weird evolution and crossbreeding incidents.

Nation Name: The Republic of South Africa

Orange is claimed but not controlled

Leader: Charl Hoedemaker
Allegiance: Axis
Government: Federal Republic
History: South Africa remains mostly the same as in our timeline, save for an earlier surge of Afrikaaner nationalism, leading to a rapid racial divide in South Africa. Leading to tensions with the British. When WW2 broke out, South Africa saw it as time to separate, and the Union declared its independence, taking with them the whole of the old Dominon and claiming South-West Africa/Namibia, and invading the terrirory in hopes of taking it with them. At the moment, South Africa is trying to appeal to Germany to help support them gaining independance.
Culture: This South Africa is very rooted in Afrikaaner nationalism, Afrikaans is the only official language, with English even being outright banned. The divide between whites and blacks is very wide, with the two not even allowed to use the same facilitiesm. Many black south africans are fleeing to British territories looking for asylum.
Military: South Africa's military is based on, and mostly made up of remnants from, the British military. South Africa has a very strong land army and a decent air force, but a mediocre navy at best.

@Nerevarine

Well, that's South Africa gone then :)

Nvm, I'm willing to give it up.

So, I guess you'll be magically cut-and-pasted into the 'real' historical timeline. Does that mean you will have invaded Lesotho and other British Colonies other than Namibia by now?

I'm considering being Newfoundland.. An alternate one though that retained it's sovereign dominion status in the interwar period instead of giving it up to the UK.

Never mind all this.

Alrighty, this looks like a nice RP to feed my appetite for alternative history, so here goes: I would like to claim the Soviet Union.

I used the alternative nation sheet, but there are few differences between this Soviet Union and the actual other than leadership, politics and to some extent economics.

+Nation Name: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
+Leader: Leon Trotsky
+Allegiance: Communist International (Comintern)
+Government: Socialist Federal Republic
+History: After the death of Vladimir Lenin in 1924, Leon Trotsky managed to sideline Stalin and took control of the Soviet Union. His policies, re-adopting the principle of democratic centralism and invigorating discussion within the Party, lead the Soviet Union to adopt a modified version of the New Economic Policy or NEP over the following decades, which managed to avoid the famines of the 1930s but by sacrificing much faster industrial growth. Under the principle of the Permanent Revolution, the USSR has begun extensive promotion of communism around the world, especially in China where the disciples of Mao even now fight against the Kuomintang.
+Culture: The Soviet Union is very naturally rooted in Russian culture, however, under Trotsky's administration some concessions have been made, namely releasing documents in both languages in the other republics and only passively promoting assimilation of other cultures. The Soviet Union thus tries to preserve its reputation as a multinational union to its citizens and the world.
+Military: As a result of Trotsky's economic policies, the Soviet Union has a significantly higher population (to throw at the enemy with nothing but rifles) and more stable food supply, but was unprepared for the Nazi onslaught in early 1941, only possessing minimal armor and resources oriented towards war. However it began marshaling its resources and promoting war manufacturing much earlier, as early as 1937, and its T-34 tanks are much more effective than rival German tanks, though they tend to be overwhelmed with sheer numbers. Also, however, due to the lack of the Purge, the USSR possesses much more skilled officers (if unprepared for the realities of modern war) which to some degree counteracts its lack of industrialization. Now, the Soviet Union is adopting its age-old tactic: scorch the earth and retreat while taking as many casualties as you can.

@Iluvatar I see that you have Newfoundland as one of your territories, I was wondering if you'd give it up as I'm writing an NS for it, it may also involve giving up New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and prince Edward Island.

Wow, that was a lot of applications in a short time. Neat! I like interest! <3
...still looking for a Co-GM, here...

I'm working on updating the World Map to reflect the accepted nations. It'll be a little bit, mostly because I'm indecisive and can't decide on distinct colors for everyone.

@Iluvatar "Military" is meant as a description of your military advantages and disadvantages, so we have a feel for your military. For example, you could say that the United States' chief advantage was means of production. The Sherman was rarely the best tank on the field, but there were always more Shermans ready to replace the broken ones. And while their Navy had very few battleships due to Pearl Harbor, they still had some carriers (which was nice, since carriers essentially replaced battleships as a fleet's capital ship).

This is so both you and the other players have a reasonable guess on who would win a particular engagement.

Looks good otherwise. I honestly prefer more flavor text, but, A) how much flavor text can you add for a real life nation?, and B) I didn't ask for any.

@Willy Vereb ...you gave me its actual material properties? <3 <3 <3 *breaks out her materials science book*
Anyway, yes. They're in. You've put thought into them; they aren't game-breaking; they have disadvantages and advantages; yes. Just yes.

@Nerevarine Accepted!

@Deaddlife Looks good; Accepted!

@Voltus_Ventus You should talk to @Iluvatar, since Newfoundland is one of the areas (he?) wanted to keep.Edit: You are on top of it, I see.

@Mihndar Ooh, USSR without psycho-purges. I like it. Accepted!

If you're waiting on me for something and I don't have you on that list, then I accidentally missed you, and don't know about it. You should correct that by telling me.

†That's the first smiley I've ever used on this site.
