Ryuu entered the cafeteria, pulling his luggage. He had signed up for his classes that morning, including the class titled "Accept Yourself". Now it was lunch time, and despite still having a bit of jet lag from his over-seas flight yesterday, he was more concerned with his hunger than his fatigue. Getting used to American food would take some time, but when he saw the assortment of foods that the food line had, he knew he wouldn't have to do so today. Because of the large number of foreign students, the cafeteria workers had prepared an international menu, including sushimi and rice. That, including some type of Asian noodles, formed his lunch.

After running his meal card, he sat down at an empty table and pulled out his tablet, logging onto the school's website and downloading his course syllabi. Maybe if he read his syllabi instead of engaging the others in conversation he would be prepared for class before having to meet the others at his dorm.

Having locked herself in the handicap bathroom, Valaeli worked on making sure her scarf covered most of her neck. While she had applied makeup on them, they were starting to get bigger as time passed. She had started to assume that as she 'aged', her scales would spread and get larger. Maybe when she was finally covered fully in scales, she'd pass away. That gave her a bit of hope, as living forever in a world full of people who died, terrified her.
She fluffed her hair and made sure the horn stumps were covered by the golden strands. She was going to have to file them down soon. Satisfied with her appearance, the young woman grabbed her bag and headed out, making sure no one saw her leave that particular bathroom. Her cheeks flushed with guilt, having used the handicap one without even being handicap.

Pulling free a map from her bag, she looked it over before heading to the cafeteria. She had neglected breakfast in her panic and stress and keeping herself as normal as possible. Heck, she had even taken a class called "Accept Yourself" in the hopes that it would give her a little boost of confidence each day. She didn't have the confidence to walk around without covering 90% of her body in layers of clothing. Gloves, scarves, jackets, thick stockings, anything to cover the silver scales spread across her skin.

Mendy sat in the cafeteria, examining her fellow students. She had gotten some sushi and was nibbling on it. Usually Mendy would have downed the whole dish in two bites but the truth of the matter was,she was nervous. When they had given her the list of classes there was one that stood out like a sore thumb. It was called "Accept yourself". When she asked one of the counselors why it was there, she was told it was necessary for someone with an application like hers. Before she could ask more they handed her a printed copy and herded her out the door. Mendy stared back at the door and sighed. Mom was probably worried about me and told them i was an orphan. She now rubbed her temples at the table, thinking how unnecessary that would be.

She pushed her paper away from the random droplets that fell from her hair. If anyone asks i'll tell them i was in a hurry and took a shower. That one usually worked. Back in high school she could just say she got something in her hair or was practicing for the next meet. As Mendy finished up her food, she blankly stared in one direction. Well at least if I take this course I should ace it pretty quickly, I have no issues with myself. She got to deal with her orphan angst a long time ago. She wasn't ashamed of it, in fact to her she was living proof her parents are good people. Mendy blushed awkwardly and pretended she needed to find something in her bag when she realized this whole tiime she was staring in the same direction as some random guy on his laptop. Hopefully he didn't notice!

Ryuu noticed that a girl with wet hair was staring at him. Great, now I need to talk to her. Still, he wasn't sure how to confront her about it. He wasn't the most social person, but he was pretty sure that just going over and asking her why she was staring at him was considered rude. Never the less, he put away his tablet and walked over to her. He sat his tray down on the table, but didn't sit down. "Hello," he said, "are you a new student too?" Hopeful that wouldn't be considered rude.
