Thanalog made a strange clicking almost insect like noise with his mouth as he thought. He was picking up surface thoughts from Moriko and Nybras and he felt their emotions as well. He pulled out a ring and handed one to each of them.
“These rings will protect your minds from being overheard. They will also allow you two to communicate telepathically but only if you both want to. There will be no eavesdropping when it comes to these rings. As for those two, they didn’t have a choice in how they were born. They were born and raised in the nine hells or one of the layers of the abyss.” He paused tapping his talon like nail against his lip.
“They were raised be those you would consider Evil but in reality good and evil are all just matter of beliefs and how one is raised. Imagine if all your life you are told that killing is bad or evil. You will eventually believe that deep in your core. Now imagine if you didn’t kill someone at least once a week and that was considered evil…” He paused as he glanced from one of them to the other.
“It is all about where you are raised and what they believe in. Well, mostly. There are rare cases where people are different no matter what. They either get some strange dark or light impulse to do something out of their natural races beliefs. These people are extremely rare but do exist. Like my father… although it took him centuries to change and it was because of a friend of his.” He continued as he looked around.
“In short we all hold darkness and light within us. The thing is will you let one overpower and control your actions?” He asked as he looked around the room, it was as if he was searching for something and then he moved over and took up two books and some quills with ink. He handed each of them one and looked at them as if they expected something more.
“What?” He asked shrugging.
“I want you two to keep journals and write everything you feel, what you think about the day and how it was spent. Also, I want you to write down what you would do to change the day. Let’s say hypothetically if you could change the past.” He informed them and with that he sat back down taking in a deep breath as if to catch his breath from a long run. Then he recalled that Nybras did ask him a few questions or was it just a statement? He pondered as he looked back at the duo.
“Magic is a simple thing to learn and something impossible to master or control. I could teach you both about magic but I was hoping that you both had “special types” of magic to teach one another. As what happened between the humans and demons… well it was more of what happened between the races of light and darkness. Again as I said before you can change how you are viewed but never how your race is viewed as a whole. No matter how long you work at it people will always shun you for your race. Unless they are people raised by my father. It is one of the reasons you are all here.” He explained as he looked at them.
“I beg that you don’t want me to tell the story now…” He paused and looked at them and noted that they were really interested. How could they not be?
“From what I gathered from my father and well, both sides. The war was over, land. People always want land and were fighting and fueling the wars. A few Gods of War were loving it and they were the first to fall to my father. Even in their strengthened states. He fought the gods of war at the same time when the war was at its peak.” He explained as he looked at them noting the sparkling lust for knowledge.
“He ended the war and made both sides sign blood contracts to keep the peace. Although, humans have such a short lifespan that they were able to void the contract within a few hundred years. The humans feared that the Demon Lords and Archdevils were plotting to erase them. They probably were at the time but couldn’t figure out a way to get past the contract. The humans started mingling magic and technology. Once this was done the contracts were all void. Although, at the time the demons didn’t know this and were attacked by magic powered handheld cannons. The humans eradicated almost every demon from the cavern… all save for an imp.” He paused to allow them to take it in.
“That imp went to the lords and arch devils revealing this had happened. With that they all got together and somehow captured my father. They used his blood as well as their own to craft a powerful spell. The spell that is still blotting out the sun.” He stopped as he took a sip of something that looked like wine. After a deep gulp he rubbed his thumb across his lip to wipe away a drop.
“My father didn’t figure out they used his blood for the spell until much later. I think they drugged him or something. Calling him in under false securities and friendship. Although, I’m not sure.” He clarified and shrugged.
“I hope this was enough for you both for now. I’m tired and probably going to bed.” He stated as he pointed to the clock. It was early in the morning, somewhere around 7AM. He moved off at a slow shamble and took his cup and bottle with him.
