EDIT: Uh, curious, about a magic/fighting style/concept.
Golem possession.
Basically, creates a golem, then possesses it, leaving the character's real body in...well...a comatose state?
Damage taken as a golem is a numbing pain, but 'death' in a golem is a searing pain, one that forces them back into their real body most likely curling up in agony.

A more gentler way would be to 'eject' out back into their body, although the character is useless by themselves.

Anything of the surroundings.
Say a lot of planks and rocks, then that becomes accumulated together into the golem.
Granted, is a more well-built city, it's much harder to do, probably requiring someone else to damaged the buildings for 'parts'

You guys seem to be referring to something other than the game I was in. I don't remember any of that, just a giant chicken that almost killed us. An uppity talking tiger. A couple giants. Then half the party becoming brain dead when we were attacked by corpses with the archer the only one doing anything useful and barely saving said brain dead folks.
