Stithis: With a yawn Marcus rolls out of bed, his feet hitting the ground with an audible thump. His sits on the edge of his bed for several minutes before he realizes why he feels like something's missing. 'I can't hear uncle's radio. . .' The middle aged man always had the radio on when working in the shop below. Unable to afford an actual PA system he simply plays a radio behind the counter so that the shoppers have something to listen to while the peruse the shelves of antiquities. Shaking his head a few times he finally recalls that his uncle had decided to have a half day today, spending the morning out appraising a few things for the local rich people in the surrounding counties.

Yawning again he rises, shuffling around his small apartment doing his normal morning dos, sparing a glance at his game corner longingly before heading back into his room to get dressed for the day. The teen takes one look at his messy appearance in the mirror and lets out a groan before shuffling over to his bathroom. He's not a morning person. Despite this however, he is a hard worker and as the water cascades over his body, washing away some of the sleep from his system, he recalls that he promised to reorganize the antique toys section since they had a rowdy child in the other day who'd done a fabulous job of scattering everything about.

“Damn kids. . .” he murmurs, letting out a long sigh before slipping out of the shower and drying off. He has nothing against them, really, but it is easy to spot the bad parents through them. Once he's actually ready for the day, his hair in some vague semblance of combed and his clothes draped lazily around his body, he makes his way downstairs to do the task. The small shop is rather dark, even after flipping on the overhead lights and with a faint cough at the ever present dust – his uncle says it gives the place some atmosphere, silly man – he sets to work. About the time he gets the last piece in place he hears the telltale creek-fwump of the mail being pushed through the door slot. Scooping it up he smiles at the sight of what's on top.

“Finally.” he murmurs, putting his uncle's mail on the counter and racing back upstairs, looking more awake now than he has all morning. He's been waiting for this for days, the game he's heard so much about, SBURB. The lights of his apartment stay off as he races over to his game corner and plops down in front of his gaming computer. The consoles scattered about the large TV to his left seem to feel left out, all perfectly polished and waiting, but he doesn't see them right now. No, he has the game he wants, and they will just have to wait their turn. Pulling out the insert he begins reading it carefully. He mumbles everything aloud, the last part making him grin widely. “Man, this sounds so cool. . . .” Pulling up his Pesterchum he sends a call out to a few of his contacts, asking if anyone's willing to play with him. Seeing as he needs both a Host for himself, and Player for him to host, he makes sure to make all the call outs open for both.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Hey chika, you got that new game yet? I need a Host, someone to help me get my gear set up in game. Or I could host you if you'd rather. Either way, we should play together!

StithisBaker: Yo, Baker Man, I got the new game today, did you? I needs me a Host, or a Player, you game? Please tell me you got it in!

StithisSkip: Dude, I know you're overseas, but you told me last week you got the game in. I FINALLY got my copy! We should totally do this man. Be my Host! Or would you rather I wreak havoc on your poor little character? *Mad cackle* Anyways, I see you're offline, but get back to me when you can!

Fire Lord: In a fit of pique James whips his school satchel across the room, the contents spilling all over the floor with a clatter as it crashes into the wall just beneath the window pouring far too much sunlight on to his dark mood. With a growl he slams the blinds closed, almost ripping the thick fabric off it's rings before he throws himself on to his bed, the torrent of tears finally breaking loose as buries his face in his pillows. Despite the sorrow and pain however, his sobs are quiet, the youth knowing better than to make this “weakness” known throughout the entire dorm. He knows what his fellows would think of such childishness, and how his teachers would find it necessary to inform his parents, and that's the last thing he wants and needs right now.

'I hate them, I hate it all, why does it have to be like this!?' Bitting his lip hard he tries to make the tears stop, but in the end he knows it's just better to let them flow until they stop naturally. Tucking his balled up fists beneath his chest he lets himself cry, trying his hardest to get the conversation that had upset him so out of his mind, even as every little word seems to lash across his heart like a fire whip. It isn't until that visual comes to his mind that he finally begins getting control of his body. 'Fire whip. . .Fire. . . Fire is mine, mine to control, mine to wield. . .I have the power here. . . .' His breath comes out as a hiss as the strength that had left his body in his sorrow returns, then grows.

Pushing himself off his bed James wipes his face clean on his pocket handkerchief and makes his way over to his desk. “I am the master here. I don't have to care here, to be such a foul lier. I can just. . .I can just burn it all down. That's what I can do. . .” Logging on to his Pesterchum he takes a few slow breaths before opening his drawer and looking over his stack of MMO disks. His boyish face is scrunched in contemplation until he spots his newest acquisition and with a devilish smile he pulls it out. “SBURB huh? Well, let us see shall we, if you live up to the hype.” Chuckling softly, the prospect of playing a new game pushing away most of the upset from before and filling him with a sense of power he pulls out the “read me” booklet insert and begins studying it, scowling slightly at the idea of anyone “hosting” him, but accepting it as a game mechanic and nothing else. With a half pout however, he decides to check out what this “Hosting” was like before allowing anyone to “Host” him. Pulling up his friends list - a rather short pathetic thing - he sends out the same call out to all of them, looking for anyone playing the game.

Fire LordSelendri: Hey, looking to Host someone playing SBURB. Send me a shout out if you need a Host.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: Hey, looking to Host someone playing SBURB. Send me a shout out if you need a Host.

Skip: With a groan Laurra glares at the source of her irritation. This just so happens to be a computer. Laptop to be exact, resting on a desk a few feet away. It's not her laptop, so her irritation is warranted, even though she could have just shut it off before laying down in the hotel bed, which is also not her own. So, it's her own damn fault, but as she pulls her gun and points it at the screen, she really doesn't care. In her half asleep state it seems perfectly reasonable to threaten the computer into silence, but as the little window on the screen continues to flash she slowly comes out of her tired state and slips off the bed, holstering her sidearm.

Plopping down like a limp rag in the rather too comfy desk chair, the dark room causing the computer screen to light up her face and hair in a rather creepy manner, she pulls up the blinking window and scowls at it, hoping that whoever disturbed her sleep will be able to feel her displeasure. It takes a few times reading the message for her to comprehend it and with a sigh she closes the window. She's about ready to go back to sleep when a faint itch in the back of her mind starts up. “A game, huh? Where you can weak havoc on other people?” She smiles faintly, her killer instincts kicking in. Going over to the only bit of luggage sitting in the room, propped up against the wall by the door, she flicks on the overhead and begins rummaging through it, hoping to find this “game”.

She's got several hours before her target will be position, so until she can bring down her real life target, she contents herself with the idea of picking on some game characters. With a grin she pulls out what looks to be what she's been searching for, tossing he hair back over he shoulders with a shake of her head as she reads the cover. “What the fuck kinda name is SBURB?” she mutters, Flipping the case this way and that before shrugging and pulling out the little booklet. With minimal effort she memorizes the instructions, a bit intrigued at the wording, then sets it aside. Setting aside the whole need to actually have other people to play with for now, she pulls out the first disk and smiles. “Looks like a good way to kill time before killing time. . . .”

BubblegumcAndi: youtube.com/watch?v=ktBMxkLUIwY

Andi’s alarm clock has a ten year old ipod sitting on top, and it is set to increase in volume until it is uncomfortable, and impossible to ignore. She has never had a particularly hard time getting up in the morning, but if she picks the right song, it hits the chorus at the perfect volume, and she can jump out of bed in an oversized t-shirt singing. This verse, near the end of the song, is the moment she is waiting for, and she throws the covers back and jumps to a standing position, singing as loud as she wants.

“Lean with it, rock with it,
When we gonna stop with it,
Lyrics that mean nothing, we were gifted with thought,
Is it time to move our feet to an introspective beat,
It ain't the speakers that bump hearts, it's our hearts that make the beat.”

The verse is repeated three times, and she sings louder each time, grabbing the brush off her nightstand and standing on her bed yelling the lines, trying to get the verse out in a single breath. The song ends abruptly, and Andi turns down the sound to a more manageable volume, and begins to pull clothing off the floor, sniffing various articles until she finds a decent combination. The next song on the playlist begins, and she absently sings to herself as she gathers her things and goes into the next room to shower. When she emerges later, she glances at the clock portion of the alarm and curses. She is running way behind—how long had she been in the shower?

Andi grabs the ipod off the dock, and shoves her earbuds into the slot as she heads towards the door. Her coat is thrown over her arm, and she slings her backpack over her shoulder as she heads down the stairs—since the damn elevator is out again. Being on the fourth floor isn’t the worst possibility, but it certainly lessens her desire to bother with makeup before she leaves her apartment. She makes it the two blocks to the bus just as it is pulling away, and the driver likes her well enough to wait for her to get on.

While she sits on the bus, Andi looks through her backpack, checking for the things she should have looked at before she let the apartment. She had all her stuff, including the mail she had gotten yesterday and hadn’t bothered to sort. Taking the time to sort it now, she makes one pile for bills that she isn’t ready to pay, and the other pile for junk mail. The one item that seems to be neither is her copy of some new game called SBURB. She read a bit on it before making the purchase, and was a bit persuaded by one of her online friends to splurge. Now that it is here though, she weighs the disk in one hand and her stack of bills in the other, doubting her purchase decision. You can probably return it, she reasons, so long as you haven’t installed it. She can at least look at the manual, for information about whether the game can be returned, of course.

She doesn’t find any information on their return policy, but the manual itself seems pretty cool. She likes when texts about a game have a defined voice. Even if that voice is in place to pester or make fun of the player, it really brings the game alive, and from them manual she gets the impression that this odd little game would be full of stuff like that. The bus begins to slow at her stop, and Andi shoves everything back in her bag and stands.

A twenty minute journey total, she gets of the bus and walks the last block to the school. The first hour is spent in class, with one of the demonstrators at the center and all of the students at sculpting tables with a head and a large amount of clay. They are working on speed sculpting—getting a form for a mask quickly without losing symmetry. The teachers came around to offer tips, but left after another hour of working with the class of twenty. The students have the rest of the day to finish their monster heads and mold them. After finishing setting up their molds, most students will be going to lunch, and then return to work on designs in Zbrush, to have a cohesive design for the paint job to present.

Once most of the students have left, Andi goes to the lab and plants herself in the corner. The computer is unofficially hers, and the other students rarely bother her for it. Since they are all getting food anyway, she doesn’t need to argue with anyone as to why she likes it so much. Andi opens up Zbrush, and starts roughly modifying her image from yesterday to what she was actually able to create today, but doesn’t get far before the disk in her bag comes to mind again.

Curious, she logs into her Pesterchum, and sees three pending messages. The first is clearly spam—some guy requesting to join her contacts--claiming to have seen her profile and wants to protect her on the big bad internet. She deletes it quickly, and moves on to the important messages, seeing that they are both about SBURB. Weird. she thinks and glances over to her bag, pulling out the game once more.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: I got it today. YAY! I was thinking about not playing…but you’ve twisted me arm :P We need to host someone and be hosted right?... Ya, you can host me. :D

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: So weird, I actually got a message from someone else about this game today too! I told him that he could host me already, but if you are still looking for someone to be your host, I could do that! Let me know either way. Hope you enjoy the game!

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Looking at the reply from the artist he's taken a liking to James lets out a huff and pops in the first disc, figuring he'd get it out of the way for now. He watches the images, the music grating on his nerves a bit, but once it's done he simply stares at the screen, waiting for someone to host to reply to him.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Marcus watches the download screen, fascinated, pulling out his phone when he hears that he has a message on Pesterchum as the download screen takes up the whole screen rather than being in a window. Glancing at the message he pumps his fist and grins.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Sweet! So, um, it says you just gotta download the first disc, then I do the second one which will me to host you. You gotta check this out, the download screen was all intense :P Let me know when you got the first disc down chika.

Chuckling he puts his phone away and waits for his friend to set up the hosting so he can get into his game. The screen fades to normal and he figures that without a host the game doesn't do much.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Up before his alarm again. Timothy started to wonder why he even set an alarm nowadays. He did his morning routine as usual and prepared himself for the day. Hygene, cleaning up, mail check, breakfast, work- “Wait a minute.” The young baker had chef coat and hat in hand as he paused and walked away from the door. He looked at a calendar in his kitchen. With a small laugh, he ended up hanging his things back up.

The bakery he ran under his apartment was closed today. Of course. He had forgotten all about being completely free for the day. He remembered being nagged by his mother about taking time to relax, but he had somehow forgotten today was that day. “Well, might as well play that game.” He mumbled to himself and walked over to his computer- after of course grabbing the bagel waiting for him. He looked at the instructions on the insert and read them carefully. There was no need to mess things up before it started. “Hmm, sounds easy enough.”

Tim searched and pulled up his Pesterchum in order to find a player to host and someone to host him- as the instructions said. Surprisingly, he already had a message.

BakerStithis: Ha, I finally decided to take time to look at the game. Yeah, I can host you. No problem!

Huh, now he needed someone to host him. Going through the contacts there, he decided to pick one of his friends at random.

BakerSkip: Hi Skip! Are you looking for a player to host? I’m in need of a host, you should be mine! If you don’t mind of course.

Maybe he should send out a few more just in case Skip already found someone to host. Well, he’d at least wait for Skip’s answer first. Waiting, Tim finished his breakfast- and grabbed another bagel while he was at it.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Sitting there tapping his foot Marcus can feel his gamer blood pumping, something about this game really putting him on a positive edge. He nearly throws himself at the computer as he sees his Pesterchum blinking and as he pulls up the reply from Baker. “Yessssss. . . .” he hisses, typing out a quick reply.

StithisBaker: Awesome dude! So, download that first disc, then pop in the second one. That should let you host me. This is gonna be killer, I can tell! That download screen was intense!

Sitting back he waits, staring at his screen with a smile, his foot once more tapping.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: With a growl Laurra is about ready to throw the laptop out the window, the “Game” seemingly broken. She goes over the instructions again in her head then with a sigh decides that she may as well try the only thing she hasn't tried yet. As she sits forward, ready to go “Host hunting”, she get another message, this one also about the game she's trying to get to work. Not feeling like having anyone picking on her quite yet she sends back a short message.

SkipBaker: M'kay, I'll host. . .Tell me when yer ready. . .

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM: After popping in the first disk, your screen goes black for a moment then - mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002037 Before fading back to your desktop.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: The blinking gets Tim’s attention almost instantly. “That was fast.” He looked at the two messages and decided to answer Stithis first.

BakerStithis: Geez you’ve already put the disc in? Ha, slow down! I’ll get the disc in soon!

BakerSkip: Oh, awesome! Thanks! It says to put the first disc in afterwards. That’s supposed to allow you to host I believe. I still have to do all that myself. -*Thumbs up*-

After he put the discs in, he watched as the screen began to flash. It had to be the downloading screen. Fortunately the downloading didn’t take too long. When it finished and showed the name “SBURB” (which he still thought was a weird name), TIm pulled his Pesterchum up once again.

BakerSkip: Alrighty, I’m ready when you are.

BakerStithis: The download screen was soo colorful. I’ve it downloaded though, so I’m ready when you are!

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “You do realize these are school computers, right Cassandra?” A voice behind Andi makes her automatically scowl, and she turns to see one of her more annoying classmates, a bitchy brunette named Autumn.

“It’s Andi. For the thirtieth time. Though I suppose your brain is just too small to grasp such a concept.” She scolds in response. Andi looks up at the woman to see her standing there…just staring, and she straightens in her chair, turning her full attention to the woman. “Is there something you actually need?”

“No.” Autumn shakes her head. “I don’t need to have my friends in a box. I have them in the –real- world.” She says, and turns on her heel.

Andi clutches the mouse so hard her knuckles turn white, and she watches the woman go off to another computer and dutifully open the Zbrush program to start her work. The message on the screen from Stithis is a welcome distraction, and Andi happily turns her focus back to the words that appear in the notification window.

Alright, so she needs to install the first disk—probably not the smartest idea on the school’s computer, but it’s the only one she has at the moment. Andi puts in the first disk, and expects to go to the computer menu to select download, but the screen goes black, and then flickers to life with a rather oddly animated spirograph-type of design. Grateful she has already put in her headphones, she listens to the music as the images changes. The words at the bottom catch her attention, but she only picks up a few of them as it loads—Chalk, Ash, Mirrors, Artifacts, Tunnels, Plum kits, Wheels, Thermo--something… Straps. It is all pretty amusing, really.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Woah you’re right. That was odd. I don’t think I have seen games where mirrors and ash need to load, lol. Anyway, it’s on you now. I should probably get to work… Got a dragon mold that might look more like a pet lizard to do damage control on.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Smiling wide he replies quickly.

StithisBaker: Put in the second disc, then enter my Pesterchum Handle. That should set you up as my Host.

A second message pops up and he grins.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Okay, I'll do my second disc now. This should be interesting. Thanks for playing Bubbles!

Pulling out his second disc he pops it in and waits. A window pops up and he's a little surprised to see it looks almost like the old DoS program used to load games in the way back. Grinning at the black window with the white words “Enter Player Name” he quickly types in “BubblegumcAndi” and waits for her to accept the host invite.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: A small window appears on your screen reading “Stithis wishes to be your SBURB host, do you accept? (Y) (N)

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: With a sigh Laurra stick in the second disc, hoping this game will get interesting soon, or else she'll go back to sitting around lazily with nothing to do. The owner of the room she's in doesn't even have textbooks she could read or anything. Such a lame kid in her oppinion. She raises an eyebrow, watching a window pop up. Without re-checking the name of the peson who said they would be her “player” she enters “Baker” and waits.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Baker: A small window appears on your screen reading “Skip wishes to be your SBURB host, do you accept? (Y) (N)

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Without hesitation, Andi presses the Y button on her keyboard, curious what was going to happen next. Screw planning for her dragon's paintjob, she wants to know what the hell this game even was. Now she just needs to host someone else... right? She clicks through her contacts on Pesterchum for a minute, looking through the names. She had Stithis, and already messaged Fire Lord. He still hasn't responded, which is entirely unsurprising, she has no idea what time it is in England, or the UK, or wherever he is. He also tends to disappear for months at a time. Perhaps she should send messages to a few others, just to make sure she can play the game -eventually-. Nothing happens immediately, so she figures it is because she needs to host someone as well to actually play. Bummer.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: After watching for several seconds Marcus watches at the black screen fads to white, then after a second it fades back in and he sees. . . . “Can't be. . .” he says softly, staring wide eyed at the little window. Fulls screening it he stares, watching as the blonde haired woman, the tell tale blue and pink stripes marker her as the woman he's seen over and over in her photos of her work stare at her computer screen, obviously waiting for something to happen. The instructions once more tumble over and other through his head and with a wicked grin he pulls out his phone.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Hey, chika, your workshop rocks. Who's the bitchy looking chick a few seats down?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: Sophia ducked behind a rock for cover, as the Legendary Dragon's Drain Life Shout blew towards her. She grinned, having spawned three of these bastards in with console commands, just for an extra challenge, and began shooting at the beast's head with her Legendary Dragonbone bow. She was halfway through the battle when she noticed a message on Pesterchum on her spare monitor, but quickly dispatched the beasts with a few top-level Destruction spells before responding.

'Hmm, SBURB... gave it a look a few days ago, but I really wanted to play this new Skyrim mod. I suppose it could be worth a look,' she thought, looking down at the disk. Strangely enough, it was apparently a true disk download instead of the usual online downloads that were common these days. The game had been a gift from an older family member, and she had thought little of it, deciding that she would get around to it "eventually." Shrugging, she typed back.

SelendriFireLord: I've never played before, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: “Finally.” James murmurs, sitting up and gazing at his computer screen with the gleam back in his eye. He hadn't had to wait long, but with his desire to leave the real world behind, it had seemed an eternity. Typing back quickly he downloads the first disc before pulling out the second, completely ignoring the rather flashy download screen.

Fire LordSelendri: Let me know when you've downloaded the player disc then.

He then slips in the Host disc, and waits.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Timothy didn’t respond to his latest message. Instead, he just put in the second disc and typed in Stithis. Well, he had to do it twice because he spelled the name wrong the first time. He thought he’d be left to wait for more downloading, however instead of it, another message popped up. This one was different from his contacts. “My host, oh right.” He pressed yes and then sat back to wait. Nothing happened immediately, so he assumed it had to register. He wondered if Skip had gotten everything together as well. In the mean time, he pulled a small notepad from the side and wrote down recipe ideas for later. He probably wouldn’t play the game all day, so he might as well plan how he was going to use the rest of his time. If he was going to sit about, he might as well bake something later.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Moments later the little window changes to what looks like a camera view of someone's room, with a very realistic person sitting at a desk, writing something. Looking around with the command box she decides to have a little fun and see if she can scare her little player. Grabbing a book from a nearby shelf with the Select cursor she begins floating it around her player's head.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: The message pops up on Andi's screen, and she finds herself puzzled, and extremely confused.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: What are you talking about?

But because she can’t really wait for a response, she types again.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Does this game have some sort of webcam?

She probably shouldn’t have installed something on the computer that could access their webcams, but…since the damage has clearly been done already, she answers the question.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: That’s Autumn, by the way. She likes to be ‘oh so perfect.’ But you totally called it on the B-card. Most of the rest of the crew are eating, since the molds need time to set. But they will invade soon and start working astutely.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: A string of messages come in all at once and he smiles vaguely at them.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: I can totally see you right now. It's like, candid camera style. Like, I'm sitting several feet over your shoulder. Is there some sort of security cam? Maybe this game is some secret government program. . .That would be awesome.

He looks again at the aforementioned “Autumn” and lets out a huff. “Well, maybe I can mess with her or something. . . .” Not really expecting anything to happen he clicks the Select cursor and “grabs” her computer and lifts it. To his surprise it actually rises up a foot and she lets out an ungodly shriek. Dropping it quickly he can't help but laugh as she faints on the spot, slumping down in her chair. “This is the most awesome game ever.” he whispers in awe, looking at Bubbles to see her reaction. However his phone flashes and he sees that Baker is ready to host him. Hitting Y quickly, he goes back to watching Bubbles.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Baker: The black window fades to white, then fades in. You can see a teenager looking intently at a screen, what looks to be an open kitchen on his right, and on his left a couch, many game consoles, and a huge flat screen TV.

GM → Selendri: After popping in the first disk, your screen goes black for a moment then - mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002037 Before fading back to your desktop.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Yea, right. Andi doesn’t really believe what Stithis is saying, but she looks over her shoulder anyway, searching for a camera, but she doesn’t see one. Of course not.

Then suddenly, Autumn shrieks, drawing her attention back to the woman, to see her computer hovering in mid-air for a few moments before it crashes, and Autumn faints. “What the fuck?” She says aloud, and then sits down quickly at the computer to type, hitting enter repeatedly before she composes her entire thoughts.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: What just happened? Was that you?
BubblegumcAndiStithis: Holy shit….that was… is there a word for awesome and terrifying?
BubblegumcAndiStithis: Also…
BubblegumcAndiStithis: Why didn’t you tell me you had super fucking telepathy mind powers shit?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: “I wish.” he murmurs, thinking about having actual mind powers. Instead of typing that though he replies -

StithisBubblegumcAndi: That wasn't me Bubbles, that was the game, I swear. Somehow this game lets us play with real life.

Selecting the next cursor he decides to show her what he means. Moving over to the nearest wall, he uses the Revise cursor to creat a little alcove jutting out from what was once a flat wall.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: How the Revise Cursor works - mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002048
mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002049

_+_+_+_+_+_

StithisBubblegumcAndi: See? No friggan mind powers could to THAT.

Stithis: Deciding to play around a bit he goes to the Host Equipment Registry and grabs the first thing he sees and puts it in the alcove with the Deploy cursor. “Totem Lathe huh? Cool. . . .”

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: How the Deploy Cursor works - mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002051

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: Selendri installed the player disk, expecting the usual "boring" install prompts. Instead, she was treated to a display of flashing lights with no prompts or options, just some messages under the loading bar that passed by much faster than expected. Tapping her foot to the background music, she muttered, "Strange."

SelendriFire Lord: Interesting.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Taking her one word response as a sign that she'd complied with his command he slips in the second disc and inputs her name in the box when prompted. Smiling he waits for the game to start, wondering just what he'll be able to do as “Host”. He's read the manual, but what do manuals tell you, really?

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: A small window appears on your screen reading “Fire Lordis wishes to be your SBURB host, do you accept? (Y) (N)

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: “Hm, maybe a pie. An apple pie? Oh, or muffins.” Baking was relaxing! He could even give some of the goodies to the nice little flower shop down the road. The screen change made him look up again. He examined the realistic setting on the game. He never played games with this much quality. He looked through his command box and used the select tool to pull one of the consoles out of place.

BakerStithis: This game is so life-like! Man, I wish I had a nice flat screen TV like this one. And so many consoles! Who has time to play all these games?!

He carefully lifted one of the consoles and put it on the couch. The sounds of books leaning on their sides made Tim spin in his chair to see what caused the minor commotion. However, much to his surprise, he spotted a book over his head instead. “Wah!?” He nearly fell out of his chair. “My cookbook!?” He hesitated, but then reached up for it. “How in the world. . .?”

Stithis: Marcus checks his messages again and grins.

StithisBaker: I see you like my living room.

He looks over and watches a few of his consoles move about. If he had not done the exact thing to a computer moments ago, he would be freaking out right now, but as it is, he's too psyched for how awesome this game promises to be.

StithisBaker: But I see you don't like the arrangement :P

Looking over at the side of his desk he notices a stack of pink cards the size of sheets of paper have appeared. “Oh, those must be those “Chapalog” things the booklet spoke of. . . .” Reaching out he touches them, watching in fascination as they disappear, and reappear before him in a semi circle, just within reach and seemingly unaffected by being halfway inside his desk. “Cool. . .It's like an item user panel, but in real life!”

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Baker/BubblegumcAndi: A stack of pink cards the size of sheets of paper appear on a surface near you.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Giggling maniacally Laurra wiggles the book back and forth before dropping it next to the character. “Well, the fear is funny at least. I wish this game had some sound though. . . .” she murmurs, looking for other things to play with around her player's house. Finding a few things to play with she just moves them around for a while, seeing if she can stack them.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: Cocking an eyebrow at the prompt, she absentmindedly clicked "Y" while inserting the second "host" disk to install.

SelendriFire Lord: I hope this lives up to the hype. Even I've been hearing about it. Some people have reported strange things happening when they play, but it's all vague rumor at this point.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: A window pops up with a black background and the words “Enter Player Name” in white with a flashing cursor next to them.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: After a few seconds the black window fades to white, then slowly an image appears. Looking at it he has to marvel at the graphics for a few seconds before doing anything. “Well, these are definitely the most realistic graphics I've ever seen. . . .” he murmurs, shifting the camera around with the controls to see the room at different angles.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: A stack of pink cards the size of sheets of paper appear on a surface near you.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Tim watched stuff float around his small living room. The books and shelf, the couch and the coffee table- fortunately whatever was causing this didn’t mess with any of his valuables- like the TV for one thing. “This is sooo weird. . .” The notifications made him pause and look at the computer- glancing back at the stacked things every now and then. “That’s not normal. . .”

BakerStithis: Your living room?

BakerStithis: Wait! It’s happening to you too?! This is your stuff? No way!”

Now the baker was shocked. What kind of game was this?!

BakerStithis: Wah! Sorry, sorry! I didn’t know this was your stuff.

Tim carefully decided put things back in place. Then, the next thing he knew there was a stack of paper next to his notepad. “This game is really weird.” Then something clicked in his head. If he controlled Stithis things. . .

BakerSkip: Hey! Are you moving my things?? That’s really crazy. But can you be careful with my things please? I don’t want anything to break. Thanks.

He examined the papers and watched as they disappeared and then reappeared again. “I wonder what I’m supposed to do next?” Tim examined the empty cards, trying to figure out what each was for. Or how to put items in it.

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: "Whoa... were those there before?" Sophia muttered. "I'm usually not that forgetful." Looking at a page in the manual in front of her, she mused, "Huh, they look like those chapalog things... but, that's odd. It's..." On impulse, she tried to pick one up, and found that they fanned out before her, almost like a game inventory. "Okay, what the fuck?"

SelendriFire Lord: ... I think.... I think I know why those rumors are going around. I almost wish I could say I've had some drugs or something, because this is... odd. But I'm sober.

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Marcus chuckles at the vehement apologies coming from Baker and just shakes his head.

StithisBaker: S'ok man, I know that you won't bust up my stuff. I did the same thing to a computer in my own player's environment, and man did the chick next to her freak out. I would feel bad for her, but Bubbles says she was a grade A bitch, so I'm not feeling too much of the bad here. And yeah, this is my room. Is tis the most awesome game or what!?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra pauses in her play when another message comes up. With a sigh she pulls it up. It takes several times reading it before she realizes what the person is talking about.”The hell?” she says, all traces of her sleepiness gone as she types back.

SkipBaker: . . . .Are you trying to tell me I'm actually moving stuff around, in real life? That's bullshit. . . .

Bitting her lip she stares for a long moment before grabbing a book again and dropping it on to the desk next to the “Player” to see how it reacts.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: While poking around in the bathroom, rearranging a few things for fun, a message pops up and he reads it. Cocking an eyebrow curiously he replies.

Fire LordSelendri: Whatever do you mean?

Moving back out to where the character is he begins playing with various objects around the room. Grabbing the TV off it's stand he watches as the graphics go so far as to have the plug pull out of the wall as he does so. Deciding moving stuff around is no longer all that fun however, he decides to move the stand as well and drop in some equipment to play with. Once it's out of the way he place the Totem Lathe against the wall where the TV was with the Deploy cursor.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: "Holy testicle Tuesday," Selendri yelled, quickly sending the same message to Fire Lord.

SelendriFire Lord: "Holy testicle Tuesday! The stuff in my room is literally moving itself around. And a gigantic thing just appeared in my room.... That's not... ... Holy shit, I need to stop playing and figure this out right now. This can't be... it's not the game. No game can do that... What the fuck is this thing? I'm going to check it out.

She hastily typed, getting up to inspect the Totem Lathe.

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Having fun with the deploy function he drops a second device, the Cruxtruder, in the middle of the kitchen before checking his messages. When he read it however he stares wide eyed at it,then looks to see the “Character” near the lathe. “No waaaay. . . .” he whispers, a little freaked out by the idea that pops up in his head. “This can not be. . . .” A faint thrill begins pushing it's way through the panic and a wicked grin appears on his lips. 'If I'm right, this is the ultimate power, and I am a god. . .'

Fire LordSelendri: Are you a girl with green hair?

The feeling of power surges through him and he decides to deploy the last item, wanting to see the girl on the screen react to having more objects just appearing around her. Moving a smallish table out of the way he drops the Alchemiter near her front door, and then drops the Pre-Punched Card on the table now located behind the couch in the living room. He can't quite make it out, but the picture on the card seems to be of a green something or another. Sitting back he waits to see her response.

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: A long stream of panicked curses ejaculates from Sophia's mouth as she sees foreign objects literally appearing out of no where. "This is fucking insane!" she mutters, running around to inspect the new machines while trying to ensure that none fall on her head.

SelendeiFire Lord: Yes. I am... ... How do you know that?

A completely absurd thought dawns on her, and before waiting for Fire Lord to answer, she types another message.

SelendriFire Lord: This isn't you, is it? This isn't.... it's not the game...

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: A mad cackle finds it's way out from the depths of James' chest as he watches her run around frantically. “This is great!” he hisses, pulling up his chat box, watching the player on the screen run back to her computer. “Three, two, one. . .” he mutters, then with a rush of glee he watches a message appear on his screen that sends him into bliss. He knows he's not a god, and he knows that if this is a real person, he should be nice, but before he can stop himself he replies.

Fire LordSelendri: I can see you. . . .

He knows it's a little creepy, but an instant later another message appears and he smiles a little less meanly. Sitting back he hums to himself. “I coooould tell her yeah, I am doing this all on my own, Howeeeever. . .Then the game would be ruined. I would have to chase her all over the place. . . .” With a sigh he decides on a more rational response.

Fire LordSelendri: This IS the game you silly woman. This game is letting me do some fairly fun things, such as this.

He grabs the nearest small object and places it atop the fridge.

Fire LordSelendri: Find a player, check it out for yourself! It's quite a rush you know, having this power. . .

Sitting back again he wonders what he should do about finding his own host, realizing that he'll need all those items he just deployed himself if he wants to advance in the game. Looking around the room he decides to do a bit of rearranging so that the devices will fit more comfortably without the hassle of letting his Host moving his stuff to places he may not want them.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: Sophia rolled her eyes and typed back.

SelendriFire Lord: I think I am responding quite well for someone who just had stuff floating in her room and had random large objects appearing from nowhere. This shit shouldn't be physically possible.

Still, he had a point. Sophia was tempted to try this for herself. By now, the second disk had finished installing, so she posted herself as an available Host, hoping the game would automatically set her up with someone. Grabbing her manual, she started flipping through it to try and understand what the hell she was looking at. Then, she got up to look at her new machines including something called the Cruxtruder.

SelendriFire Lord: What the fuck have you gotten me into, kid?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: He hears the first message pop up, but as the youth rich kid is in the middle of the very strenuous activity of moving his small coffee table against the outside wall of his closet he ignores it. Humming an old jazz song to himself he smiles wide, all the hurt and upset from before gone, washed away in the delight of this amazing discovery. “I can't believe there's a game like this out there. I never knew such advances had been made!” He switches to whistling to himself, moving his shoes out of the way in his closet just in case his host decides to be “cute” and stick something in there. When the second message pops up he's just finishing rearranging his bathroom, leaving a large space in the middle open just in case, again, his Host is the adorable type that will decide putting all of his gear in the same room is for squares.

As he sits back down at his computer, wiping the sweat from his brow with his handkerchief, he recalls that one of the people from before offered to host him and before replying to the flashing window he decides that the artist woman will be good enough for his needs.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: Would you be so kind as to be my host?

Pulling up he other window he rolls his eyes and lets out a sigh.

Fire LordSelendri: I suppose you are correct, it is quite a frightening thing to have what you thought impossible happening around you all of a sudden. As for my getting into this, you quite clearly got yourself into it, having purchased this game of your own volition, I am simply facilitating your play.

With a nod at himself he sends the message and decides to grab one of his cold beverages from his mini fridge. Standing up he stretches, slipping around his chair and kneeling down, pulling open the icebox and grabbing an orange juice. His eyes land on the scattered sundries that had fallen from his bag when he'd flung it earlier just to his left and with another sigh he closes the door and begins cleaning up, not wanting his Host to think him a messy person. In the dorms, some of his fellows had hired maids, but not wanting anyone to touch his things, James has had to learn the fine art of tidying up all on his own.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: In the middle of playing with the easily frightened man's things, Laurra notices a message from another of the kid's contacts. With a sigh she decides that having a host might make the game even more fun, and it's not like they can really do anything to her. She's already tried a few times to pick up the person but the cursor simply refuses to do that. Picking out the first disc she looks at the top for several seconds, the cloud pattern quite serene, then tossing it aside the send a message to this “Selendri”.

SkipSelendri: I need a host. . . .

BubblegumcAndi: It is…the game? Andi doesn’t want to believe it at first, but she knows it is the most likely answer anyway. Stithis never would have kept something this cool from her. She begins to type a message to him, but jumps when the wall suddenly disappears, and the room gets larger.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Just don’t make the floor disappear from under me, alright? This shit is a bit scary on the receiving end.

She gets another message, and gives a small nod before typing again.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: No, but I think drugs might be able to have a similar effect. Are you sure we aren’t on some…? Hell, you are just words on a screen—maybe I am just hallucinating.

A machine appears in the new alcove, and Andi walks warily over to the Totem Lathe. She tilts her head, recognizing the new item from the manual, and goes over to her bag, flipping through it to reread the section. Since she isn’t a host yet, she doesn’t know if there is more information there. Thinking about the purpose in real life suddenly makes her care much more about understanding the manual, and she reads through the paragraph twice. She needs pre-punched card blueprint of an item to make it, but mixing cards will mix items.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Alright… I think I can cope with this. There is more equipment in the manual that I need, right?

BubblegumcAndiStithis: And by the way…can you hear me when I am talking…or just see me?

BubblegumcAndiStithis: And is it just in this room?

Before she gets a response, she decides to test it out. She goes over to Autumn, shaking her awake and saying her name. She can’t exactly leave the girl there passed out, even though she wants to. “What the hell is going on?” Autumn asks. “Don’t touch me, you freak!”

Rolling her eyes, Andi steps back a bit. “I should ask the same thing for you. The program wasn’t doing what you wanted and you flipped out and dropped the monitor.” Andi gestures to the broken equipment in front of her, and Autumn’s eyes widen, immediately claiming that she hadn’t. She rushes out of the room before she notices the alcove, and Andi wonders for a moment if the other girl sees it, and what excuse she will make if they do.

Leaving the room, Andi goes to the workshop and checks on her mold, seeing Autumn flee the work room, presumably to go upstairs to the Teacher’s office an talk to them there. She checks on her mold, talking to a few of the other students briefly. When she returns to the computer lab, she checks for messages from Stithis, realizing that she should probably just turn Pesterchum on her phone, to make it easier to check these things.
-.-
A short while later, a stack of pink cards appears beside her, and she grabs the manual, which feels more like a bible at this point, to re-read what those things are for. Apparently, they are for storing items. Though she really really wants to test it, she isn’t sure if things can be made un-items, or if she only has 12 for this entire game duration.
-.-
And then the message from Fire Lord. Slightly detached, totally uninformative, a little weird, even for him. Andi feels like usually he is at least a bit more conversational. Perhaps he really needs the escape.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: Of course. I shall have the disk ready momentarily. You’ll know when.

Remembering the prompt that appeared on her screen when she let Stithis be her host, she figures Fire Lord will know right away. Removing the first disk, Andi puts in the second one, and reads the prompt asking for the name of the user she would like to host, and tentatively enters Fire Lord.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BakerSkip: I can assure you, it’s very real. Because my stuff is all scattered about now.

He was really glad he didn’t have that much stuff. Even more so because he wasn’t in the kitchen. At this point, the floating book didn’t freak him out as much, but he did flinch and cover his head to prevent getting hit. He then picked it up and waved the book in front of the computer. He didn’t remember setting up the webcam feature for the game. . .

BakerSkip: See? I’m waving the book you dropped. Real as can be.

Another message popped up as he went over to return the book back to it’s place on the shelf.

BakerStithis: The same thing happened to me. Except books were flying over my head. This game is freaky! I don’t even know the point of it besides invade people’s homes.

Tim started clicking on other things in the house. He couldn’t move Stithis, so he tried moving the chair he was sitting in, then tried for something larger like pushing the wall next to him. This game was way too realistic. What could this game possibly add to make this even more weirder than it was? Shouldn’t he have called someone about this. . .

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Seeing a few messages from Bubbles the gamer pulls up her window and reads.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Yeah, a few more, but you may wanna clear the room first. I think we were lucky with her passing out an all to let me put down the first one. Also, no, no drugs for me, I'm clean, and I don't think you're seeing things Bubbles.

He watches as she moves over the girl to wake her up, chuckling at the obviously less than friendly exchange. He decided not to address the floor thing since he's quite sure she knows he wouldn't.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: No, can't hear you. And let me check on the room thing.

Playing with the arrow toggles at the top left of her window he begins looking around her environment, finding he can only go so far from her before his select cursor turns red. He takes this as a sign that he can't use it outside the room they started in, until it suddenly turns green and he sees her enter the room he was looking at. “Oh, cool, so it only works in an area around her. . .Got it!” Pulling up Pesterchum he decides to fill her in on this new info.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Hey chika, it looks like I can only affect an area of about 20-30 feet around you, not really sure the exact distances yet, but yeah, it's not confined to the room you started in, it's confined to the area around you specifically. Is this sweet or what!?

With a sigh Marcus sits back in his chair and pulls up a few news feed. If kids all around the world are playing this game, someone must have reported these strange incidents. He moved a friggan wall, at a school! Someone has to know what's going on. Unfortunately he finds nothing about moving objects or houses changing shape, but what he does find stops him cold. 'This isn't. . . .' Pulling out his game booklet once more he reads the last part again.

The final note I have is about the Timer on the Cruxtruder. If that sucker reaches zero before you enter the game, it's Game Over. See, it's counting down to the time when the place you're standing gets hit by a meteor.

Without even contacting her he begins deploying all of her machinery before sending a link to the news feed he found to all of his contacts.

StithisBubblegumcAndi/Skip/Baker: Guys we gotta get a move on! All the stuff in the manual is real so far, and that means the last part too, and I think the only way we're gonna survive this is getting into the friggan game!!!!! [Link]

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi/Skip/Baker: You receive a link to a news feed, the story: All over the world there have been reports of a frighteningly high amount of falling stars, many of them causing rather devastating damage upon impact. None have hit any major cities thus far, the damage normally contained to rural areas, but a few have been spotted coming close to major cities such as London and New York. More on this situation as it progresses.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: He hears the bing from his Pesterchum just as he finishes stuffing the last thing back into his bag and after carefully setting it next to his fridge he slides into his seat once more, hitting the 'Y' with a smile before reading her message.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: Thank you so much. I do hope you do not find my room a frightful mess, I tried cleaning up before you were forced to see it.

Turning in his chair he smiles up at where the camera had been for him and waves before turning back to his computer.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: This game is quite fascinating, I can't wait to begin the creation and building parts, not to mention perhaps some combat later on, as we are informed we will need weapons. Have you seen anything worthy of fighting yet?

Quickly he pulls up Pesterchum on his phone and moves to stand by the window next to his desk so she can get on with giving him his items without having to worry too much about squishing him. Looking at the window sill he feels a small wave of sadness as he spots a dead bird, a hummingbird, resting there. 'Poor thing, must have run into the window. . .'

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Smiling wide she watches as the guy waves the book, then says he's waving the book. “This is freaky, and I'm not sure if I believe it yet. I guess I'll see what happens when that person from before gets back to me. . .” With a grin she begins playing with the other buttons. Finding some really large objects she decides that it would be fun to drop those next. Plopping 2 upstairs, she zooms downstairs and drops the biggest one, the Alchemiter or whatever, in the middle of the shop, then goes back upstairs and drops the card on the guys head for fun. On it is what looks like a blue muffin, but she doesn't really care, eager to watch him react to the new form of teasing. She ignores the message from the other guy, to busy teasing the young man.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Seeing a message from Baker, Marcus pulls it up, staring for a long moment before typing back.

StithisBaker: Dude, watch the feed, then drop me my stuff, use the shop if it won't all fit. We gotta get on this.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: It is a bummer that Stithis can’t hear her. She was already imagining how she could make herself look like she had super powers by calling for things and having him bring them over to her in front of her classmates. When she returns to the room she sees all of the other equipment appearing there.

Pulling up her pesterchum on her phone, she sees a few messages from Stithis. Sweet is… certainly one word for it, though Andi prefers to think that it is a bit creepy. Her second thought is that if she gets a wedgie, she is done for, because that is just utter embarrassment on all fronts when she has someone else watching her.

The next message is quite unsettling however. She pulls out the manual again and rereads the end for herself. They need to complete their chain, but she hasn’t even gotten the response from Fire Lord that he has accepted her as his host. She clicks the link to the news story about freak meteors and groans.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Shit. That’s not pleasant. But it isn’t counting down…yet, right? So as long as I don’t open the box, I won’t have to deal with a meteor…right? Stithis?

BubblegumcAndiStithis: I’m not even a host yet. Fire Lord asked me to host, but he is so flaky—he might never get around to the ‘accepting’ part.

As soon as Andi finishes the message, she gets a shockingly calm one from Fire Lord—and he seems to know what is going on and expect it. Thank god. He has accepted her Hosting. She goes back over to her computer and sees his apartment, which doesn’t look like a mess at all—not compared to her room at home. He waves, which is just eerie, really, and messages her again, that it is all fascinating and he is acutally looking forward to the combat.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: You know that there is a meteor coming to you, right? Read the last bit in the manual… I don’t know how you are so calm about this… Must be a British thing.

She looks over the host controls, manual next to the computer, to try to figure out what she needs to do. There are four things that she needs to give to Fire Lord and he has already made some space for it, it would seem. She selects the items, one at a time, and places them in his living room. She only accidentally clicks and moves a few things, and she is pretty sure that she hasn’t broken any of his stuff. Andi is confident that she has never been this nervous. One flick of the wrist and she might impale Fire Lord with his own desk.

Once the items are placed in the large open space, she messages him again.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: There. I think you have it all now. I take it you have someone to host, right? Do they have someone to host as well? We need to get this chain closed.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: I don’t want to go out like the dinosaurs…

BubblegumcAndiStithis: I am hosting Fire Lord, who is already hosting someone I think, since he is incredibly calm. What about you—Who is hosting you?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Chewing his lips he watches her pull up the feed them message him. He bites his bottom lip a little to hard and lets out an “Ow!” before pulling his keyboard closer to type.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: I don't know, I just don't know. I think it might be counting down no matter what. Like, as soon as the game is downloaded. That, that makes sense to me, that it starts counting down as soon as the game starts. There's no way that all these strikes came from gamers, and no way that all of them even got as far as turning it on since there are a lot of people I can see just DLing it, then being too bummed about the host thing and just putting it aside. I think. . .I think even without opening it we would get meteored. . .I just don't want to risk it. . . .Also, get him to friggan respond. We need to find and finish this chain!

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: As asked he reads the last bit of the manual over again and find himself unphased. 'Is there really anything around here I would mind losing? Anyone I really want about?' He thinks for a long minute, trying to recall all the people in his life, and the only faint flicker of sadness comes when he thinks of his older brother who had been disowned when he was still very young. He remembers having fun with him, play fighting in the back yard with fake swords and his brother playing the dragon every once in a while. 'But he's gone now. . .' He thinks with a soft sigh. Looking down at the screen he looks at the last line and smirks. Over the top of his phone he notices a few thing appearing out of nowhere but he ignore it for now, trusting that the woman would be a more than sufficient decorator.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: I doubt my dorm mates would react quite as calmly as I. Perhaps the idea of what's coming is simply a calming feeling. After all, there is nothing I can think of in this world that I would really miss, and as the game has provided us with all the things needed to survive, I find myself content with the idea of leaving all the depressing and loathsome things in my life behind.

He knows his “Fuck the world” attitude may disturb his post, but as the last item is placed he smiles gently and types to her.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: Thank you so much.

Another set of messages pops up before he can put his phone away and he nods.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: I am hosting a green haired girl who seems to be a bit scatterbrained, but I am sure she will find someone soon enough, now that she is no longer freaking out. I too wish to survive this. Thank you again for the assist, but would you mind opening the Cruxtruder for me? As you can see I really have nothing which which to strike with the necessary force.

He refrains from saying that even if he had, he would have no way of wielding something that heavy and instead tries to phrase it to imply he could, had he only the means. He doesn't want to appear weak, for this is a game, and in games, he is not weak. Tucking his phone into it's hip holster he moves around the room, examining each device until he is quite sure he understands them all quite well before picking up the card of the floor. Looking over at his desk he spots the stack of pink ones and nods to himself before reaching out to touch them, bringing his inventory cards up before him to examine as well.

Experimentally he reaches out and grab an empty one. The card settles right into his hand and turning it around to the back side he sees 00000000 in hard-to-read colors on the back. With a huff he puts it back, then wanders over to his desk. Touching one of his many pencils he thinks “Chapalog” and much to his delight the item vanishes. Pulling up the cards again he grins as he spots the pencil on the card now. Reaching out he mentally demands the pencil back and, like magic, it appears in his hand. “This is so cool. . .” he murmurs, putting the pencil back on to his desk and looking around for a weapon of some sort. Pulling out the manual he begins getting ideas of things he wants to grab from the surrounding area before entering the game.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: With a sigh he watches another message pop up just as he finishes writing his and sending it. Looking over his shoulder, not exactly leery but a bit curious as to how Baker is getting along with his own host, he looks back at the screen and replies.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: I'm being hosted by my friend Baker. I think he's got a host already. He said he's got stuff flying all around his house. I'll ask if his host has a host. Man, this feels like trying to play Snake, but the tail keeps getting further and further away and harder and harder to catch with each “Dot” that gets added. . .

Before he messages Baker however he grabs a table from the room with all the clay in it and brings it into the lounge where the Cruxtruder is, the object becoming incorporeal as he adjust the view, and becoming solid once more once he moves the cursor back on to the screen. “Sorry Bubbles, I need to know. . .” he murmurs, and with a flick of his wrist he smacks the top of the pipe jutting out the top of the Cruxtruder. It almost looks like th table bounces off the thing, but just to be safe he sets the table aside to watch what happens.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: After being struck, the Cruxtruder does this - mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002077 Except the flash and the Kernel are Aquamarine, as is the Dowel inside the pipe. A timer on the side lights up showing a 45 minute timer, counting down.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Looking at the timer he lets out a hissing breath. “Oh boy. . . .” he mutters. He knows he needs another one to be opened in order to see if his theory is correct. That the timer is more of a warning than an activation.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Stithis seems to be a bit more composed than Andi—maybe. He suggests that the meteors are on their way from the time that the game is downloaded, which is far from reassuring. His message later says that he has a host, and that person has a host, but Andi knows that they need these names.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Exactly. Give me the Pesterchums of your host and his host—we need to set up a group chat and try to close this thing before it gets too big.

She looks up in surprise as a table from the other room appears overhead and hits her Cruxtruder. She moves closer once the glowing stops, and frowns. 45 minutes. That isn’t very long. Looking over her shoulder where she remembers him saying the camera is, Andi gives a weak smile, and then plops back down at her computer.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: We only have as long as the shortest person in the loop…right? What’s yours?

Fire Lord’s response is a bit unsettling, but she is used to him being a bit dark. He says that there is nothing he would miss, and Andi shakes her head a little as she types a response to him.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: But if you die, you don’t get to figure out what kind of enemies you might need to fight in this game :P

Fire Lord explains that he is hosting a girl, and Andi follows up with asking for her name.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: What is her Pesterchum? I want to get this tied up as soon as possible. If we don’t get this handled, I’m going to pull the fire alarm, at least get as many people out as possible. Can you see where it is in your building?

While she waits for an answer, she rereads the part about opening the Cruxtruder, and opens up the manual again. How is everyone else suddenly so comfortable with this shit? She rereads how she is supposed to bounce some sort of heavy object off of the top of it, and looks around his room for something to use. She sees a book on his desk, beside the laptop, and tries that first. The book bounces off of the top, but nothing happens. Having just seen what hers looks like when it opens, Andi is pretty sure that she needs something heavier, and looks around again.

Since there isn’t much else around this guy’s apartment, she tries something a bit weird and lifts the bed. That does the trick, and she drags it back to the corner as the Cruxtruder does a crazy glowy thing. She leans in towards the screen, wondering how much time Fire Lord has.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Bubbles asks how long he has and with a huff he looks over his shoulder.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: D'know on my time. Baker hasn't dropped my things yet. And his Name's Baker. Don't know his Host's name. Lemme ask.

StithisBaker: Yo, dude, what's your Host's handle?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Watching in fascination as his bed rises off the floor, the book from before laying forgotten on the carpet, James smiles as it goes about opening his Cruxtruder as requested. Bringing his phone up he reads her message about him apparently wanting to die. He rolls his eyes at that, then reads her next message. “Hmmmmm.” he hums, looking about. “There's one in every room actually. . .”

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: There is a fire alarm in each room that will set off the entire building. Selendri is her handle. And yes, a complete chain is a good idea. Mandatory for beating the game, right? Oh, and thank you for opening that for me.

Slipping his phone away he walks over to the flashy orange ball, only looking at it for a few seconds before turning away, clutching his head. “Ow.” he mutters, looking at the timer on his Cruxtruder. He's pleased to see that he has an hour and seventeen minutes, giving him plenty of time to gather stuff from the area around his room to play with once the game starts.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Timothy hears all the stuff moving about in his home, but he becomes a little preoccupied by Stithis’ message, along with another message that pops up. “As freaky as it is, the end can’t really happen because of a game, can it?” He didn’t sound very convincing. The next message that popped up made his uneasiness grow more. Falling stars? Falling in cities!? That didn’t sound good at all. “Oh dear that’s not good, that’s not good!” And he couldn’t just shut the game down. That wouldn’t work. No, now he had to finish what he started.

He noticed the punched card with the muffin and set it to the side. It looked important. “Oh, Stithis said something about his equipment. “Um…” Looking at the controls, he figured out which went where. They were supposed to go in the cards right? But what looked like it could be used? With how pressured he felt- who wouldn’t feel pressured when they were told they could possibly die because of a game- Tim hurried and selected a few items. First was the Alchemiter. He put that in the living room. The Cruxtruder didn't fit with it so he put that in the dining room. There was a Totem Lathe thing (Tim had to go back to read what each of these things did) and he ended up placing it by the door. “I think that’s-oh wait.” The card was then placed on his desk.

BakerStithis: I really hope this is a cruel joke dude. But I got all your equipment out. Check your rooms.

He had to find his things too. He still was a player in this after all. Swiveling the chair around he spotted the Card and the Alchemiter but where were the other two things??

BakerSkip: Did you see the news feed? About the falling stars? I really hope that’s not real, but I’d rather not take any chances! Can you tell me where those other two items are so we can get this game over with...or started? Make sure you get your host to do the same!

BakerStithis: My host’s name is Skip. Something else isn’t wrong is it?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: As he says this however things begin appearing in his house and Marcus swivels around in his chair to watch. With a nod he quickly makes note of all their locations, watching as the card settles gently on to his desk and he smiles, giving a thumbs up in the general direction of the ceiling, hoping Baker would be able to see it. Since his apartment is distinctly lacking in walls he can see everything fine from his seat and as he swivels back around he smiles at the screen.

StithisBaker: I got'em all dude, thanks. I wish this was a joke, but no, it's real as far as I can tell. You may wanna get a move on.

A few moments later, before he can stand and get to work he spots Baker's next message and quickly replies.

StithisBaker: Nah, my player is just setting up a group chat for all of us, needs our names. Thanks, bro, and hurry!

StithisBubblegumcAndi: His Host is Skip, good luck. I'm going to see if I can get myself in the game now. Ping me when you need things!

With that he clips his phone on to the collar of his shirt and begins running around his apartment. Finding nothing suitably heavy that he can still lift to open his Cruxtruder, he slips past the Lathe and heads down into the shop. The newly rearranged shelf is already looking quite dusty and a strong wave of sadness runs through him, threatening to freeze him on the spot, as he thinks of his friends and family. 'They're all going to be dead soon. . .' He forces himself on however, quickly selecting an antique sledgehammer his uncle had repaired recently and heads back upstairs with it. He can barely lift the thing, but once in his apartment his adrenaline allows him to swing it with an almighty force and crash it into the lid of the Cruxtruder.

Covering his eyes against the flashing colors he waits until the red flare dies, smiling softly at the Kernel as it comes to float around him. Something about it makes him feel very peaceful. His mind flashes over the instructions in the manual and he glances down at the timer. His heart jumps into his throat as he sees that he has only fifteen minutes and twenty eight seconds. Glancing out his window he sees several flashes of light and flame in the distance, some not all that distant, and he forces himself to calm down and think. 'I need to get something that can, or once could vocalize. That's what I need, for, for the sprite thing. . . .'

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Letting out a sigh of disappointment Laurra's attention is caught by an odd sight. The near wall sized window behind the desk gives her a lovely view of the city from her place on the seventeenth floor, but for all it's loveliness it's the strange sight of flashing lights and what looks to be a fiery glow that actually catches her attention. Standing up she moves over to the window and looks out, trying to find the location of the fire. To her surprise, she sees that there are actually several fires, and as she watches, another thing flashes and this time she gets a decent look at it. “What the fuck?” she murmurs, watching the small meteor strike a building several streets away. Scowling, she looks at her computer which is making noise again.

Plopping down with a bit more attentiveness her scowl deepens. “Feed? What feed?” she says aloud, pulling up a web browser to try and find what the silly man is talking about. Looking up just “News, top story” she finds about a hundred online articles about shooting stars and devastation. Scowling the the point that he eyes are nearly closed she pulls up her Pesterchum again and types back.

SkipBaker: What the fuck is going on!? There are real fucking meteors out there!!! I saw one take out a Starbucks! THE FUCK!

She forces herself to relax, taking a few deep breaths and thinking about it logically for a few seconds before typing again.

SkipBaker: I ain't fucking dying here, so you'd better get your ass up and do what you need to do. I'll deal with my shit. Your other crap is downstairs, now move your ass!

With that she pulls out her cellphone and begins downloading Pesterchum, worrying about getting into the kid's account later, one of her little gadgets sure to make the job rather easy. Setting it aside she heads downstairs in Baker's house and without warning grabs a fridge and uses it to open her player's Cruxtruder.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Baker, So it was Baker → Stithis → BubblegumcAndi → Fire Lord→…

At least it is a start. Andi jots down the names on her manual in some blank space, figuring she will want to keep them close. She also starts a group chat, inviting Stitis and Firelord, and inviting the user Baker as well. Being productive, at least in some small form, calms her down a bit, and Andi can finally take a few breaths.

…Selendri. She checks and has received the message just after she invites the others, and adds an invite to Selendri to the group chat as well. Andi begins to compose a message to all of them, asking how much time they have, and how they can prepare for this the best, while stressing the need for them to find the end of their chain and connect them quickly.

Her pesterchum pings with another name. Skip, and she adds it to the top of her list. She hopes that Stithis communicated the need to know Baker’s host’s host’s name as well, but she will put that in the group message anyway.

BubblegumcAndiStithis/Baker/Skip/Fire Lord/Selendri: You are all the people I have so far in this chain: SkipBakerStithisBubblegumcAndiFire LordSelendri. I don’t know how long all of you have. I am running at about 40 minutes to get in the game. I am still re-reading the manual, but I am pretty sure to get through this, we need to complete our chain, which means the last person needs to host the first. Selendri, if you are already hosting someone, please add them to our chat. Skip, if you already have a host, please add them as well. If not, we need Selendri to host Skip, and ASAP.

BubblegumcAndi → Stithis/Baker/Skip/Fire Lord/Selendri: The only way we are going to get into the game (let alone beat it) is by working together. By the look of the news reports I’ve seen, the place we are each standing in will be struck by a meteor. I guess the difference is just if we are still there to experience it. I, for one, would prefer not to be. And if someone in the chain is struck by a meteor before we get this chain complete, then we need to find a new person to fill that spot or the rest will be doomed too. I might miss things, but I am going to list the things I know we each need to do…

…Andi has never been a particularly tanky character in games. In group MMORPGs, she tends to play a buffer, someone who works with everyone, and is generally helpful. Sometimes that means healer, and sometimes that means bard. Thinking of this whole thing as a game is a relief in a way. She can fall into her natural element, which in this case means making sure that everyone has the information they need to be successful, including her….

BubblegumcAndi → Stithis/Baker/Skip/Fire Lord/Selendri: Your host needs to release the 4 items from their host equipment. The big pipe needs to be struck with a heavy object—that will tell you how much time you have left, among other things. You will have a pre-punched card with a picture of an item on it. You need to damage or break it to enter the game, but first, you need to make it using the giant Lathe machine. Put the totem from the lathe on the Alchemiter and your totem will become the item you need.

BubblegumcAndi → Stithis/Baker/Skip/Fire Lord/Selendri: You also need to proto-type your sprite at least once. This means you need something that can/could vocalize sound, and any other object. It will be combined with the vocalizing thing to make….what I assume will later be some helpful sprite, like Navi. So if you hit the Cruxator, you should have a glowing ball of light following you. You need to put the vocalizing thing into it… I think. I am getting a bit fuzzy on that, so I will experiment and follow up. If anyone else has advice/tips, please post here! We all need the support.

Have read, and typed, most of the things she thinks she needs to do, Andi feels far more prepared to enter this game. She caught up to the things she needs to do, and has a place to start. The pre-punched card. Thinking of it she picks it up off her desk, and she glances at the object briefly before going over to the totem lathe and finding the slot for it. She grabs the bright blue down and turns the wheel until it is clamped in place, and then waits as the machine whirrs into life. Thinking of this all like a game, it certainly does seem like a tutorial. She has to use each piece of equipment correctly before she can prove that she is ready to go out and…do whatever this game requires to live. Still, Andi is pretty sure she prefers the games where the information box just appears when she goes up and clicks a new object.

When the machine stops, she takes the dowel and places it on the Alchemiter, and then looks over at her glowing sprite. She needs something that has or had the ability to speak. Immediately the snake upstairs comes to mind. Her professor keeps it to help teach students about the texture and color of scales. It feels a little… cruel to try to put her snake into the sprite, but she tries not to think about it too much as she goes upstairs and looks around for her professor. Unfortunately, they are all around, and she is going to have to get rid of them if she wants to proceed much further.

Just wait a bit longer, maybe until there are 20 minutes, and then pull the fire alarm. Get everyone out, and then finish your sprite. The logic is decent, to her, but she still has the issue of people staring and pointing at the glowing ball following her around. “It’s the ghost of my dead father.” She blurts out. While Andi has a few friends among this group who chuckle at her remark, the others look shocked and confused. She storms off, back down the stairs, and looks for things that might be able to be used as weapons, the crowbar being the first thing to come to mind, and the airbrush—oddly enough—second.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Marcus hears the notification on his computer but after seeing it as just an invite for the group chat he decides to get on with things rather than stick around and chat. Instead he just accepts the invite then runs downstairs. He has an idea. Through his panic, he can see an interesting image forming of what he wants to do, aided by the flickering light of the Kernel following close behind. “Don't worry little buddy, I know just what I'm going to do with you!” It simply continues flickering as it follows him down into the antique shop like some glowing, flashing, enamored floating puppy. Once in the shot he runs over to a line of lamps along one wall and locates the one he wants. The light fixture has a deer skull as it's base, one of the antlers snapped off near the base, so it looks a little lopsided, but it's the first organic thing that could once vocalize that he could think of on the fly, and not only that: Deer skull, need he think beyond the awesome that is that?

His phone goes off, letting him know he;s got messages. He looks at them briefly then puts his phone away, the skull tucked under his arm. There is a hole in the forehead, but as far as he's concerned that will make the sprite look even more awesome so he doesn't feel put out by it. He knows Andi needs some processing time and since he already knows most of what she's saying and he can't really give her any real input he lets her do her thing. Other messages pop up but he ignores them for now, knowing he has little time left.

Smiling at the sprite he takes aim, then tosses the skull in. Covering his eyes as there is another bright flash of light he waits until it dies down before looking again. Letting out a happy little “Whoop!” he grins at the now prototyped ball and chuckles. The skull is now red, settled in the middle of the ball and looks totally badass as it's about the size of a cocker spanial. It's just a skull, no arms or legs or anything, yet, and if he recalls the picture of a fully realized sprite correctly they never get legs, but as it's been prototyped once he turns his attention to more important matters.

As he goes to head past the sprite to continue with his work however he stops dead, his eyes landing on exactly what he needs right now. A sweet ass weapon. Without hesitation he grabs the stepladder from the back room and sets it in the middle of the store. Hanging from the rafters is an antique scythe, and with the skull dude following him around Marcus knows that, of course he needs a scythe for a weapon! What else could there be?! 'Now I just need to figure out how to work this “Strife deck” th-' His thoughts are cut short as the scythe vanishes, a green card appearing before him with an image of the bladed weapon on it for a few seconds before the card fades. “Okay, cool, that works.”

Pulling out his phone as he runs upstairs he types in the group chat quickly.

StithisGroup: I just figured out this weapon thing. Hold the desired, and think “Strife”. It should get put on a card. And thanks for the lowdown Bubbles. I'll respond more later, I only got about seven minutes before I'm a smoking crater, so, laters dudes!

Putting his phone back he snatches up his Pre-punched card and slides over to the lathe. Slipping it in the side he climbs the Cruxtruder and pulls the dowel out of the pipe. The red is really a rather attractive shade and in the back of his mind Marcus wonders if the game somehow knew he would like the color. However, at the forefront of his mind he notes that he has only six minutes left. Hurrying over to the lathe he puts the dowel in, smacking the green light on the side when it lights up. He notes that there are 2 other buttons above the green one while the lathe does it's work. One with && on it, the other with || on it. Shrugging it off for now he snatches up the totem and runs over to his Alchemiter and placed it on the small pedestal.

The large mechanical arm almost smacks him in it's enthusiasm to scan the totem but he manages to duck in time. “Geeze, need a warning sign much?” he murmurs, watching as a green light on the big button on the side lights up. Once more, there are two other buttons, one and up arrow, the other a down arrow, with a little display above it with a 1 on it. He doesn't have time to analyze it right now however and instead smacks the lit button and with a sharp pop, a big red book like thing appears. It opens to reveal it's one of those old fashioned disc holders, the ones where the discs are kept in sleeves. There are many disc and while he's wondering if he has to pick one – worrying greatly if it's possible to pick the wrong disc, one of the disks pops out all on it's own and the book disappears.

Staring at it for a second he takes a slow shuddering breath before glancing at his Cruxtruder. “Three minutes. . .” His voice is soft, and a little scared. With slightly trembling fingers he pulls out his phone once more and types up a message in the group chat.

StithisGroup: Hey guys. I'm about to head in, whatever that means. I'm not sure where things will go from here, but I hope you guys the best of luck. If I don't get to speak to you again for a while, just know I will be doing my best to beat this game and do. . . Whatever it is we're about to do. I thinks it's a good thing. I hope it's a good thing. I'm pretty sure I'll still be able to contact Bubbles, as I'm her host, but nothing is really sure right now, so. . .See you all on the other side!

Putting his phone away he picks up the disc, his hands notably steadier since he got to say his piece to his fellow players. Taking a deep breath he stares at the oversize d disc for a moment longer, the sound of crashing going on outside his house now very audible, and then with a steely look, he snaps the sucker in half like an angry gamer.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: You can hear a kind of commotion outside. It seems that something is causing a disturbance and you can hear shouts and some screams. Through the window can be seen meteors every so often, falling to earth, but there aren't that many yet, but it is clear people are getting worried.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: He gets a slue of messages while running around the felicity, picking up anything he can get his hands on he thinks will be useful and tasteful in his alchemic endeavors. Many of his classmates have taken one look at his Kernel and fled in fear, but as he really doesn't care at this point about keeping up appearances he ignores them. He's had to run back to his room several times to drop things off, his weak arms making it less than a breeze to carry more than a few pounds of stuff at a time, but in the midst of it all he'd managed to accept the invite to the group chat. As much as he's although to admit it, he will be needing their aid in this endeavor. As the messages all pour in at once however he lets out an exasperated sigh and reads them all carefully.

Not really caring about the updates from the one Baker, and already knowing all about what his host has stated he ignores them for now and instead decides to address the one called Stithis.

Fire LordGroup: Thank you for the advice Stithis. This will make the job of retrieving weapons for my arsenal a bit easier.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Timothy gave a satisfied nod seeing that Stithis got his items. But they were still in a rush. He quickly hopped up, grabbing his phone off the coffee table and adding the Pesterchum there. Now he could be mobile- in regards to moving about to do what was necessary. He didn’t get far though. His host had sent him a message that made his eyes go wide.

BakerSkip: No way! It can’t be happening already??! I’m going, I’m going! Get your Host to get your stuff too! We can’t break this cycle!

Now he was in even more of a rush.

BakerStithis: It’s already starting! My host just saw a meteor hit not too far from them! We need to make a move, quick!

First was the Cruxtruder. He hurried down the steps of his apartment floor, barely managing to slip his shoes on. The bottom floor was fortunately his bakery. Fortunately the shop was closed and he didn’t have to worry about anyone coming around, nonetheless he still closed the blinds. It wasn’t hard to spot the contraption behind the counter. He rushed behind it, grabbing a metal rolling pin off a counter. “Skip opened it already. Great.” The colors made him step back and wait. The last thing he needed was to be blind while the world ended around him. When it ended with a flashing blue light, once again he was back in front of it. “Ahhh, what’s next, what’s next…”

The sound of car alarms and the faint quake of the earth told the male that time was ticking. He didn’t even go peek to see how close the meteor had hit. “The vocal thing! Crap…” He didn’t have anything that was vocal. Not even a radio! “Crap, crap, crap…” He paused in his tracks. He had a pet...Well, a stray cat, but he came around all the time. He couldn’t use his Zorro! That was-

Another message.

This time a group message. He paced as he read. “Have to get the sprite thing. Have to make a-” He looked at the card in his pocket. “-a muffin.”

BakerGroup: On it now! I’m grabbing the vocal thing now. Though it’s so...cruel.

He opened the door to the shop and looked around. “Zorrooo! Oh, Zorrooo?” As if on cue, a one eyed gray cat ran inside, eager to be fed. “Oh you’re such a cute thing. I’m so, so sorry.” He grabbed a small bowl and poured some milk inside. If he was going to do this, Zorro was going to at least be happy. He checked the time. Fifteen minutes. All Timothy could do was whine in frustration and anxiety. At least while he let Zorro drink, he could rush upstairs to make the muffin- which was right across from them. “Almost done...I still have a little time.”

BakerGroup: How are you guys doing? I’m almost done! There’s still a little time left for me and I’m kind of still on the Sprite part. It seems really cruel. Especially to a living animal…

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Another message comes in while he's typing and he rolls his eyes. “Yes, we need a moment by moment update on your life choices, how useful. . .” Letting out a sigh James clips his phone back on his belt and heads out for one last item. He saved it for last as he knows he may have to dodge a few teachers in order to get it. Making his way to the cultural center on the other side from the dorms he sneaks slowly inside, making sure that no one is around before slipping in with his rather flashy counterpart.

Once inside he heads right over to the section on Asia and grins up at the impressive samurai blade inside it's glass case. Every lord needs his sword, right? Quickly scoping out his exit he picks up a heavyish statue from a nearby pedestal and with the best swing he can manage smashes the box open. The alarms sound all at once, but by the time the teachers show up he's long gone, the blade safely tucked away in his Strife Deck. Once back in his room he smiles and pulls up his deck and grins at his weapons. He only has two so far, a book on dragons taking up the other card, but he feels satisfied with it. “Now, on to you. . . .” he mutters, looking at his Kernel. With a sigh he moves over to the window, opening it and looking down at the still rather fresh dead bird and shudders.

As he reaches for it however, an idea comes to mind. Pulling scissors and an ace bandage out of his desk he sets them aside before bringing the bird and placing it down next to them. He is rather grossed out, but he wants to test his theory. Very carefully he cuts the bandage so it's not the same width as the bird itself, cutting off a long enough strip to work with before tucking the scissors under the bird's wing and bandaging it all together. As soon as he's satisfied the young man grabs the bird - a little less grossed out now that it's half concealed in bandages – and tosses it into the Kernel. It flashes brightly and he covers his eyes. Once it's done however and he looks back at it he lets out a rather wicked sounding laugh. The head of the hummingbird is now almost as big as the Kernel itself, and the scissors appear to be open and resting like crossbones behind the bird's orange head.

Feeling he must share his triumph James sits down and begins typing up a message for the group chat.

Fire LordGroup: I have just discovered the most fascinating thing about the sprites, and I feel I must enlighten you all to my brilliance. I was wondering if the sprite could be weaponized in some way and while I am sure that even without this revelation of mine the sprites would be okay, I think that this makes everything just that much more amazing. By strapping something, say scissors as in my case, to the intended item, in my case a bird, you can put both in and it will count as one prototyping! This means that, with the second one, I can insert a bundle of items and further my sprite's awesomeness. So, if any find this useful, good, if not, at least I've said my piece.

He reads the messages he's missed and smiles as he notes that someone has entered the game already. He doesn't feel bad though, a little put out that he wasn't first, but as he's already got everything he needs, he knows that his entrance is imminent. The faster he can leave this world, the better.

Standing, he makes his way over to the Cruxtruder and climbs carefully up on the base. He still has plenty of time, but he sees no point in staying any longer. He has a nice selection of items, and once the game gets started, he can begin venting his anger on the enemies they are sure to face. Pulling out the dowel he slips down off the device and makes his way over to his desk. With a hum he picks up his Pre-punched card, the image all orange and looking like a ball of some sort. Shrugging he takes both over to the lathe and lets it do it's work. Once the totem is ready he runs through a mental list of all the things he may need for this and with one final nod he decides it's time.

Placing the totem he activates the Alchemiter and waits. When the item appears however he falls back in shock. On the platform has appeared a perfect orange replica of his father, and in his hands is not a ball at all, it's a mirror. A perfectly round mirror. Swallowing hard James stands, glaring at the static figure as his heart tries to jump out of his chest. As he rises however he can see it, his face reflected in the orange crystal like flat surface of the mirror, and with a yell he punches it as hard as he can. The image, and the mirror holding it, shatters, and James is enveloped in a blinding white light.

BubblegumcAndi: Stithis added some information about weapons, and also that he only had 7 minutes. That was disconcerting. Bubbles replies a quick thanks, and then begins to look around for some sort of weapon to use. She needs to have something by the time she enters the game. Rereading that section of the manual, she remembers that she is going to have to be careful, because once the card is used, only items like that can go on there in the future.

Fortunately, looking around the props and equipment in the studio isn’t quite as difficult, since most of her peers are or already have left. If the sight of the meteors didn’t scare them away, the enlarged room, new machines, and blue floating orb around Andi was generally enough to do the trick. One of the guys, a nicer fellow named Luke, asked what he could do to help. He seemed to gather that Andi was more in-the-know, or at least had more going on at the moment than the others. Andi felt a little bad for brushing him off, but it was for the best. She told him to get out, and that she would be fine. She was a little tempted to follow him out, and just leave this building to become ruins, but she had already started a group chat, and she needed the equipment to help them succeed. She wasn’t going to let down the team.

Now mostly alone, Andi decides to tackle the matter of the orb thing first. She needs to combine it with some object that can or could vocalize. She goes upstairs to her teacher’s office, the area now void of people. She lifts the snake gently out of the tank and drapes it over her shoulders when she gets another group message. This one is from Baker, who seems to have a similar difficulty with a living creature.

Andi gets downstairs and then responds, laying the snake on one of the computer tables for now.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: It seems cruel, but whatever animal you have wouldn’t live through the meteor attack anyway. Try to think of it like you are giving it a new kind of life…

She hopes that her message helps, but she doesn’t know what else to say to coax this guy into doing the hard stuff. Firelord responds a short while later with the fact that strapping something to the creature will be accepted as one thing, as long as it is attached. She looks at the snake, and the hat that is strapped to the top of his head. Her professor loved his hats, and today George is wearing a sombrero. She could replace it with the top hat or even the birthday hat for special occasions, but George looks content, and she doesn’t want to take that away from him.

She picks up the snake slowly and turns to face the glowing light. “Sorry George. I hope this doesn’t hurt.” She says softly, stroking its back before putting him into the kernel.

With that task done, Andi goes back to finding some sort of weapon. It’s the last thing she needs, and she is running out of time. She picks out a few things that might work. First, the airbrush tools, which she can convert into some sort of projectile. Or she could fill it with something more dangerous, like pepper spray. But the airbrush only works when it is plugged in, and that won’t be helpful in the long run. So she needs something easier. She finds a bow in the makeup area, in the fantasy section, but there aren’t many arrows, and she doesn’t think she is terribly good. Putting that to the side for now, she finds numerous blades, but most of them aren’t sharp, since they are just for show.

She comes across a box of lighters, and an idea comes to mind. While Andi doesn’t feel like she would ever really want to set someone on fire, it would be a good way to keep people…or things…back. She grabs the lighters and a few extra cans of hairspray, shoving them in her bag. Since she doesn’t know what she will still have when she enters the game, she grabs some scissors and blades as well, wrapping them up. She takes whatever she can think of, including two bottles of water from the fridge upstairs. As the load begins to get heavy, she remembers the cards she has to hold these items and chuckles.

For now, she summons her Chapalog deck and puts her entire backpack into it, keeping the flamethrower materials out so she can put them together. She fabricates a quick lever, using the template for sci-fi guns, and has the aerosol weapon functional in about ten minutes. It is good since she doesn’t have a whole lot more time than that. The weapon goes in her strife deck, and then she does another quick lap to make sure that she doesn’t need anything else. When she feels pretty good, she checks her phone once more, and messages the group.

BubblegumcAndi -> Group: I am going in. Haven’t heard from Stithis since he entered. Good luck all. Please get this chain closed.

She looks at her computer one more time to check on Fire Lord, and sees him still standing in his room, looking out his window. It is dark outside, and while she thought it was still day for him, she can’t be sure of the time difference, and chalks the weirdness up to that. With everything else done, she takes the aquamarine daisy she made with the equipment, and pulls off a single petal. I will live through this… She thinks to herself, the natural follow up statement coming to mind instead of wondering whether some man has affections towards her. She is enveloped in a white light, and closes her eyes tightly for a few moments before she dares to open them again.

Baker: Timothy had returned to the workspace to see Zorro lounging as usual. “Oh, I’m so sorry. Just know I do think you’re a fantastic cat and the coolest one eyed one I’ve ever seen.” He didn’t even realize the floating ball of light that was hovering nearby. The cat had no clue what Tim is doing, but he accepts being picked up, nonetheless because it usually meant food was near. There was a confused mewing sound as Tim set Zorro inside. The sound of hissing died down as the flashing lights fade. When Tim opened his eyes, that dark blue ball of light was hovering next to him. Oddly enough, it looked like Zorro’s head, with scar and all- just blue. In fact, the orb was pretty much a cat.

“This game is so creepy…” He peeked inside the Crux, but didn’t see his stray cat. Maybe this orb was is cat. He remembered reading something about a sprite… “Come on, we don’t have that much time!” Tim was now running to the dining area. Thankfully everything was close- relatively speaking. He needed to get the card into the totem and then he needed to get to the Alchemiter, however he stopped to check his messages.

A weapon?! He couldn’t fight! Once more, he was running back into his workspace. What could be useful as a weapon in a kitchen?! “Oh, duh.” Tim opened the drawer of knives and hesitated. Could he really stab someone? No of course he couldn’t. He was too kind-hearted. But he did need something to protect himself with. Turning, he looked at the metal rolling pin he used. It was expensive- really sturdy. He supposed that would work… Still he wasn’t fond of the idea of fighting. Then again, it probably would be best to take his kitchen knife too. ’Strife?’ The items disappeared onto cards.

Before he left, he remembered to grab one of those colorful pipes in the Cruxtruder. Thank goodness for good memory. Back next to the Totem Lathe he followed the instructions, putting the dowel inside. In the process, he picked up the totem lathe and placed it in the same area as the Alchemiter. That saved him a lot of walking- unless he had to run back downstairs to the Cruxtruder. It took him a second to get the mechanism to work, but he when he managed it, a blue oven was created. This thing had a knack for making everything his favorite color. Was that on purpose? He then collected the muffin that popped out of it. It was the item on his card. "This game is weird..."

BakerGroup: Heading in now. Godspeed to all of us.

He didn’t trust eating the creation, so he tried breaking off a piece of it however it wouldn't let him. "Huh?" It was soft and supposedly edible, why couldn't he break it? With a deep sigh, he decided to take the risk of a poisonous muffin and bit into it. Well, that worked- and it didn't taste too bad. His hand went over his eyes as a sudden bright light engulfed him. “What have I gotten myself into…”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: When at last the light fades Marcus opens his eyes and looks around. His house looks basically the same except the light outside his house is no longer red and angry. Instead it seems kinda like a cloudy day, but instead of going to check, he looks at the words that flash before his eyes. 'Land of Wires and Steam' they read, and he blinks a few times trying to process them. “Land of Wires and Steam, what the heck?” He speaks softly, looking about slowly. He quickly spots his Kernel which seems to be doing something weird. It wriggles and flashes and then without a sound two additional orbs seems to tear themselves away from the Kernel, identical in every way but the color. One appears to be pure black, while the other is pure white. The black one flies out the window while the white one vanishes through the roof. He flinches as the black one shatters the glass and is grateful that the white one doesn't leave a trace.

“Well, thank god for small favors. . .” he murmurs, looking as his Kernel morphs into a sprite. Still in his favorite shade of red it now looks basically like a ghost with a deer skull for a head. Noting that it doesn't have any arms he makes note of the fact and begins planning on getting him some with his second prototyping. His phone goes off again and he finally gives it a look, his feet still firmly planted on the Alchemiter as he tries to get he bearings. He sees that Fire Lord followed him in, and that Baker and Bubbles are both working on it. With a sharp nod he smiles, putting it away without responding. “Might as well find something useful out before contacting them. . .” he muses, finally managing to get off the large equipment and move around his apartment.

Flicking on and off his lights he notes they still work and he sighs. “Well, one good thing I suppose.” Still rather dazed that all of this is real he wanders a bit aimlessly, winding up near one of his windows. As he gazes out, all he can see is fog. “Thick stuff. . .I can't even see the ground. . .Wait, not fog. . .Steam.” His eyes widen a bit but he's startled out of his musing by two pings in rapid succession. Pulling out his phone he notes that Bubbles and Baker have both entered the game. He quickly types out a message.

StithisGroup: I got in all right. Sprite did a weird thing, let me know if you guys' do odd things too. Electricity still works and pay attention to the words that pop up. They seem to be a clue. My land is the Land of Wires and Steam. There's a crap ton of steam out there, and I think my apartment is getting a little warm. I'ma flick on the AC.

Moving over to his AC he does exactly that before sitting down at his desk to check on Bubbles.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Hey chika, let me know if you need anything. I think it said something about there being new equipment eventually, so let me know if you want me to drop you anything. Good luck girl.

As he does so however, he gets a message from, of all people, Sandro, the guy who wrote the Game Bro Guide to SBURB. Pulling it up he finds the guide in digital form, along with an update. “Well, this is. . . .Odd, but then again, what hasn't been odd today?” Keeping half an eye on Bubbles he begins reading the new information.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: The light eventually fades, but James is still quite upset at the cruel joke the game decided to play on him. “Making my father, of all things. . .Bastard. . .” With a huff he looks around, hoping there will be something to kill right away. However all he spots is his Kernel doing something strange. He watches as the thing splits into three part, the white one floating gently out of sight while the black one smashes through a window and vanishes in a general downward direction. He scowls at the broken window, the sight not enhancing your mood any. His phone and computer both go off and instead of looking he ignores both and press your face to the window pane next to the broken one as words appear before his eyes. 'Land of Swings and Blood' The words drift there for a moment before vanishing and he gets a good look at what's outside his house.

His house seems to be settled in the middle of a large red lake on an island. He can't see the far shore, and he shares his island with a giant tree. The tree seems to have several chains hanging from it which, upon further inspection seem to have broken bits of things dangling from them. He makes not of all this before stepping away from his window and sitting down on the edge of the Alchemiter and resting his head in his hands. “I did it. . . .I got away from it all. I am. . .Somewhere else. No more familial obligations. No more long nights spent crying over my father's foolishness. . .None of it. . .” He doesn't bother to worry about the fact that he will likely still have to keep his secret around his fellow players since he plans on spending as much time as he can NOT communicating with them, or at least not in person.

'Speaking of' He muses, pulling out his phone. He reads through all the postings and scoffs at Baker. Then he shakes his head. “No, I don't need to be that way any more. It was not silly to fear for the animal. . .” With a sigh he leaves a message.

Fire LordGroup: I am in the game. 'Land of Swings and Blood' for me. Seems a little grim, but I will manage. I am going to find something to kill.

With that he looks over at his Sprite, the scissors now strapped to the ghosty bird's side like a katana in an obi, the bird's wings buzzing softly as they beat, his head tilting this way and that as it looks at him. “You need hands. . .” he murmurs and the bird lets out a string of cheeps. He sighs. “Looks like you'll need your second proto-typeing before you can talk, huh?” it chirps again and he nods, going to his large pile of junk to find something suitable. His phone goes off as he's doing this and he winds up simply laying on the pile as he reads the newest Update from Sandro.

GM → BubblegumcAndi: When the light fades you are in the same place as before, the flower gone along with the flower box that had appeared with it. The view outside your window has changed dramatically, many hills and a stream can be seen from the nearest one. BubblegumcAndi: Andi gets the group message soon after she enters the game. Her own sprite has split, with the black and white flying off quickly. George stays, though she notices that he looks…a bit different, with his tail fading into a blue smoke, like a genie. It seems that Stithis’ sprite did something similar a few moments before. She begins to type a message back when she gets another one from Stithis, a private one, checking in on her.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: My Sprite did the same. Land of Light and Paint for me. I wonder if it has to do with my job…

Since she works in painting make-ups, and they are photographed upstairs, it makes sense to her that she would start in some sort of twisted version of that. After she writes the message, she takes some time to read the new information sent to her from the game, as well as Fire Lord’s message that he is in the Land of Swings and Blood. Creepy. That is…much creepier than her land, or Stithis’. Maybe she was wrong about the location having something in common with her. Or Fire Lord is more off-center than she had realized.

After browsing through the beginning of the information, Andi takes a break to learn a bit more about her new surroundings. Remembering the blurb about low-level imps, she gets her gun from her strife deck, and carries it in her hand as she leaves the computer lab. She is a bit surprised to be in the studio at all, but it is a grateful sort of surprise. At least she has some sort of familiar surroundings. It is eerily quiet, though, without the sound of traffic outside, and machinery whirring.

Andi walks around the sculpture tables, looking beneath them, and making sure to look up as well. She has seen Gremlins, and doesn’t know if these things can climb. It is different, going through this in real life, rather than in a game. The biggest difference for her immediately is the quiet. There is no music to cue her that there is going to be some sort of battle, and her own breathing sounds deafening. She sees…or rather hears, the first imp in the accessory room. There is a crashing noise as one racks falls, and Andi steps in the doorway to see two imps, one looks a bit like a bird, wearing a Mexican poncho and the other looks like a cat sporting a rather odd looking mustache. The second one has also seemed to find a bright pink boa.

“Hey, I really don’t want to have to kill you…” She takes a step back, but I need to in order to get through this game. She thinks.

The one in the poncho runs, or more so waddles, towards her, and Andi jumps back and yelps. She takes a few steps back, waiting until the imps have cleared the accessory room—because the last thing she needs is all of that catching on fire—and presses the trigger once more. The flames don’t go quite as far as she expected, but the poncho catches fire, and the imp turns and runs the other direction, waving its arms a bit before it explodes, and some gems are lying on the floor in its place. The other imp wasn’t close enough to get caught on fire, and it has run under one of the tables.

Andi bends down and gets the imp just before it reaches her. When it, too, pops, she takes a few moments to look around and listen for other potential imps. With nothing else close by, she reaches out to the coins, touching them before they disappear. After clearing the workroom, Andi sits on one of the tables facing the closed doors, weapon beside her, and pulls up the update, reading through the Grist thing again. Then she sends a message to the group.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: Killed two imps. I think they have some qualities of our sprites. They looked a bit like animals, and one looked…Mexican. For reference, my sprite is a snake wearing a Mexican sombrero, because I couldn’t make George part with it.

The door creaks open, and Andi is suddenly glad that they never put WD-40 on the thing. She grabs her can, and pulls her legs up so they aren’t dangling as an imp rushes in with scissors. It is dispatched with more fire and another ‘pop,’ and Andi gets the Grist before typing another quick message.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: Fire Lord’s plan about taping scissors was well and good, but the imp I just killed looked like Edward HISS-orhands.

With the message sent, she resigns to go take a look around upstairs—assuming that upstairs came with her. She slips her phone in her pocket, and then goes to the door, opening it slowly to peek outside before she continues.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: The light faded and Tim rubbed his eyes to adjust. “All that just to be in the same spot?” He turned in a full circle, seeing that his living room looked exactly the same. Simple and tidy. “What was that even- whoa.” He made his way to the nearest window, staring at the huge wall that looked endless on both sides. “Okay so maybe I’m not home…” There was nothing but sky and a huge wall. “Land of Rain and Thought? What’s that supposed to mean?” A sudden flashing made him glance over at the sprite floating near him. “What’s wrong?” Instead of an answer, the sprite split in three. Black, white, and blue. Only the blue one stayed, in fact the blue one had a more ghostly shape. “Zorro you’re a ghost cat?” He only received a mew. “Hmm, there was something about prototypes. I have to find that manual.”

Conveniently, his phone ‘pinged’ with a message. “Oh. The manual great.” He realized he had other messages too. A sigh of relief washed over him when he realized the others were okay. The others had similar things happen to them too.

BakerGroup: I made it too. My sprite split into three, have no idea what that’s about. I got Land of Rain and Thought.

He assumed everyone was out exploring the “new world’ of theirs. He thought that was a terrible idea. Finding trouble? No way… But he was sure he’d probably have to do some sort of searching in order to get out of the game. He just hoped it didn’t require him to kill things. Which reminded him,

BakerStithis: Hey, let me know if you need something okay? I’m still going over things, but I’ll try to help out.

He wandered his house, skimming through the guide. “Better to understand some of this stuff before I even attempt to go outside…And I should check my shop.” Maybe he’d find clues if he looked around enough...in the safety of his home...Sort of home.

Selendri: The young woman was still not entirely sure that someone had not slipped something very dangerous into her drink at the bar last night. Nor was she sure that she was not dreaming, or that there was not some reasonable explanation for all of this madness. But as she inspected the machines, running her fingers across the cold metal, she had to admit that this was, at a minimum, the most vivid dream or hallucination she could imagine.

After a few moments of quietly amazed inspection, Sophia heard the notification beep on her computer, and flew back to the screen, assuming it was just Fire Lord being a slight prick again. Instead, it was a different friend who had apparently just installed the game. She barely knew the guy, but they had done some decent multi-player matches before, and hosting anyone seemed fun right now. So, she quickly replied to the message.

SelendriSkip: Sure. Um… how much have you heard about this game, by the way?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: “Finally!” Laurra shouts to herself, setting her pistol aside and pulling the laptop closer. She’d been polishing it as she waited for someone to agree to host her, the raging fireballs falling from the sky outside the window doing nothing for her nerves.

SkipSelendri: I’ve heard plenty, now, if it’s not too much of a bother, I have fireballs raining from the sky over here and would like it very much to survive this apocalypse. Now, if you please. User name Skip, obviously.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: SelendriSkip: … Meteors?! And your concern is a freaking game?! Shouldn’t you be getting to safety or something?

Shrugging, Sophia inserted the second disk, installing the host program. In two minutes, she was sending the invite to this stranger, offering to host him.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra rolls her eyes at the message, pressing ‘Y’ when the prompt for accepting a host pops.

SkipSelendri: Yeah, meteors, they are part of the game genius, and guess what, you got one with your name on it too I’m sure! Now drop me my machines so I can get to work!

_+_+_+_+_+_

SelendriSkip: ... There’s no way… But all right, give me a sec.

But even as Sophia typed that, she looked at the machines around her, the same machines that she thought could not possibly come from a game either. She bit her thumb, just hard enough to hurt. “There’s no way this shit is real,” she muttered, even as she felt the digit throbbing with pain. Fortuitously, she had received the exact instructions needed from Bubble, and she quickly jumped into action.

Moments after the invitation was accepted, Skip’s hotel room materialized onto her screen. She noted a large bed, and a woman dressed in a skintight black bodysuit, a black leather cutoff jacket, and fiery red hair. She looked almost like a stereotypical hit woman, not that Sophia was going to point that out at a time like this. Noting the gun on the desk, she wondered vaguely if her assumption was somehow right.

Looking at her interface, she navigated to the drop-down menu in the corner and quickly deployed Skip’s Cruxtruder, Alchemiter, Totem Lathe, and the pre-punched card. The Cruxtruder was placed behind the desk. Noticing that the table was in the way of her placement, she quickly moved the table over to the wall, stacking the chairs neatly on top of it, and marveling at how well this interface worked. With the space she had acquired, she squeezed in the Alchemiter and the Totem Lathe, dropping the Pre-punched card on the desk.

SelendriSkip: I think it’s all deployed now. I moved the table for you.

Quickly, she pulled up her browser on her phone, checking the current news reports, and sure enough, there were reports of meteor sightings all over the world. “This is not so fun anymore…” she muttered, as news of a few scattered deaths started rolling in.

SelendriFire Lord: Sorry to keep you waiting, was starting my host setup. Looking for my hammer to open this thing now...

She typed to her own host quickly, and then stood and began searching in the closet for her toolbox. Soon enough she had found the tool she wanted, a particularly heavy hammer. As instructed, she hit the cap of the Cruxtruder’s pipe with all the strength she could muster. She was quite strong for her size, thanks to her job as a fireman, and so the pipe popped open, revealing the time left, 57 minutes to be exact.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Skip watches bemused as suddenly large things begin appearing in the room. She waits until the last one is placed before getting up and giving them a once over before going over to her computer and typing in a quick message to the group chat.

SkipGroup: Okay, I have Selendri on me. Seems this chain is complete. You fuckers better survive this. I don’t want this game killing me off just because one of you dicks got yourselves killed. This is all insane, and new, so yeah, don’t fuck up.

She’s completely given up on being polite now. She’s normally not so vulgar, but under the circumstances she’s understandably impatient. Picking up her phone she’s almost not surprised to see it automatically logged into the kid’s account. A string of group messages appear and she looks them over before shaking her head and getting to work. “We’ll just save the group hug team BS for later then, shall we?” she murmurs to herself, heading into the bathroom and pulling down the heavy metal shower curtain rod, tearing it from the walls with little difficulty. With rod in hand she heads over to the Cruxtruder and, running the directions through her head once more, she brings one of the heavy ends down hard on the lid of the pipe at the top.

Tossing the rod aside she waits for the flashing to stop, her eyes locked on the little display. When at last the numbers pop up she curses. “Ten fucking minutes. . .” Looking around the room she tried to find something, anything, that once had a voice but finding nothing she decides to do the weapon thing first. The royal purple Kernel follows her around the room as she picks up and places in her strife deck both her pistol and her sniper rifle. Glancing at the clock she curses and climbs atop the Cruxtruder to retrieve a dowel before finally looking at her card. She has to smirk at the picture displayed however, breaking her from her single minded actions for a few seconds to marvel in the games insights.

“Bullseye huh?” She chuckles at the picture, it’s color matching her Kernel’s color. Back on task she places the dowel where it belongs and inserts the card. In no time she has the totem, but she hesitates to place it on the Alchemiter. Looking over at her Kernel she once more looks around the room, even going so far as to look through the boy’s things before giving up with a sigh and putting the totem in place. Before she presses the button however she pauses. Her fingers hover over the button, now glowing green, and her hand goes to her chest. There, beneath her skin tight clothing, the firm press of metal reminds her she does have one thing.

Pulling the chain around her neck a locket slips out from beneath the pliant fabric and she stares at it for a good long minute. The silver device is rather plain and she’s unsure of whether or not she even wants to attempt using the object inside. “What the hell. . .” she murmurs after the minute is up, he choice made quite a bit easier as she feels the floor shudder beneath her feet forcing her to plant them a little further apart in order to keep them under her. With a sigh she pulls it open and gently lifts out the lock of red hair that matches her own from it and before she can stop herself tosses it into the Kernel. It flashes brightly and a moment later she stops breathing.

There, in the middle of the floating ball of light, is her little brother’s head. True, the head is about the size of a couple watermelon, but it is undoubtedly her dearest little brother who’d died years ago at the age of twelve. When she remembers to breathe again she smiles back at his grinning face then slaps her fingers down on the glowing green button. The Kernel float around behind her and she watches as a group of people appear on the Alchemiter with a flash. She’s confused at first, wondering where that bullseye is, then with a twitch she stops it. It’s hovering in front of one of the people people’s heads. The hesitates for half a second, her mind going to her brother’s watching eyes. Then looking at the time left on her Cruxtruder she lets out a long breath, pulls her pistol, and an instant later the bullseye shatters into a million pieces.

She has just enough time to thank her lucky stars that the person’s head - it looked to be a woman - did not follow suit before she is consumed in white light.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: James has just finished reading his new information when he receives another message in the group. Smirking at it he feels that he's gotten the coolest name thus far. Having read the new information he types a message to his host.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: Hello again. Good on you for getting into the game as well. I was wondering if, once I get the materials for it, you would be ever so kind as to drop me the new Host Equipments available? I would very much appreciate it if you would.

Letting out a soft sigh he begins once more hunting through his pile of items until at last he finds something suitable. One of his dorm mates had had a large collection of figurines, and among them had been a decent sized ninja complete with little utility belt and little ninja knives and throwing stars along with a small blade strapped horizontally across the back of it's belt. Looking over at his sprite he smiles wickedly. He'd wanted to see if he could convert the little things into people sized things at some point in the future, but as he looks at his sprite he knows that this is more worth it.

Making sure everything is strapped on tight he tosses the figurine at the sprite and with another bright flash it changes. The bird's head is now in a hood and it's upper body seems to have the ninja top complete with chain mail like mesh shirt. The utility pouch is attached to the opposite hip of the scissors, which are still there and huge, and most important of all, it has arms and hands now, along with still having the hummingbird wings. “To cool. . .” he murmurs, grinning happily.

Nintorisprite: "I think so as well."

Fire Lord: His eyes widen for a moment before his smile widens. “I am glad we can agree on that then. Now, let us go find something kill, shall we?” The sprite nods, somehow looking rather humanly calm and collected despite having a bird head. 'I think it has human eyes now, which is weird, but understandable I suppose. . .' As his hand lands on his doorknob he receives another ping from the group. Reading it quickly he pouts at it. “I wanted to be the first. . . .Well, at least I did the second proto-typing first. . .And I was the first to accessorize my sprite. . .” Letting out a sigh he messages the group back.

Fire LordGroup: I have finished my second proto-typeing. My sprite is now outfitted like a ninja, though is still has bird wings and head. . .I think it has human eyes too, which is creepy, but I am glad to report it now has arms to use it's weapons with. Very useful if I do say so myself. Congratulations on the first kill BubblegumcAndi. I am off to go do some killing myself now. Talk to you all later.

His phone pings again as he finishes typing and he has to giggle at the joke, his heart racing at the though of the imps actually being dangerous. Slipping out of the room he pulls his sword – his book not really weaponized yet – and begins stalking the halls. About fifty feet away the hall opens straight into the open evening air and he sees several imps slowly making their way down towards him. Nintorisprite floats along behind him as he stalks closer. Feeling very much like an action hero with his sidekick coming along for the ride he puffs up and lets out a shout, catching them off-guard. He takes down the small group, four in total, with Nintorisprite taking out the last one with a slash of it's small blade.

Breathing hard James places a hand over his chest, marveling at the fact that he feels invigorated rather than tired. He's not one for physical activity beyond his morning calisthenics to stay in shape, and a fight like this should have exhausted him. But instead he feels none of the wear from battle. Letting out a happy shout he punches the air and begins looking around for more imps in the surrounding rooms, Nintorisprite following along silently. He checks his phone as it pings again with a group message from Skip, but with a look of disgust he simply puts it back. “Such a vulgar person. . .Not worth my time.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: You may notice that physical tasks are easier than they used to be. Such as, jumping on to the table took very little effort compared to how it would have been normally. Outside your door you see no foes too near to you, but you can hear sounds of them in other parts of the building. You also hear, from the direction of the room you started in, the sound of large things being moved around. Georgesprite is following you around, his tongue flicking every so often.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: New messages pop up while he's reading and Marcus reads them all, making note of them before going back to reading the new information. He wants to make sure he understands it as well as one can without actually doing it before moving on to the next stage in the game. He can hear the imps downstairs in the shop but he ignores them for now. He'd locked his door at one point and he figures that other than climbing through the windows the weak, first level monsters will be unable to get into his apartment. He reads for a good long time before at last switching over to the chat to address everyone.

StithisGroup: Okay guys, I've read this a few times now, and I think I get it. Seems like we won't be able to meet up for a while so until then we gotta use this Host/Player thing to help one another out as much as we can while progressing with out own games. That being said, we all need to get those first few necessities in place. That being the Punch Designix and Grist Torrent. The sooner we get those things, the sooner we can actually begin outfitting ourselves to actually survive this madness. No time to stand on ceremony. You need something, ask for it, you get a request, don't get all huffy if you weren't asked nicely. I'm not accusing anyone of this, but I only know half of you and want to cover all my bases. Anyways, let's all stay in contact, frequently, and let's all be courteous, no spying on bathroom and changing times, got it? Good.

With a sigh he pulls up Bubbles' window and after checking her Grist Cache he places her Punch Designix beside a sculpting table near the Alchemiter. Seeing that she can not afford the CD yet he quickly sends her a message.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: I put your Designix down near your Alchemiter. I'll keep an eye on you, but I'm gonna go see if I can earn me some Grist too. Keep it up Chika and we'll have that nice Grist Torrent CD in no time!

Standing up he checks the new messages that pinged while he was typing. Rolling his eyes at Skip's words he scowls. He doesn't sound like himself. The next message however makes his eyes go a little wide.

That is your order of operations, don't forget it! As the first to enter, Stithis is your leader. He dies, you all fail, remember that! Other than that, good luck and watch your backs!

Stithis: “The world is going to hell, and no one is going to survive, so. . . .Who the hell is this guy!?” He wonders at what point this guy will bite it, since apparently everyone but the players will, and then he wonder how many other players made it in. Then he just shakes his head and prays that “Team Shenanigans is simply something he typed for fun, and not their official title. With a deep breath he pulls out his scythe, ready to take down some imps. Pulling up his phone he sends a personal reply to Baker before making his way over to his door.

StithisBaker: Once I get some materials for it, could you drop me my Punch Designix? Until then, you're gonna hafta suck it up my friend. I know you're not a violent guy, but please, don't just lay back and let these suckers eat you?

He doesn't know why he enters that last part about fighting for his life, but it just felt like the right thing to do.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: Sure thing on the equipment. Will do asap.

She doesn’t answer his group message about having the first kill. It feels…sort of wrong to think about, when she thinks too much about it. They are just imps. Created by your imagination. They aren’t…even real, necessarily. Andi hears the sounds of things being moved, and turns back towards the computer room, seeing new equipment has appeared near the sculpting tables. The next message from Sthitis appears and she pauses to read the group message and then her individual one.

She smiles as she sees that this time he has done the hard task of summarizing the most recent update to make sure that they have all they need. Now she doesn’t have to feel like the mother of the group. He explains that they each need two pieces of equipment to move on, and communication was key. In the individual message, he says that he has already deposited the Designix, which she had noticed a few moments before. She opens up the message again from the game about how much Grist she needs for the Grist Torrent, but the 100 doesn’t mean a lot since she doesn’t know how much she earned from her earlier kills.

Getting an idea, however, she goes over to the computer and looks at the James’ Grist cache. He has enough for the Designix, and he has enough for the Torrent CD as well. Only one of them needs the Grist Torrent CD, and she doesn’t think he will mind using some of his Grist on it.

Looking around his dorm room, she doesn’t see a lot of space for the Designix. She considers revising the room, making it bigger, but she realizes that will take build grist to do, and she doesn’t want to waste it. She quickly gets the Designix situated in his gigantic closet (which might actually be the size of her old apartment), and then purchases the Torrent CD as well.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: Got your Designix in the closet and you had enough for the Torrent CD, so now we can all share Grist. Keep it up!

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Got Fire Lord the CD, so we can focus on other things. Thanks for the Designix.

Hearing another noise outside of the room, Andi looks up from her computer and sighs. More imps have gotten in the studio. She glances over to Georgesprite, but he doesn’t seem to be too much help at the moment. Perhaps she needs to do a bit more with it—like Fire Lord.

Since she needs her equipment in the studio for that, Andi grabs her can and opens the door to the lab, seeing one of the imps crawling on the painting table. This time, they are a bit spread out, with three over there and two a bit closer by the entrance to the molding room. She uses the fire on the pair of them, and then grabs the crowbar nearby as she turns to see one of the imps rushing towards her. She smacks it in the head, but the thing is way too close for comfort when it pops.

The other two seem to be hesitating, which makes Andi a bit relieved—hoping that they will simply leave--but as she touches the Grist, the other two imps come at her again. She throws the crowbar, which missed—unsurprisingly. She turns to grab her makeshift flamethrower, but it smashes to the ground and breaks, eliciting a rather loud curse. Jumping over the table, Andi looks around for another weapon, and then as the first imp enters, she pushes her dragon-head mold off of the table and crushes it. She is pretty sure that her mold is ruined, but the imp is most certainly destroyed.

And that leaves just one. Andi looks around quickly, seeing a variety of things that might work, but before she can grab at anything, the mold that she had just dropped lifts up in the air and crushes the last imp. Andi breathes a sigh of relief and thanks Stithis, even though he can’t hear her. After assuring that she is clear of imps for now, Andi pulls out her phone and sends a quick message.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Thanks.

She spends a few minutes fixing up her flamethrower, vowing to store it in the card instead of letting it fall to the floor and shatter in the future, and then clears her studio once more of imps. She goes upstairs, killing four more who had been wandering about, and then grabs a few more things she might want to consider for weapons, bringing them back down to the studio. Remembering a costume idea she had tried a few months before, Andi goes into the accessories room and grabs a handful of items, dragging them back to the computer room, where she can keep an eye on Fire Lord and hopefully get some helpful tools.

Before she settles down, though, she gets a tin can of beads and places it by the door. Next time it opens and imps come in, she will know right away.

Baker: “Okay… So this Punch Designix and...this Grist Torrent.” Tim had sat down reading through the manual. There were a few pings, indicating he got messages, but he didn’t check them. There had been nothing in there about easy escapes of anything. They just had to go about getting these things listed in the manual. One by one. “Wonderful…” The sprite hovered a little closer as if to get his attention. So, Tim looked up and gave a questioning look. Somehow, through the silent communication, he managed to figure out the sprite wanted him to check his messages.

“Okay...updates from the group. I need to get you a prototype.” But what could he use to mix with the cat? “What else…” He merely sighed towards Skip’s vulgarities, and continued reading along. “Okay. Our new ‘team leader’.” Tim spoke out loud to himself in order to make mental notes of it, like when he mumbled names of orders from the bakery as he made them.

Stithis’ personal message came last and Tim frowned a bit. “Suck it up he says. Gee, I’m sorry for not being trained in the art of killing things.” Instead of saying that, he responded,

BakerStithis: Got it. Just let me know when you’ll need it. I’ll, yeah I’ll figure something out.

“Alright Zorro,” As he was going to keep calling the sprite. “we need to find you something to-” A loud noise downstairs made him jump up. The sound of dishes crashing made him rush to the door. “What on earth!?” Rushing downstairs, Tim reached for the nearest weapon, however just by a thought, the metal rolling pin appeared in his hand. To his surprise, imps littered his bakery. They were aimlessly ruining things. “Hey! Get out of here! You don’t know how hard I work to maintain this place!” There were six of them, all who turned their attention on the baker and sprite.

“Ohhh, no.” He planned to turn around, but the sprite seemed to block his path. It wanted him to fight too? With a groan, Tim swiveled around. Almost instantly, one leapt at him- and instinctively, Tim swung the rolling pin like a bat with as much force as he could. The imp went flying across the room and into the brick wall. The other three rushed at him and Tim panickly fought back- mostly just trying not to die- along with keeping them from going into his kitchen or up the stairs.

“It is off limits, go away!” Hitting the last one, Tim collected the gems that had fallen in the imps’ places. “...Well, that’s one thing. Um, again, back to this prototyping. Maybe you’ll be more useful if you can talk?” Going into the kitchen, Tim started to look around. However, before he did, he sent out a quick message.

BakerSkip: When you can, or I guess when I have the right items do you mind sending me my Punch Designix? I need it. Thanks!

He’d offer his assistance, but there was little he thought he could do for his host. He remembered the one called FireLord used weapons to prototype his sprite. Tim supposed that’d be useful, so he decided to find something suitable for the sprite. In one of the drawers there was a gun shaped decorating mechanism. Icing was supposed to be filled into it, however he replaced it with cleaning fluids. It may not have killed, but it would definitely slow the enemy down. (And if they drank it then they’d probably get sick.

“Okay buddy, now for the actual prototyping part. Well,” He looked at the cat. "You'll need to be able to hold this first..."

Fire Lord: Shoving his phone back into it's holster at his hip James makes his way into the first room at the end of the hall nearest the huge opening. He feels tempted to explore the world a little more, but after reading the update he's far more eager to begin playing with the alchemy mechanic. 'And for that, I need grist! And in order to get grist. . .' He grins as he finds a lone imp in the room, playing with some model planes. He takes it out before it spots him and he begins looking through the belongings of the once inhabitant trying to find anything useful to use when Alchemizing.

Looking down as his phone pings he pulls it up and looks at the message with a smile. 'She really is proving to be quite useful, and dare I say, competent?' Chuckling to himself he puts the phone away and begins digging under the bed. There seems to be a lot of things packed under there and he hopes at least one of them will be useful. Halfway through his digging however he gets another message. Peeking at it he flops back against the bed and types up a reply.

Fire LordBubblegumcAndi: My sincerest thanks. I will see about installing the disc as soon as I am able.

James isn't thrilled at the idea of having to share his hard earned grist, but he figures if he refuses he could turn all of them against him, and he'd rather avoid that if at all possible. 'If they all prove to be incompetent fools however, I will not hesitate to remove them. . .' His automated voice, the one he's grown used to listening to over the years of conditioning, rears it's ugly head again but he doesn't even really notice as a couple imps decide to stop by and hassle him. Nintorisprite takes one out without him having to lift a finger and he takes the other out swiftly before closing and locking to door to dissuade any more 'Visitors'. With a self satisfied nod he goes back to digging for goodies.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: The shop seems to be filled with little black buggers, the mix of animal parts and oddly human looking hair on some have him a little unnerved, but as he draws back his weapon the gamer in Marcus flares to life and he lets out a battle cry. In any other situation, he would feel foolish doing this, but as it is, it seems the right thing to do. 'And I'm partially right' he muses, watching as the imps all look around at him with startled expressions. He takes down three before they recover, their little black bodies exploding into the colorful “grist” gems. Stomping on a pile to pick them up he whirls on the spot and takes out the fourth. It's a real rush for him, being able to act out the “game” like this. Never really into LARPing, this is the first time he's ever been able to fight in real life without getting sent to detention.

Taking down the last one which had decided that it would rather hide in a corner than fight he chuckles to himself at the thought of all those LARPers in the part, throwing balled up paper and using foam swords to bop one another. Hearing his phone ping he hops up on to the counter and takes a seat, putting his weapon away so it's not sitting around awkwardly. Reading the message he nods happily. “Well that's good.” he murmurs, pulling up the SBURB window on his phone and seeking Bubbles out. It takes a moment, but when he finds her and he spots her fighting, he decides to just watch her for a little bit. 'It's good to get to know your teammates, right?' he reasons, watching her whip a crowbar across the room.

A moment later however he begins worrying as her weapon falls to the ground and breaks apart. “C'mon Bubbles, you can do it!” He knows she can't hear him, but he cheers for her none the less. Finally he can't take it however and whipping his finger across the screen he picks up the heavy thing she'd used on one imp and taking careful aim, he drops it atop the little black beast charging at her. Quickly rotating about the room he doesn't spot any more imps. He lets out a sigh of relief just as his Pesterchum pings and with a grin he centers on her before opening the chat. Reading the one word message he chuckles.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Anytime Chika.

Message sent, he hops down off the counter and pulls out his weapon once more. 'Even with the torrent, we'll need to build up the reserves, and fast. I've got the feeling that this slow beginning is building up to a rather quick advance system. . .not sure why I think that, but I trust my gamer instincts. . . .' Nodding to himself he takes out a few more waves if imps while prowling the shelves looking for something to proto-type his sprite a second time. Baker's message comes in the middle of the slaughter and he finishes off the batch before grabbing his phone and checking it. 'Really need a better system for this. . . Maybe I can make those computer shades I saw in the guide some time. . .' It's a few minutes before he can reply as a group of imps decide to tip over one of the displays at the very moment he finishes reading. When he has a second he gets off his reply he does so before heading for the stairs to his apartment.

StithisBaker: I should be able to afford the Designix now. Just put it in the living room or something. Thanks man, and hang in there!

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: The light fades and Laurra looks over at the image of her brother still floating in the ball of light. She wants to reach out, to touch it, but after a few seconds the ball flashes and pulsates. She watches with cool eyes as the ball becomes three balls, one disappearing through the ceiling while the other smashes it's way out through the window. A cool breeze drift into the room through the new hole but she doesn't even notice as the ball left behind morphs into what looks unmistakably like a cartoon ghost. She looks it over, wondering what to make of it, then pauses as once more she catches those eyes, now violet when they were once a pure, clear blue in life.

Reaching out she touches the sprite, a faint flicker of a smile crossing her lips as she finds she's actually able to touch it. Looking at him she murmurs softly, “Alexi?” Her heart skips a beat as the ghost thing nods. “Can, can you speak? Are you. . .” It shakes it's head and her heart falls. Then she recalls that he'll need a second proto-typeing. Looking at him sharply she asks, “If I put something else into you, will you be able to speak?” She gives an honest smile as he nods once more and with a sigh she finally lets her hand drop and looks at her surroundings. 'I know I need something else to put into him, but it can't be just anything. He's my brother. . .My dear little brother. . . .No, it must be just the right thing. . . '

The words 'Land of Stars and Ice' flash across her eyes as she looks towards the window and she snorts. “Such a pretty name. . . .I wonder it it's to make up for all the death the game just caused. . .” e phone pings along with the computer and with a growl she sits down to read all the BS she missed while trying to save her hide. She reads it all, taking down each word into her mental notebook before extracting what's important and giving them a little response for no particular reason.

SkipGroup: 'Land of Stars and Ice'. Thanks for the tips. See you when I see you.

Pulling up the window for her player she plans on closing it after making sure he's alive however her gaze lingers as she watches him fighting. Lacing her fingers together she settles her head upon them as she watches the show, interested in how the wuss she managed to torment with a book will survive the assault of a pack of the little creepy black things. She starts when she realizes that something about the imps are familiar. Looking over her shoulder her eyes trail down Alexi's hair for a moment before she looks back and confirms her suspicion. “Some of these buggers have your hair Alexi. Funny huh?”

He drifts closer, laughing silently as he nods. Her heart warms as she spots the laughing motion out of the corner of her eye. The fight is over rather quickly and she lets out a bored sigh, ready to close the window and begin hunting for suitable items. However as her cursor lands on the close button a message pops up from her player. Reading it over she checks his stores quickly before heading to his apartment and dumping the requested item in his bathroom. Not really caring about his convenience she figures he'll just have to make due until she has time to actually play with his house.

SkipBaker: Things in the bathroom. Way to take those suckers down. Keep it up and maybe one day I will stop thinking about you like one of those little dogs that always look about to piss themselves. . .Chihuahua, that's it. See if you can graduate from a chihuahua.

Message sent she stands once more and on impulse reaches out to touch her brother's shoulder. “Let's find you something good, huh Alexi?” He nods and smiles, and she can swear he has the same hero worshiping look in his eyes as he moves to follow her through the hotel room. Pulling out Hussie just in case any of those little black shits show up she opens the door to the parent's room and begins moving around it slowly, opening drawers and dragging out luggage so she can go through them after she's sure that there aren't any enemies around.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: “Says I have to put something into you. But you can’t use a weapon when you don’t have arms. That’s ridiculous.” Then again, what about this game wasn’t ridiculous at the moment? He was still hoping that this was some terrible dream and he’d wake up late to open the bakery. “What do I have with hands…” He worked his way to his bedroom and looked around. Spotting the Pusheen cat plush on the top of his closet, he first wondered where he got it. “Oh right, secret santas that one year.” The fat cat had a little baker hat on, and stubby arms. “I don’t think these arms will work.” He pulled up a desk chair and looked around the higher shelves. “Why don’t I have anything- oh!” He pulled out the Charmander plush further to the side. “Man, the memories of this…” He remembered not being busy all the time at one point in his life.

“This should work!” He hopped off the chair and grabbed the makeshift gun off the bed. “Let’s see. . .Put them together and-” He put the objects into the sprite and squinted as it flashed a bit. Instead of the floating ghost, the sprite looked more like a charmander with one eye and cat ears. That was interesting. It also charmander arms with kitty clawed fingers, and a row of little blue flames running down his bac which made the sprite look even cooler. Tim had used a broken lanyard to tie the plush and the gun together, so now it was strapped to the sprite's side. “Oh, I'm glad I used that to for the prototype. Now that that’s done…”

The ping of his phone made him check his messages. Stithis needed his Designix so, he dragged it around. He didn’t want one room to get too crowded, so he placed in in Stithis’ bedroom.

BakerStithis: It’s in your room and thanks!

Reading the message made Tim audibly go “Huh?” She could probably see the confusion on his face. “Skip is. . .interesting to say the least.”

BakerSkip: Odd place to put it, but thanks. And uhh. . .Thanks I think?

He wasn’t really sure how to react to some random person calling him a chihuahua. Grant it, he was a little insulted, but there was no time for that. Now he had to get the Grist Torrent, however to do that required him to fight more imps to get the jewels. Tim shuddered at the idea, but walked back down the steps. “I for one, still think it’s a terrible idea- all this fighting. What do you think?” He glanced over at the sprite still hovering about as he made his way back to his bakery. "Geez, I wonder if anyone else has to go through this much going up and down steps."

_+_+_+_+_+_

CharrospriteBaker: You're a nice guy, and I want to see you survive this, so I think that fighting is a great idea. Then maybe we can have some nibbles. . .I'm hungry.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Baker: Your phone pings. It's not someone you recognize, nor are they a part of your team.

_+_+_+_+_+_

UnyieldingAmore → Baker: Hey cutie! How you doing? You look a little ruffled. . .You should get that sprite of yours to give you a massage! He looks like he's got good hands for it, though those claws look like it could be more than a little rough. . .

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Tim paused and looked over at the sprite. “Did you just-” The baker shook his head. “Right, right. Once they’re prototyped they can- you can talk.” Really, he was going to have to stop being so surprised by these things. He was in some game for heaven’s sake! “You wouldn’t happen to know what Land of Rain and Thought means, sprite?” Before Charro could answer, his messages pinged. “Oh, hold on. I think someone needs something.”

Confusion crossed his face as he read the name. The message only helped to further confuse him too. “UnyieldingAmore? Never saw that name before. . .”

Baker → UnyieldingAmore: Thank you for the concern, but who are you? Sorry, I’ve never seen your name pop up before.

Tim looked over at Charro as if the sprite would know, but decided to wait for a message in return. Realizing he was called ‘cutie’, he gazed around the room, wondering if this random stranger could see him too- just like how Skip could see him.

_+_+_+_+_+_

UnyieldingAmore → Baker: Well of course you've never seen my name before. This is the first time that we've spoken! I've watched you though, and I thought you were just the cutest little thing, and I can relate to your unwillingness to fight. *Sighs* See, I'm a lover, not a fighter, but I had to learn to fight too. It was a real drag.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Well that didn’t help much. It only made him paranoid actually. How many people were watching him!?

Baker → UnyieldingAmore: Watching me?? You’re not my host though. And that didn’t exactly answer the who of my question. Are you another player? Or are you some part of the game too?

_+_+_+_+_+_

UnyieldingAmore → Baker: Oh, sorry, sorry, my name's Cakal, and no, I'm not a player. Well, not anymore anyways. I played a while back. It's been a sweep or so since I played. Me and some of the others decided to check you guys out. Kinda relive old times through watching you guys play. Got one here who's really interested in your player. . .But enough about that. You asked about me watching you. Yeah, one of my teammates set up this program on our chat system which lets us watch you guys. It's neat. You still look tense. You should really get that sprite to do some work on you. Mine was exceptionally good at massages.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: “Why would anyone want to come back to this game?” Wait, did this person say them and ‘the guys’? Meaning there were more people stalking the group they made? “Just when you think there couldn’t be anything else to surprise you. Then there’s spectators. Spectators not worried about the-” He quickly typed out his next message.

Baker → UnyieldingAmore: Wait a minute, you said you finished the game a while ago? So that means this game can be beaten? Does that mean that our actual world is fine? We’re not in threat of actual death are we?? ...And I’m sure you’re probably not going to spoil the ending of this game, but since you’ve been watching do you think you can tell me what I should do next?

Waiting for the next message, Tim leaned against the nearest wall. “. . .What’s with the massages?” He watched as Charro did a grabby motion with its clawed fingers. “Uh, no thank you.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

UnyieldingAmore → Baker: Yeah, it what a little while ago, and yeah, the game can be “beaten” though I'm not sure that's the right word. As for your world. . . .No, sorry, it's toast. . .More like cheese actually, The holey kind, but instead of holes, it's full of craters. And please, believe me when I say that yes, this game is about life and death. Alternia was decimated the same as your world, and you guys need to keep moving forward if you want to survive. You're right I can't give up the ending but I can say th-

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Baker: UnyieldingAmore seems to be offline.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Charrosprite: “He's right you know.” Charro lets out a soft mew and lick his paws before using them to clean his face. “Gotta keep moving.” He tilts his head this way and that. “I think the first step is more grist, then perhaps you should upgrade your weapon before you get stronger and more fierce beasts show up.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Tim eagerly opened the message. His face was crestfallen when he was told that not only his world had been destroyed, but he still had quite a high chance of death if he didn’t continue. That meant he was going to have to stop trying to find the easy way out of the game. He was going to have to get over his own morals and overall dislike for fighting if he wanted to survive. He had other questions! Like what was Alternia? But the message cut off. Tim frowned a bit when Amore was disconnected. “Figures…” He sighed and put his phone away. If there were more of Amore’s friends in the system, he was sure his group would be receiving messages from them at some point. There was no need to bother them while they were busy.

“I suppose you’re right. More of those jewels to get more items on the list.” He once again pulled his phone out to skim the manual. Once he was done, he headed back down the steps and opened the door of his bakery. The first thing he could see was the endless wall, next was just open space and various imps wandering about. “I suppose my kitchen- or the bakery kitchen would be best for a weapons upgrade…” The metal rolling pin appeared in his hand after he thought of it and with much regret Tim took a deep breath and yelled.

“Come and get me you freaks of nature!” Well, it didn’t take long for them to notice him, nor did it take long for them to start towards his bakery. “Alright Charro. The goal is to keep them downstairs and also out of the workspace.” As they came closer, he looked over at Charro. “Then when we finish, we’ll find you food.” Fortunately, only three came first so Tim didn't have to struggle with a crowd.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Reaching his apartment Stithis locks the door behind him, prowling about until he's sure there are no imps. 'Good. Locking doors actually accomplishes something. . . .' Letting out a sigh he hears his phone ping. Pulling it up he looks at the message and nods gratefully.

StithisBaker: Thanks man. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. I'm always here to talk to y'know.

Putting his phone away after checking on Bubbles again he goes into his bedroom to check out the Designix. It's a fairly simply machine, two buttons, a keyboard with all the letters and numbers they will need, and of course a slot for the cards along with instructions on how to insert the card properly. “Like a the check-out counter for using credit cards. . .” he murmurs, chuckling softly. This game really seems to make things as simple as possible when it comes to it's machines. Letting out a sigh he heads to the bathroom to relive himself before finally addressing the matter of his sprite. Walking around the thing a few times, it's empty eyes sockets following him as he does so, he wonders what exactly would actually make it more dangerous.

“I mean, you already look like death, except for the whole busted antler thing. . . .What could I add to make you even more awesome?” Walking around his apartment he hears the imps downstairs getting rowdy, but he ignores them. This is something very important, and he must give it long, hard thought, taking into account all the factors an- . . . .His gaze lands on one of his figurines and his eyes go wide. “Nooooo. . . . .” he hisses. “I couldn't. . . . .” Stalking over he picks up the figurine and simply stares at it for a long moment before turning around and looking at his sprite. He can feel his fingers itching to just toss it in, but then a thought occurs to him and he smiles.

Chapaloging the figurine he quickly grabs the card it's on and flips it over. 'I may want to use this in the future, for. . .Other things. . .' Smiling to himself he quickly writes down the code before calling the item back out and before he can question himself any further he tosses the figurine into the sprite.

Figurine - img03.deviantart.net/2c7c/i/2008/128/7..

The sprite flashes and pulsates, and moments later Marcus is staring up into a familiar face. His grin could not be wider. Where the skull had once been there is now the familiar face of Sephiroth, the antlers coming out from his hair – one still broken obviously – and the epic coat now hanging from his rather humanoid torso area. Marcus actually giggle happily at the sight of the six foot lone Masamune resting against it's side, and the single wing stretched out past his right shoulder is the icing on the cake. Looking closely he nodes the only other remnants of the deer that can be seen are the empty eyes and the hole in the forehead right at the bottom point of those radical bangs. “Sweet. . . .” he murmurs softly, earning a smirk from his sprite.

Sephillsprite: Looking himself over the sprite checks his blade before smiling down at Marcus. “I concur.”

Stithis: He has to suppress a fanboy squeal and simply nods, racing over to his computer to tell everyone about what he's done.

StithisGroup: THIS IS AWESOME! I just made the sweetest sprite ever! I just made a friggan Sephiroth sprite! One winged angel style, you know, the one with the single black wing, not the blue one, though of course he's all red, but who cares! WHOOP! He even likes the way he looks, which is just too sweet! What are you guys using? Hey, we should share pics!

Taking out his phone he snaps a shot of Sephillsprite and shares it in the chat before forcing himself to calm down and take a breath.

StithisGroup: Sorry guys, I just got over excited. I'm a huuuuge Sephiroth fan, and that six foot katana is legendary. I took down the figurine's card number so I can use stuff off of it some time later, so if you guys want anything off of him let me know and I'll send you the code. I got the feeling that you could actually make a REAL Masamune in this game if you worked it just right.

With a big grin on his face he looks over at his sprite and nods. “Ready for some action Sephi?” The sprite simply nods in response, drawing his sword with a smirk on his lips and once more Marcus has to stop himself from squealing. Pulling his own weapon he makes his way over to the door, determined to clear the shop a few more times before attempting to do any alchemizing.

Skip: Laurra doesn't bother responding to Baker's thanks, and instead hunts with all her might through everything in both rooms for anything that would be even slightly worthy of combining with her brother. However, after a good ten minutes she finds nothing should would even consider getting without a hundred miles of him. It's around the time she contemplates chucking the nearest chair out the window in frustration that another message comes through and she feels a faint flicker of hope. “Maybe I can. . . . .” she murmurs, quickly typing a message.

SkipGroup: Hey, is anyone here into artistic things? I need something specific for my sprite. Nothing around here even resembles something useful or even functional. . . . I need someone to draw or sculpt something. . . .

She bites her lip, knowing that cursing them out may have earned her some negative brownie points, but she hopes that at lease one of them is artistically inclined and doesn't already thing she's a douche. From behind she hears the sound of what she thinks are wind chimes, the small metal kind, and in an instant she's pulled her pistol and has it leveled at the sound. Before she can take aim however the figure is gone, leaving behind what looks like a punched card on the parent's bed. She approaches it with caution, staring at it for a long moment before picking it up gingerly. It's hard t see with the holes punched in it but aster staring at it for a long moment she recognizes the picture on it.

'It's that Punch Designix thing. . .' Glancing past the card she spots a small slip of notebook paper and curiously picks it up.

Thought you might need this,

Shenanigans

She stares at the name, recalling that the one, Sandro, had called them “Team Shenanigans”, and for a few seconds she wonders if this has anything to do with that. “Well, shenanigans or not, it seems we may have a little fairy looking over our shoulders. . .” Flipping the sheet over she notices a post script.

P.S.
I was warned that you'd likely shoot me when I showed up, so I didn't stick around. Sorry for not hanging around to chat!

Smirking she nods. “Yeah, I was ready to shoot anything that moved. . .” she chuckles, putting Hussie away. With her shiny new card she heads back into the kids room, moving over to the lathe and carving up a totem for the Designix, then chapalogs both items to keep them safe. Pulling out Hussie once more she smirks at Alexisprite. “Now we just need to do a a little hunting, right?” Alexisprite nods and her smirk widens. With that, she heads for the door that leads to the hall, the sounds coming from behind it indicating some sort of life lay beyond it. 'Get some of that grist crap, then we can come back and make that thing. . .' She knows she will need the Designix to actually make the thing she needs for Alexi if anyone actually agrees to help her out since it seems they can share items by sharing codes.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: With an armload of neat little things James returns to his own room, dumping them on the pile along with the things he's chapaloged for easy carrying. Letting out a sigh he goes back and locks his door before plopping down in front of his computer and letting out a sigh. Absentmindedly he puts the Grist Torrent CD into his computer's disc tray and after a few seconds the program is downloaded. He goes to pull the disc out only to find that it's vanished. “Oh good, a self cleaning disc. . . .” he mutters, looking over at the two discs for the game proper. Not sure what else to do with then he puts them back into the case they came in and puts them into his desk drawer.

Though things had become a lot easier, he's starting to feel the strain of the constant activity - taking break in his item hunting to fight more imps – and he wonders how sleeping works. 'I would rather it not be a necessity, but as I am beginning to tire, I think it may very well be about time for a kip' Letting out a sigh he looks at his computer as both it and his phone pings and groans softly. “So needy, these people. . .” Pulling up the messages he feels a wave of jealousy as Stithis speaks of having a sprite with the famous and historic Masamune blade, and without hesitation he types a message to the group.

Fire LordGroup: I have always had an avid fascination with Japan and it's history. Would you mind sending me the code for the figurine? I would very much like to try out making that sword. . .My own is nice, but I would still like to try.

Sitting back he reads the other messages and smiles.

Fire LordGroup: BubblegumcAndi is an artist. I have seen her work, It is fantastic. Maybe you should ask her?

James is satisfied with his own sprite, the ninja hummingbird awesome in it's own way, she he doesn't feel too crestfallen that he didn't think of asking BubblegumcAndi to do something special for him too, though he does mentally pout a bit. Sitting back in his chair he lets out a long yawn, gazing longingly at his bed, wondering if he should take a quick nap before “taking his Alchemiter out for a test drive” as they say.

_+_+_+_+_+_

CharrospriteBaker: The sprite joins the fray, taking out a decent amount of imps all on his own, assisting Tim when and where he needs it. His claws slice clean through the black carapace that comprises the imp's skin and his fire breath makes them explode one after another. He stays a bit away from Tim, wanting to give his partner a chance to fight, but not far enough that he can't darn in and help when needed. Every now and again he shouts out something supportive to his partner, adding in a thumbs up whenever Tim can see him. Eventually all the imps go down and Charro floats over to Tim and smiles cutely. “It will be a little while before more spawn. We have food now?” The tip of it's ghosty tail curls this way and that, much like the tail of a curious feline.

BubblegumcAndi: With the one door ‘alarmed’ and the other door closed, Andi takes a few minutes to organize herself. She fixes the hairspray gun, and uses a strife card to get it labeled as aerosolkind. She does the same with her crowbar, so she won’t lose them again. She tests a theory by throwing the crowbar across the room (away from the computers), and tries to see if she can use the strife card to call it back, and to her surprise, it works. That means she can keep throwing the crowbar, and keep getting it back—though it still isn’t the best weapon for ranged attacks. While she is getting situated, Andi keeps an eye on Fire Lord, making sure that he isn’t getting into more trouble than she can handle.

The fact that she was inclined to throw the crowbar tells her that she needs something more ranged. A bow and arrows would work great, and she makes a mental note to check out the prop closet. They should have something that actually shoots. Still, she opens the manual once more to see about creating things. If she could make her own bow and arrows, then she could attach all sorts of things to use for ammunition. Reviewing her updated instructions, Andi gets the impression that she needs something 3D to combine a sketch with. If she goes with a crossbow, they already have one in the prop closet, but it doesn’t fire. Then she would just need a sketch with her (working) modifications, and then to make a bolt.

The down side is that all of these steps will cost Grist, and she hasn’t killed that many imps. She goes to the prop closet to get the crossbow, seeing two different options that she grabs, and brings them both back to the workroom. There, she starts with the larger hand-held design and begins a sketch for what she wants it to look like.
Dream Crossbow

Andi decides that her sketch might be a little too adventurous for the moment, however, and sets it aside. What she really needs is something light and easy, like a wrist-mounted one. The other prop she had grabbed was for a wrist-mounted dagger, which was cool, but she preferred to keep things further away. In a few minutes, she had a solid, and yet simple, design for a wrist-mounted crossbow. This was one of the few times she felt like her study of monsters and villains was actually paying off.

With the sketch finished, Andi excitedly goes over to the machine and selects for the actual wrist-mounted tool to be dominant. She sets the machine to blend, and then hopes for the best of both of these things—and that she has enough grist for it to turn out.

Wrist Crossbow

The crossbow looks beautiful, the only thing missing is a bolt to test it out. It goes on her third strife card, bowkind, and then she is securing it on her left wrist. The bolt is easy, and she grabs a wooden dowel, drawing out what she wants the bolt to look like, and then goes through the process again. She isn’t sure how many times she will have to make bolts in order to refill the thing, but when she launches the first across the room to test it, she finds that the crossbow is already reloaded. fantastic!

Having written down the codes for the wrist-mounted crossbow and bolt, Andi sends a quick group message. She is one of the only people putting messages there, but she doesn’t let that bother her too much. They can ignore her all they want.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: I think we should make another chat to dump our neat codes. I made a wrist mounted crossbow (####) and bolt (####), and projectiles reload automatically. :)

After she sends the message she sees one she missed from Stithis about combining sprites. “Right… I need to do that, too.” She says aloud to herself. She had been so wrapped up in the cool weapon that she hadn’t gotten around to the second prototyping.

Stithis sends a message to the group about making an awesome sprite by combining it with a figurine. It is an interesting idea, and gives her another one. If the machine can read intention rather than composition, then she should be able to use some of her sketches, as well as her molds, to enhance her own.

With the weapon idea taken care of for the moment, Andi pulls out all of her sketches and begins to thumb through them, looking for the right one to combine with Georgesprite. She can’t just throw anything with it, and wants to stick with the reptilian look. “I can go with a hydra…or a dragon…or some sort of sea creature.” She muses aloud, looking at her best sketches. She doesn’t really feel the need for a huge blade, and wonders what sort of things she can build into the design. One of her hydra designs catches her eye. She was assigned proverbs, and she chose the three wise monkeys, except they were more like dragony lizard heads. One was a dragon that breathed fire (speak no evil), and the second was an almost robotic snake with laser eyes (see no evil). The third one had been the hardest to conceptualize, and she had gone with something that could deafen a room with its scream, but her teachers hadn’t ‘loved’ it.

Her thoughts are interrupted by the can being knocked over in the large workroom, and Andi jumps up from her spot and goes over to the door. She sees 4 imps, and she grins, for the first time kind of excited to try her stuff out. She summons the aerosol weapon with one hand, but starts with the bolts, killing three before the other two get close. The two are clustered, however, and she is able to aerosol them both with ease. “Cool.” She grins, ignoring the mild disturbance at the ease with which she was able to take those 5 lives.

The door to the sculpting room doesn’t lock—it’s been busted for years, but Andi grabs some rope and wraps it around the handles a few times to slow the next guys down. She puts the tin can back with some of the beads shoved back into them, and then turns to Georgesprite. “I know, you need some attention.” she says.

Andi checks her phone once more, and sees a message from Skip (of all people) asking if anyone could draw or sculpt. She looks around her workshop and laughs out-loud, then looks down to see Fire Lord volunteered her as well.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: I can probably help. Need to second prototype my sprite too, but I am in my workshop, so I have some fun stuff. PM me if you still need help, Skip.

She sends the message, and then goes to the back room once more to look at her three-headed hydra design. Another sketch she had done for an ‘underwater’ theme is sitting near it, and gives her a great idea. For the third head, Georgesprite’s main head, she changes his tongue into a long octopus leg that has spikes on the end. Hear no evil. The snake opens his mouth, and the ‘tongue’ lashes out, right through an imp’s ear and head... the attack completely silent. It is perfect, and completes the trifecta of the concept.

With a brief thought about her teacher being impressed with her, Andi shows Georgsprite the design, wanting his nod of approval as well before she chapalogues the card--because one can never have too much information, right? She has one brief moment of hesitation as she remembered Edward Hiss-orhands… and wonders what kind of imps they are going to face once she finishes this prototyping. She could pull back on the design, just give him a regular weapon instead…But this design is way too cool to pass up, and she begins the second prototyping.

Baker: “It’s over…? Oh good.” Tim looked over the rolling pin he had, noticing the small dents in it. “Good thing I bought the expensive one.” It was still pretty sturdy, but he’d probably need to upgrade his weapon like suggested. With a smile, Tim nodded to Charro. “I promised we’d get food after so of course.” He locked the bakery before heading back up the steps. “I think a snack break is well deserved anyway. Food, the one thing around here that makes sense.” He chuckled. Messages started coming in, or at least he started to realize they were there so he checked them out. Stithis and FireLord seemed to have really cool sounding sprites- The picture of Stithis’ confirming it. “Wow.” He looked over at Charro and smiled. “Nah, I like you like that. Nothing too flashy and yet still cool. The flames are a nice touch.”

He skimmed over the message from Skip about needing an artist. Sure he made cakes and baked goods, but he was no artist. Not the kind she was looking for. Fortunately for her, Andi could help out.

BakerGroup: What’s this coding thing you guys are talking about? I may have missed something…

Truth be told, every time he read over the manual (as many times as he pulled it out) he only skimmed through each part. More so out of a panicky race for time. “Oh yeah.” Tim snapped a quick picture of Charro and sent it to the group, since they were sharing sprite pictures. He set his phone down afterwards and rummaged through the fridge. “Hm, well I know what I can eat,” He took out the other half of a sandwich he had made and sat it on the counter before searching again. “As for you, I suppose I could give you tuna. I normally gave Zorro that, or random pieces of-” He looked over to see Charro nibbling on the sandwich that was left. “Or you can eat that. That’s fine too.” He shook his head and took out a small box of donuts.

He decided to peek in and check on Stithis, sitting on the counter next to Charro.

BakerGroup: So what are you guys trying to accomplish now? It would probably give me idea of what I should do next… I do suggest snack breaks though.

“Geez, I sound like a mom….Still, better to make sure they’re okay and remember to not fight until their dead. Besides, breaks give you time to think. They give you time to plan.” Tim was now just motivating and convincing himself at this point. “Yeah, this is a time to relax. And a time to think of a new plan. Soo..I have a few of those jewel things. There’s that CD I need to get. Oh and upgrading weapons. I think I’ll do that.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi is waiting for Skip’s reply, pulling out some paper and a water bottle, when she sees a message from Baker. He is asking about the coding thing, and she waits a few moments to see if Stithis is sending a message before she replies.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: I think we are all missing a few things :P

BubblegumcAndiGroup: Here’s the gist of the whole grist thing, hehe. The code is on the back of the chapalog cards. You can put one of your blank cards in the punch designix machine, type in the code that someone shared, and then it will punch the card to make the item. Like when you came into the game, you take the card and put it in the lathe to make the totem, and then the Alchemiter to have the totem made into an actual item. If you have an actual item that you want the code of, like the figurine Stithis used, then you put it on the card, then put it in the punching machine. He can’t get his figurine back, but if he typed that code in a blank card, he could have a new one made.

She sends the message to see that baker has sent a picture of his sprite, so she turns to her…now 3-headed snake/dragon/lizard creature and takes a quick picture of it to share with the group as well. She is pleased that the snake head still has his Mexican sombrero on, even though it seems a little weird now.

The next message from Baker is about what they are all trying to do. He suggests snack breaks, and Andi chuckles. Then she realizes that while she has snacks, she is pretty sure she will eventually need real food.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: Speaking of snacks, do you think if you made food using the card system and send us the codes, we could make actual food? What I wouldn’t give for a cupcake right now…

BubblegumcAndiGroup: More importantly though, if your sprite is done, I would focus on weapons. I showed you the pictures of what I made. Make sure you can defend yourself. And check on the person you are hosting to make sure they don’t need any support or equipment. I don’t want to rush getting out of this level, but don’t forget you need to build a path up to those weird Spirograph things in the sky for your player…

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra is blasting her way through her fifth wave of imps when her phone pings. Spotting a response from the aforementioned “BubblegumcAndi” she puts down the last imp with a shot to the head before returning to the hotel room, which is now what she calls her base of operations. Sitting down at the desk she ignores all other postings to the group for now, wanting to deal with her sprite issue first and foremost.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: Thanks for getting back to me. When you got time, I need help with making something for my sprite. . . .It's kinda personal, but I suck at art.

Looking over at Alexi she sighs softly before turning back to the computer and watching her player putter around the kitchen.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: Letting out a huge yawn James spins his chair back and forth, reading the messages as they come in and wondering if he should reply. “They seem to have it all well in hand. . .” Normally drawn to games where co-op is always optional, he's not exactly confident that he will be able to contribute anything to the conversation other than talking about himself. Which normally he's always up for, but as he yawns once more he's quite sure that it would not be his finest moment. When the subject of snacks comes up however, he lets out a soft curse and looks over at his little fridge. “I love all the food I have, but I don't think I want to spend months eating only that. . . .” Letting out a sigh he pulls out and chapalogs one of each of the snacks he owns and sends the codes to the group chat.

Fire LordGroup: Here is what I have for food. Some OJ(####) some Apples(####) some Chocolate Covered Raisins(####) and some Coke(####). It was to be shopping day the day after tomorrow, so I am a bit low on food items. . .

He doesn't want to sound like he's begging, but even he knows that these things will not get him very far. After a few seconds however, he rotates slowly in his chair and stares at his Alchemiter. “I wonder. . . . .”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BakerGroup: Oh! Thanks Andi. That clears up some stuff.

Tim was looking at his cards as she spoke. He didn’t have many items, save for the knives he collected before the game. He’d probably need more of those. It made him realize the other reason he hadn’t been playing games for awhile- besides being busy- was he even good at them?? ’Well I’ve got no choice to be good at it now.’

“What items would I need…” He looked over at Charro’s makeshift gun. It was more of a defensive weapon to keep creatures at a distance, and Charro was much better with its claws anyway but it still may have needed to be refilled every once and awhile. He’d get to it later. There were weapons that needed to be upgraded. He hopped off the counter, when Charro declared he was finished. “Come on buddy, we’re headed downstairs for the upgrade.”

Again, he checked on Marcus to make sure he was okay. The guy was able to handle his own, and his sprite seemed more than capable of helping out. Another message appeared and both Andi and Fire mentioned food.

BakerGroup: Oh, I can be of use there. My place is a literal bakery.

Without further question, he starts to put some of the food he has in the chapalog and sent the codes.

BakerGroup: Croissants(#####), Rolls(#####), Basket of Muffins(#####). Don’t worry, this stuff is fresh. They were orders from customers, buuut yeah I don’t have customers. Cinnamon rolls(#####) That’s all for now. It’s not the healthiest, but it’s still variety in it. Thanks for yours FireLord.

He continued his search through the workspace, looking for products that would work. “Oh! This could work.” He pulled out a grater, touching the ragged edges of it before looking at the rolling pin. That would be quite a painful hit. And cut. Blending the two together caused the pin to have longer handles and the surface to feel like the grater. "Success! This should be able to hold them off until my next upgrade is needed."

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi receives Skip’s message that asks for something for her sprite, but she still hasn’t gone into detail on what it is she needs. She peaks out the door to make sure nothing is coming, and then settles back in the chair.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: I’ve got time. What kind of thing you want? More human with weapons, or some sort of creature? Gimme the deets.

She glances over to her sketches, but realizes that it won’t be helpful to just send random things, and she had better wait until she knows what Skip is actually looking for it.

Fire Lord then sends the group the food items he has. It isn’t a full diet, but at least he has soda. Most of Andi’s food is upstairs, and while she can fight a few imps to get there and check out the cabinet, for now she sticks with what she has.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: I don’t have much in the way of food. I’m not at home. But I have some bottled water (####) and granola bars (####). Together, we can make a college kid diet!

Baker’s addition to actually being in a bakery is a huge relief, and Andi reads the codes he has provided, already envious and wanting all of that.

BubblegumcAndiGroup: Wow Baker, I have suddenly decided who my favorite person is….Speaking of what we have and don’t, I don’t know if we will have to sleep in this game, but I definitely don’t have much in the way of blankets/pillows. Actually… I think the office upstairs has a couch in it.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laura chews her lip, unsure of how to put the “deets” as the artist puts it. Looking back at Alexi she sighs softly. Pulling out her phone she readies a photo before responding.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: Hmmmm. . . .I'm not completely concerned with what to add, but more with what I want to keep. . .

Sending the photo of her and her little brother, the last one she has of him, she waits until it goes through before typing again.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: That's my little brother, and. . . .I used a lock of his hair for my sprite. . .And, I don't want to do anything that will, y'know, make him less him? If that makes any sense. . . .I have some ideas, but I guess I just need for now to know you can at least do human faces, or something. . .

She knows she sound weird, but she can't help it. It's her brother after all.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: The picture catches Andi a bit off-guard, and she isn't sure what she is supposed to be looking at until she gets the next message from Skip. It says that this boy was her brother, and she used a part of him to make the sprite. By Andi's logic, that means that the sprite looks like her brother, and she doesn't want to lose that.

It's a tough situation, and Andi glances over at her sprite, wondering how pissed Skip will be if this just...doesn't work.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: I can do human faces, and I think this stuff works more off intent rather than literal anyway. What do you want to equip him with?

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Or instead, if he could have had any super power, what would it be?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra tries to think of her little brother mentioning anything like that, super powers or whatnot were never all that big with him, but he did like playing video games with her on occasion.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: I don't know about super powers, but we used to play a lot of Assassin's Creed. Ever seen that game? I found it kind of ironic to be playing an assassin game with him, and the guy in it's human enough. . .Let me ask him.

Turning to her brother she raises an eyebrow at him and with a silent giggle he smiles and nods. Smiling back she turns back to the computer.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: Yeah, he likes the idea. If I send you a picture, do you think you could somehow work Alexi into the outfit the main guy has or something?

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndiSkip: I know the series a bit, but go ahead and send a picture. Do you have a printer there for me to send you one back, or should I chapalog it here?

_+_+_+_+_+_

SkipBubblegumcAndi: I doubt this family brought a printer, so it would be best if you send me a code for it. Someone dropped off a card with that Designix thing on it. Don't know who, but yeah, that's a thing. There some dogooder running around here. . . .

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi reread the next message from Skip a few times, unsure of what she meant.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Dogooder? Like...you brought someone into the game with you?

_+_+_+_+_+_

SkipBubblegumcAndi: No, no, like. I was sanding in the room, I hear something like wind chimes, but by the time I turned with by gun whatever made the noise was gone. I found a punched card with the Designix thing on it along with a note. The note said that they were warned I would shoot first ask questions never so they dropped off the card without sticking around. I don't know who it is, but the card was signed 'Shenanigans'.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblgumcAndiSkip: That's...bizarre. Isn't Shenanigans the name of our team? Maybe we have some sort of masco--Did you say you have a gun?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra saw that coming, but doesn't panic.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: We've all got histories, right? I'm not someone to kill teammates, so for now let's just focus on surviving, yeah? And yeah, I think that's what that Sandro guy called out team. . .

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: After seeing some of the profanity Skip used earlier, Andi feels like the woman is staying rather calm, which helps her relax a fair bit. She gives a small nod to herself, and then refocuses as she types her message.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Alright then. I mean... I guess most of us have weapons now anyway. And I am not one to judge. I am pretty sure guns are legal in most states anyway.... If you send that picture I will do a quick sweep of my studio and then get on the sketch :)

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: The assassin smiles and sends the pictures of Altair she rotates as the background on her phone.

hdwallpapers.in/walls/altair_ibn_la_ah..
all4desktop.com/data_images/original/4..

SkipBubblegumcAndi: Thanks again. I'll pay you back some day. I promise.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi looks at the pictures and smiles. She knew of Assassins creed, but this will make it really easy. She moves over to the computer and moves Fire Lord's window to the side, then imports the pictures into the program. The Zbrush program makes her life really easy, because she doesn't have to recreate the pictures, only blend them together and make the edges work. She does take the time to change some of the proportions on the figure to make them more child-like, figuring that the child's face on a large frame looks a bit weird.

She takes a break after a few minutes to clear her workroom again, killing a few imps. Now that her sprite has been upgraded, he helps a fair amount too, which makes her life a lot easier. That, and her new wrist-mounted crossbow makes the job super quick, and once she sets up the barriers again, she goes back to work.

As she looks at it once more, though, Andi can tell that it just ... doesn't look right. She shrinks the window and opens a new one, starting from scratch. Grabbing the drawing tablet that is plugged into the computer, she begins quickly sketching the design. She doesn't need to focus on shading, since everything will be Skip's color anyway.

She spends the most time on the kid's face, making sure to keep the brightness in his eyes, the less-defined small nose, the round chin. The weapons and cloak come quickly to her, matching well with the types of things she likes to draw anyway. Still, the process takes a good deal of time, and she has to take two more breaks to stretch, kill some imps, and set up her traps once more before she sends back a picture to Skip to approve.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: I don't usually work so quickly, so let me know what you want me to fix before I chapalog it.

On the cloak, she has the longer sword, and she made sure to have the wrist knives as well as the colors and style of the assassin.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Knowing that art takes time Laurra leaves the computer, slipping her phone into her pocket as she sets about killing as many imps as she can in the interim. She avoids going outside, wanting to be close to the Alchemiter once the picture comes through. Alexi floats around behind her as she “works” and every once in a while she feels like she's doing something wrong. Faint flashes of her human kills go through her mind ever few kills and more and more guilt tries to make it's way into her heart. She pushes it away, focusing, trying desperately to keep them away. She'd always been careful to keep Alexi from finding out what she does for a living, but with him, here, watching her, he can't hep but feel that he's always known.

Then at last her phone goes off and she pulls it up quickly, slipping into the parent's room. Looking over the picture she sees that it was indeed done quickly, but over all it looks exactly like what she wanted.

SkipBubblegumcAndi: Looks good. Thanks a lot for this.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: No one really knows how long art takes. Andi isn't really thrilled with the result, but she thinks that the machine works more on intent anyway, and it should be fine. Skip seems to approve, and so she quickly prints out the sketch and puts it on an item card.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: No problem! Nice for me to have some sense of normalcy in all of this :)

She sends brightly, and then remembers that she needed to send the code as well.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Here's the code (####)

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Taking the code she sends a quick thanks to BubblegumcAndi before moving over to the machine to make her totem. Using the Designix she punches one of her blank cards with the new code and smiles as she watches the card immediately replaced in her inventory. 'Good, don't need to be running out of those. . .' Pulling out her newly punched card she carves her totem and within moments has her own copy of the picture drawn for her by BubblegumcAndi. Looking at Alexi she hesitates for a few seconds, looking at him with slightly sad eyes. He however takes the initiative in her hesitation and reaches out to touch the picture.

There is a bright flash and when at last it fades Laurra finds herself grinning like a fool. “My my little brother. Quite a costume you've got there!.” For the first time in years, she sounds somewhat happy as she circles the floating sprite. Basically a perfect copy of the sketch she pauses in front of him to peek under his hood. Finding her little brother's familiar face grinning back at her she lets out a soft sigh and nods.

Alexisprite: “Hello sister. It feels like it's been a long time. . .” He doesn't seem put-out by the thought, but after a moment he gives his big sister a tight hug.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Charrosprite → Baker: The sprite follows Baker downstairs and purrs deeply when he sees how happy Baker is over his creation. Like the large cat he is, he nuzzles the man before turning his eye towards the front door. “Want to try it out?”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: After six or seven experimental mixes, James finally figures out some useful uses for food game wise. Taking the failures (Such as the chocolate coated Coke bottle and the raisin with coke flavoring that tasted just awful) he decides to share what he's learned before his nap, which he definitely needs after consuming a particularly foolish mix of all his foods into one liquid chunky mess.

Fire LordGroup: Hello all. I did some experimenting and as it turns out, certain food mixtures will make creations that are not only palpable, but also have extra in game side effects. So far all I've managed to make are a couple things that fill you with energy, along with something akin to poison, but I thought I would share. Copple (####), Appange Juice, and this one is the nastiest thing I made – Beast Juice (####). I shudder every time I think of that taste. . . .But maybe you guys can make use of it. Well, I'm off to bed.

Reading the rest of the group posts he feels a slight pang of jealousy as Andi announces she likes Baker best, but he does his best to push the feeling aside. He doesn't need anyone's approval. So what if she's his Host? She can go ahead and favor whoever she wants. In a better mood he would likely send codes for his bedding, but as he is tired and Andi's comment having put him in a sour mood he silences his phone and crawls into bed.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Marcus spends a good while having fun slaughtering things with his newly proto-typed sprite, ignoring all the pings from his phone and focusing on refining his skill with his weapon. At first he'd kinda sucked, simply swinging it around, bashing things to death more often than actually slicing them, but after a good hour of practice he's got the “swing” of it and feels satisfied with how much grist he's gathered. Retreating to his apartment he puts his scythe away and locks the door behind him. Sephillsprite slips through the door behind him, very ghost like, and drifts over to the kitchen to hover for a while.

The now exhausted young man looks over at the floating being and smiles. 'Yeah, I did good. . .' With a sigh he collapses on to the couch and takes a few minutes to just breath before pulling up his phone to check messages. He chuckles as Fire Lord fails to hide his own fanboy nature when it comes to the sword Sephillsprite now wields and quickly sends in the code.

Stithis: → Fire Lord: Here y'go guy. For the figurine (####). Good luck with your recreation!

Reading further he sees Bubble being innovative and grins. “Sweet. Nice job Bubbles.” he says to the room as he continues to scroll down. He hasn't made anything neat yet so he wants to see if there's any new developments to address before just breaking in with random chat and or ideas. He chuckles and smiles proudly as, after being volunteered, Bubbles offers up her help in the sprite making herself, and while he's at it he checks out the pics already submitted fro sprites. “These are awesome. . .” he murmurs, nodding in approval at his phone. Scribbling down all the codes on his phone's word app he lets out a huge yawn as he continues reading.

Once he's done he wanders over to his room, chapaloging his entire bed set, including his body pillow and fitted sheet. Managing to put it all on one card he quickly takes down the code before remaking his bed.

StithisGroup: Hey guys, just got done killing my way through several swarms. I'm a bit tired but I thought I'd drop this here for ya. I got a Bed Set (####) that I hope will do ya Bubbles, and thanks for the food shares. I think I'll chapalog my whole pantry later so we can add more variety and perhaps some healthier stuff to this mix. Heck, I may even cook meals, for fun.

Plopping back on to the couch Marcus pulls up his SBURB and idly begins building on to Andi's building. He doesn't want to use up her grist or anything, but he figures it will be a nice mindless task before he takes a quick nap. 'I've only been up a few hours, but I didn't sleep all that well last night. . . .'

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: You hear what sounds like wind chimes from somewhere behind you. A flickering cloud of mist about large enough for a single human to stand in appears. After a seconds, the mist clears and a person is left standing there. It appears to be male, and a bit taller than you, wearing a dark red hoodie with a black skull and cross swords on the front and matching red pants. The hood is up but you can see his face rather clearly. He smiling at you like he knows you.

_+_+_+_+_+_

??? → BubblegumcAndi: “Hey Bubbles! How you doin'?” The guy smiles at Andi, standing in a clearly relaxed pose with his hands in the pocket of the hoodie.

BubblegumcAndi: After setting up Skip with the picture, Andi returns to her studio, taking care of some imps as she works her way upstairs to the kitchen. She finds a few other food items and heats them up, taking a short break as she reads the newest message from Fire Lord.

He has explained that he has created new foods that have in-game effects, which is…bizarre. It makes sense when actually playing a game, but putting things in her body that give her a boost—or accidentally poison her, is a bit more frightening. It sends a shiver down her spine just as the microwave ‘dings’. With a small nod, she types a message to him, figuring that he will likely get it when he wakes.

BubblegumcAndiFire Lord: Weird. But cool. Thanks for experimenting!

She also makes a mental note to keep a closer eye on things for him since he will be asleep, and she has no idea if sprites need sleep too. In either case, getting back downstairs to her computer sooner would likely be better.

When she gets back in front of her other computer, she sees that Stithis has dropped a bedroll, and grins. That will certainly make her night. She jots down the code, and in between bites, goes over to the punch designix machine to get the card for the bedroll. When it is ready, she goes through the rest of the motions to create the sleeping bag.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Thanks so much! I’d cook, but you’d have to make sure I don’t blow the place up :P

Andi has just about finished her dish when she hears the sound of…windchimes? She jumps up for a moment, thinking that it must be imps having knocked over her trap again, but instead, it is some guy in a red hoodie and pants. When he speaks, he addresses her in the nickname that Stithis uses, something anyone would easily know, but she looks at him uneasily, having risen from her seat.

He looks relaxed, but that doesn’t mean Andi is. “I am…significantly less confident in my fortifications now…thank you very much.” She pauses, looking over him once more before she continues. “Shenanigans, I presume?” She asks, thinking of Skip’s earlier statement. Any guy who can just teleport all…wind-chimey mist in front of her certainly isn’t going to be a level appropriate encounter, and she hopes that this isn’t some new thing she is supposed to fight.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Holding his hands up in the 'I mean no harm' pose he smiles a little wider and nods. “Yeah, I'm Shenanigans. No need to freak out. We're friends after all.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi raises her eyebrows a bit as the man doesn’t deny the accusation—and actually admits to being Shenanigans, whatever that means. She had not really thought through her words before they came out of her mouth, but she is glad it was those particular words, and not the wrist-mounted crossbow. “Firstly, this isn’t me freaking out,” she says, leaning against the table while still facing the man. “and second, just how are we friends? I don’t know you… You are either some hallucination brought on by the game, or you are running it, in which case I’m sure a lot of people just died. I’m generally not friends with mass murderers.” Andi isn’t trying to be accusatory, but she is trying to figure out just what this guy is doing here, and how he intends to ‘help’.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Pressing his hand to his chest in mock hurt the young man declares, “What, me? Lord English? No way! That guy's a dick!” Putting his hand down he sighs, still looking relaxed. “But no, seriously, I'm not him.” Pushing his hood back he smiles at the woman across from him for a moment before pulling something small and silvery from his pocket. Tossing it gently to Andi he says, “Here, you gave this to me as proof before I left.” The object is an ear piece. One he can see her wearing right now as a perfect copy lands in her hand. Reaching up he scratches behind a device attached over his left ear that looks a bit like a scouter from DBZ. “You said it was special.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: After building a few floors Marcus yawns, pulling up Pesterchum and checking Bubbles' response. He chuckles at her joke about blowing the place up before zooming in to the room she's in now. His fingers freeze however when he spots the figure standing across the room from her. “What the. . . .” he says in a harsh whisper. Before he can stop himself he types something to Andi.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: How the fuck did I get there!?

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Lord English? What kind of bizarre name was that? Though, Andi doesn’t have a lot of time to contemplate it, however, since he pulls out something and throws it to her. It is her earring. She studies it for a few moments before she feels her ear, where the gift from her last serious boyfriend was still sitting.

Removing the hood doesn’t suddenly reveal anything terribly useful about the guy. He isn’t horribly disfigured, or particularly evil looking at all, really. He adds that she gave it to him before he left, and she raises her gaze skeptically once more. “Before you left…what, the future?” It doesn’t occur to Andi that she already knows him, but if he is trying to say that she gave her earring to him, and she doesn’t remember it, the future is (sadly) the most likely answer. Of course, with the machines they have in this game, he could have easily made one. He would still have to have yours… She reminds herself.

“It is special.” She answers, running her fingers over the pattern once more. “So what are you here for?” She figures it is a slightly more polite way to ask what he wants. Andi feels the phone buzz, but figuring it is a group message, she ignores it for now. This is clearly more important.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: “Fuck, I wish I could read lips. . .” he murmurs, sending another message.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Hey, chika, that's like, me, but older. How. . . .How the heck does this work!?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Humming softly the guy looks out the window as he answers. “Without getting too much into it, yes, the future. Two years from now actually.” He seems wistful, and rather sad. “And I'm here to make sure something that happened in my time line doesn't happen in yours.” Turning his gaze back on to Andi he smiles brightly. “You've rather keep both of your eyes, right?”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Two years?... If he came from the future, and it had been two years, there was no getting out of this. Andi’s expression softens a bit as she notes his change in disposition. “Shit…” He is traveling in time to save this timeline… It is completely crazy, and yet also possible.

“Umm yes, I do prefer to keep my eyes, Shananigans…” She replies quickly. “They are pretty important in art.”

“That’s what you came back to change? Me losing an eye?” She asks. Somehow, she thinks that he is really talking about something different, and though the situation is strange, she is all ears.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: He nods slowly. “One of many things I'm gonna work on here. This is the true time line, so if this one fails, then all hope is lost. . .” He once more sounds rather distant, but after a moment he brightens. “But, that's a very complex matter that we'll deal with later. For now I . . . .” Suddenly a book comes floating through the air and pokes him in the cheek. With a sigh he pushes the book away. It comes back and begins poking at his chest and with another sight he says, “Chat, Stithis, current time line.” The device on his ear moves, a green visor screen slipping out to curve around his eyes.

Shenanigans → Stithis: Yeah dude, I know, cool duds, now can you chill for a bit while I save Andi from a giant monster who will poke out her eye if we're not careful?

He says this aloud before saying “End chat.” and the visor retreats. Smiling at Andi once more his eyes once more trail to the window.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Seeing the new message Marcus drops the book and stares. “Whoa. . .Yeah, I think I'll just. . . .” Quickly he grabs the heaviest thing nearby and waits patiently. No way he's letting his friend and comrade lose an eye!

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Shenanigans goes on about true time lines, and it is all really a bit much for Andi so she just nods and waits for him to get back on track. As a book comes towards him, Andi frowns, and then pulls out her phone. She realizes that it has to be Stithis, and figures maybe he sees something that she doesn’t and was trying to warn her. She quickly takes in his two messages, and then looks back up at Shen—Stithis?

Shenanigans says something… but clearly not to her, as a visor appears over her eyes. If this weren’t so weird, she might just say that his gear was really cool. Instead, she blurts out something that sounds much less intelligent.

“You’re…Stithis…From the future.”

Her gaze moves to the window, finally, and then she remembers the rest of what he has said. “So…how do I keep my eyes?” She asks.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Shenanigans nods distractedly. “Yeah, that I am, and you keep your eyes by not letting that pick you up.” Just as he says 'that' a dark face appears outside the window. It looks somewhat feline with black hair and a forked tongue. Along the top edge of the window you can see what looks to be a sombrero. Looking over at Andi with a playful smile he points towards the nearest door. “To the roof! We don't want this thing trashing your workshop!” Without a sound a giant fan that looks like a classic Japanese paper fan made of shiny black metal appears in his hand and he motions for Andi to take the lead. The fan is nearly as tall as he is but he props it up on his shoulder with ease.

Fan(But black and silver instead of white and gold) - Fan

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi looks out to see a very large creature, much larger than the basic imps, and her eyes widen. “I thought we were on level 1—only imps!” She squeals. He points to the door and suggests that they go upstairs, to which Andi nods quickly. “Yea…” She slips her phone back in her pocket, and then makes sure that her wrist cross-bow is mounted before ‘leading the way’ as Shenanigans suggested.

There are a few imps they encounter along the way, though Andi takes out most of them with her weapon. The ones that she misses, Shenanigans or her sprite takes care of. Andi doesn’t really pay much attention, she is just moving ahead and taking out what she cans. It reminds her a bit of those Crash Bandicoot levels where you want to pick up the treasure but there is something chasing you and so you spent most of your time running. She makes her way up the stairs quickly, and finds a new set of stairs that continue leading up.

Taking them without hesitation, Andi grabs the railing to steady herself as she shoots an imp at the top of the stairs, and soon finds herself on the room, dispatching a few other imps that are around. The creature was apparently climbing up to the roof as well, and as it comes into view once more, Andi’s eyes widen. What had she done to earn the wrath of a boss-ogre?

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Running along behind Andi as she blasts her way through imps Marcus smiles as a wave of nostalgia passes through him. “This is your home base, not level one, and the enemies level up as you do. You'll only ever get basic level monsters here at your base, but eventually all the incarnations of the first grade of monsters will appear.” Skidding to a halt on the roof he watches at the ogre climbs into view. “You just breeched level five recently, so this guy showed up. You need to get Stithis to make you a safe room. Inside the room, as long as the door is locked, no monsters will bother you, and the ones outside the room won't destroy your stuff, but for now, let's worry about taking him down, eh?”

With a flick of his wrist his fan vanishes and after a few seconds a new weapon appears. Looking way too big to be wielded by a human a giant double sided scythe appears in his hand.

Scythe - Referance 1
Referance 2

Twirling it easily he smiles over at Andi reassuringly. “The game never throws anything at you you can't handle here at your base, as long as the proto-typeing went right, which it did, so I'll keep you safe, but you take the lead!”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Grinning wide at the sight of the scythe Marcus logs it away to make later, once he's able to not only make it, but to wield it. He still has his table at the ready to do some bashing if needed.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “So... this…is first level?” She asks, gesturing towards the ogre. She tries to file away what he says about a safe room, knowing she will need to do the same for Fire Lord as well. “Safe like… just a door with a lock?” She asks. Of course, now that she was asking questions, she really wanted to know why he didn’t just take care of this himself. He was obviously quite a bit higher level than she was. She also wanted to know why he didn’t just do his weird teleporty thing to the roof, but she refrains from asking that at the moment.

Suddenly he was holding a giant scythe, and Andi takes a step away to make sure that she isn’t going to be hit by it. “But…couldn’t you take care of this on your own better?” She asks. She summons her aerosol weapon, holding it in her left hand since the cross-bow is in the right—but it still feels like this guy should just take care of it for her.

“Hey…why did you come back and not me?” she asks. Of course, the ogre takes that moment to charge, and Andi shoots him with the crossbow and then Aerosols him before running to the side and out of the way. She gets her bearings once more on the other side of the roof, and shoots the ogre again before it can start to run towards her.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Letting out a soft sigh while still smiling at the familiar lack of proper 'time to talk' logic from the younger version of his old friend, Shenanigans jumps to the side, but stays close enough to Andi so he doesn't have to yell too loud for her to hear him responds, and so that he is always within striking distance of the ogre should she lose focus. “For now, as long as it's a room where you can lock the doors, you're safe, but later on you want a room with no windows, or windows with doors over them you can lock as later on monsters will figure out that windows are breakable.”

Putting away his scythe for a moment, he calls a saxophone that looks like it's Satan himself's, then with a grin plays a familiar tune.

Elemental Enhancement

The ogre screams as the sound seems to give Andi's gun some extra flame power, making one of it's arms unusable. Putting it away after a few seconds he pulls his scythe back out and her weapon's power goes back to normal. “Yeah, I could, but then you'd miss out on the experience, and in this game, it's best to take what you can get. If I start playing it for you, I don't really know what will happen. I haven't tried it yet, but it's best not to experiment here.” Rolling out of the way of a swing he comes out of the roll right next to Andi, standing at her side with his weapon at the ready. “As for why you're not here, that's easy.” He smiles over at her. “I'm the guy with the time powers, not you, and bringing people with me heightens the chance of the time line getting fucked.”

_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Baker: Tim looked a little sheepish towards the nice message sent by Andi and decided to leave it at that. They were going to have plenty of food to spare and Stithis even supplied her with blankets. FIreLord sent out random mixtures of drinks? Poisons? Either way, it’d be helpful in the future. Good, things were going smoothly. He wondered how Skip was doing, but figured she was busy getting help from Andi- whatever artistic project she needed aid with. Speaking of artistic, he was supposed to be building ‘skyscrapers’ in order to reach the sky.

Feeling Charro nuzzle against him, he realized he’d been stuck in thought. “Hm? Oh, right. I need to build more grist. Then I can start working on that skyscraper- er, Spirograph.” He petted Charro and wielded his newer weapon. “Alright Charro, let’s get this over with.” Of course, he dreaded every moment of the fighting, but he dealt with it. The others all had words of encouragement (or insults) towards his pacifistic behavior. He opened the door, whistling outside in order to get the imps’ attention. Of course, they travelled in packs and of course there had been more than the last time.

He started off fighting as he normally did, wildly swinging the rolling pin this way and that. He quickly realized that wouldn’t keep him safe forever. The imps were smarter. They learned how to not run right into danger. They got evasive and Baker had to become defensive. His swings had become more coordinated and he even began to incorporate the grater in his attacks, scratching the imps to stun them and then attacking with the pin. As the last imp fell and turned into Grist, Tim slumped into one of the chairs and heaved a sigh.

“...Well, on the bright side, the weapon works.” He chuckled lightly and stood back up, closing the door to the bakery again. As much as crashing and burning (passing out) sounded, Tim instead went back up the steps to his computer. He figured it’d be better to work as much as possible rather than stop now. Peeking in on Stithis, he only spotted him sitting and invested in something else, possibly his host.

BakerStithis: Just giving you a heads up. I’m going to start on this Spiro skyscraper thing now. So if it gets a little shaky, really sorry about that!

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: A wave of sadness passes through the woman as the familiar feeling of her brother's arms around her remind the hardened assassin once more that he's actually quite dead. 'This isn't him. Just a sprite in his form. . .But, he called me sister. . . .' Letting out a shuddering breath she gives the sprite a light hug of her own before pushing him to arms length to look him over. His ever present smile gives way to a giggle as he waits for her to complete her inspection.

Alexisprite: “Am I all up to specks sister?” he asks cutely, turning this way and that while still being held to show off best he can.

Skip: She smiles back at his antics and nods slowly. “Yeah Alexi, you're just. . . .Perfect. . . .” Seeing her sad he gives her another hug before proceeding to play with his own weapons with the same child like wonder she would expect if her real brother were alive and actually here with her. Pushing that aside however she looks to her phone and sees Baker doing some actual fighting. Watching for a moment she tries to gather her thoughts. Watching as he heads back inside she sends him a message more as a distraction than any real desire to converse with the man.

SkipBaker: Seems like you're making even more progress. You may become less than cannon fodder yet!

Looking back at her sprite she wonders for a long moment what to do before finally giving in and motioning towards the door. “Shall we go do some exploring?” Alexisprite nods and drifts over, waiting for the door to open.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Marcus watches the fight closely, smashing the ogre with the table every once in a while to try and at least be distracting. He can't help but feel exhilarated as he sees the weapon his other self is wielding and makes note to try and make some of them himself in the future. At the sight of the sax he looks at his old saxophone on it's stand in the corner and nods. “Hell yes. . .”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Fire Lord: He lays in bed for a go long while, staring off into space, until at last he can feel sleep coming to him. Looking over at Nintorisprite he murmurs, “Keep me safe.” and waits for the nod before letting himself drift off to sleep. However, strangely, as he begins nodding off, he simultaneously feels as if he's waking from a very long, satisfying sleep. Then, with a start, he sits up. His eyes whip around the room and at first he doesn't recognize where he is. Then, it dawns on him as he looks at the lush velvet curtains around his bed and the books lining the shelves along the left wall. “This, is my room!”

Leaping out of bed a flash of gold catches his eye and he looks down to see himself dressed in the oddest clothing. They look like gold pajamas with a moon emblem on the chest. “What the heck?”

Clothes - Prospit Male

Looking up his eyes wander over the walls, which also appear to be golden, and he noted that his room's vaulted ceiling has been reduced to a reasonable height. Looking at the far wall he also makes note that the huge window that had made up much of the wall all the way up to the ceiling has been replaced with one small one, free of glass, and about the size of a doorway. About his room are scattered a few things he's never owned, but all of which he likes and would enjoy owning, but never actually purchased. Every which way things seems so familiar but also so different, and all he can do is stare in wonder.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: He describes that she only needs a lock, though later she will need to get a place without windows. Andi immediately thinks of the room upstairs for photographing their makeups. It is set up with no windows so there isn’t any outside glare. That room would be idea for her safe house, but she obviously doesn’t have time to deal with that now.

Future Stithis plays the saxophone, and Andi gathers that either the sound is making the ogre ill, or it somehow boosts her aerosol weapon’s flames. In any case, it certainly hasn’t ‘popped’ yet, and so she alternates her weapons, feeling like she should have gone for the two-handed crossbow with more power instead.

He explains that it probably isn’t best for him to be playing for her, and Andi nods in agreement. At least that makes sense. He then adds that he has time powers, and taking along others makes the journey more risky. She fires again, moving to the side, closer to the edge of the roof, and replies as he closes the distance between them. “That makes sense… But if you are time, what’s my power going to be?”

She lost count of how many arrows she has fired, and she should have gone through a whole can of hairspray by now, but this creature just isn’t dying. It’s actually…a bit embarrassing. She should be able to take care of a creature this early in the game, and she hadn’t heard of a single complaint from anyone else about difficult opponents. Not only was this taking a very long time, but apparently last time she fought the ogre, she lost an eye!

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Slipping an arm around her waist with familiar ease he launches himself into the air and lands them a couple dozen feet away before putting her down and smiling at her. “Why, Hope of course!” He chuckles. He seems almost sadly nostalgic as he smiles at Andi, pulling his sax out once more. “How about we turn this guy into a pile of ash, hmm?” Putting the mouth piece between his lips once more he begins playing the same song as before.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: You can feel a stirring inside you at the sound, something about it making you think of fire.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi shrieks when he launches them both into the air, and out of reflex she smacks his hand away—once they have landed, of course. “Hope? That sounds much less awesome than time travel—I thought at least I would get like…bionic robot powers or something.” Andi pouts, though it isn’t entirely serious. She notices that he seems a little sad, perhaps, but she really doesn’t know the guy well enough to say. If this were all via text, and she knew it was Stithis, she might have a chance at gauging his emotions. In person, however, she wasn’t nearly so talented.

Andi takes a step away as he pulls out his saxophone, and readies her aerosol weapon with both hands, moving a few steps closer to the ogre as she pulls the trigger and holds it.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: He play pouted when she smacked him, but as her little gun flares to life, setting the ogre on fire and within moments causing it to explode into a large pile of grist he smiles happily as he looks over and sees both her eyes intact. Putting his weapon away he chuckles and shakes his head. “Nah, nah, you're the strongest of us chika, just don't tell anyone I said that. Not yet anyways. We got some serious character in our team, and I know two in particular that wouldn't take kindly to the news.” Despite having his hand smacked early he reaches out and gives Andi's shoulder a squeeze before pulling it back sheepishly.

“Sorry, I just miss having my Bubbles around. She constantly indisposed for the most part in my time line. . .” Shaking his head he looks away with a distant expression for a moment before looking back and nodding. “You're the binding force here, miss Sylph of Hope, so don't think for a minute that you're anything less than epic.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “I bet you say that to all the alternate timeline girls you meet.” Andi replies when he says she is the strongest of them. “So what happens—“ Andi begins to speak as she touches the grist and puts her weapons away. “To your timeline. Do you go back and your bubbles still has 1 eye? Or will it be different, with normal ole two eyes instead?” She asks. It is at this point that Andi notices her own sprite, who has been keeping the imps off the roof, likely with the help of her Stithis.

“And do we ever get together?” She asks, not realizing as they tumble from her mouth how it could be construed romantically. She blushes furiously as she does, however, and shakes her head quickly. “That’s not what I meant. Like…” She begins to laugh, knowing that any attempt she makes to fix this won’t come out right. “Like…do people ever get to meet and fight together? Or are we all stuck in our own world for…the next two or more years?” She asks. She can watch Fire Lord, and interact with others via text, but it is going to be hella lonely if she is just doing this for the rest of her foreseeable future.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Rolling his eyes at her teasing he's careful not to touch any of the grist as he follows her around the roof. “She will be as she was when I left. Our time lines are separate from one another, this being the true time line, and all the others being either loops or. . .” He looks at Andi for a long moment. “Do you really want the fifty hour speech of how time travel works in this game, or would you rather just know that no matter what I do here, my time line with still die out upon game completion?” Letting out another sad sigh, a sadness he can't seem to shake, he looks up at the aqua spyrographs shifting endlessly in the sky overhead. “The second gate in each world leads to the player's player, so your second gate leads to James' world. Your fourth gate leads to Sophia's, and your sixth gate leads to Laurra's” He looks back at Andi, smiling at her furious blushing. “So, yeah, everyone 'gets together' at one point or another, and for the end fight everyone comes together for the final boss battle.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Shenanigans explains that his Andi will still be there, which she finds to be a bit of a relief. It is better than going back to a world where everything is different, she reasons. However, as he continues, it becomes apparent that she has struck some sort of nerve, because he then says that no matter what happens, his time line will still die out. Andi’s eyes widen in shock, since the statement makes very little sense to her. Are they all going to die out? Or is hers somehow…special, because they are the ‘true’ timeline. That is stupid, and it doesn’t make sense. Why would a timeline die out, instead of just…continuing to live in their own dimension?

Andi frowns, and by the time she gathers her thoughts once more, he is answering her second question, explaining that the gates lead to the other people on her team. She doesn’t know all the names he has given, but she figures that they are Skip, Selendri, and the others, in some combination. “I see… I’m sorry, if I upset you with my question before. I still don’t get it, and I think…I think that you shouldn’t give up hope on your timeline.” She walks over to Shenanigans and wraps her arms around him in a tight hug. “Perhaps you are right, and I am Hope after all.” She grins playfully, and finishes collecting the grist.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: The hug warms his heart and he's able to return the embrace with one arm – still recalling her smack – and nod slightly. “Time is an ass, and the number of times I've seen everyone dead. . . .It's kinda hard on the soul, but thanks Bubbles, I appreciate it. . .” Slipping his hands once more into his hoodie pocket he tilts his head cutely to the side. “And you're right, you are Hope, and once you learn to use it, you'll agree, it's badass.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi can’t imagine seeing everyone dead, but she doesn’t argue. Who is she to judge him, or try to put herself in his shoes? The grist collected, Andi walks back over to the door, opening it for Shenanigans and herself. “Think we’re making Stithis jealous?” She asks, chuckling a little. She pulls out her phone, though, and doesn’t see anything new from anyone. That’s a good sign. On the other hand, she was supposed to keep an eye out for Fire Lord while he rested, and she did a really shitty job of it.

“Crap.” She mutters as she realizes what she had forgotten. “I was supposed to keep an eye on Fire Lord while he slept.” She picks up the pace down the two flights of stairs, killing two imps when they appear on the second stairwell with her cross-bow. Refreshingly, it only takes one hit to get each of these guys, and she can make her way back to her computer to check on her (hopefully) sleeping comrade.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Walking through the open door Shenanigans chuckles and shakes his head. “Well, maybe. I recall wanting to do some major party action near the beginning, wanting to see us all working to take down something epic, but never mind him. He'll have his own problems soon.” Holding up his hands he adds, “Don't worry, nothing he can't handle.” Smiling cheekily he follows Andi back to her main room and high fangs Georgesprite. The snake dragon thing hisses in a pleased manner and looks over Andi's shoulder.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → BubblegumcAndi: Fire Lord seems to be sleeping just fine, his sprite standing guard.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Georgesprite: Hissing softly again one of the heads says, “Looksss tasssty ssssenorita. . . .” while eyeing Jamess sprite.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Clearing up the last of the imps on the stairs while Andi and his other self kick some major ass Marcus pans back over to the two of them only to find them hugging. A huge grin splits his face and he chuckles. “Awww, so cuuuute. . . .” Following them back inside he waits until everything looks okay before sending her a message.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Awwww, so cuuuuute. You two look good together. Maybe I should build a private little room for you and Shenni.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Shenanigans explains that Fire Lord will have his own problems, things that he can handle. “He’ll probably love that.” Andi answers, chuckling. She remembers how much Fire Lord has looked forward to being here and fighting monsters. Those kinds of problems sound like exactly what he is looking for. Sure enough, Fire Lord is just sleeping for now, and everything certainly does look to be going well. Andi breathes a sigh of relief and sits on the table next to the computer. She glances over to her sprite, hearing it hissing something about James’ sprite being tasty, and Andi shakes her head a little. “I don’t think you’re supposed to eat other peoples’ sprites. But if you are hungry, I think Baker send us info for some cinnamon rolls.” She says.

Turning to Shenanigans, Andi continues. “What about you? Hungry? I haven’t mastered the whole making food things yet—or…tried it at all actually, but I am sure you can help make sure what I make is edible.” She adds.

Her phone buzzes, and Andi sees the message from Stithis asking if he should build them a private room. “Ugh!” She says. “Stithis is jealous, methinks.” She tells Shenanigans.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Haha! You’re hilarious. Though, he recommends a better safe room…I am thinking upstairs, the photography room with no windows.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: The tall man chuckles once again, shaking his head at the staring sprite. “Same as ever. . . .” he says wistfully, turning his attention to Andi when she speaks. Looking around thoughtfully he spots her lathe and says, “I'll make us something.” before wandering off to do just that. While he's carving the totem for Bubble's favorite meal from the future he hears he comment on his other self being jealous and with a smirk he shakes his head. “Yeah, he'd like to have someone around right now, but too bad for him. It'll be a while, unless we do some major changes around here. . .Which I do not recommend.”

Alchemizing a set of trays of food he brings them over to the sculpting tables and goes back to make up some drinks. “So, something fizzy, or something healthy?” he asks, thinking about what he has in stock. He's gathered quite a collection over the years, and despite his extended time with Andi's counterpart, drinks are the one thing that seems to change from meal to meal.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Reading her message he lets out a yawn, shifting his view upstairs to try and find the room she's talking about. Finding it, he scowls. “Far too small!”And with that he begins building a much “better” room for his player. He feels an itch, wanting to watch “himself” and Bubbles interact, but at the same time he has to admit staring at an older version of himself is unnerving on some deep level.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: He offers to make something, bringing a smile to her face. Though she doesn’t want to admit it, she can’t remember the last time a man stuck around long enough to cook for her—even if it wasn’t exactly cooking. “Umm…An hour ago I would have said fizzy all the way, since I don’t know how long we’re going to make it in this crazy game…but since apparently I am going to be just fine, and even with twice the number of eyes for a while, let’s go with healthy.” Andi opens up her phone once more and types a quick message to Skip, remembering their earlier conversation regarding Shenanigans.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Met Shenanigans. I think you can trust him.

She starts to type that he has Stithis from the future, and then hesitates. It might not be good to share that information with everyone.

“Hey, is it okay to tell the others about you? Or…would you rather be some creepy guardian angel type?” She calls out to him.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: With a nod he makes one of her favorite fruit drink mixes, and himself a coke, and puts both on their respective trays before taking a seat and motioning for her to join him. Raising an eyebrow at her question he thinks about it quietly for a moment before nodding. “I don't mind who you tell, but I will ask you tell Laurra, sorry, Skip, what I look like so I don't get shot when I need to go see her next.” Standing up he pulls up his short, showing a scar that is unmistakable a bullet graze running along his ribs. “My first visit to her left me a little out of commission for a while.” Sitting back down he laughs and shakes his head. “Trigger happy psychopath. . .” Looking back up at Andi he adds quickly. “She isn't really, but it's kinda her nickname in my time line after she'd shot two of us on accident.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “Shhiiiitttt.” Andi lets out a slow curse when Stithis shows her the scar on his ribs. “So she did…”

“I will certainly make sure to do that.” Andi says. He replaces his shirt and sits down, upon which Andi lifts her phone and snaps a picture of him. “See…easy enough.” Andi sends the picture to Skip, along with another brief message.

BubblegumcAndiSkip: Here’s what he looks like. (Pic) He is Stithis from the future, and he says he would like it if you didn’t shoot him this time :P

“There. Sent.” Andi puts her phone down on the table, keeping it close in case someone needs her, and turns to the food. Andi takes a quick sip of the pinkish smoothie, and smiles brightly. “Oh my god…Is this Mangosteen Madness?” She asks, giddy with excitement. It’s a drink she used to get at her favorite smoothie place, with strawberries, papaya juice, kiwi juice, and of course, mangosteen juice. She didn’t think she would ever get to taste it again.

“I was wrong before. You are a guardian angel.” She says happily, looking at the dish in front of her…apple cider vinaigrette salad with toasted pecans. Andi digs into the dish happily, enjoying the short reprieve from this game world.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Making a cute 'Peace!' sign when she snaps the photo, he chuckles and nods, thanking her softly. His smile only widens as she fangirls over the meal and drink he's selected and pretends to blush saying, “Nah, nah, no angel here. Just a very observant friend.” Chuckling he digs into his own salad, having developed a taste for them after spending a year dining off and on with the woman, then dining with her more in the later months. Looking back up at Andi he adopts a slightly unsure tone as he says, “Sorry, I keep doing that. You barely know me, and I keep pretending we've known one another for years. . .” He dips his head in apology. “Sorry, I forgot that that can be a little disconcerting.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Slipping into a side room Laurra checks her phone, just in case the messages are urgent, and as they pop up she raises an eyebrow curiously. “Time travel, really? How cliché. . . .” With a sigh she heads back into the hallway, shaking her head. “So I've already shot someone, somewhere, in some time, that's useful to know.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “Naw… It’s not that weird. I mean… It’s weird, but it comes across about the same level of weird as like… going out with a guy you met on Tindr you didn’t know managed to already find out your entire medical history and grades from your k-12 education.” Andi laughs lightly and takes another drink from her smoothie. “I mean…We just fought an ogre on the roof of my makeup studio that used to be on Earth. I think I am sort of beyond surprising today.”

She glances over to one of the windows to see that it is just as bright as it was in the afternoon when she entered the game. “Speaking of today… Shouldn’t it have gotten dark by now?” Though she is enjoying the food, she is also quite exhausted, and somehow it doesn’t seem fair that this day be allowed to go on forever.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: “I d'know, sounds pretty creepy to me.” he says with a laugh, shaking his head. Following her gaze he lets out a sigh. “Sadly, your world does not have a day night cycle. Not yet at least.” He says the last part with a twinkle in his eye before turning his gaze on the ceiling at the sound of the building being rearranged. “However, it seems like you're room is being made up for you as we speak, am I right?” Cocking an eyebrow he looks over at her curiously. “Once you have a safe room, you'll be able to sleep and the monsters will quiet down. If it's a room without windows you should be able to sleep just fine even with the constant light.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: “Then you haven’t heard about some of the guys I dated.” Andi retorts. Though, they weren’t all that bad, really. No one knew her entire k-12 educational background…at least, not that they revealed to her. Andi continues eating as he explains the lack of day-night cycle, and that Stithis is likely making up a room for her. She looks up as well and gives a small shrug. “It would seem so, but you would know better than I.” She pauses for a moment before adding another thought, the fork stopping in mid-air. “Though, I suppose in your timeline, today went very differently for me.” She clearly was supposed to lose an eye, and she doubted that the other Bubbles got a time traveling Stithis to cook her dinner after that.

“So… thanks. If I didn’t make that clear enough already. Today could have sucked a lot more.” She finishes eating the bite of food that had been on its way as another question forms in her mind. “So what’s next for you? I mean, are you going to stick around in our timeline and try to make sure it all works out? Or are you heading back to your world…er…time…er…whatever you call it.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: He shrugs. “It's not like I know everything.” he says in response to him knowing better than her. “I've made a change, so, I'll need to surf a bit to watch the ripples, but I can say that I plan to continue helping when and where I can. . .” He nods, smiling softly. “No need for thanks Bubbles. I was glad to do it.” Taking a few more bites he lets out a sigh at her final question. “Like I said, yeah, I will be hanging about, but first I have to see what's happened or at least. . . .”Looking past her shoulder he raises an eyebrow. There's the faint sound of wind chimes and with another small swirl of mist, another Shenanigans appears. Waving he motions for the new one to come around the table. This one looks a little more ragged and they converse quietly for a few seconds before he nods and makes the shooing motion with his fork.

The new one is gone a moment later and he sighs. Looking at Andi he smiles. “Seems like I'll be able to stick around here for a while. That was a me who checked this time line and, to save me the trouble, came and told me the next place to focus.” Shrugging he goes back to eating as if he's just explained something no more complicated than reading off a grocery list.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi glances up when she hears the noise, thinking for a moment that he is about to vanish on her. But instead, another one appears. She is about to crack a joke about getting another chair, but he calls over her Shenanigans, if there is such a thing, and they converse briefly. When he returns, he says that he has more time, and knows where to focus next. He seems pretty calm about it, and since it doesn’t bother him, Andi isn’t going to let it bother her. “Sounds…like a whole lotta Shenanigans.” She chuckles at her own joke, and turns back to her meal, accepting the new piece of information with ease.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: Nodding with a smirk he agrees. “Yeah, that's kinda why I picked the name. The game is full of all kinds of shenanigans, but most of all, it's the time shenanigans that take the cake. I was once in a room with thirty other “mes”, and let me tell you, it gets a little awkward.” Smiling over at he he feels a little pride. She's always been the one to try and keep things together, even when the world just continues to get stranger and stranger. 'Always helpful, always caring. I really admire her for that.' he muses, letting out a soft sigh. “As for while you're asleep, I can either stick around in your safe room, or head off to someone else's place for a while, it's up to you. I'm fine wither way.” Tapping the thing on his ear he gives and ironic smirk. “I've got games.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Now that she had (mostly) overcome her initial shock and disbelief, Sophia leaped into action, or rather, leaped into reading the Pesterchum messages and rereading the manual so that she would know what exactly to do. When she was finished, she glanced down at her adorable 14-year-old German shepherd mix who was laying lazily in his dog bed, glancing around curiously at the machines that had recently popped out of the sky.

“Oh shit… Spock,” she muttered, realizing her options with a sinking feeling in her chest. If this had not happened, he would have died within the next two years. And now… he will likely die in 57 mins if I don’t do it. But… I don’t know what that thing will do to him. But it has to be better than death by magic meteor. The young woman sighed with the knowledge of what had to be done, glaring at the bright green ball of light following her around. “So, I guess I just put you in here,” she began, scratching behind Spock’s ears and petting him gently for the last time. After a few moments, she finally picked him up and touched him to the bright light.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: There is a bright flash of light and when it fades the canine is no longer in your arms. The spyrograph in the middle of the ball of light has vanished and has been replaced with a much larger version of your dog’s head. It follows you around happily.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: Sophia grinned at her new Spocksprite and he seemed to grin back at her, approving of his new life, or at least, that is what she told herself as she began the next step. She retrieved her dowel from the Cruxtruder, along with her pre-punched card, and stepped over to the Totem Lathe. It took only a moment to inspect the machine, find the proper slots, and insert the dowel and card. Taking a deep breath, and sharing a look with Spocksprite, she sighed and pressed the giant green button. She took the totem, a bright green shape that looked like almost cylindrical, except for the fact that several smooth waves were cut into it. “It looks almost like… a three dimensional barcode, or something,” Sophia muttered, as she inspected the item and placed it on the Alchemiter. Then, she pressed the large green button on the Alchemiter and waited with a raised eyebrow for something to occur.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: The Alchemiter scans the totem, then once the button is pressed there is a flash of light and what looks like a giant fashion magazine appears, and with a rustle the large green book fans open to a page with a very “perfect” looking woman on it in a very revealing dress. She is faceless, but “flawless”.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Selendri: I probably need some weapons, I suppose, she thought. It seemed that the others had taken their houses with them, but she still wanted things assembled in the living room in case there was an attack. So quickly she took out her bow and arrows, katana, and sledgehammer and set all three on the couch. Though she was aware that she needed to log some of her items, she decided she would do that once she entered the game, as time was running out.

“So, I’m supposed to break this, hmm?” Sophia muttered, taking the green magazine. Glaring at the “perfect” body with an obvious sense of disdain, she instinctively ripped out the page, tearing it to shreds.

_+_+_+_+_+_

GM → Selendri: The world goes white around you. After a few seconds however the white fades and you find yourself in the same place, the magazine now gone. As your eyes adjust the words “Land of Acid and Stone” passes before your eyes before fading. Your sprite shifts and flashes before seeming to break into three parts. A white copy of the orb rises through the ceiling without damaging it, a black copy goes through the nearest window, shattering it, and vanishes from sight. Left behind is a ghosty form of your dog with canine head and arms, and a ghosty lower half, all in green.

Baker: As Tim promised, he began to build onto the top of Stithis' house. Fortunately, the top of the building was flat, making the first addition easier to create. "Like layering a cake really. Have to have a stable foundation. Make sure the sides are secure and then top it off. There! One section done. Oh." He added a ladder to the original roof in order to climb to the top. "Now it's accessible." However being ever so meticulous, he went ahead and connected the two together, giving Stithis a second floor instead of a random block on his house. It required removing the roof at one point as well, but it was put back. “There. Now it looks better.”

Charro rested on the desk right next to the computer, waiting for Tim's next move and listening to him talk to no one in particular. He was an odd one, but Charro still liked him.

"I don’t know if he expected anything super fancy, but it at least works.” He added a ladder-like staircase in the living room, though he was meticulous enough to leave the extra ladder outside just in case something went wrong in his building and Stithis couldn’t get into his new second- well third floor large open space. He could add the small details like windows in the room later.

“Remember not to use up all the grist at once.” Charro stretched and walked in front of the keyboard- unlike most cats who would simply walk on top of it, and sat in front of Tim.

“That’s a good idea. Especially if I want to avoid fighting or something.”

“You can’t avoid that silly. They get stronger. You’ll have no choice.”

“One can always dream.” Charro mewed and purred, hopping into Tim's lap in comfort. "Maybe Fire Lord had a good idea about rest. If we still need to eat, I suppose resting wouldn't be a bad idea either."

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Finally able to relax now that the fighting is over, Marcus continues working on the safe room at a leisurely pace, adding shelves and furniture to make it a little more comfortable to stay in. “I can't find anything to make a proper bed, but this block here in the corner could be done up as one, on- what the hell!?” his head snaps around as suddenly his roof vanishes, his hanging light fixtures crashing to the ground along with a few postes he'd hug up there fluttering down to join the mess. The roof comes back after a few seconds, a ladder appearing leading up to a hole in the new roof. Whipping back around to his phone he opens up the chat and spots Baker saying he will be doing some building on to his home and with a groan Marcus shakes his head, smacking himself in the forehead with the phone.

StithisBaker: Well, as they are already on the ground I guess there's not point in saying next time watch out for the light fixtures, however I will ask you to not touch the bathroom as a working toilet is not something as easily replaced as a ceiling lamp.

With a sigh he goes back to building the safe room, grabbing soft things from here and there to pile up on the makeshift bed so that Bubbles will be more comfortable once she decides to sleep.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Charrosprite: Purring gently the man sized – surprisingly light weight for his demensions – cat lizard sprite looks up at Tim and nods. “Sleep is very important in this game. It will take a long time to play, and sleep is an integral part of completeing all that needs to be done.”

_+_+_+_+_+_

Skip: Laurra continues to work tirelessly, slaughtering as many of the imps as she can, knowing that this grist stuff is going to be one of the keys to winning this damn game. Every so often she looks over as the sprite in her brother's form and see feels a little twinge in her chest. Sometimes joy. Sometimes sorrow. Sometimes a feeling she can't identify. Every time however he seems to sense she's looking and his eyes find hers, that familiar smile on his lips and comforting glint in his eye. A part of her railes against the idea that this. . .This construct of the game has any relation to her dead, flesh and blood brother, but as one unwilling to fail in her mission she forces her way past it and continues doing what she knows. Getting the job done.

_+_+_+_+_+_

BubblegumcAndi: Andi considers allowing him to hang out with her while she sleeps for a grand total of two seconds before she dismisses the idea completely. No matter how well he knows her, she barely knows him, and having anyone hanging around while she sleeps is just a little...uncomfortable. “I appreciate the offer but I think I will boot you out in a bit. The idea of you hanging out while I sleep is just a little...weird.” She pauses for a moment and then shrugs lightly. “Besides, I already have one of you keeping an eye on me. I’m sure if he couldn’t handle it, then you would know.” Just the reminder that her Marcus will be able to keep an eye on her while she sleeps is a bit awkward, so having two would likely put her over the edge.

Granted, Shenanigans likely already knew whether or not she snored...or scratched herself in her sleep, but she preferred to think that he gave her a bit of privacy, like Marcus had initially proposed when they started this whole spying on each other thing. Andi took a little while longer to get things organized, and checked up on Fire Lord again, but he was still out like a light. When she found herself yawning between just about every task, she turned to Shenanigans again. “I think it is about time…” She said, pushing herself up from her position leaning against the table. “I guess I should head upstairs and see what my Marcus set up for me.”

Grabbing her bag, she lifts it over one shoulder. “And be grateful that I practically lived in this lab anyway.” she grins, pulling out the mouthwash she had kept stored there. True she could have someone send her a code for a toothbrush, and Shenanigans likely knew one off the top of his head but that was still a bit much for her. “Take care, Shenanigans.”

Keeping her crossbow handy, Andi moved out of the back room and went to the bathrooms to clean up a bit. She swishes the mouthwash around, trying to focus on the attainable things. Right now, it was a bit too much to think about all of the things she didn’t have, like comfortable pajamas, or a bed. Instead, she had to focus on the things she had gotten from the others, and the things she had on hand. After she slept, she was sure that she could figure out what else she needed--and hopefully not sound too demanding to the others, who seemed to require the group chat far less than she did.

Andi took care of two more imps on the way upstairs, and her sprite took care of another with his lazer eyes (cool, but still really freaky). The safe room had been ‘pillow-ified’ and looks a lot more comfortable than she had left it. The photography equipment was pushed to the side, or moved to the other room, and Andi nodded her approval before pulling out her phone and messaging her Marcus.

BubblegumcAndiStithis: Thanks so much for setting up a room for me. I’m going to try to get some sleep. You good?

When he confirms that she is, Andi settles into the room, laying out some of her things to keep them within reach--and still not 100% comfortable with storing them all on item cards-- and pulls out her ipod. She doesn’t have the alarm clock ipod doc so that she can wake with a song reaching the chorus at the perfect moment, but at least she has the headphones. She savors the small piece of normalcy as she puts the buds in her ears and curls up in the nest-like bed that was made. Within a few minutes she succumbs to sleep, her sprite hovering nearby to keep watch.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Shenanigans: The hoodie clad youth nods in understanding, pulling up his digital display to begin working on where he should spend his time while she sleeps. 'It's not like she's asked me to stay or anything. . .I guess I just feel a bit protective. . . .After all, in my time line, she's the last. . .' Shaking off his dark thoughts he sighs, going back to his calculations. While she's busy with getting ready Shenanigans gets a ping and he pulls up his chat box. Stretching across all the time lines he sees that it comes from his original one a few hours after he left and he lets out a long breath, the name flashing slightly. He speaks his words aloud in response, the program in his visor converting his voice into written words.

Shenanigans → ???: Yeah, yeah, I'm here. I'm not sure when I'm going back. . .No, no, I can't think about that now. That's not even a consideration. . .Listen Hiss, I'm not going to mess this up, so don't even think about contacting him, got it?

He receives replies each time he pauses, saying the word 'send' so the message goes through. He closes the chat after snapping at the contact, turning to Bubbles as she addresses him. He smiles, his whispered conversation set aside for now. “Sounds good Bubbles. I wish you a pleasant night.” Bowing in a rather grand fashion he turns, there is the sound of wind chimes, and with a puff of mist, he's gone.

_+_+_+_+_+_

Stithis: Once he spots Andi heading upstairs towards the room he's working on Marcus stops moving things around and instead just sits back to watch. He's kinda proud of himself over what he's come up with for her health and comfort, going so far as to put a mini fridge he found in a side room in the corner of the room for snacks if she wants them He knows it's silly but as he watches with an eager smile comes to his lips and he wiggles a little bit. He stills however as she walks in, watching her look around with a light smile. When the chat box pings he opens it quickly and feels a faint rush and nods, though she can't see it of course.

StithisBubblegumcAndi: Yeah, I'm fine, I'm glad you like it. I hope it'll be comfortable enough for you. I'll prolly be heading to sleep soon too. Sweet dreams!

He continues watching her just long enough to see that she's settling in before shrinking the window to give her some privacy. With his task now complete he can feel the exhaustion that's been nibbling at his brain for over an hour now and with a yawn and a stretch he looks over at his sprite and murmurs, “You keep an eye out, right?” Sephillsprite simply nods in reply and Marcus smiles. “So cool. . .” His voice is heavy with sleep. Without even bothering to go to his bedroom, he passes out, sprawled all over the couch.

GM → BubblegumcAndi: As you begin falling asleep, you get the strangest feeling. As if you are waking from a very long sleep. The feeling grows stronger and stronger until suddenly you wake up completely. The room you are in looks almost exactly like your room at home, but the walls and floor are purple, and the carpet is as well. Any windows you may have had are gone, replaced with one window that looks almost like a just a little too small doorway like an old timey pointed arch window. It's large enough to fit through and has no glass or covering of any kind. You are now clad in an outfit like this(The one on the right) - Derse Dreamers

Baker: “Oh!” Timothy facepalmed after reading Stithis’ message.

BakerStithis: Really sorry about that! I completely forgot!

“Uh huh, so we do need to sleep.” He responded, though now distracted by cleaning his mess. Tim scanned through the game room, searching for all the light fixtures that were now on the floor and neatly put them in a pile. He checked in each room to make sure things were fixed. “I wonder if I can fix these too. . .” Tim managed to figure out how to replace the broken light fixtures in order for Marcus to have some sort of light in his house. “...There, that should do it.” He spends some more time building, trying to reach goals that were set for the game. Of course he doesn’t finish, however he does do a decent job of building and refurbishing the parts he had already added. He wasn’t sure what Stithis would want in these spare rooms so he left them empty.

Charro’s pawing made him realize he had been in one spot for a little longer than he intended. “Okay, okay. No more for now. Can’t beat everything in a day, got it.” They didn’t have enough grist in order to just blow through it. Although, Skip was doing a good job at keeping a consistent amount with all the imps she had killed. “You win Charro. A quick nap won’t kill me- uh, keep watch just in case though.” He yawned and headed to his room. Hopefully, the doors would stay strong as they were.

BakerGroup: Just in case someone messages me, if I don’t answer, don’t worry I’m just resting. Fire Lord had the right idea about it.

Fire Lord: Shaking himself from his funk James slowly dismounts his bed. “Is this part of the game? Or just. . . .A really strange dream?” He speaks aloud, the sound of his voice comforting somehow. He walks slowly around the room, his eyes landing on a few instruments he's always wanted to learn to play, along with several book he's always wanted to read, mixed in with his normal collection of books and other possessions. The room is a bit messier than he recalls it being, and the bright gold of the floor and walls gives the whole place an alien feel, but over all he feels rather comfortable here.

Stithis: As he drifts off he gets the strange feeling like he's waking up. Like being unsure if you're swimming up or down when paddling around under water. However after a few seconds of this feeling he can feel himself “waking” and opens his eyes, wondering if the game simply does not allow for sleep to happen. What greets his gaze is not in any way what he was expecting to find whatsoever. The purple walls and ceiling greet his eyes, and what almost freaks him out the most is he's on a bed now. 'Was I moved!? Kidnapped!? Did the imps have their way with me!?' He sits up quickly, his eyes focusing on the room around him quickly and after a few seconds he realizes he recognizes where he is. “What the heck!?” It's his own room. Several feet from where he fell asleep, he wonders vaguely if his sprite brought him here for comfort – the momentary visual of being carried in Sephiroth's strong, muscular arms making him grin – but then the walls once more register and he shakes his head. “No, no, this is. . . .Different. . .”

Climbing slowly out of bed he hobbles about, eyes moving over all the shelves, wondering when the heck he acquired half the figurines now decorating the area. The walls have many posters he'd give his left leg to own and every which way he looks he gets the odd feeling that this must be his room, while being convinced that it's not. “Well, this is different, for one thing. . .” he murmurs, plucking at his clothes as soon as he notices them.

“And for another. . . . .” His eyes go to the single door sized window that has replaced his small side sliding windows along one wall. He's hesitant to actually look out the window, a vague fear of heights giving him pause about approaching the glassless window. However, he has this gentle feeling behind the fear that seems to be telling him that everything's alright here. That there's nothing to fear from the wold around him.

GM → Baker: The sprite nods at you and as you begin drifting off to sleep you get the strangest feeling like you're waking up for a very long nap. When at last you feel completely awake you find yourself in what looks to be your bedroom, except the walls, floor, and ceiling are yellow/gold, and there are various items in your room that you've never seen before, but they follow your passions and interests. Any windows you may have had are gone and now one singular window has appears along one wall. It's like an old fashioned arched doorway, though perhaps a little smaller that an actual doorway, though one could pass through this glassless orifice easily. Your clothing has changed and you are now wearing garments of gold that match the walls and feel like comfy pajamas.
