There is a lot to read, try not to skim. Post CSes in the OOC for approval. Do not post them in the Character tab until I have said you may.

A world divided by castes. There are the Magi, who enchant the machines that run the world, the Artificers who create them, and the Ignorant Trades who make up every other aspect of life.

It is common and even fashionable to replace parts of one's own body with technomantic enhancements. Only the poorest of the poor are known to be wholly their original biology.

The richest of the rich, meanwhile, extend their life into eternity by replacing parts as they break down, eventually becoming entirely technomantic.

Interested! need to think up a character now.

I'm guessing it's implied that consciousnesses transferred into Automata via palladium may be altered or modified. Can an automaton whose consciousness comes from a donor be made to believe that they never had a human body to begin with, that they are an AI even though they're not? Just curious because having a subservient AI might be desirable were it not for the difficulty of making one, so using an existing consciousness as a template might be more feasible. I might make a character like this if it is allowed.

Yes, that is certainly doable.

You could also take the consciousness of an animal and move it to an automaton, altering it for the better.

OK, so here's the idea, someone with high status (a magus or off-shoot member of the royal family AKA a noble) lost a child at a very young age and commissioned a perfect facsimile to be made as an obsessive substitute. An urchin (homeless child, not the spiny sea-dwelling creature) was abducted off the streets and his mind implanted into the facsimile and rewritten to be as close in mind and personality as the original child. The facsimile would look as lifelike as possible. The outer layer would be silver made to appear, feel, and behave like skin. Under the skin is a network of mercury to repair the skin when it is damaged, giving it the ability to heal in a skin-like way. There would be a mechanical skeleton underneath it all, made with iron and/or copper, maybe even some aluminum to offset the weight and make the overall weight seem more 'child-like'. Everything would be controlled by a palladium brain connected to everything via gold wires. This character would be created as a 'doll' and/or prized possession, cherished like the child it replaced, growing up in high-society. Of course, this would undoubtedly be an extremely expensive endeavor. The facsimile would not have any built in combat features as the parent had no intention to have it fight or act as a bodyguard or anything of that sort.

I ask you mainly because I want to know if it is acceptable to create an automaton that looks perfectly human. If this is fine, then I will get started on this character. Also, can I use a picture in the CS appearance, and are you ok with anime-style images?

All of that sounds great. It would be a monumentally expensive endeavor(look at the bodies of two of Everden's high society in Duncan and Gideon and compare it to what you just described) so it would have to be a member of the Royal Family, probably someone who's pretty close in line for the throne(not that succession matters when the queen is immortal). It's also possible that both this child facsimile and their "parent" are a great deal older than either appear. The specifics are up to you, though.

I'm okay with pictures, but I may ask you to change it if it's not in keeping with the style of artifice that I have in mind. I am not okay with anime, sorry to say.

I do want to say that no metal can simulate the look of flesh, and even silver, though it would be soft to the touch and give like skin, would still feel cold and smoothly metallic.

Name: Felix Crepley-Quates

Age: 32

Appearance: Felix looks like a 9-year old human child with silvery white skin with a blonde pixie cut and big, glassy violet eyes. He wears boyish, but sophisticated clothing, his usual outfit consisting of a white shirt with lace, a black vest, a dark blue shoulder mantle, a pair of short dark blue pants, long white stockings, brown leather shoes and a top hat.

Enhancements: Felix is an automaton created to be as human-like as possible. His entire outer covering is a finely sculpted silver, enchanted to behave like skin and flesh, and acid treated and sanded to give it as close to a skin-like texture as possible and to make the surface non-reflective, making it took metallic white, rather than silver. Underneath the silver skin is a network of copper veins and arteries, with mercury running through them. The copper is enchanted to passively give off low amounts of heat to give Felix's flesh a 'life-like' warmth, while the enchanted mercury ensures that his skin repairs like normal skin if damaged. Underneath all that is a human like skeleton that can be felt through Felix's skin. it is made of mostly copper, iron and aluminum. No titanium was used as there was no need to make Felix's bones indestructible, and the iron and copper are not enchanted as there was no need to make him particularly fast or strong. If his bones break, the mercury in his veins can repair them as well. The aluminum is enchanted to offset his overall weight, making him weigh as a human boy should. All of this is controlled by a palladium brain via gold nerves that run through his entire body. Felix is truly a marvel of modern technomancy, and his parents are proud to showcase him.

Caste: Royal Family

Bio: Ophelia Crepley, a member of the Royal Family and close relative to the Queen (as close as one can be to someone almost 400 years old) took a fancy to the wealthy Arno Quates, an artificer who was more businessman than craftsman. Upon marriage, in an attempt to bring himself closer to the Royal Family, Arno changed his family name to Crepley-Quates, an act that brought about disdain and worked counter to his original goal. Arno used his wealth to provide Ophelia with luxuries, luxuries that she indulged in happily, having never known a life outside of being pampered, though she did love and appreciate Arno despite the rumors that she merely married him for his wealth. They were a happy couple and at some point, Ophelia had a child named Clement. Clement was deeply loved by both parents and grew up among high society, but tragedy struck when Clement was kidnapped for ransom. A botched attempt by the Automata Corps to negotiate with an unstable kidnapper resulted in Clement's untimely death. Grief-stricken, Arno and Ophelia turned in desperation to technomancy to fill the hole left in their hearts. They would make a replacement. They used every connection and resource they had to secure the finest the city had to offer in terms of Magi and Artificers to create their 'perfect little boy'. And though Arno never told his wife, some hush money was paid to the Magus working on the palladium brain since a poor urchin was picked up off the street and involuntarily forced to have his consciousness used as the template of the creation. Still, Arno and Ophelia couldn't truly forget about Clement, and in the end, named the new automaton Felix instead. Though Felix's personality was very close to Clement's, he was made aware at inception that he was not human, and that he had been based off of their deceased child. Still, Felix's creation was able to, over time, soothe the wound of losing their child, and they raised him truly as a son. While Arno and Ophelia slowly replaced their bodies with technomancy as they aged, extending their lives, Felix never changed physically, and it seemed the three would live out their lives as parents and child forever. Though Arno continues to run his business, he has shown Felix the ropes of management and finance.

That all looks great, you may move it to the character page.

And both of you, if you are able, could you put the sheet in the OOC thread in hiders?

Question: Does the technomagic part have to attach to flesh or what not? Can it be made and used as an exo-suit?

It doesn't have to be, there are machines that run independent. What would the exosuit be for? Can you justify its existence?

Just running some ideas through my head. Was thinking if the character was all flesh bag, but could wear different technomagic gear a la Iron Man except no flying around and beams. Not too set on anything yet, just brainstorming.
