Mictlantecuhtli looked about the ballroom. It was as perfect as it could be. Vases of fragrant flowers on pedestals around the room but too small for anyone to be hiding behind. It was the smallest of the ballrooms and on the first floor. He already had picked the songs and each female would have a Dance Book as a memorabilia and the males would have a fancy feather pen to write in the Dance Books as their memorabilia. He left the Ball Room to go to the Dining Room. Once he was there, he looked at the table setting. It would be a five course meal and hopefully the students knew how to eat their food. All was in place including the low height flower arrangements were delightful looking on the table.
"Now to let the students inside." Mictlantecuhtli spoke to no one in particular as he walked to the front hall. He opened the door to let whoever might be out there inside. He smiled like a gracious host as he waited for them to arrive. He glanced at the table which held the pens and dance books.
Bessie had showered and was ready to go dress. It was nearly time to arrive anyways. She walked to the end of the street and to the bus stop. The bus soon came and she got on for a short ride to the Ball Room. She was nervous about having the right costume and who she would be paired with.
Blake went out in his costume and his mask. Dressed like an aristocrat from the times of old, the 18th century as it was none, he looked quite regal. However, he was none to happy to have to hide his identity. He would try not to. She got on the bus soon after a familiar looking girl got on.
Neven finished his walk and arrived at the ball room at approximately the same time the first bus dropped people off, it seemed his timing was impeccable. He casually strolled into the ball room and immediately searched for some sort of servants. Neven needed to know where the changing rooms where as his cloths had arrived here and not at his room as he had desired.
Aaron was on time as always. He approaches with an eager skip in his step. Having just left the changing area he chose to walk towards where the ball would be held and enjoy the weather. Bandages covered his earlier injury and were hidden beneath layers of clothing. He was more than happy with his outfit and couldn't wait to see the others. Not that he was well disguised or anything but Aaron would not compromise on style or sophistication.
He had spent most the day on the computer studying and researching, also looking for ways to make extra cash. After that dull day it would be good to see the others and socialise a bit.
It took a certain, tall, social misfit a little while to get into the spirit of the masquerade ball, but once decided upon going he went all out.
He had missed the first few busses, (well, actually didn't even try to catch them) and stood at the bus stop slightly swaying about as he continued to sip from a silver flask.
Bessie arrived at the Dance Hall and went to the Ball Room Entrance. She was met by Mictlantecuhtli.
"Good afternoon, Miss Elizabeth. The ladies are on the right as you go up the stairs. We will meet down here after everyone is dressed for the Masquerade Ball." he spoke with a bit of a smile.
"Thank you, Mr Mictlantecuhtli. I'll be ready soon." Bessie spoke as she hurried eagerly to her dressing room.
Mictlantecuhtli nodded as Bessie walked by and watched her walk up the stairs and to the right as directed.
@Aisling Kameyo had left fairly early, absolutely refusing to be late again. She was excited about the ball, Kame always thought masquerades were amazing. Though she had never actually been to one. She had spent most of the time until now attending classes and being a hermit, so she hadn't exactly gotten to know anyone. It was one of her most indulged bad habits. She arrived at the ballroom, and she saw one of the few people she knew. "ah! Hello Mr.Mictlantecuhtli! How are you?"
Blake arrived at the ball, and he was still unhappy with his situation. It was something that he still planned to change. Arriving at the ball, he decided to give Mictlantecuhtli the cold shoulder. He had dealt with him quite enough already.
Neven came in on the tail end of Mictlantecuhtli's explanation so he came to the logical conclusion that males were on the other side of the stairs. He glanced briefly at the students he hadn't seen before, then quickly made his way into the dressing room marked with his name. To his satisfaction he found his clothes were there and he quickly changed into them. Afterwards he stepped down into the dance hall and waited for the others to arrive, and no doubt for Mictlantecuhtli to explain some more nonsense.
"Good afternoon, Miss Kameyo. Up the stairs and to the right, please. Good afternoon, Mr Blake. It matters not the anger nor the cold shoulder, what is, is. Up the stairs and to left the please. Good afternoon, Mr Neven. Up the stairs and to left the please." spoke civilly as s]each one came inside.
The maid at the top of the stairs gave out the room numbers as each one came up the stairs.
While Mictlantecuhtli may have thought that by stating that his actions had not changed yet would have accomplished something with Blake, it did not. For now, Blake was going wherever he was directed to go. This meant up the stairs and left for now.

Mictlantecuhtli was checking the last minute preparations such as appetizers and drinks. He then gave the order that the 'guests' may come down for refreshments and socializations. A chocolate fountain with fruit nuts and other bits of food that was t be dipped into the 'waterfalls' should be a hit for the females while the various meat sandwiches were designed for the males. Cheese, crackers, veggies and other tidbits were on tables in the outer foyer. A drink station with various drinks- alcoholic and non-alcoholic- was place at each end of the room. Comfy chairs were placed about as well.
Kameyo moved slowly down the stairs and held the railing. She had never been in a dress this large before and was determined not to embarrass herself. She was glad they had to wear masks so she didn't have to bother with makeup. Kame had put her hair up in a simple loose bun and didn't wear any accessories. She was a big believer in "less is more." and the dress itself was more than enough.
Bessie was finally ready to go downstairs. She had been dressed for a while but she was nervous about how the dance will end and who she was going to be paired up with. She kinda understood why but why can't they decide on their own who they were going to date? They were adults afterall.
She stood up and held her head up high and headed down to the dance floor. She had no idea what was in store for her.....
Blake paid no attention to the fact that he was the one's who outfit was the most beautiful, most stylish, most fancy, most fitting, most regal, most ambitious outfit that anyone there had worn. He came down the stairs with an expression of sternness and a look of great exasperation, since he was feeling as if he had been greatly vexed. Blake would have not have cared much if only he was able to expend the mundane minutes with that captivating maiden, Bessie.
The refreshments were very unlike the regal feasts that Blake had grown accustomed to. He cared little for the quaint snacks that were lain around. The only thing in this lampoon was the question of who would serve as the second half of the duo in which he would dance the proverbial dance.
Neven quickly decided that the only thing of interest was the chocolate fountain and quickly headed over to it. As he expected most costumes were quite elaborate, and he had no idea who was wearing them. Not that he cared... that much. He slowly began dipping various food into the fountain and consuming them with relish. At least they had gotten something right here. Neven might try talking with someone after all the guests had arrived, oh and they had to participate in that dance nonsense didn't they? Hm...
"Fine, enough's enough." with that, Penelope begrudgingly pulled herself from under the wad of covers she'd practically been melded into for the last two hours. She didn't know what else to do. She had tried every resource available to her to find a way off of campus, but to her dismay, she could only find two. Each of which boasted equally stern if not aggressive security guards who refused to her leave no matter what she did. She guessed at this point she only had one other option. She would take her time, and plan a better escape..maybe she could even get the other students help, but in the meantime, she decided it'd be best to just play along. "And playing along means going to the damn ball..." she huffed under her breath. She wasn't particularly looking forward to it, but she'd already gotten her gown a few days before, and it would have been a shame to let it go unused anyway. It would have been waiting in the hall for her by now, along with her mask and shoes. A quick soak in the tub to ease her nerves later and she was ready to go.
She arrived at the dance hall after the others, but quickly made her way to the changing area without notice. There she meticulously straightened her usual mound of strawberry curls until each strand was pin straight. Two loose braids adorned with little golden clips traveled directly down the sides and kept her hair from falling in her face. A sigh of relief washed over her as soon as she'd finished. The hard part was over. The makeup came easy, and though she wore a mask she still decided to make up the rest. When she was finished even she could hardly recognize herself, but that was the point she assumed, and admittedly, she was almost having fun. She slipped on her dress and mask then, and gave herself one final look over in the mirror. A single nod of approval to herself and she was on her way to join the others.
With grace and ease she glided down the long stairway, and joined the others. She was used to the elaborate balls her family and friends would throw every so often, but of course, none of them had been this kind. With a smile she made her way to the refreshments and sipped slowly from a wine glass, looking over the others to take them all in. Everyone was dressed rather handsomely and given she hadn't even formally met everyone yet, she couldn't quite recognize anyone. Perhaps this could be..fun?
Aaron Strolled around the room greeting everyone and guessing names. It wasn't too hard to work most of them out and then the rest were just a process of elimination. He tried the chocolate fountain besides Neven.@Eklispe His eyes follow the beauty in gold and red as she enters late. "Who do you reckon is under that mask?" Aaron asks Neven, he had his own suspicions but was interested in the thoughts of another.
Valask Payed no other any attention. He had headed straight to the bar. His outfit was clearly intended for the role of some sort of warlock or sorcerer, propane ran down hidden pipes to an igniter in the palm of his hand, capable of producing dazzling theatrical flames. He marvelled at the dancing light while drinking his beer.
Bessie walked down the stairs in her gown, putting aside her emotions and would enjoy the blasted ball even it killed her while she was trying to enjoy it. She had her own thoughts on this school and she may not express them to anyone then again she might....
Mictlantecuhtli smiled as he cleared his throat. "Welcome to 1800s Masquerade Ball. As I call out your name, you will receive dance book. Each male will dance once with each female. The one who dances what is called the Dinner Dance or the one before dinner, will sit with the young lady during dinner. I will announce who will date who at the end of the night. I will start calling names randomly. Oh yes before I forget.... You will have 5 of these dances and there is a key which will unlock the future dances as we get to them. They are on a time lock basis."
